Solid "Benihana" type experience Food was plentiful and well cooked. Table Chef was entertaining and enthusiastic. They don't take reservations for small groups so get there early. My only complaint is restaurant decor is dated and needs to be replaced

alright, alright, alright, let's talk about Shogun Steak House. Small mom and pop shop. Completely friendly, courteous and warm. Today i got rocked with so many delicious flavors took me 3 hours to get up my table. I ordered my usual Tako sashimi and Green Mussels the chef took it to another level. Look at the pictures not only the presentation was A1, the chef tough me a way to place the wasabi on the soy sauce plate. You wanna be mind blown go ahead visit this restaurant and guess what they have a hibachi tables too.

Food was good a bit over priced, service was okay I was here for a birthday but staff was very unprepared and unfriendly except the chef. In conclusion this place needs improvement but for now you are better off going next door to wing daddy's

The second I sat down and tasted the delicious hibachi style seafood and eloquently cooked fried rice with legitimate white sauce to boot, I was all set to grant this place 4 stars overall. And then...something unthinkable happened...which I shall commence to cover in meticulous fashion. So as mentioned in my previous review of Clicks Billiards, this place is conveniently located in literal walking distance next to the aforementioned establishment. That's how we happened by this place. I've been searching for good hibachi places in the El Paso area for several months now and it still amazes me that this one has never come up on my radar. But no matter. The way it's tucked inside a factory outlet setting of sorts would almost have you believing it's one of those mom 'n pop hole-in-the-wall restaurants. The decorum almost says as much. That doesn't stop them from turning out a decent product, for the most part.. As with all hibachi or teppanyaki meals, we start off with our traditional soup and salad. This soup was phenomenal! Like, seriously. It packed a slight spicy kick to it, but not overwhelmingly so. I found the zucchini floating inside my soup to be rather out of place, but it didn't ruin the overall flavor of the soup for me or anything like that. And don't ask me about the salad, because I never eat those things at these types of restaurants (I covered this in a previous hibachi review). Let's talk main courses for a bit: the wife got filet, lobster, scallops and shrimp; whilst I got lobster and shrimp. First of all, my dish was excellent. I was seriously surprised here. This little place can sear shrimp and lobster perfectly with just the right amount of lemon juice, butter and soy sauce. I highly recommend trying this with a touch of white sauce. Trust me. It will change your life if you've never tried it before. The wife liked most of her meal, with the exception of the scallops (since she never eats them anyway, so I ate them for her instead) and the filet. *sigh*... This...is where Shogun missed the opportunity to earn a 4th star from yours truly and committed the ultimate [as the French would say] faux pas of all faux pas in protein prepping history. Right off the bat, the wife immediately noticed her steak tasted extremely sour. So much so that she spit out her first piece of steak. She wanted me to taste one as well. But honestly, you couldn't PAY me enough to sample something she already confirmed tasted sour beyond reason. And there was something else odd about this beef. As the chef was placing it on the grill, I noticed that it looked less reddish and more brownish than I'm used to seeing. At the time, I sort of shook it off and thought maybe the dim lighting was playing tricks on my eyes. Sadly, I should have listened to my gut instincts in this case. I know what fresh steak should look and smell like. After the wife took that first bite, we both knew without a doubt...this steak was spoiled, expired beyond recognition, and never EVER should have made it beyond the pass. Clearly, no one was doing adequate quality control on their produce here and whoever claimed they DID....needs to be fired immediately. Because they could have killed someone. It's a real shame, too. Because everything else about this place was basically awesome. And we WILL return. But when a chef or...whoever...serves up a piece of beef that's clearly expired and should have been thrown in the trash weeks ago, that's also clearly a sign that brings serious doubt this restaurant would pass a random health inspection of their kitchen, outright. I've never ran a restaurant before, but this is just a lay opinion based on common sense and watching numerous episodes of "Kitchen Nightmares". Oh, and if you're wondering how we were compensated for the foul steak, after the wife voiced her disdain for the fermented cattle, the chef quickly re-fired a NY strip for her. It smelled and tasted exactly like a steak should (I confirmed this one personally). So all in all...if it weren't for him reacting so quickly to remedy the previous situation, this rating could have been much worse. For now, I'll just chalk it up to someone in charge of the kitchen failing to do their job. It only makes me wonder who the head chef is and if he or she has any quality control standards. At any rate, said head chef should return to the culinary arts college ASAP! A word to the not-so wise: cold beef that lacks a reddish color = bad meat. End of story. Overall: until further notice or experience proves us wrong, don't order the filet from Shogun. Their seafood is spectacular though. I'd give THAT....a 9 out of 10. Also, the fact that this place offers instructions on how to use chopsticks is friggin' adorable.

