I don't usually go to this area of town so I thought I'd try a little something different while over there. My Mother's Restaurant looked like it might be it. It's an old strip mall right on the road with limited parking. I was there early so I'm guessing it wasn't a problem. At first I was the only one there and then three other groups came in. The menu is not huge but it's varied. The weight staff was quick and kind. I have sea bass on the menu for $17! So I got it! But I won't do it again. It was dry, a day old, And Char grilled which I don't like. I did like the green beans a lot. They've been cooked long enough and had some flavor besides of can taste. They have a small salad buffet with just the right amount of things and even blue cheese dressing! It's clean and well kept. I didn't notice any booths that were cracked or torn. If I'm back that way someday I might try something else!

I've passed by this spot a few times and have stopped in before just for the sweet butter and bread, which honestly was enough to keep me curious. Today I finally decided to sit down and have a full meal, and I'm glad I did. I ordered the Mom's Special Prime meal, and it was genuinely satisfying--simple, comforting, and done right. Perfect if you want to dine in without feeling rushed or stuck there too long. The service was very responsive and attentive, and I really appreciated the care they showed throughout my visit. The ambiance feels like stepping back into the 1970s in the best way warm, nostalgic, and charming. Overall, it's a cute little spot, and if you're in the area, it's definitely worth stopping by.

Brought my friend at 6pm on a Saturday night. Now wait and service and food were amazing. Everything was fresh and hot. We enjoyed everything. Wish we had room for the pie. The restrooms were clean.

My comfort restaurant. Warms my heart and feels like a giant warm hug. The price is reasonable, portions huge, and they have amazing PIES! I eat here at least once a month and have never left unsatisfied. The staff are always friendly and on top of their tables. Favorite entrees- pot roast, meatloaf and the roast turkey dinner WITH cranberry. Favorite soup- vegetable beef and the potato soup. Pie- BANANA, coconut and strawberry.

I can't believe I've never reviewed My Mother's Restaurant! It's been a favorite of mine for many years. A friend introduced me to My Mother's Restaurant. It did not look like much from the outside, and I was skeptical as to why she had recommended it. But once I went inside and saw the cute salad bar and the enormous slabs of pie, I knew I was in a great place! Everything is homemade at My Mother's, from the bread, soups, and salads, to the crust on all of their pies. My favorite pies are the chocolate cream and the chocolate peanut butter. The pie flavors vary per day, so be flexible with your choice. You might get to try something new! Their prices are very fair for the large portions of food that you will receive. The service is friendly and it's a family-run business.

So good! It was Thanksgiving day and we were out of town and my husband wanted a traditional Thanksgiving turkey meal. We found this place to be open on Thanksgiving. Our hopes weren't too high, but we were wrong!! Everything was great and perfectly seasoned! Definitely recommend this placed. I had the chicken fried chicken and that with the gravy was amazing!!

After one year of living up the street, we finally decided to give My Mother's Restaurant a try as we were craving a home style dinner. The restaurant seems somewhat hidden, though right off the Main Street. The interior isn't anything special. A little bit bland and boring, and shall I say outdated? But I had read reviews prior and the place seemed promising. Prices are decent for the offerings and overall service was good. We were given a small loaf of bread which was warm and tasty. Not sure if it was fresh baked but it could pass as though it was. We started off with the sautéed mushrooms which were a great starter. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak dinner which came with one visit to the salad buffet (limited offerings but all vegetables were fresh and crispy, leaving me satisfied), two sides (I chose mashed potatoes and corn on the cob, both of which were tasty). The serving sides were plenty, which certainly justifies the price point. I enjoyed about half of my meal at the restaurant and took my leftovers to have for lunch the next day. My friend ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and a trip to the salad bar as well. And my partner ordered the Chicken Parmesan which came with spaghetti, and also ordered the buffalo wings, both of which he says were good. Overall, we were satisfied with our choice of dinner at My Mother's Restaurant.

What a HIDDEN GEM. I seriously could have been back in my grandma's house and honestly from the decor to the food it might as well have been my grandma's house. Our waiter was so kind and the food came out hot and quick. The complimentary homemade bread and sugar butter was so good. But the pot roast and chicken parm were the stars.

Me. I was there. "As rare as possible" is exactly what I said.

There is a nice variety of sweet treats, and the service provided by the team inside the truck was stellar. One of our student organizations was hosting The Scookie Bar, and after walking around their event, you could score a ticket for a complimentary Scookie. As we pre-ordered so many as incentives for our students, I thought I'd give it a try. Unfortunately, something wasn't set up properly so we didn't have the cookies themselves, but we did have sundaes. We had six options to decide between. I went with The Standard consisting of vanilla ice cream, chocolate chips, and chocolate sauce, and on a normal day, there would have bene a chocolate chip cookie, too. The other five options included the Chocolate Lover, The Celebration, The Signature, Reese's Lover, and The VNA. While I enjoyed the sundae, I'm sure it would have been even better with the cookie included. The Scookie Bar is "where the scoop met the cookie" and serves freshly baked, warm deep-dish skillet cookies also known as scookies. They have a location at The Churchill in Downtown Phoenix, though I would assume I would more regularly see them when their food truck stops by ASU. Their Churchill location is closed on Monday but open Tuesday through Friday from 5-10 PM and Saturday and Sunday from Noon to 10 PM. If you want to order catering, it includes 2 hours of service and a 100 scookie minimum. They can provide a Build Your Own Menu where guests can choose the cookie, ice cream, and toppings, or they can choose from the Signature Scookie Menu which is what ASU did. They have been operating since 2016 in Phoenix. Now that I realize that I was missing the chocolate chip cookie, I need to try it again with that included! I definitely recommend this sweet treat to others.

