If you are in the process of upgrading your home, whether it's kitchen, bathroom, floors, anything--don't waste your time going anywhere else. Amazon Stones outshines ANY showroom you will visit. I went to recommended places by our contractor. I went up and down Miramar road and after a few visits, everything looked the same. I settled, and I mean settled, for a subtle veiny quartz. Meh. I am SO glad I went and stepped out of every typical showroom. You need to go and look, touch and feel, see it in the light, sunshine, know what you are really doing. Like the last reviewer, I went everywhere in the county (I stopped after I went to about 15 different slab yards from San Diego up to San Marcos!). Amazon Stones on Miramar Road was actually the third place I visited and I wrote down a few granite slabs I liked. I didn't want to make too hasty of a decision, so I kept looking at other slab places. I was doing the slab selection all on my own: no decorator, no designer, no contractor, and no fabricator...I was flying blind! Other than a little web reading, I had NO idea how to go about picking/buying and installing a slab. What I did know is that I didn't want to go to a "counter store" to buy a prefab piece that looked like everyone else's countertop. I wanted my counter to be a work of art....something unique with character and one-of-a-kind beauty...at a reasonable price (my budget wasn't big). I got quotes from the "prefab" stores for regular run-of-the-mill granite but in the end, with my granite slab from Amazon Stones and the cost of the fabrication/install, it ended up being CHEAPER to go the route of an "original" looking countertop/island instead of prefab. I came back to Amazon Stones a week later because they simply had drop-dead beautiful slabs, great prices, and wonderful customer service (Ricardo could not have helped me more with info and his knowledge of the industry). He carefully went over with me the whole slab I liked to look for cracks or other problems (there was only 1 left of this granite slab and it was exactly the minimum size I needed). We went to his office where he handed me a sheet on all the different edges/corners I could choose to have my fabricator cut (who knew there were so many edges other than the standard bullnose!). He then recommended (for my slab and sq. footage needed) what would probably work and pointed out what I wouldn't have enough granite for. He circled a few that he thought I would probably like, based on our discussion. I asked for and Ricardo gave me a few fabricator names he kept on file and after calling a few, I wisely chose Manuel who owns MGH GRANITE WORKZ (619) 754-0340. Manuel did an incredible job with the tricky slab (it was exactly the size needed for my project...not any overage...and he had to make it work). He came to my house and helped me select the right corner (I didn't want bullnose like everyone else, yet didn't want to spend $$$ for an over-the-top edge..I also was very limited on what I could choose as I did not have a lot of left-over granite to use). I decided a beveled edge would be nice and he said he would add a "diamond" cut on the corners (no extra charge) that he thought I would like. Manuel is a genius (see photos): he matched my slab wonderfully in the two places that joined and the diamond cut corners added such a beautiful touch! His work is fast, superb and his prices are much more reasonable than the "store" fabricators. The virtual slab yard is an amazing tool. I found a slab I was interested in but they only had one piece. The owner gave me great pricing and let me keep the slab on hold until I could confirm that it would fit. I went to almost every place in town and the quality of the stone here is the best. I wanted marble but fell in love with this leather finish. Could not be happier with final product. Had to find my own installer but that was not a problem. I never thought I'd enjoy so much looking at giant slabs of granite. My mom took me here since she's currently remodeling her kitchen and bathrooms. Somehow because the granite sheets are big and uncut (they're probably 7'x9' if I had to guess) they're even more beautiful because you're more likely to see patterns in the natural design. This company is Brazilian owned and they are only open March through October. Apparently Brazilian granite is better than Indian because there is less cracking. All the rock (granite, marble, travertine, slate) is outside (you can see a picture of their set-up on the website). The sales people are friendly but not high pressure. You're able to look at the slabs without talking to sales people. The selection is outstanding here but I've dropped them a star because the prices are so much better (albeit for pre-cut granite) at Prefab Granite Depot down the street. read more

Very good selection with good prices. I need a remnant piece to build a table top. I went to several places on Miramar and Amazon Stones has the best selections. Ricardo is very honest and helpful. Instead of hard selling stones to me, he advised me at beginning that there're maybe challenges to find fabrication shops to do it since it's a very small job. So instead of having me put down money, he reserved the piece for us for free. I phoned him make the payment only after I found a shop to take the job at a reasonable price. It was 2 minutes before their closing hour. He worked over time and emailed me the receipt right afterwards which was 20 mins after the normal business hours. This slab yard was the best we went to on Mir Mar Road... And we must have went through all of them! I do Kitchen and Bathroom Design, and was working with my most difficult client ever... My mom! We went to every slab yard for three straight days in a row! What made Amazon different from the rest, was their website and service. They have a virtual showroom, so you can preview the slabs right from home. The woman that was helping us with our slab was really nice and she knew her stuff! She even had the guys move several slabs so we can get a real good look and select the one we wanted. We found what we are looking for here. We only needed one small counter so we were lucky to find what we needed in the remnant collection. Their website is pretty good to see what they have in stock so I recommend starting there. They have a large collection and it seemed like their prices were reasonable. They are simply just suppliers however so you have to find someone else to cut/shape your granite or marble for you. We went with someone that they recommended to us to shape our product. I have been buying slabs from Amazon for 15+ years. I have known Diane longer (when she was at Granix) Every time I start a materials search I end up At Amazon and buy from them. They consistently get top quality slabs and they have the experience to tell you who is good and who is not (if you don"t already know) for fabrication of high end counter tops, stairs and other pieces. I have tried working with other companies (because I am open to new good sources) but others fall down on the job and I regret wasting my time. Diane and Ricardo are the best and if you have a problem with them then it's probably one of your own making. (I have definitely been guilty of that before. lol) Go with them and listen to their guidance. It will be one of the better decisions you will make on your projects. read more

I have purchased granite slabs from them twice now. We remodeled our kitchen about 4 years ago and they had the best price and great customer service. We went in back in March to pick out slabs for our new kitchen and were not sure how many we needed. We picked out and purchased 2 slabs and they agreed to hold the 3rd slab until we were done with our project. We ended up needing the 3rd slab but didn't know for over a month and it was still there.
