Wow are these prices for BBQ meats on rice so amazingly low! And super delicious too! One meat on steamed rice with steamed broccoli is only $5. Two meats is $6! I got BBQ pork which was juicy and roasted pork with the beautiful, crispy skin! Tasted so good. Service was fast but was difficult at first communicating what I wanted to the Chinese staff. But figured it out for next time. And it's a tiny place so it's only take out. Definitely coming back as it reminds me of old days in Chinatown in Toronto and getting low deals for delicious lunches! I actually discovered this place from TiKTok reviews. There are also other BBQ places right next to Kong Kee so I want try them too.

Roast Pork and BBQ Pork with Rice and Soup - 6.00 Excellent flavour with good cuts of meat, nice presentation. The service was efficient but not so friendly, hence the mediocre rating.

Takeout during Covid 19. $6 for a 2 meat lunch box with a soy milk, probably the best deal in town. Back again for meat only take out. BBQ Pork was moist and with a nice honey glaze. Soy sauce chicken was healthy and lean. Face covering is mandatory and all the customers were observing social distancing. The store is small and always has a queue. The line though moving fast.

As a person who is non-Chinese I definitely have to give it up to my friends who are, for bringing me here. I came here earlier in the year and forgot how good it is until recently, when I went to randomly grab a quick bite from this place. It's located in small plaza at mcnicol and midland, small shop (take out kind of place) I got the roast pork and bbq pork on rice with veggie and soup (you can also opt for soy milk) for $5. AGAIN best bang for your buck, it's amazing ! Honestly nowhere in there is it written in english the prices (unless I've missed it each time I've been) so just know you can get a solid $5 meal.

This place is one of 2 other Chinese BBQ takeout in the same plaza. This place however constantly has a line up outside the door. For starters, they have chinese BBQ rice takeout lunch set for $5!! That prices includes a soy milk or soup, tax included! I ordered a roast pig for a special occasion and the meat was crispy, not overly salty nor greasy. My only complaint of this place is the owner's wife service!! She is extremely rude even when asking common inquiries regarding orders. Her husband, the one that does the chopping is a way nicer guy.

Good quality BBQ meat, price is very reasonablelineup most the time lineup but it goes pretty quick. One day pre order baby BBQ Pig, recommended

This is one of the best Hong Kong BBQ place in Toronto. While I totally agree that their customer service isn't the greatest, especially the lady working next to the bald guy chopping the meat, but this is the Hong Kong style way of doing things and they just want to be as efficient as possible since there is ALWAYS a line up! Their $5 lunch boxes are a totally hit! It is cheap AND it includes a drink. There's nowhere else you can get BBQ meat with that price. The meats are delicious, not too salty so I always come here to either get the BBQ pork, the roasted pork or the chicken. They also serve other marinated things like Tofu and other meats but they always run out. On another day, I got their sweet and sour pork for $5. It was filled to the brim but the taste was only mediocre. Here's a tip: While you are waiting in line, try to see the menu that is on the side wall and up in the front and decide what you want to get BEFORE it is your turn to order. The place is SUPER tiny. Don't be the one to hold up the line or else you will get yelled at by both the bald guy and the lady. Also, their English is limited, so it would be best if you knew certain phrases or words of the things you want beforehand. Come here if you are craving some BBQ meat.

Line up out the door during lunch and dinner rush.

This plaza is probably one of most concentrated plaza of Chinese BBQ places in the GTA with 3 stores all in the same area but of the three, Kong Kee always seems to be the busiest and the main reason is their $5 boxed lunches. For $5 flat you get 2 choices of BBQ meat, veggies, rice and a choice of drink or soup with your meal. Seriously? No wonder why they are always busy! I can feed my entire family and still have money left over for a movie!! The skin of the roast pork is really crispy and the meat tender. The BBQ pork is also very good and not too fatty which I like. It's not as good as my beloved Kum Hong in Richmond Hill but for the price, the value is excellent for what you get. Very good place for Chinese BBQ in the area. 4/5!

    - not so nice customer service - visit on Thursday July 19, 2018 between 13:30 and 14:00 EST - ran out of BBQ chicken, ran out of cha siu (bbq) pork, ran out of red sausage, no more soft drinks - ran out of soy beverage - portioning of price paid, fair - ordered 2 bbq item (soy sauce chicken and roasted pork) with rice for $5.00, tax seems to be included or left out..since I paid $5 flat. Date visited : Thursday July 19, 2018 Based on the time I visited to fill my bbq meat craving, they seem to have run out of a lot of the bbq meat offerings. Now I am uncertain if they replenish their bbq meat offerings later in the afternoon or if it is just the one batch for the entire day until they run out. I think if you want to have a better selection of the bbq meats, you might have to show up before lunch time (12 noon). One time my wife and I tried stopping here after I had picked her up from work (6pm) and they were completely out of all bbq meat offerings..so we ended up with sweet and sour pork take out for $4.99. Service : don't expect great service here, also staff English speaking skills are a little lacking. The counter staff is kinda on the rude side as well, so be careful. Food : Wife and I enjoyed the roast pork (tender meat, skin still semi-crispy even after 4-5 hours), soy sauce chicken was kinda "normal" as everywhere else. Still looking forward to try their cha siu (bbq) pork. Have to try and get to Kong Kee before 12pm sometime in the near future. Value for money spent : For $5.00 and for what you get is fair. Not quite enough for sharing between my wife and myself, good portioning for the rice. If you are looking for a larger portion of protein offering head to Ho Ho Bbq 2-3 doors down. Larger portioning for 2 item bbq + rice & some veggie for $7.00. Still 2 of the better deals around for under $10.00 pre-tax. Repeat visits : of course!

