First impressions were great! Very nice, warm atmosphere. The service was good and timely. The food was cooked perfectly, including the veggies that still had some snap to them! The filet was cooked perfectly medium-rare, it was tender and flavorful. The one knock I would give is they did not have any hot mustard or ginger sauce. The only other minor hit I would give them is that while the fried rice was tasty it had virtually no other ingredients like fried egg, etc. (not the end of the world but future diners might want to know that). They were not all that busy from what I could see, though the parking lot was full! However they seated us at a table up front in the dining room. Since she said it was a 35 minute wait for the hibachi grill that must be where all the people were hiding (it was kind of screened off or that area is setup like a "speak-easy")!! So We went for lunch today cuz we were craving some stir fry. We got the Hibachi, I had the Filet Mignon and shrimp and my dining partner had just filet mignon. We both also got appetizers, she had tempura vegetables and I got tempura Shrimp. The lunch also comes with the clear onion soup with sliced fresh mushrooms. We had two iced teas, unsweetened for her and sweet for me. The soups were amazing, my partner said even better depth of flavor than in the past. She said "I don't know what they are doing different but this is much better than it used to be!" I also enjoyed it as well. Our tempura's came and I was surprised mine also came with vegetables, but 3 long, not only tempura, but rolled in panko bread crumbs. The. Veggies were so hot you could not pick them up yet but smelled amazing, my shrimp were cold, room temperature. They obviously had not been cooked fresh for my order, compared to the heat of the veggies. I didn't complain. But to only get 3 shrimp for the price increase, over just vegetables, I didn't consider it worth the price so I won't be ordering THAT again. Should have been at least 5 pieces of tempura shrimp for that price. And HOT. The veggies were onion ring, sweet potato, broccoli and zucchini and OMG they were all amazing. The plate comes with a dark, watery dipping sauce that's slightly salty, slightly sweet, but I like them just plan with a shake or two of salt. Our chef was very nice and FULL of "Dad jokes" and quite good on the grill with all the antics. But he tended to over cook just a bit. My shrimp was over cooked... my steak was over cooked. My dining partner had ordered her filet super, SUPER rare, the waiter taking the order asked "Blue?" And she said "yes, just a little sear on each side and that's it. well after about a minute on one side on that super hot grill I had to tell him her steak was done and leading towards over done, to please flip it and take it off. The veggies were also over done and he did a terrible job dividing them evenly between me and my dining partner and the 2 others at the hibachi Table, two ladies who talked to each other the WHOLE time and no matter how much he tried to engage them in witty repartee' , they just ignored him which was really weird because this is supposed to be more of a "participation dining experience" or at least that's one of the reasons I go. ‍ we enjoyed the show, but the food was all just a little overcooked so the taste wasn't as good as I've had in the past. My partner got steamed rice and I always opt for the fried rice, but it was just too overly seasoned and had gotten hard grains on some because he left it so long without stirring it constantly. The ambiance of the place is nice, the hibachi rooms seemed brighter than I remember from other trips, usually it's a little more dark, but this was lunch so a lot of sunlight was coming in. The lunch is really a great time to come, I think Hibachi Chicken is just $9??? Where you gonna find dinner and a show for that price! I think this may have just been a little off day, unpleasant other diners at the table, cold tempura shrimp, slightly overcooked Hibachi foods. He was good at what he did and he had a good personality. He made an onion tower and made it flame.. he entertained a little birthday girl and made her special food. Every hibachi meal comes with a soup and a salad starter. With the meal, you get fried rice or white rice and cooked hibachi vegetables. There is plenty of food, but! I ordered an appetizer of tempura vegetables. I work 5m from this place. It used to be good, but after recent bad visits, I will never set foot here again. I feel like it's a health risk to continue to eat here. The whole place has a dirty water stench from the indoor koi pond that is not properly maintained. My spicy tuna roll tasted terrible and smelled even worse. I had already swallowed one piece, and upon closer inspection, the tuna didn't even look red anymore, it was a dull grayish color. Went here for lunch and everything was going well untill, i believe they were, regulars came in. Me and my family were seated at the same table as them and it was clear that they were getting favorable treatment. They knew the chef who was cooking for us and the chef seemed to be only focusing on them and occasionally talking to us as well. The waiter was amazing though, not showing any favoritism towards the other guests like the chef did so cudos to them! This wasn't a very favorable experience for me and my family as it was our first time there but the food was good. I enjoyed my Steak and it seemed everyone else in my family also enjoyed their meals, but would have preferred a better experience the other guests in the restaurant were having. Also I was amazed to see their huge koi pond in the middle of the restaurant. They have a sushi area, teppanyaki area and a full size bar. We wanted to make a reservation beforehand for teppanyaki but were told that they had 2 groups at the time already so we would have to walk in. I went in around 6pm to get a table before others arrived but I was told that everyone has to be present to be seated.. but they let me wait for others at the bar. Their food was ok. Nothing special.. I think Koze has a better quality of food but this place has better performances in my opinion. Or maybe it was just our chef but either way he was very entertaining. I give it a 3 star only because the food is delish and the chef's are real cool. However, like others have said. Service from the hostess to the waitress is the worse. Management needs to retrain if they really want to increase there rating and business. I've visited this restaurant since it's opening. Every time I'm in El Paso. Once a year, eat at least once a week. The chef we had was the best. Smiling, entertaining and knowledgeable. The shrimp he was given for us, had a fly. He was quick to ask for a replacement. But those in charge had to think about what needed to be done, finally they ok'd replacement....really guy. They also did not provide our chef with enough