Half way done serving the food and the sauces hadn't been poured. The cook never introduced himself and he had to cook 3 to go meals before he served us. Bad management creating bad employees. After that we couldn't pay with our credit card and had to drive to an ATM and come back to pay. Bathrooms smell. I wouldn't come back, unless i start seeing some changes in their reviews

Decent place to eat teppanyaki in town. I recommend you to go during lunch time. Every day they have a different lunch special for about $8. For the amount of the meal, it's very cheap compare to other teppanyaki places. The teppanyaki chef is very nice and friendly. Other than teppanyaki menu they serve sushi. It's a little expensive so if you don't know what kind you will like, I recommend you go get chef's special. It comes with 5 different sushi and 6 rolls. Good size meal and cheaper than picking ones you like. They're closed on Sunday.

Since I was visiting my family in town I decided to yelp Japanese Steakhouse and Shogun and Hayashi Hibachi came up... I had already been to Hayashi and loved it so I figured to give Shogun a try. My family and I arrived around 530pm on a Wednesday and the place was legit EMPTY... we decided to sit in the grill area and order some drinks. First and foremost, entering the restaurant gave me an eye sore. I was astonished at the gross 80s carpeting and furniture throughout the restaurant and how HIGHLY dirty it was and the poor fish tank looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a few months. It's unfortunate because the restaurant also had a slight foul smell lingering around. As I looked over the menu to order drinks we decided to order sushi... ::: Now for the HIGH prices on the menu you would think this restaurant was well maintained... but that was a FAIL on their part. We received our drinks and while ordering sushi my family decided this wasn't a place to hangout for dinner so we were nice and ordered 2 sushi plates and finish off our drinks. Since we were starving and wanted to go someplace else we changed our sushi plate QUICKLY with our waitress and the chef/ manager seemed angry and gave me an angry kinda look. I didn't need to explain myself, but I told him that we were short on time and had to leave.... he was angry and started to raise his voice not letting me speak until I finally yelled out "ALL I WANT IS THE POPULAR SUSHI PLATE!!! THATS ALL" (that's literally the name of the sushi plate) ... anyways, I could tell he was extremely heated!! Lol Our sweet waitress was super nice to us... she said our sushi came with free miso soup ... but a few minutes later after the altercation with the owner/ sushi chef she came back and told us we were being charged for our soup now since we only decided to order ONE (15.95) sushi plate. Then she was yelled at from across the dining room from the female Asian manager "NEVER MIND" to disregard us from being charged for our soup that we didn't even want in the first place. The owners were CLEARLY talking sh!t about us in Japanese, but I could care less!! THIS PLACE and its OWNERS ARE RIDICULOUSLY CRAZY!!! So now after the heated tension was finally over and we finished our drinks ... I got the check and the waitress ended up charging me for the WRONG most expensive drink on the menu then what I had originally ordered. She confessed, but failed to help to assist in correcting her mistake. I didn't want her to get in trouble with the crazy owners so I let it slide. We even made sure to leave her a tip. To be honest ... 1 bud light and 2 mix drinks w/ one sushi plate all came out to $40. INSANE right??!!! I wished them a Happy New Year and my family and I made our way out as soon as possible. My family and I will NEVER come back to this place again!! I'm hoping within time this restaurant gets remodeled and sets reasonable prices because as of right now.... this place is BUNK!!! I HIGHLY suggest just going to Hayashi Hibachi!!! That is all.

