Here's the 411 I was scouting local food and wanted something outside the norm so I found Kris Fresh Frybread by doing a food search on my maps. I figured, why not give them a try. Let me start by saying there are TONS of positives about this place. To start, they have lots of variable options for frybread food both savory and sweet. I uploaded the menu to help you navigate options and pricing. Upon walking in I was greeted by a nice fella named Adrian. I mentioned it was my first time visiting so he asked me a few questions regarding my food cravings and heat characteristics. I told him I was interested in something a little on the spicy side, but delicious so he offered to give me a sampling of both the green and red chile (both available for the frybread taco). ----While the red was good but more for folks who have a low heat tolerance- the green was my cup of tea as my Latina palate is always down for something flavorful and BOMB! The green was a symphony of soft shredded beef and green chilies that had an amazing balance of salt and gave me just the right amount of heat. After sampling, Adrian gave me a quick rundown of the remainder of the menu and I opted for the "Open Face Papago Taco".. My choice of meat (Of course I couldn't turn down the beef & green chile, beans, cheese and topped with freshly shredded lettuce). I also opted to go with a sweet frybread topped with honey and powdered sugar. (Also delicious). HERES AN INTERESTING THING THIS RESTAURANT OFFERS - THAT MANY DO NOT: Adrian mentioned they have a "PAY IT FORWARD".. option also. This entails a patron who may be interested in buying any menu item(s) and then that item is offered to individuals who cannot afford or pay for a meal. Essentially the meal/item is printed on a receipt and placed on a cork board for lets say, a local transient or maybe a single parent out of money and needs a way to feed his/her child and self for a one time meal. Maybe even a homeless teen.. who knows? What I do know is I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! So I opted to buy a few items to add to the cork board for future patrons. There is also a school food discount menu where anyone with a valid school ID can get items for only $5. (Must bring/show ID). Happy eating folks! ABOUT THE SPACE: Another positive is the ample space inside which means no two chairs will be bumping into each other. Plus the ambiance is peaceful and the temp inside is perfect on a hot day. There are 2-tops, 4-tops, 6-tops as well as 8-top tables so the whole family could come and enjoy a meal together. There is one bathroom for customers that is labeled male/female. There is also a baby changing station inside that helps with parents who have littles. High chairs are also available. FOOD VARIETY: Some other food options are Menudo, Pozole, Red Chile Stew, Various Burritos and other Frybread options. I was also told you can get half & half as far as both red and green chile. So that would be good for a couple who wants to go half & half. This restaurant has several drink options which includes sodas & Mexican bottle cola, plus a fresh unsweetened tea is made fresh daily. (Sweetener is available). Prices are fair and the food is hot and VERY filling. Again, I highly suggest anyone try the green chile as it is truly to die for! ONLY CON: My only wish is that the fry-bread is less on the chewy side and more airy and crispy. Again, this is just me being picky about my frybread. OVERALL: Overall, I would absolutely visit again and recommend Kris' Fresh Frybread to anyone and everyone! If you're up to it, go with the green (beans & cheese on the side- if applicable) - you'll be glad you did! Enjoy folks and I hope this helps.

A no frills spot for some good fry bread! We came here after a hike and it was a great, hearty meal post hike. They specialize in the green and red sauce and have primarily beef fry bread. I thought the fry bread was delicious and nice and large. The service was fast and kind. Ambience: there is seating and it is a large space. Definitely very low key

Never had fry bread before so decided to check it out. The place itself is in an offset building of a strip mall. Inside it is pretty bare bones - recently printed menu, small counter to order, and a few tables. The menu is fairly small, but has a variety of fry breads with a variety of topping from which to pick. I opted for a combination of red and green chili topped with beans, cheese, and lettuce. Was quite good. The bread by itself has a subtle sweetness, the chili is spicy. A good combo. N*joy!

