Enjoyed the texture and it was moist not dry! The Swiss had a nice sharpness not too sharp. Shredded lettuce, nice thin tomato and thin sliced red onion gave a nice balance. I'm typically not a fan of Russian dressing so I ordered it on the side, but it was really good not to sweet nice tang. Pasta salad has great flavor they are not skimping on ingredients or dressing! Marinated well, seasoned just right. Good mix of cheese, pepperoni and veggies. I ordered through Uber Eats and needed to call the store to request the Russian dressing on the side. The person I spoke with was very nice and accommodating he even asked if there were any other changes I'd like! Great service! Yum yum get you some! I was a regular when Cheese n Stuff was under its original ownership and was nervous to try out the newly reimagined north central deli. Despite my reservations, the new Cheese n Stuff kept its original charm with an updated interior and renewed commitment to sandwich excellence! I ordered a tuna sandwich and a doughboy at the counter. My order probably took about 7 minutes to prepare which I spent perusing the restaurant merch stand. While the sandwiches aren't aesthetically beautiful, the flavor packs a punch! The sign caught my eye of course and I just had to stop in with my son since he loves sandwiches and starving. The location is quite small with only a few barstools if you wanted to sit. It is more of a to go place. We were greeted instantly and it smelled heavenly inside. Baked bread is a favorite smell of mine. The menu has some great options. I opted for the Cactus Jack and my son a roast beef sandwich. There were quite a few orders before us so we sat and waited. They have shirts, snacks and other items available for purchase. Prices were good for the size of the sandwiches. When our food was ready we took it outside and enjoyed some of it in the car before heading home. They also included a few pickle spears. Both sandwiches were delicious. My son said his was in the top three of best he's had. He's picky about that roast beef so that's a compliment. I'll definitely be back. read more

Running errands on Friday in Phoenix and passed by Cheese and Stuff around noon. We have passed by here numerous times since living in Phoenix for over 30 years. Today, we decided to give this small, old sub shop a try. There is no real inside dining and prodimantly a grab and go stop. A decent line formed inside. We ordered the Manhattan special with double pastrami, slaw, thousand island dressing and Swiss cheese on a hoagie roll. The other sandwich was pastrami with Swiss cheese. The meats are Boar's Head and served cold. The sandwiches were ok, not overwhelming or huge flavor bombs. The prices are reasonable and obviously a long-time sandwich shop in midtown Phoenix must be doing something right. I don't feel the need to return and try them again. Cheese and Stuff is a staple for the neighborhood high schoolers. Give them a try and draw your own conclusion. read more

I cannot lie. I'm disappointed. I've driven by this place so many times and was glad to hear they were renovated and reopened so I could finally try it. The good things are the aesthetic and old school vibe. Also the employee who took our order was very nice. The downsides? It took quite some time for us to wait for our sandwiches, and ultimately they're just ok. The sub bread is sub par, the veggies were a bit sad (comparable to Subway levels), and my bacon is kinda meek and flabby on my Turkey club. I will always support local over chain, and even gladly pay more to do so. I'm hoping this is just new, growing pains that need to be worked out with practice, but for right now, there are so many other sandwich spots in the area I would rather go to. My first time back since the new ownership. Place has been cleaned up and feels fresh but still has the retro vibe. Definitely feels more like a business now compared to before. I think the prices went up a bit but understandably. Then menu is still the same and they worked with the former owners to stay true to the original sandwiches. They added one to the menu. I had a meatball sandwich. I liked it. Overall place is upgraded. Seems nice. I ordered two identical sandwiches. Everything on them. One was made right the other came without onion, tomato or lettuce. I was the only one in there at the time, they weren't busy. Parking is limited and seating is more limited, so if you intend to stop by, plan on a "to go" order. The moment I walked in, the staff was on the ready to take my order. I appreciate small business and patron them when I can. I opted for the Italian Special. For meats, it should have included ham, salami and mortadella, but mine was missing the mortadella. Nonetheless, it was good and I'd order it again. I also requested the Pasta Salad. The portion wasn't especially large, but fine for a side. Sadly, the lid was not secured and the dressing spilled through the paper bag and all over my passenger seat. The Brownie was fine, though slightly dry. I'd like to return to try the Dough Boy. Cheese n stuff was lightning in a bottle. One of the few places in this city you walked into and felt like there was culture in the valley. It wasn't always clean and it didn't really feel inviting but that was the charm, being hard to order was the charm, knowing some old guy knew what he could and couldn't compromise on was the charm. This place, this weekend at Bernie's esque Marionette of a restaurant lacks all of it. It's sterile as fuck in there now. They have some token crap from the walls but it's not cheese n stuff. The foods worse too, corners cut everywhere, just not a nice sandwich. Only recognizable thing is the meat and its boars head so no credit where it's not due. Menus cut up at best most of the good stuffs gone for turkey and lingonberry nonsense. Makes me sad to say but they should have just let it go peacefully. Won't be back. read more

Visited the new remodel and ownership yesterday. I was SO looking forward to getting the wild turkey- a sandwich I've been getting for over 15 years. The restaurant is beautiful with friendly staff but I was immediately disappointed when I received my sandwich and realized it was missing half of the ingredients- a wild turkey with no lettuce or tomato. We'd driven by this place a bunch and finally decided to stop by. We knew very little about it and found out quickly that this is a carryout restaurant. There is one folding table that maybe could sit six in a pinch but when we stopped, it was half full of toys. Luckily for us, there were two spots available. We ordered two combos, the Italian and the Sicilian. Combos come with chips and a can of soda. Both sandwiches were good but realistically, Jimmy John's has more meat. But they cost a couple bucks more too. The people were nice and there were lots of carryouts while we were there. While good, I doubt we'll return. Tried the #8 and a side of pasta salad. I also purchased two cavendish and Harvey drops . Mixed fruit and sour cherry. The roast beef pastrami sandwich on rye was good. But the side pasta salad was delicious. I don't know if I just looked out and got one that had a bunch of extra dressing on it, but I am in love with it. I've tried other people as pasta salad and it's dry this one with the complete opposite and had such a really great taste. I'm actually looking forward to trying it again. The only thing I can say is they only had one small left and I wish I would've got a bigger one. But now I have something to look forward to read more

The ladies running it were so friendly and helpful. There is so many options to choose from. We went with 2 turkey sandwiches, potato salad, pasta salad and a lefse to go. This place has been around forever, and after years of passing through Central & Camelback, I finally stopped in and learned why! This is a real old school sandwich shop. Family owned and operated. Letter board menu, and all the items are strictly the classics. It feels like something small town, like they never updated anything for decades. But it works. I take my first bite--somehow, despite crude preparation methods, this still competes with big chain sandwich shops. The ingredients are just that good, I guess! They also sell a lot of deli meats and cheeses by the pound. They've got a bunch of imported snacks from places like Germany and Poland. If you're a nerd for Central Europe, this is heaven. Service was kind, and I was happy with my lunch. I do wish this place were larger, so they'd have room to comfortably dine in, have more shelf space for inventory instead of displaying it on tables in the walkway, and maybe more space for food prep. The hole-in-the-wall, family-run deli of your dreams! I luckily work close by, so Cheese N Stuff is a regular lunchtime staple. I'm partial to the Chicken's Delight or the Chicken Club (both on the sub roll), but I have never heard a bad thing about anything on the menu. The tuna, in particular, seems to be a huge hit. Their bread is always pillowy soft and they don't skimp on the fixins. Everyone who works here is so kind, and it's always speedy quick.
