I had my first fry bread experience at The Stand. I love how the hit it outside and they cook it fresh to order. I got the Stand Taco fry bread with the works. I had my order to go so I could enjoy it in the AC in my car. While I waited I spoke with the nice gentleman working the front and learned about the history of The Stand. I left proud to support a family owned Indigenous business. If you're going to plan your visit, bring cash! I will definitely be back.
Love this place, anytime I have a craving for frybread this is my next stop. Food is made to order so it's always fresh, the people are so nice, it is outside so this is more of a to-go place. Cash only, and prices are reasonable.
We just arrived after a 7 hour road trip and eat at a fry bread place in old town scottsdale...omg that was not even real fry bread, overpriced and unfriendly waiter. Put the bill in the table while we were still eating. The portions were tiny and we got a jackpot bill! 44 dollars and still hungry! We wanted real fry bread so I remembered The Stand food prepared by Native American. IT WAS THE MOST DELICIOUS FRY BREAD AND THE MOST FRIENDLY PEOPLE! ALSO A REALLY RELAXED VACATION FEELING WHILE SITTING THERE EATING THEIR FOOD! Thanks guys! See you soon
The care that goes into the food really shows, the bread comes out warm and soft. Eating here feels meaningful, like you're getting a taste of culture and community, not just a meal. If you haven't had fry bread before, this is the perfect place to try it. Absolutely worth the stop and was worth the 6 hour drive
Wanted to have Native food since it was Indigenous people's day! This place is out on the res and off a beaten road. When we went there was construction being done on the road so we had to take about a 5 minute detour but it was soooo worth it! My bf & I got the stand tacos for about $18 total. I got mine without tomatoes and he got his how it came. We waited maybe about 5 minutes... The food came out pretty quickly. This place is also CASH ONLY. So if you're going definitely bring cash and maybe some closed toed shoes. The food was delicious and very filling! The fry bread was so FLUFFY! It essentially melted in my mouth and I think it was the best fry bread I've ever had. We forgot to grab sauces so it was a little dry but a mistake on our part! Definitely don't forget to grab sauces when you go! There was a lady selling jewelry there as well. If I had extra cash I would've gone shopping but I didn't :(. They have seats outside but if you're like me and hate bugs maybe not the best place to sit for you. Overall great place for a good Indian taco! I love supporting local and I think this is as local as you can get! I'll definitely be back!
Food was worth the 40 min drive! Extremely delish. The people were friendly. You could tell they have lots of regulars! There are other vendors on the land you can buy jewelry, lemonade and other things! Outside , pick up and go spot! They also sell red and white menudo! We will return!
Superb road side food stand. Yes a little off the beaten path. Yes out of a old broken down wooden structure. But hey for the price taste and portion it's pretty good. Sure I've had some amazing other frybreads but at more than double the cost of these. Look for the wooden board that says open/closed then you in business. Bread was good red chili was good. Also got a combo with ground beef that was good. Just wish I could've gotten some red or green chili salsa for that I'll be back for sure
This place is a hidden gem! Great fry bread and big portions! Tender meat, homemade fry bread and spicy green sauce. Very friendly folks who work there as well. A few things to keep in mind. This is a cash only place. 20 bucks will take you far here. Please remember this is a stand in front of someone's home, so the atmosphere is like your eating at a family BBQ. Parking is on the street or in the dirt. This is awesome spot for lunch and it's nice to get out of the bougie scene in Scottsdale. I encourage everyone to try this place and support local. Enjoy!
It was pretty good. I don't know about charging two dollars for lettuce is good business or not but it was decent. Don't know if I would go back maybe
The Fry Bread tacos were everything we had heard they would be. I had the Combo Taco and ordered it Christmas style, which is both red and green chili. The flavors were amazing, with a little heat. Prices were reasonable at $9-$10. The Stand was a fun experience off the beaten path and would recommend it for tasty food and great music. *Cash only
Wow, what a great place to get a wamuchtha ( traditional O'odham name for Frybread). Red chili was on point and other venders were there. It was all fresh as well. #Authentic
My sister and husband took us to the restaurant and I have to say that I was a little sceptical. The place is located next to a house and there is not much around. The place only accepts cash!!! We ordered a little bit of everything, but my favorite was the stand tacos. We didn't have to wait long, but we did notice that a line quickly formed behind us. The food was delicious and very filling. The fry bread was so fluffy! Fry bread is a Native American bread that stretches back generations, particularly in the Navajo Nation with whom it originated. They have outside seating only and some of the tables have umbrellas. Overall great place for a good fry bread!

