This is one of those hidden gems in El Paso. We wanted to sit at the grill but didn't have the time so we sat in the dining room and were served by Andrea. She was the best server we've had in the 18 months we've been in El Paso! The food came out quick and tasted amazing. We ordered the Hawaiian Playboy(highly recommend it), the avocado rolls, and the chicken entree. The egg rolls came with this really yummy, fun spicy dip. For a hibachi restaurant the price isn't bad for the quality of the food. I had the chicken and shrimp and I really liked the flavors and the size of the shrimp. The rice was flavored well, and their dipping sauces have good flavor also. I just wish the iceberg salad wasn't so cold when it came out, I could taste the ice on it and there wasn't much salad dressing on the salad. I REALLY love ginger salad dressing, so I was a little bummed about that. My husband ordered the steak and shrimp and it was very well cooked but there was a lot of fat on the steak also. On to the show!! Our chef this day was Bama. He was very nice, very talkative and showed off his skills. We were lucky enough to have a whole table to ourselves, and he still put on a nice show despite that there weren't more people around. I believe I've found a great japanese place! A friend wanted me to try this place out and I was very impressed. The interior is gorgeous btw. Very modern and simple. It's a good place for family get together and/or date night. Warning, it does get super crowded. Most of the time, the bar area is open and it isn't bad to sit near the chefs. They're really friendly and funny. I believe it's great to see how your sushi is made. They're quick and presentation of food is... wow. I'm not sure what kind of dish it was, but they're fancy boat dish was amazing lol. Anyways, there appetizer was a good size and tasty. Their sushi is awesome! And their soju is delicious. :) it was a wait for our food to come out, but when they did it wasn't cold. It took awhile since there was a line. Our waitress was knowledgeable and very courteous. The owner of the place was really nice too. He went around to greet his customer and always checked in with his workers. This place is right up the street from where I live and I had never been here before until my husband took me. The waitress was nice and good at her job, the service was also quick. My husband got the chicken fried rice which was good and I got the black dragon roll that was very good! They made it look like a dragon and it even had a flower on the side very fun! I also got the lava cake which was the perfect blend of chocolate and rasberry, warm and gooey with it having fudge inside I added ice cream and it was delicious. At this place, it's not difficult at all. I ordered the Poke Salad with Hawaiian style marinated ahi tuna, a bed of baby spring mix, seaweed salad and fried wonton chips $12.00. The quantity is good as is the quality for all meals I've had this far. I haven't had Poke Salad since I've parted from Hawaii. Next was the Grilled Chicken $20.00 which was great in a spicy teriyaki sauce. I also ordered one of the Chef's Special Rolls. The OMG roll in particular for $18.95. It includes whole soft shell crab, spicy tuna, crab mix, fresh tuna, avocado, tobiko & ponzu sauce. I didn't have room for dessert this time around not to mention the healthy eating preventing the dessert options. Even the sushi rolls are well portioned. I only wish they had a happy hour of some sort like half off the rolls like Ra does. I believe they'd attract more potential customers and can guarantee more regulars to include myself coming more often. Because $19 a roll can be a little steep. Not all of them are that price. I left and immediately had diarrhea at a gas station, then at a burger place on the way home, then at home had diarrhea until I bled. When the diarrhea was over I slept for three hours, exhausted. Wow! Things you do not expect to find in a teppanyaki menu: duck? calamari? salmon? blue fin tuna? Sea bass? I want it all!! Apparently they are most famous for their beef, so that is what I went with (rib eye) and Hubster got the shrimp/scallop/calamari combo. We started with the sashimi salad which had 4 different kinds of fish on top of lettuce, cucumber salad and unknown shreddies that were really good! After powering through his cucumber salad, I ordered my own! The chef arrived, an older gentleman, who was very good. He didn't just clack stuff around; he incorporated traditional Japanese rhythms into his cooking which I found most enjoyable. The vegetables were just on the edge of being too salty, but that didn't stop me from eating every bite! The beef was very good, although I would have preferred them to do a better job of trimming off the fat, or giving me a steak knife, so I could do it myself. Hubster thought his dinner was "amazing". They did not have sitting at the grill but had tables available. We made a reservation. They sat us at a table next to an emergency exit door. The Texas sun was cooking half the table. We asked for a different table, the waiter stated he would ask the host. Another party sat down next to us, Texas sun cooking them, they asked to move and were being moved to the table we requested! What the %^$#@#! My daughter spoke up and we were moved to the requested table. Placed order. 1 hour later no food and the waiter stated not only had they lost the ticket, he couldn't remember our order. Placed order again as he assured us our order would be first out. Another 20 minutes and no food. I cancelled the order, asked for the check, our family left. I have had bad experiences before but the Manager always made it right or even took care of the bill!