meat and sauce to provide us with. So it's a beautiful Saturday and my wife wanted an early dinner before we head out shopping AND she craved this place so I said sure, let's go. We get here and are seated promptly by the bar which is much more romantic. We opted for the Steak and chicken special which comes with a bowl of Mizu soup and a simple salad. I want to start with I'm a gastric patient so I have a stomach the size of a banana, and I always order off the kids menu after explaining why medically I can not eat an adult sized meal. Well here unless you have a doctors note you can't order off the kids menu, which to me is highly disappointing Bc it's no longer worth it to eat. The portions are good but the prices are way to high for what you are getting on top of charging you 15% gratuity that is added without consent. Well I ordered the miso soup and it tasted extremely bland. I asked the waitress if she had any rolls without rice. Well she seemed as if she didnt know what I was talking about or the menu. She eventually pointed out a small section on the menu. I order 2 rolls and the tataki. The tuna tataki should have been seared. That's was missing it was just steamed tuna. Horrible!! I know, right?! It's like...how many times am I gonna update the review on Hayashi? Maybe until they are worthy of 5 out of 5? Well...that could take some doing, actually. Because whilst I am officially a fan of their cuisine, there are still a few minor, yet glaring deficiencies I noticed, even upon this last visit. First of all, the service. I don't know how many times I gotta stress how important good, prompt, attentive service is. It can literally make or break the entire dining out experience. I've actually been in situations in other restaurants where the food was basically mediocre; but since the service was superb, it almost made up for the whole fiasco. It's a little more difficult for it to go the other way around though. The waitress we had tonight seemed a bit overwhelmed, to say the least. To her credit, she got better towards the end of the meal. But that might have also been due to it being closing time and her inevitably being able to collect the check. Whilst I most certainly dropped a king's ransom on tonight's dinner, I left the server around 17%. And I was being very generous. Second complaint: their WiFi is still busted. Like, it registers...but you can't connect to it. Might as well not have it if they're never gonna bother to get it fixed. Funny thing is I bet I could fix it in about 20 minutes or less. No, really. Put ME in coach! I'm ready! Those are surprisingly my only gripes though. Hayashi has come a long way since that dismal summer I first visited them back in '15. We just recently had the pleasure of trying the King Maki roll (pictured below). And...just...sweet baby Jesus this thing is insatiable!! Seriously, it's like you can't get enough of the stuff, but at the same time it's very easy to get full if you're not careful. I make no exaggeration when I say that this roll is the most delicious sushi roll I have ever tasted in my entire life! That roll could have single handedly given Hayashi an additional star....but there's more. The chef tonight was on his A game. Every single menu item this man prepared; from the shrimp, to the rice, to the steak, to the lobster, to the veggies...ALL were perfectly seasoned. It's as if they hired a new head chef (or maybe just the guy I exchanged emails with last year) and he taught all the executive chefs how to properly season their meats and poultry. Whatever the case, I want to make it known that their efforts have been noticed and I think it's great! Far as I'm concerned, Hayashi is now neck and neck with Koze. In a way, they might have one slight advantage over Koze which would be...the wait time. Lately the wait time has drastically increased at Koze and the wife and I haven't really figured out why. All we know is whenever we wanna go to Koze, it's almost like we have to call ahead for a table. We only waited at Hayashi on a busy Saturday night for 20 minutes before seating. Honestly, waiting for the server to take our order took way longer than getting a seat. Irony. So...this review is updated for the third time. And by the powers vested in me, I hereby promote Hayashi to 4 magical orgasm inducing Maki rolls out of 5. read more

I've never ever had horrible service here. My kids love it as does my entire family. Haven't even tried other places because my heRt is content. I would recommend asking your chef to cook your food separate, I love extra garlic and salt. :( but they always accommodate my taste buds. First time here. Will take up to 6 people for dine in at hibachi. Brought entire family here to celebrate Father's Day 2020 on Saturday, 20JUN because have to work tomorrow during actual. Haven't had hibachi since Lawton and always looked at this place since we constantly shop at El Super. Having stepped in, it was a very nice ambience with koi and baby turtles swimming in their indoor pond. Upon sitting down due to COVID19, bar scanned the menu located at the corners of the hibachi table. Well distances from other patrons so this establishment is very safe. Is it weird that when I go to a teppanyaki restaurant I don't want the chef to throw things into my mouth? I can't catch popcorn I throw up in the air for myself and I've seen a chef hit someone in the face with a shrimp more than once in my lifetime so we're just not on that level where I trust them. So how do I feel about the hibachi chefs at Hayashi Hibachi? I will NEVER trust them, NEVER! I have yet to see a chef that actually aims flying food at patron's mouth and not just in their general direction. That being said, they do make some mean teppanyaki. I'm not all that impressed with their "show" because it's always the same (peeing little boy, fake spraying a customer, choo-choo train, throw some broccoli, chop in a semi-cool way, here's some cooking wine, throw some cooked protein *order varies) and their knife skills are rather basic... but again, they make some mean teppanyaki. The last time I was here I decided I just wanted sushi, but my husband wanted hibachi. I'm sure that's annoying for the chef, but the place wasn't really that packed and it wasn't like we were going to eat separately. The chef commented on it a couple of times... okay, I get it. Anyway, the sushi was good, but a little overpriced. Ordering was a little strange because they call the nigiri "sashimi", but also have actual sashimi on the menu. Even the waiter had to ask for clarification. The teppanyaki is delicious, but the show can lose its luster after you've gone more than once. The sushi is good, but I wouldn't go just for that. The waiters kind of disappear when you're in the hibachi area, but that's expected since the chef is right there. All in all, a good choice for a fun dinner once in a while. read more