I was in the neighbourhood past weekend and wanted to buy some Chinese BBQ. Was planning to go to Ho Ho which in the same plaza. But I saw lineup outside Kong Kee, I decided to give it a try! For $5 you can have 1 kind of BBQ and rice, plus soy milk/soup/soft drink. It is really good deal! I had char siu with rice. The meat is very tasty, not too much fat. Portion is huge for the money you paid. I also get half roasted duck ($10.5) , they are delicious too. Skin is crispy and meat is fatty (I prefer fatty duck). Owners are very nice people too. Highly recommend this place! I will come back and try roast pork!

Roast pork and duck, side order of bok choi, with soya milk. $6. Fresh, delicious, good deal

Fresh and tasty BBQ pork and roast duck, side order of bok choi, on a bed of rice, includes soya bean milk, for $6. This reminds me of trips down to Dundas/Spadina when I was a kid. Simple food, delicious, fast. Canto or English only, no Mandarin. Love it. Service was fast and efficient, not much for chit chat. Order took less than 2 minutes! Simple menu of 6 items or so. Definitely will go back for more. Pandemic rules: Only one person inside, queue waits outside.

Very decently well priced take out boxes! I had their BBQ Pork and roasted duck combo with rice and a drink, which came out to $5 after taxes. Their portions were pretty generous and considering the fact that nearby places charge closer to $7-8 for a take out box. Their meat was marinated quite well and not too salty. Kong Kee is one of the best places I've had Chinese BBQ meats!

The posters outside caught my eye, and I decided to come back with a group of three friends to try it out. We came a bit late around 8 PM, and most of the fish were already sold out except the original. We ended up ordering the Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($40), a whole fish served bubbling hot with three toppings (potatoes, spam, and lotus root). You can choose between catfish and turbot, we chose the turbot fish. It looked extremely spicy, but the spice level was actually perfect. It was a bit on the oily side, but pairing it with rice balanced it out nicely. The fish was very tender and buttery, everything tasted amazing! We also ordered the Stir-Fried Egg with Tomato. The eggs were soft, the tomato sauce was rich. Not to mention the portion size was huge, we even had leftovers after eating until we were full. The restaurant itself was spacious, clean, and had plenty of seating. I think they were doing some sort of promotion so they gave us a $25 off coupon, though it expired pretty quickly so we didn't get to use it. I'd definitely come back for that grilled fish.

This is a new Chinese restaurant featuring Hunan and Szechuan cuisine. The spicy dishes emphasize…read morespiciness, not numbness. A few of their dishes come out on a sizzling plate with flames underneath. They are still in soft-opening mode with several specials. You can see the menus via a QR code. The Hunan cuisine is listed as "Hunan Noodles" and the Szechuan cuisine is listed as "Chopfire Menu". The Szechuan dishes are listed with 1 to 3 chilies representing the spiciness. If you can't handle spicy, then avoid eating the chili pieces and you might "survive". The restaurant decided to minimize their food offerings so that they can focus on refining their dishes in terms of quality and taste, including from customer feedback. We ordered the following: 1. Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($39.95). 2. Home Stir Fried Beef ($21.95). 3. Bullfrog with Baby Ginger ($19.95). 4. Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Preserved Pork ($15.95). 5. Drunk Oolong (charcoal roasted oolong tea base) x 2 ($5.95 x 2). 6. Lemon Taro Balls ($7.95). We also saw the following: 7. Stir-Fried Sliced Pork with Green Pepper Noodle Soup ($9.99). First 10 customers each day, only pays $1.00. 8. Ink Painting Cocktail ($5.95). The Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish came out on a huge sizzling platter. The BBQ Fish, a Turbot Fish, was very fresh and flaky, easily coming off the bone. There is no head attached like at typical Chinese restaurants but it would not have fit in the platter. The platter had a delicious sauce (soupy consistency and not sweet), luncheon meat slices, lotus root slices, and two other vegetables, along with chili pieces. The entire dish tasted great together with the various flavours. The menu listed it as 2-chili spicy but I could handle it by avoiding the chili pieces. The Home Stir Fried Beef is tender. It is listed as 3-chili but I could handle it by avoiding the chili pieces. The Bullfrog with Baby Ginger has the bullfrog cut up in little pieces; no you don't see a whole frog! The meat was actually good but most pieces have bones in it, so it takes time to eat it carefully. There was ginger slices in it but it, but we thought the slices were quite large! The Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Preserved Pork was very delicious! It came in a sizzling plate. The Cauliflower was flavourful and was not crunchy and not too soft. I've never had preserved pork slices before; it was quite good, not as salty as Chinese preserved vegetables. The Drunk Oolong has comes in a small bowl a with gin and ice. On the side, they include pieces of the charcoal roasted oolong tea leaves so you can smell it; quite a good smell indeed. You can also order it without the gin, which is what I ordered for mine (since I don't drink alcohol). It was such a nice drink! The Lemon Taro Balls dessert was pretty. In the centre was a slice of lemon. The customer service was good. There is plenty of indoor table and counter seating, including a small private room at the back. There is also an outdoor patio during warmer weather. There is pop music playing in the background. There is no free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There are two gender-neutral washrooms downstairs, so they are not wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2025-026
