I've been here a couple of times. They have a good selection of rocks and such. Their parking lot is gravel-ish and not good in the rain, but finding a spot isn't an issue. My only problem with them is the customer service. From the front end to the guys who load your truck, they're not very friendly or communicative. The lady strictly without any smiles said " we'll accept the return this time but not next time". I'll make sure there's no next time. Have been a customer of the KRC Poway location for 15 years. It never had great customer service (gruff is an understatement!), but somehow has gotten worse. There were employees and they looked at us, but no one spoke to us at all while we looked around. The rocks are now mostly manufactured block and large piles of small stone (large gravel). In the past, I would drive to another KRC location if this small store did not have what I needed. After this experience, I'm scraping all KRC locations off my list. Just being there sucked. There are dozens of highly rated landscape rock sellers, and we prefer to support these businesses , This will apply to contractors I hire as well - no KRC rock purchases. I do direct my money to businesses that have earned it, and KRC has convinced me to look elsewhere. read more

3.5 stars While converting part of my front lawn to drought tolerant landscape, I checked out the 3 major rock and gravel places around town. KRC came highly recommend, so this was my first stop. Of the 3 places KRC definitely had the most selection and variety of gravel and boulders for my project. They were helpful in giving prices and how much each would cost by either the yard or ton and how much area each would cover. I did find that their prices were slightly higher than the other 2 places that i looked at, but again they had more desirable rocks and gravel. So they might have something that the other places don't have. They also sell their boulders by weight. Although their prices were a few $ more per yard than other places, I thought they had the best overall selection and more quality stones. So if you are looking for something specific or just more variety, i'd start here. read more

This was our 2nd visit to this location in two weeks and the same experience both times. Absolutely awful customer service. There was only 1 other customer, 3 employees standing around. Not one offered to help or even acknowledge our presence. As a matter of fact when I asked the employee standing near us a question, he said he can't answer my question because he's on lunch break. He didnt bother to get anyone to help me either. I will gladly spend my money with your competitors RCP in Santee. They were much more knowledgeable and helpful. read more

Although KRC, in general, is a great company, this location is terrible. When I do use KRC, I try to go to the Lakeside branch. They are professional and thorough. Today at the Poway location, the guy at the register was too busy trying to be funny/ sarcastic/rude to get the order correct. Too busy listening to himself than to help my day go smoothly. I'll have to check if the products I needed are the same price as the wrong ones he charged me for. But I won't do any of that here. My first experience with this location was a staffer reading off a clients credit number and ALL the pertinent info out loud, over the phone, in the store. I just hope everyone in there that day was honest. read more

Please keep in mind this one star does affect my view on this company as a whole, but rather this one location and the customer service I received. I would recommend their Lakeside or San Marcos location anytime. While first calling this location an hour after they opened trying several times before emailing customer service on their website. I didn't want to drive thirty min to find out if they had what i needed. Their customer service emailed back immediatly apologizing they were short handed and she would have someone call me. Steve called me back from the location, very unprofessional and rude, but stated they had the quantity of the exact item i needed. Even though he was rude I headed there. I entered the shop, said I called and needed a black lava rock. Not wanting to move or really engage in helping he said they ste outside in the basket. Not familiar with their yard or where baskets were i questioned "Where?" He abruptly tossed his stuff on the desk and said forget it, seemed annoyed he had to walk a few feet to point me out to where they were. I got out to the yard where he sent a young man to assist, and the rock was not the one i needed. The young man called him on the radio, he abruptly says thats all i have. Maybe an apology for telling me you had it and sorry you drove thirty min to get here, or let me see which location has it. But he wasn't about to help any further. I assume he isn't the owner, explaining his lack of wanting to please a customer or have a return one. I wonder if he owned that company would he be more motivated to make a sale or please a customer, so his business didn't fail? Would not recommend this location. read more

