Finding good sushi in a place like El Paso is no easy feat. The place is well decorated, clean and the staff are incredibly friendly. We tried a little bit of everything from the short ribs, empanadas and all sorts of sushi from their sushi boat. The boat looks amazing and tastes the same. Nigiri is my go to and it did not disappoint. Great salmon (plenty of fat) and tuna. Tons of sushi rolls for everyone's taste. Highly recommend! read more

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants to eat at, but lately, the quality of food and the amount has diminished, but the prices continue to increase. The salad mix is not fresh, normally turning brown. The wasabi and ginger are very dry. I think I will start going across the mountain to eat at Sunny's. Great service with almost as great food. The rolls are ginormous so be cautious of how much you order. I had the combination short rib order, it was great and I recommend it if you want more than just sushi. The chicken katsu is subpar so don't order that. Tried with a group of friends and had a good selection to try from. Tried the gyoza, salmon sashimi, Lava roll, caliente roll, chicken katsu bento and Tempura ice cream with mochi. The gyoza is decently flavored but is not an item that I would drive that far to eat. The salmon sashimi didn't have a bad odor, however, it didn't taste fresh which was disappointing. Given we aren't by the coast, I wouldn't expect that freshness here. The Lava roll is was flavorful, however, it's a Americanized version which was definitely not authentic. I would order it again if I go back. The caliente roll wasn't my favorite; it was not fresh or flavorful. The chicken katsu bento was underwhelming since the chicken was less than a cm thick which felt like if I was eating fried bread crumbs unfortunately, don't order it if you are looking for some real katsu. The dessert wasn't a bad option to try, it had decent flavor of the macha ice-cream and tempura was a little bit thick; however, it wasn't disappointing. read more

Amazing food is an understatement. I got an appetizer, two tolls, and a dessert. All of it surpassed my expectations and the portions are generous. I am glad I chose to try this place out. We went on a Friday night as a party of four and were able to sit right away. It was pretty busy, though! The miso soup was very bland but you receive a good portion. My husband ordered off the grill and he said it tasted good, but wishes he got a bigger portion. The sushi was superb! I would go back and just order the rolls. The chefs are rolling right up front and it came very fast. I didn't need any extra sauce or other additives. The crunchy was crisp and the cucumber had the perfect bite. This place is pretty cool! It's in a shopping center, so there is plenty of parking, and they have lots of seating, including table in separate rooms off to the side. We both got Miso soup & Salad with our rolls. The ginger dressing was good and the Lemon Roll was a fun item to try-it was very good and I'd order it again. I also got a salmon roll, which is a classic. I was incredibly full by the time we left here! Boyfriend got veggie rolls of some sort and was also very pleased (and stuffed) when we left. If you are looking to order BBQ SHORT RIBS, be sure to explain how you want it cooked. I have always ordered short ribs on this restaurant and have not had any issues. This time the short ribs was still red (bloody). The assistantship manager indicated that they cook this way (rare) because it is how customers want it!!! Yes, I would order rare if I was eating a rib eye steak, BUT NOT BBQ SHORT RIBS. If it was Restuarant's procedure to give customers a choice how their meat will be cooked, it should be asked during ordering process. NOT to assume that "everyone" wants rare short ribs. Restaurant staff indicated they aren't trained to ask customers for their preference. This is not a good practice, thus, the low yelp rating. P.S. This is a tiny spot tucked away in a very unnoticeable shopping center out in Dyer nearly at the 375 intersection. This shopping center features a sketch looking Chinese restaurant, a place simply named "Karate", a fake E-Mary, and a vacuum repair shop (yea, I guess those still exist). I've been in El Paso a long time and I've never even seen this place. However, my Commander and I (es literally my second therapist aside from my actual therapist), try to have a long lunch together weekly and just talk about everything. This time, he wanted sushi and I was like sure ok. He said let's go here. I was like what? Dyer? Apparently he's been here a lot. In fact, we sat down and he didn't even look at the menu. The girl walked up and just asked him, "the usual?" ... he said yup, thank you, and then his food came out lmao. Apparently, he's been here a lot haha. It wasn't bad. Just a normal sushi spot. This place is a hidden gem in the Northeast side of town. This is probably my favorite sushi spot in El Paso. It is a little small compared to other restaurants but the food is amazing. You will definitely get your money's worth. One sushi roll is as big as my forearm. The prices are reasonable compared to other restaurants. We couldn't finish our food and had leftovers although it was delicious and we didn't need additional sauces. I enjoyed the music and they provided excellent service. It is a must try! read more

Ended up in the Northeast yesterday night and had some awesome Bento plates at Hamachi Sushi off Dyer. They're open til 9pm and it's a lot of food for $13 a plate. This is the 2nd time I've eaten at this location, and I would say that the sushi is ok. The presentation is beautiful and the proportions are decent sized! But there is something about the taste that is just missing the mark and it's a tad pricey. However, for the price each roll comes with a side of eel sauce, miso soup and a mini salad. Maybe its because I just moved from Maryland and was spoiled by sushi there but I was craving sushi and this just isn't what I had in mind.
