Not a chain (nationally), but a well known "chain" here in El Paso as I feel they now have 5 locations? The service is great as always, Sunny's runs a tight ship usually. The ambiance is "typical" Sunny's, just a tad more modern as this is their newest location. Food is great! Love it. It's getting a bit pricy... but that's everything I suppose; Ex. Sorry no pics, just forgot, and was talking a lot. So first time at this location. We had Tx to a play so we decided to go have dinner first and this was near the EPCC Transmountain theater Playhouse we were going to. This place is HUGE to me compared to the Viscount location. Beautifully decorated, lots of Japanese symbolism, very cool lights, a cherry blossom tree inside, which I'm almost sure is fake but it's still cool, wait till the lights come on!! We both got the same, hibachi fillet with shrimp, but I got fried rice and she got steamed. And we got some vegetable Tempura. They brought out our miso soups with seaweed and tofu and I always like the slightly saltiness of this. It's so slight, it makes me think am I really eating something? I love it. Then what I call cucumber kimchi. Oh it was SOO good today, haven't had it ages. Very cold, nice thicker slices of cucumbers and the spices, wow! Then our orders came, looked and smells phenomenal. I started in and shrimp were nice and hot, plump and plentiful. Next I went for the fillet. Hmm kinda tough. Next bite, kinda chewy... next, gristle and sinew. I ask my partner how her fillet was. She says perfect. I say I think I got steak not fillet. Let me have a bite of hers... I take it, OH my gosh , melt in your mouth heaven. I mean she does order rare and I got medium rare, but that's not much of a difference in a fillet. And a fillet should not have gristles and sinew or be chewy.. I gave her a piece of mine... "yeas, she says"'you just got some kind of steak" but the clock was already moving closer to curtain time and it took long enough to get food the first time so I didn't say anything. I just and chewed, spit out what I could not eat, and moved on.The Vegetable tempura was good, our rice was good, the veggies were a slight issue again, she mostly got carrots and a little zucchini and broccoli, I got NO broccoli, a lot of zucchini, and barely any carrots. So whoever at this location is in charge of last check for quality and accuracy before the plates go out, seemed to have fell don on the job today, at least with us, ordering the same thing going to the same table. I know they were busy, it was about. 4:45 or so when we arrived. The dining room filled while we were there and a line was waiting for tables when we left, compared to that we were seated immediately when we arrived. We will probably come back again because it is close to my friends house, but I'm gonna make sure if I order And pay for fillet mignon, I actually get fillet mignon next time! read more

Me and my husband always go to this place whenever we crave sushi and it never disappoints until today. I ordered to go and asked for Salmon Sashimi from the appetizer plate (6 pieces) and they gave us 6 pieces of Salmon Sushi. The waiter who took our order even repeated twice with me that it's sashimi from the appetizer plate.. I don't know where did the miscommunication come from. read more

Waited 50 minutes for sushi order. Server came by once. Sushi came with no wasabi or ginger. Had to ask for it. Table had no soy sauce. For a place with multiple locations, this place is run like amateur hour. Wasabi was runny. Manager on cellphone moat of the time i was there. Worst experience in a while. read more

My work sent me to El Paso and I was craving some sushi. I saw Sunny's was well-reviewed and there were several locations in El Paso. The restaurant was in a strip mall and ended up being much larger than I expected. It was a pretty nice sushi place (compared to what I've experienced in Nashville) and was nicely decorated. There were a lot of people in the restaurant on a Saturday night but the wait wasn't too long. If you like sushi, there are many many options with a select handful of them visually appearing on the menu. I had a hard time choosing because there were so many choices. I'm very simple when it comes to sushi. I don't like fried rolls or rolls with cooked fish in them, rather I like them with just one or two fish selections with minimal additions. The rolls were nicely sized and the fish tasted fresh. Unfortunately I don't know what kind of rolls I got because there's a plethora of specialty rolls (two pages worth). If you're looking for sushi, this is a good spot. read more

Becoming a regular here, it can be popular so I always try to go during off hours. So far I've tried a lot of different Japanese and Korean things on the menu and everything has been amazing, waitresses are always super friendly and attentive too whether I'm a solo customer or with others, or whether it's off hours or peak times. Best sushi I've had in El Paso that's consistently great, and such a beautiful restaurant too. read more

Ambiance- the interior was very aesthetic and clean, loved the high ceilings and open warehouse concept and artwork Staff&Service-our waiter was so attentive and checked in often but not too often just the right amount :) service was prompt Food- all our meals came with miso soup and pickled cucumber! The pickled cucumber was very good and refreshing. We ordered 2 appetizers (hamachi with jalapeño and combo tempura) The tempura was the perfect mix of light and crispy, Loved the shrimp and green bean the most; the hamachi was pretty fresh and the sauce with the jalapeño gave it a nice kick! Also ordered several rolls- the sauces overall were pretty salty but otherwise good rolls. Would probably ask for the sauce on the side or just a light spread next time!! Overall a good experience with good food! Will come back with family and friends :) read more