My husband sought this place out based on a recommendation and we were definitely not disappointed. The restaurant is located in a plaza with ample parking. And the venue itself is pretty spacious and welcoming, with some tables and chairs to dine in, and also had a clean restroom for patrons to use. They advertise fresh fry bread with different toppings--plain, ground beef, different sauces, cheese, taco, popover, etc. My husband opted for the Ground Beef Frybread without toppings and I got the plain option. They were quite delicious, especially when made fresh. The portions were huge, very flavorful for the fry bread, and I still can't get over how fresh and fluffy these tasted. Honestly, the aroma of the made to order fry bread was so mouthwatering. We initially got the items to go, but scarred down our orders immediately at a nearby table since it was too hard to resist the smell and flavors. Each item is made fresh and cooked to order. I think we saw roughly 3 other employees making a bunch of orders. They had only a handful of people in the restaurant, but at least 2 other people awaiting their orders. They're quick to prepare these items and had them nicely packed in to go wrapping along with plastic ware. The decor--Native American Art and artifacts--were pretty awesome to look at. I felt like I had a firsthand glimpse into their culture. Will definitely return when I'm back in town! Still itching to try the Birria Frybread available on Fridays and Saturdays only!

Had green chili fry bread taco and it was delicious. Cool Native American/mexican restaurant. Chef is the owner so has some pride in quality.

Kris' was a great choice for authentic fry bread. Their tacos are huge and super flavorful. I had the green chilie taco and my wife had the cheese and bean taco. The fry bread was pillowy and not overly greasy. I would have loved to try their pasole but they only offered it as a 12 oz serving and I was pretty full from the taco. There was lots of seating indoors. I loved the sentiment behind the pay it forward board - very community-focused.

With out question the best ground beef I've ever eaten. The Frybread is perfect and delicious. I just ordered the "Frybread with Ground meat", and it didn't even need lettuce and cheese! The people are really nice and service is great. I will be trying the red and green Tacos. As can see the servings are big. Bill Cox

Amazing flavors! When you walk in, it looks like a mom and pop restaurant without the frills of fine dining. Standing to order, paper plates and plastic utensils. When you get your food, you taste the chef inspired flavors and textures. We tried the fry bread tacos and Rez fried. All of them were incredible.

It must be better if you are not a vegetarian. I got a cheese and bean burro. I was expecting it to be in the fry bread but it wasn't. It was a very average burrito. They didn't even give me any salsa! I also got the fry bread with powdered sugar and honey. It was good but didn't blow me away. I should have gotten rez fries but didn't see them until after I had ordered. Service was quick for take out and the restaurant didn't seem to have much ambiance. Not sure I will be back.

This place is great. First time to make it out. Inside is clean and functional, good music, and great customer service! The fry bread!!!!! Oh yes it is delicious. Nice a crisp, good flavor, great portions. I wish the menu would have been update with the new prices, but still worth it. 10/10

First glances inside as ypu walk in, are oh... the place looks so fancy from the exterior but the inside reminds me of a cafeteria... complete with open kitchen and more industrial tables & chairs. But don't let first glances taint you.... the chairs are really comfy and the place is extremely clean and spacious inside. The bar is huge, in length and depth... really this place could do well by adding so many more seats like most other restaurants... but that would take away from the comfort and space you feel. Service was excellent, reallt friendly, helpful with allergies and attentive to refils and empty plates. Food was great, prices are decent. Appetisers we ordered guacamole, one each so no fighting. The size equals the cost, the scoop is a generous ice-cream scoop size, equally echoed by the pics and servers explaintion. But this comes with 2 salasa and a huge bowl of chips. For the meals, 2 tacos, one pork, one fish... plenty of toppings. Very filling Also ordered was the carne asada, huge plate of meat, green chilli, pico salad, beans and rice. Topped with 3 small flour tortillas. Everything was the temperature it should be. They have a desert menu, but we opt for Mexican Wedding Cookies to go. Definitely be back

There's something so cozy and welcoming about this spot that makes it feel familiar every time we walk through the door. One of my favorite things to order here is the chilaquiles. I usually switch up the meat depending on what I'm craving, and this visit I went with chorizo. The tortilla chips have that perfect balance of crisp edges and just enough sauce to soften them without turning soggy. The chorizo adds a savory, slightly smoky richness, while the toppings bring everything together with fresh, bright flavors. It's the kind of breakfast where every bite has a little crunch, a little spice, and plenty of flavor. I also love ordering a fresh orange juice alongside my coffee--it's become part of my usual routine here. There's something about fresh OJ with a comforting plate of chilaquiles that just makes breakfast feel extra special. The service has consistently been wonderful, and the atmosphere is warm and comfortable without feeling overly formal. After all these years, Presidio Cocina Mexicana remains one of those spots I genuinely enjoy returning to. Good food, great service, and that cozy neighborhood feel that keeps you coming back.

