The batter is light and airy even though it's fried, and you can taste that it's their own custom cornmeal blend. The okra was a standout. Not slimy, not mushy, held its shape, perfectly fried. That alone tells me they know their technique. The gravy with the cornbread is unreal. The kind you keep dipping into even after you're full. Comfort food done correctly, not rushed, not lazy.