Thank you sweet baby Jesus! The Northeast has their own Sunnys Sushi! So much yes! I was so stoked to find out it finally opened! My fiancé and I are absolutely obsessed with this place and ever since we spotted their location off the 54, we have been on the edge of our seats. Beautifully put together as expected! Much more hip and chic than some of the original spots but not any less in demand! I came to grab me and my bestie a booth for lunch around 12:30 and it was almost packed but I was lucky enough to grab the last booth. At first, the boy at the check in stand was happy to seat me in the booth but a manager came up behind and had to correct him that booths should only be for a party of 4 and a party of 2 should be seated along the patio. I would like to see the policy for that one day. Luckily the guy was nice enough to keep persuading her to let us sit there. Aside from that SNAFU, me and my bestie happily ordered some of our favorite lunch specials, had yummy sushi, and laughed over the dumbest things as any lunch date would go. The place has the same vibe as all the other Sunny's so not much difference there. The service was quick but also still training. The food was pretty good. I got a rainbow roll and a volcano roll along with the lemon yuzu mousse cake. It came out quickly and was nice and fresh. read more

This is an extremely late review lol. I went here on February 10th, my birthday to celebrate. It was a busy Saturday night but there was only 2 of us so we were sat down pretty quickly. I loved the decor and vibe in here. Our waiter was super friendly and helpful, and suggested a sake for us. We ordered two rolls for appetizers and then ordered teppanyaki plates for entress. The food was great, very fresh and flavorful. The only thing that was kinda disappointing was that they don't cook the teppanyaki in front of you, its done back in the kitchen and that honestly is one of my favorite parts of going to a restaurant like this. We ordered takeout versus dine in. The food was not anything to write home about. The steak was way overcooked and hard. The fried rice had no flavor. The shrimp was cooked well but no seasoning. The instructions that were typed in online were not honored. Overall, the food was average. The prices of their entrees are expensive and I do not think it is worth the money. Had we dined in the bill would have easily been $100. I know everything is more expensive nowadays but it's disappointing the quality hasn't improved with the prices. read more

We've gone here several times over the past year. Love the geisha roll, Hawaiian roll, caterpillar roll, and the lion king roll. They are incredible. The fish is always perfect. Sashimi and nigiri always are greats cuts of fish and they taste decadent. I love the salmon they ship in. We order takeout often but when we've gone in it's so much fun! We get miso soup and kimchi cucumbers for free! Not to mention, their prices are actually pretty fair for our inflation currently AND the quality of the rolls. There are two other sushi places in the north side over here and they are awful compared to Sunny's. We love you guys, keep doing what you're doing. read more

I had a great time here. The workers all seemed happy and were very nice and attentive. There's bar seating, tables, and booths. Nicely decorated. The food and drink I got were delicious. I got the salmon sashimi and dragon roll. Good portions for both and for desert I got the fried ice cream which was a huge portion. Had to take a star away. My other review was a five star. The kids and I really like the kimchi the small bowl they give for the table. It's not enough for all of us tand is one of the main reasons the kids would come here, but unfortunately, now they charge for more kimchi with the prices being on the higher side it's going to keep us from coming back unfortunately. I've been to this restaurant multiple times and every time I go whether its in a group of two or in a large group of 8 the service is impecable. I've had Cynthia as my server on multiple occasions and she's been outstanding. She's so timely and acknowledges our needs and questions we may have about the menu or certain requests. I placed an order to go and was told it would take 20 minutes. I arrived a couple of minutes after it was supposed to be ready. It looked pretty quiet in there. Maybe about 5 tables. Hostess told me it would a few more minutes before the food would be ready. I told her that was fine and had a seat at the bench next to the front door. It was another 30 minutes before anyone came back to talk to me. The hostess apologized and told me that there was a problem with one of my orders and it would take a little bit longer. She asked if I would like a glass of water while I waited. I told her no thank you, but I would like my food that I had ordered almost an hour ago. She told me that they would get it out ASAP. I sat back down for another 15 minutes before a waitress came out and put the bags of food down to go through and see if all of the food was there. It was but I later found that the tempura sauce and the dressing for the salad hadn't been placed inside their respective containers. I thanked her and told her that I appreciated all that her and the hostess had done and that they did all that they could do, but that I was a bit disappointed that the manager (who had been sitting down tallying the receipts the whole time) did not come over to explain what was happening. There were long stretches where I did not know what was taking so long. She looked taken aback by this and apologized again and said that she will tell him right now. As I was leaving out the door, I did see her telling the manager. While the hostess and waitress handled what they could, the best they could, the manager was severely lacking in customer service. I live in the NE and want to support the businesses that have moved out to this side of town, but I think Sunny's will be a no-go for a while. read more

My husband and I we had lunch at Sunny's sushi Gateway. I was very impressed with decor and atmosphere. Mari server greet us at the door sat us at a table right away. My husband ordered bento box and I had the same. And our food was great and delicious. Mari did an awesome job as our waitress. Never had to ask for anything drinks stayed refilled and she brought out takeout boxes. She is what customer service is all about. Food tastes great unfortunately the lack of service really ruins the entire experience. My husband and I walked into the restaurant around 5pm. Being the only customers in the restaurant we were greeted quickly although, after receiving our food we were not acknowledged again until requesting our ticket.