I think I just found my new favorite Mexican restaurant!…read more The ambience here is charming. It's located in what looks like an old house, painted on the outside in a dark red paint. There are roses hanging from the ceiling, exposed brick, and colored lighting (would you notice more as the sun goes down). The wood ceilings really make this place special. There is a small bar in the corner. Don't forget to look up because there is a little door above with the guardian angel and children painted on it, and a couple of stained glass windows. From the minute we walked in, we were meeting with smiling faces. When you first walk in, you are inside the kitchen or at least right next to it. We started with a couple of drinks - a Corona and a Diablito, a sotol cocktail with lots of pureed mango. A basket of chips and a bowl of Green dip or brought to the table, and we were directed to the salsa bar back near the entrance. The salsa bar is fantastic, with several different kinds of salsa. We grabbed what tasted like a creamy tomatillo salsa, a pineapple salsa, a pico de gallo, and a creamy Serrano salsa. They were all so good that we couldn't say which was our favorite. I know that pineapple salsa just sent me over the moon! For an entree, hubby ordered a Sonoran burrito. He said the burrito was delicious, and kept pointing out how good the guacamole and side was. It wasn't especially big or small. I ordered the fajitas (steak and chicken combo) and the minute they came to the table sizzling, both my husband and I were surprised at how large this portion was. It was served with tortillas (you get your choice of corn or flour), black beans, and rice. The black beans were good - - I suppose they just tasted like black beans. I was surprised at how delicious the rice was because it's white and I expected it just to taste like white rice. But there was a creaminess to it and a flavor that I couldn't put my finger on but that I know was really yummy (butter, maybe? Cheese, maybe?? Idk). Good meat in my fajitas was super tender and the veggies were grilled just right. This was a really common really delicious meal. This place had been on my list for a long time and now that I finally been here, I'm kicking myself for not coming here sooner. The food was fantastic, the prices super reasonable, and it's set in a cozy, romantic setting. This place is going to be on a regular rotation for us!

Totally let down by the food but their green and dark salsa is GOOD and their draft beer is ice cold. Got there, guy at the front didn't know the menu (I'm not from in town) and he pressured me to order more food than what I wanted even though I said I only wanted two tacos. Ended up getting peer pressured into their rice and beans ($8!!!), two tacos, and a draft beer (don't get me started on the beer ordeal). When I got my food, the rice and beans consisted of a a 1/4 c scoop of mushy white rice but the beans were DELICIOUS. Tacos arrived cold as ice. Let their team know it was cold and ended up taking 20+ minutes for my two tacos to come back even though it was a slow evening. Lot of attitude served when first getting the tacos, and while they gave chips about 15 minutes after waiting for the second cook, the tacos came back barely warm and SO salty. I'd love to come back for the green salsa, beans, and ice cold beer.

While I've had some phenomenal street tacos in LA and Mexico, I've been wanting to explore more of its diversity, particularly the seafood traditions! We came with a healthy appetite and ordered the Mega Molcajete, El Pulpazo, and Camarones Locos. The complimentary ceviche tostadas were a promising start! Fresh, vibrant, they immediately set my expectations high for quality and freshness of the seafood to follow. The Mega Molcajete was a showstopper. The dish arrived as an extravagant spread of grilled meats, shrimp, octopus, lobster tail, fried fish, and more. Visually spectacular, and with flavors that lived up to its presentation! El Pulpazo deserves its own praise. Octopus is notoriously unforgiving. There's a fine line between beautifully tender and unpleasantly chewy. I've had my share of disappointing renditions to know that an impressive char means very little if the texture isn't right. Fortunately, this was executed well! Fantastically seasoned, with a lovely charred exterior, and cooked to the right doneness! The Camarones Locos were another highlight! We loved the flavors of the sauce! Since we had children with us, our waitress graciously accommodated our request to serve the sauce separately to control the spice level! We also had the Mango Diablo, which provided some much-needed tropical refreshment from both the Arizona heat and the fiery kick of the dishes themselves! A few minor drawbacks worth mentioning. The parking can be tricky, as the lot is rather small (we were fortunate to snag the single remaining spot in the lot). This was also not an inexpensive outing. Our bill (for the aforementioned orders above) came in just under $300 (tax and tip included). That said, I felt the experience justified the splurge!