We've tried our share of fry bread around the valley and this may be my new favorite. It's about as authentic as you can get - just a rustic stand on the reservation, cash only. Once you paythere are about six outdoor tables where you can sit or you can eat in your car. I recommend you eat your food right away because it would lose something if you take it to go I think. If you come in summer just plan to sit in your car and crank up the a/c. I've never had fry bread so light and pillowy before. There was not even a hit of greasiness. I had the bean and cheese and it was the perfect ratio of all ingredients. Loved it. My husband had the green chili and enjoyed his as well. They sell sodas and water for a reasonable $2. read more

I was eating at the Stand before it had a name, before it had a social media page, before it was "known." The consistency is the exact same, possibly better. Their red chili is the absolute best. I wanted to eat here everyday since I was visiting family from overseas so I missed it a lot. I ate as much as I could - red chili popover, bean/cheese popover, and my Mom had the taco. My favorite remains to be the red chili. It was weird seeing others there from different parts of the World...not just folks from the neighborhood. I was happy to see it and see them doing well and keeping it alive and true to the old school days. Keep it up! Go, if you haven't. This is how families in SR and GR make money. Food stands. Delicious food stands with homemade authentic eats. See you in a few years again! read more

Super tasty and made fresh! My husband enjoyed watching them stretch out the tortillas and then throw it into the hot oil to fry. We went in early August so we took it to go since the Stand only has outdoor seating and limited shade. Our order was the original taco, a red chili beef taco and a bean and cheese taco. All were worth getting again. The fry bread just makes the ingredients taste better. read more

Wow! Someone told me to get frybread in Arizona, but I wasn't too sure since this was basically out in the desert and literally just a stand! There's more restaurant like place in Phoenix, but we decided to go to the reservation and try this true hole in the dirt. Glad we did! The prices are a steal! Portions are large! It's a dirt plot with a wood stand out on the reservation. Can't be more authentic than that! read more

Literally a stand. Plenty of parking roadside, The Stand is surrounded by a couple other vendors selling jewelry and slushies to cool off. First time trying Navajo food and it was delicious Cash only!!! Red chili frybread - this was good, came nice and warm with tender beef chunks. Red chili is a mild sauce but very flavorful. Can get messy if you're eating with hands. Definitely filling Plain frybread - love how every culture has a fried dough. This was delicious alone and I can imagine it'd be great with some honey and cinnamon. Guava lemonade slush (from one of the vendors) - this was good, not too sweet and $7 for a big cup. Sitting there making a group effort to finish it all before it melts in 100+ F weather. A must visit if you're in the area, or even if you're not in the area. Local spot a bit removed from the huge city with good food. Really happy I could make it here to support. read more
I've had this place bookmarked forever so when some friends suggested we eat here I said heck yah! The Stand is literally a stand. It's on the Rez and everything is en plein air, except the artists here are the fine chefs that make the pillowy, lightly crispy, delectable fry bread! Service is kind and so friendly, and I love that there are other artists that also sell their wares next to the shop too. When we went it was a talented local jewelry artist that had all kinds of beautiful stone, metal and bead work. I had the combo taco, which comes with your choice of chile (Red or green) tomatoes, lettuce, beans, cheese and onions. Whenever I get an opportunity to do Xmas style I always say yes! They were all too happy to oblige and make a red and green chile frybread for me. When it came out it looked and smelled sooo good. It was a dreary, drizzly, and cold day so we all opted to get our orders and then head out but there is some limited seating in the form of some tree stumps right outside the ordering area. They've mastered the art of fried dough here, and both chiles were delicious and had some spicy kick to them. The toppings were plentiful and the frybread held up to the mountain of food on top of it. One of my friends who I went with has Native heritage and I asked her how this frybread was compared to her all time favorite from her godmother. She said it's very close! Details: - Native American owned - Cash only - All orders packaged to go - Employees wear masks - Styrofoam packaging read more

5 year anniversary of my first trip to The Stand. Sometimes you get romantic nostalgia over a place or experience, and when you go back it's just not the same. Not the case here, just as I remembered it, the food, the feel, everything, as if time stood still. Hope it's still the same if I make it back here in another 5 years. read more

Yelp describes this place as "Rustic" and it certainly is. The kitchen is a sort of handmade wood structure with a random assortment of patio furniture and wood stumps to sit on outside. Do not let this deter you. I got the Stand Combo Taco with half red chili, half green chili and it was delicious. The bread is crispy and made fresh to order, all toppings bright and fresh. Next time I'll get all green chili, it packs a little more heat and flavor. Friendly people! Worth the trip! read more
DELICIOUS food but you must have exact change! I ordered $9 worth of food... handed the guy a $20... and then he just handed me my order and moved on. There's no seating to actually eat at, or bathrooms, or a place for guests to wash their hands... it's definitely a takeout only shack/stand. However once you get past the ascetics the legit homemade fry bread is incredible. Sadly only got beans and cheese since they were sold out of everything else. read more