As we were seated our waiter took 10 min to great us and then another 12 min to bring our drinks. I didn't think anything of it yet it was a precursor to the rest of our dinner. After he took our order our kids food came out in a very timely fashion but our two orders of salmon and one steak sandwich took 40 min to arrive at the table. What a ridiculous waste of my time because my sandwich was missing the fries ordered and our waiter thought nothing of it till I brought it up then he took another 10 min to bring my fries. All this while simultaneously forgetting the sauce for the salmon which also took another 10 min to bring out. The salmon was so dry it was tacky and stuck to your teeth. If you know the feeling you know it's bad. The rice that came underneath the salmon was crunchy and way undercooked. All while the waiter was like oh I can bring you free deserts for your wait all while I could only think about how I just wanted to leave. I was internally livid and exhausted but kept it to my self after seeing the owner or manager who we the guy with the white hair over at the bar enjoying a few alcoholic beverages meanwhile his restaurants service and waitstaff to the worst possible job they can. I saw the people who got the most attention and good service were all regulars sitting at the bar laughing it up with the manager/owner older guy. Why not make sure your restaurant is running smoothly and food is being delivered and prepared properly and stop trying to impress the regulars who most likely will show up either way. Any restaurant that is this unorganized and unmotivated is due to crappy management. All this and the waiter is like I'll comp you for the steak sandwich with a discount for the bad service and salmon which was a whopping $5. I don't want a discount I don't want free day old desserts I want good service and decent food. Discounts and free desserts will never fix the problem because it will always be a crutch for trashy customer service. How about stop drinking with the guests and whoop that staff into semi decent shape buy some high chairs and make sure your expo does a once over quality check on the food and time it takes to get to the table EVEN if that means stepping in and doing it yourself. The restaurant is dark the tables are sticky the whole place is very compact . Perfect and quite attractive after 5-6 wines for sure. I'm sure the food is outstanding after a few drinks as well . They gave us a $25 dollar gift card to return which if I could I'd give to the owner so he could experience the same horrible food and service we did. I wouldn't even give the gift card to someone I hated. This was one of the first times in a long time I didn't just let it slide because I understand all restaurants and people have bad days but this was exceptionally bad. If you are thinking it can't be that bad think again it absolutely can. The whole "I'm sorry we usually have awesome service and everyone loves our food it's probably just me and my family " is laughable . This isn't my first time here while visiting El Paso. The food is getting worse.

