Yo, this must be my 50th+ time at eating something from Lupita's. Back in the day, I used to live in the area and even after I moved away, one of my best friends remained within a mile of this location, so I'm always finding excuses to stop by. And that was basically the reason I was there Saturday night. Initially planning on hanging out at my buddies house, we pulled up and found out that he was fast asleep so decided to get a late night bite to eat and who better than Lupitas. If you're in the area, keep in mind that you need to have some street in you to pull up on this location after 10 PM. It's not dicey, just a bit hard to find and the parking lot is located in back of the establishment, so there's that. However, they stay open until 2 AM on weekends, which you cannot beat. And their selection is pretty broad with several key Mexican staples, but my go to is the namesake, which is the Sonoran style hot dog. It cannot be beat and is usually whipped up and handed to you within minutes of ordering. They also offer a nice selection of desserts with the strawberries and cream being one of my favorites. And they have several aqua Fresca's and I usually get the Limon. They do queue a pretty decent line, but they run two registers as well as to go orders. This is definitely a spot you want to visit over and over again.

I don't know if I said this enough, but these are the BEST SONORAN dogs I've had in AZ. The buns are always nice and warm and toasted and the combination of all of the ingredients just hit right together . It's just so delicious! It's a must do for my friends when they come to Phoenix. The man behind the register is always so sweet and funny. You have park in the back and it's better than nothing. It's cute and quaint for what it is .

We had just moved to Arizona and heard that we had to try a Sonora dog. We looked up the highest rated places on Yelp and headed to Lupita's. Our server was so sweet and made us feel comfortable as we practiced our few words of Spanish. The Sonora dog was really good. It included a bacon wrapped hotdog that included beans, onions, and tomatoes. At less than $6.00, it was well worth our drive and the price! The other diners were ordering things that made us want to come back.

We are always game for chowing down on a Sonoran dog, the most delicious Mexican-inspired hot dog of all time. If you're looking for the best Sonoran dogs in Arizona, you should drop by Lupita's. Not your regular hot dog stand but it's a food tent. They have several chairs & tables inside of a large, enclosed tent located in a parking lot and only open in the evening. These Sonoran hot dogs have a layer of bacon wrapped around and grilled to perfection. They serve them in a bolillo-style hot dog bun and topped with pinto beans, tomato, chopped onion, cheese and topped with sauce. Yummy goodness! They boast an extensive condiment bar that includes various sauces, salsas, as well as fresh and marinated veggies to create a side dish to accompany your dog. Don't forget the sodas that are ice cold, in glass bottles. Posted a picture of the menu.

Great food and price! Cash preferred for this business. Parking is located behind the building. Service was great. Will definitely be going back

Okay the service we had was above and beyond even if we didn't speak Spanish! We preferred a variety of food items and they came out fresh and looked just like the photos! We a couple of the Sonoran dogs and they were packed full of flavor and we also got Elote and some cheese fried and boy we were in heaven! Don't forget the agua frescas!!! The set up outside was so relaxed and come as you are! Felt like we were in Mexico at a street vendor! Can't wait to go back!

Went here this evening and absolutely loved it! Dined outside under the tent at their location just north of the actual restaurant. The staff was super friendly. Ordered a Sonoran Hot Dog and a side order of Chile Toreados. Both items were great! I will return

Ask the Community - Lupita's Hot Dogs

What time do you open? It says 6:30 on yelp but Google says 5:30. I just sat there from 5:18pm thinking 12 minutes wasn't too long to wait in 106 degree heat but at 5:51 they were still not open and I left.

They open and ready by 5:40

Do they serve regular hotdogs?! Without the bacon?

You can get as much or as little toppings as you would like. All you have to do is ask.

What happened to this place - tent is empty?

I think they are only open in the evenings. But I not been by there in awhile.

We've been coming here for about five years now, and it's one of those places that just stays consistent. You'll usually see a line, but don't let that scare you off--everything is made fresh right in front of you, so the short wait is part of the experience. What really sets this place apart is the grill. You can watch them cook your hot dog or sausage to order, getting that perfect snap on the casing with nice grill marks. The texture alone makes a big difference--it's crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with flavor. They've got a ton of topping options too--probably a dozen or more. Whether you're into sauerkraut, sautéed peppers and onions, chili, or keeping it classic, you can build it exactly how you like it. The sides are solid. The fries are good, and the onion rings are a little different--thinner and softer than most--but still tasty. This isn't necessarily a place we go every week, but when the craving for a really good hot dog hits, this is where we go. It's definitely a local favorite, and you can tell by how many regulars have been coming here for decades. We've also heard they might be opening a location in Gilbert soon, which would be awesome. Overall, great food, fresh off the grill, and always hits the spot.

Ted's is my favorite hot dog spot in the Valley, and it keeps earning that title…read more There's a clear East Coast influence here, down to the details--like bottles of malt vinegar out for self-service, which is perfect over their fries, and Buffalo NY newspaper copies. And those fries are excellent on their own: thin-cut, crisped just right, with bits of potato skin mixed in for texture. The dog lineup is solid, with plenty of variety, but I usually stick with the all-beef frank. Everything's made to order, so there's typically a bit of a wait, but you get a buzzer so you can mind your own business while waiting. The space is a plus too, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. On my latest visit, a large group of bicyclists rolled in--some in full hot dog costumes, others in hot dog-print gear. They were all super friendly and cleaned up after themselves and it added to the whole experience. Consistently great food, a peaceful or fun atmosphere, and attention to the little things that matter.