The gentlemen at the counter were both great. Day 1 it was just shopping and getting rough ideas on prices, day 2 it was to order. Key is to go there when it's not too busy, if you can figure that out! I have the luxury of going during the weekdays as a retired homeowner. KRC Rocks! In my latest trip to KRC Rock, I had to purchase a various number of rocks for my latest project. Once again, I was building a beautiful garden of rocks and plants. Last time, I have built a huge garden of rocks and cactus on top of a hill, above the swimming pool. My rock purchase for that project was $ 3,000.00; however, this garden was not as large as that one. This was a simple "L" shaped garden consisting of a long rectangle and a short rectangle. On the short rectangle, there went a fountain and rocks. On the long rectangle, there went fruit trees, rose bushes, cactus and rocks. For this project, I ended up purchasing only $ 300.00 worth of rocks. Now, if you wanted to do the same purchase at Home Depot or Lows, first of all, they would have not have the selection of rocks which I was looking for, and hypothetically if they did, the purchase would have cost double price! I have purchased: 19 - 50 lbs bags of River Rocks 2 - 75 lbs bags of Polished Mixed Pebbles 1 - 75 lbs bag of Blue Beach Pebbles 1 - 75 lbs bag of Beach Pebble Boulders 100 lbs of Rainbow Pebble Boulders I shopped a magnificient selection of rocks at reasonable prices, perfect for my project indeed. I found out that KRC remodeled the whole place and now it looks more organized and clean. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. I worked with Alex and he was very helpful. This was a long project consisting of leveling the ground, planting the plants, round bricks around the plants (to hold water), fortifying the plants with round plastics and edge bricks, meshing the top of the ground (so the weeds don't grow) and lastly setting the rocks. I laid down River Rocks, splashed Blue Pebbles on top of them randomly for decorations and lastly splashed small marble rocks (from my stash) on top of everything for glamour and shine. This was a lot of hard work but it was well worth it. The garden looks magnificient now! I kept the mixed pebbles to do another small garden project and I bought the boulders to add up to my last project (hill top). In my purchase before the last one, I wanted to build a Garden of Rocks and Exotic Cactus on top of a hill, adjacent and above the waterfalls of my pool and my patio. For this project I hired a fine landscaper. Before the project started I went to KRC Rock in Poway, I selected what I wanted and got an estimate; however, I did not order the rocks nor purchased anything. I told the KRC Rock that I will send my contractor to pick up the rocks and pay for them, so they could charge me the contractor's price which is cheaper. So the KRC rock gave the estimate for the contractor price. Once my contractor picked up the rocks, KRC did not really give them the contractor's price and hand them bag rocks instead of loose rocks by the tons. I really did not get any discount! This is partially my fault because I had to personally go to the store and make the purchase to make sure that my contractor gets the discount. Quality and selection wise, they are fine. I purchased large size Beach Pebbles and Rainbow Pebbles of 3.5" to 8". Beach Pebbles are solid and plain gray rocks wile Rainbow Pebbles are a wonderful mixture of colors of red lines and white background. Rainbow Pebbles are basically 4 times more expensive than the Beach Pebbles. Overall I have purchased over $ 3,000.00 worth of rocks from them, yet with no discount! I always purchase my rocks from KRC Rock. I strongly recommend this place to all. KRC Rock is a great place to purchase your rocks, boulders, slabs, and even large cliff boulders! It is always a delight to go to KRC Rock. read more

One of life's twists is the perfect product is always at the more expensive store. That is true of my purchase from KRC. They have one style of rock that RCP doesn't carry. So I paid more for delivery and for the product. I'm now two days past the first estimate for delivery. My two street workers are getting antsy. I'm getting antsy. My neighbors are getting antsy. Stopped by here because I needed to replace some flagstone around the house. Upon driving up, the place was very busy and extremely chaotic inside their gates. Their office is very small and because of the line, I waited outside in order to let things clear up ahead of me. The line was slow, however once it was my turn, I told them what I was looking for and within 5 minutes of that, I was out the door. I didn't do any price comparisons because I didn't need that much product and because of it's proximity to my home, I found it to be convenient. I didn't check out their website but from the brief walk I had through their yard, it appears that they have a good selection of various products. The staff is friendly and very helpful. read more

We really tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt. NEVER again will I even bother to waste my gas to come here. This was by far the WORST customer service experience we have EVER had. It started out when no one even bothered to ask if we needed help although there were obvious employees (t-shirts with logo on them) standing there playing on their phones and talking to each other. We approached the counter and inquired about retaining wall materials and what if any were available. We were told the only ones in stock were the ones that were more expensive. We were in a bind and decided to move forward with the purchase and paid for the material. This was on Monday afternoon at 2pm. Our contractor went to pick up the materials on Tuesday morning at 0730 and was told the store had SOLD our materials to someone else and didn't have any in stock. Needless to say our project is now delayed due to this incompetency. We called the store and asked when and if they would have any more and they were unsure. We received a call Tuesday afternoon that they would have more in stock, but at this juncture our contractor could not pick up the material. We asked for free delivery or even a discounted delivery and were told flat out "we don't do those things" with ZERO apology. We went right away and demanded a refund and took our business elsewhere. Home Depot incidentally had those same exact stones for a dollar cheaper EACH, with an additional military discount. We saved $200. Lord knows why things happen. I should've went with my instinct and walked out when we had the chance. Note to management: work on your customer service and train your employees accordingly. read more

I was doing quite a bit of landscaping and I needed a variety of different blocks, bricks, and stones. * Most of what I needed, they had on-hand. * I wanted a few oddly shaped blocks... they didn't have it. But they gave me a time estimate for its arrival and it came when they said it would * I wanted some specific stepping stones to match my current ones. I brought in a picture of what I had and a piece of one. The ones the had made matched perfectly. * selecting the rocks was the hardest decision for me. But I went home with many samples. Some days I came just to walk around their lot and imagine what my yard would look like. The staff were incredible patient, helpful, and efficient throughout the entire process. The yard guys are awesome since I can't lift a damn thing anymore and they easily throw a 50 pound bag of rocks into the back of my SUV. Good selection of product. I did have a small problem as the rocks I ordered a year ago were delivered in a bin, not dumped on the driveway as I ordered. After several calls they finally picked up the bin but it was a little slow in happening. Good solid company though. read more

Poway said they were giving us a discount on 12 pallets of blocks, turns out RCPs rates without a discount were way better and then they gave me an even better price when I placed my final order @RCP. Friendlier and more helpful at RCP too. I prefer to shop Poway, but not when I'm getting ripped off.