The staff was incredibly accommodating, and our waiter was attentive, knowledgeable, and so helpful with recommendations. The wedge salad was the standout of the night, generously portioned, perfect for sharing, and absolutely delicious. The pesto spaghetti was equally impressive, with a beautifully balanced sauce that wasn't overpowering. I ordered the miso black cod, which was cooked perfectly and beautifully flaky. While it leaned a bit salty for my taste, the quality of the dish still stood out. The ambiance is dark and intimate, perfect for an upscale dinner, and the iPad menus were a helpful modern touch. I was finna get the 6oz sirloin, which I have before and it's nice. Then I saw the 8oz Helen breast anyway you want it. Mmm I think I'll get that instead. Then I'm scanning on down the list and see 8 oz chopped round. With mushroom gravy. I can't do potatoes right now but I could do rice. And add a salad bar and some steamed broccoli, still only be about $21 and that's with the ice tea. And fresh baked bread and butter at the table. So I ordered that with gravy in the rice, cuz I likes gravy on it ALL, and I did add the Broccoli for $3.95 and a salad bar for $4.95. But she let me hold putting in the order so I could get most is the salad are before they started it. So I get it fresh, not sitting on my table for 20 minutes getting cold like last time I came when I barely got back to the table with the salad and they brought my steak out. The cook FAST here. Salad bar here is IMMENSE. And so many choices for salad, Romain, mixed greens or spinach, tons of toppings and at least 10 different kinds of dressings. At least 6 different what I call "prepared" salads like macaroni, potato, carrot, pea salad, beets and onion salad, some kind of angel hair with green online and bell peppers on olive oil and black pepper and a dash of vinegar? It's so good when they have it. Two soups always, today was tortilla and vegetable, which upon inspection looked more like a creamy potato with carrots and other veggies and diced potatoes of course, maybe they just had not changed it's name plate. I make a wonderful salad and thoroughly enjoyed it. Love chilled plates. When my lunch/dinner came it was on a huge round plate, the ground round was suspiciously SMALL. I used to work in a cafeteria and we sold 8oz chipped steaks and they were rice the size of what was in my plate. It actually really looked more like a hamburger patty. It would have fit perfectly on a small hamburger bun. If I had to guess I'd say head it's 1/3rd pound burger. Which is a tic over 5 oz. Not 8 ounces. The brucellosis was a large serving and bright green, and almost still raw. I could not cut it with a fork. I had to used a steak knife. I should have asked that it be steamed fork tender. That's on me, I guess. I just don't like "steamed" broccoli that still could pass as salad bar accoutrement. There was no gravy in the rice, even thought I expressly asked for gravy in the meat and rice. So as she sat the plate in front of me and asked if I needed any this else I said "gravy" and she said oh that's right it was supposed to be on the rice, I'll get some gravy. And a minute or so later another smiling lady brought me small bowl of gravy. The sweet tea was perfect. I even had a refill on that. The ground steak was cooked nicely, juicy and hot, the mushroom gravy was very flavorful and the rice pilaf was a perfect companion to it. I forgot to take pics, sorry, I just dug right in. This is still a great early dinner price and great choices. I'm definitely gonna get the 8 ounce chicken breast your way, next time. But which way shall I choose??? Decisions, decision!

Casa Pantera-Mexican Contemporary Chophouse…read more This place is a MUST! Loved everything about it! The restaurant's ambiance is striking, featuring Tulum/Riveria Maya-inspired decor that combines elements with modern aesthetics. The use of wood, metals, warm lighting, and overall dining room and outdoor terrace displays and creates an inviting dining experience. Service: The service is attentive and knowledgeable, with server who was eager to recommend several of the restaurant favorites. Not one dish we did not like-all amazing! Culinary Highlights: Mesquite Grilled Spanish octopus was Smokey yet savory. Cooked to perfection also served with Fingerling potatoes and salsa macha The bone-in ribeye (prime) cooked on a firewood grill was a true highlight of the menu, showcasing the restaurant's expertise in preparing a distinctively rich flavor entree. Cooked with beef tallow (no seed oils) chefs kiss Smoked beef short rib was so tender and had Oaxacan quesillo potato purée with tomatillo jam. Simply did not disappoint. Street style corn with chipotle aioli had us all going back for seconds. The sweetness of the corn balances with the smokey, spicy notes of the aioli. Craft Cocktails: Well balanced and wide selection of Tequilas to choose from. I can't say enough good things! Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply enjoying a night out with friends or family this restaurant is sure to impress. Our Group agreed that it was a meal and experience that will leave lasting impression. We will be back!!!!!

It felt like a place you'd want to hang out for a while. Definitely make a reservation because it fills up quickly. Service was a little slow at times, but our server was super friendly and helpful with recommendations, so it didn't take away too much from the experience. The bone marrow was AMAZING!! Easily one of the highlights of the night. We also ordered the Delmonico with bone marrow butter, which was cooked well and really flavorful. Drinks were great too and very well balanced. Overall, this place is a solid 4 stars, pushing 5. Great atmosphere, good drinks and some really standout dishes.