I can't speak on the customer service as we never left our table and our waited just walked over and got what we needed. We were pretty stuffed from our massive meal, but we decided on sharing a cup of gelato just to satisfy our sweet tooth. I peeked inside as our table was right at a little walkway from the restaurant to the bakery. Gelato is just one of many things they serve here. They also have all your typical Italian desserts. Cakes like tiramisu, pastries like Italian flag cookies, cookies like Italian wedding cookies, cannolis of different varieties, and of course gelato. What was suggested to us if we wanted gelato was the hazelnut flavor. I was expecting a little cup for the 6 of us just to get a taste, but what he brought over was a massive serving. I don't know how many scoops it was or even how much we even paid, but we all got plenty with some even left behind. Now this gelato was life changing. Probably the best I've had in the states. I know it's gotta be way better in Italy, but I'll take what I can when I can. Think of a Ferrero Rocher but in gelato form. It was delicious and I couldn't get enough of it. It wasn't overly sweet and it had a little crunch with bits of chocolate and hazelnuts. My sweet tooth was extremely satisfied after having dessert here. I have literally been thinking about that gelato since I left Phoenix. Luckily this company has locations in Texas so I will definitely be seeking out this gelato soon.

As a born and raised New Yorker, I take food very seriously... and Italian pastries even more so…read more Just before Christmas, I was traveling from New Yawk (visiting my parents) back to Phoenix to attend a family dinner at my partner's parent's home in Scottsdale. While I was still in NYC with my family on XMas eve eve, it hit me... I need to bring something besides wine everytime I go to their home. Nor a Southern dish. I wanted something unapologetically New Yaek. And what's more New Yawk than a box of classic Italian cookies? After asking a few Yelp friends where to find the best Italian cookies in Phoenix, The Sicilian Baker kept coming up. I called them last minute on Christmas Eve eve, having never been there before, totally sight unseen. First of all, their voicemail is hilarious. Truly. If you do nothing else, call just to hear it. It will instantly make you want to order something. Once I reached a real person, I explained my situation, that I wouldn't be able to come in beforehand, I needed a beautiful cookie tray for about 14-16 people, and I had a few must have preferences. Without hesitation, they said, "We got you." I was assured it would be ready when I landed on Xmas eve. Sure enough, after my partner picked me up from the airport, we headed straight to The Sicilian Baker. Parking right out front, a huge plus. As soon as you pull in, you're greeted with Frank Sinatra playing, not just inside, but even in the parking lot. It sets the tone immediately. We walked in, gave my name, and within minutes a lovely young person brought out my tray. Ten minutes later, we were on our way. Easy. Efficient. Warm service that made me actually grab a small box of cookies to drop my besties home on the way outta there. I didn't even realize at first that there's a sit down restaurant next door where you can relax and enjoy something. Great to know for next time ;) . Now, let's talk about the cookies. Yes, they are on the pricier side, but every single dollar was worth it. The tray was robust. Classic Italian pastries across the board like lobster tails, tri-colored almond cakes, cannolis, and all the favorites you hope for when you're trying to impress a room full of potential inlaws. And impress it did. The moment I walked in with that tray, it was a hit. People were already claiming which pastries they wanted, plotting what they'd take home, and hovering before dinner was even finished. There was more than enough for 16 people, grand is the only word for it, which is my style 1,000%. To this day, they're still talking about those cookies which makes me phenomenally proud (and humbled). I say this in all my reviews, "I hate almost everything. I'm discerning. I'm critical. And when something truly represents what I stand for - quality, authenticity, and heart, I will shout it from the rooftops". The Sicilian Baker delivered New York level excellence in Phoenix! Do not walk, runswiftly to this place if you need a gift, a show stopping dessert, or simply want to treat yourself. I cannot wait to go back. Highly, highly recommended.

It's smooth, rich without being too heavy, and the flavor actually develops as you eat it instead of just being one-note sweet. You can tell they take this part seriously. Leave it outside the fridge for an hour and watch that cheesecake melt on your tongue crystals (if you have the patience for that) Their rotating monthly flavors keeps things interesting, and you're not just stuck with the same lineup every time. Out of what I tried, the banana pudding one was easily a standout--super nostalgic, creamy, and just done right without being overly sweet. The coconut one was also up there, more subtle but still really clean and flavorful. Love me some coconut! They also have a punch card system--buy 9 slices, get the 10th free--which is a nice touch. It lowkey turns into a mission because once you've tried one flavor, you kinda want to work your way through all of them anyway. Now...the downside. The customer service just isn't great. It's not aggressive or anything, just noticeably lacking. There's not much warmth or engagement--it feels pretty transactional. For a place that clearly puts effort into their product, you'd expect at least a baseline level of hospitality, and it's just not really there. So overall, if you're going to Banhams, go for the cheesecake. The rotating flavors keep it fresh, the quality is legit, and it's definitely worth trying. Just don't expect much from the service side, and you'll enjoy it a lot more.
