Planned to meet some friends from out of town last week and couldn't have made a better decision picking up food from here. They make it easy because we were able to place an order online for pickup a couple hours before they opened for when we planned to meet around 12:30pm. Wifey was able to jump out real quick while I double parked to grab the order. Place was super busy with a bunch of delivery drivers picking up orders. Ended up picking up the Salmon in Truffle Soy Ikura Obento and Duck Breast Obento. The salmon Obento was delicious! Definitely didn't disappoint. The duck breast was good but not great. Next time we go, I'd probably just order one of the other salmon obentos. Overall a great choice to pickup and enjoy in the newer parks in the Presidio with some of the amazing weather we lucked out with last week.

I decided not to order online and came at 5:30 for a walk-in unfortunately they were sold out of the salmon, but I got the other salmon box and it was pretty good.
We came right when it opened and good thing we did because there was a long line forming outside. We ordered at the kiosk, but it did take us a while because we didn't know where a physical menu was. But I had a good idea of the menu because it was so popular online. We ordered the salmon truffle oil bento, and also the strawberry Matcha latte. The drink came out first and it was so delicious. I would say it's one of the best Matcha I've ever had. The Matcha was very creamy. It was a really good and strong flavor. You definitely need to mix the drink first before you taste it. It didn't say how long the bento would take, but they said it usually takes about 20 minutes for them to make the bento. But the bento came with one corn rib, some cherry tomatoes, bean, sprouts, wasabi salmon, rice, potato salad, some pickled cucumbers, and then your main protein. I must say it was a very good bento. It was quite expensive, but I do want to try their duck next time. There is no seating inside. It's more of a waiting room for you to get your order. I'm not sure where most people eat, but I took it down near the boardwalk so it's a great place to just order and bring your food to somewhere else.
Make sure you get there at least 30 minutes before open because of the lines and items selling out. Their matcha is so good and while the bento box may look a bit plain, the flavor is definitely there. Suuuuch a good spot but definitely pricey. There is very limited seating and food/drinks take a bit to come out (but the drinks come up before the food). We ended up walking to a park nearby to be able to sit and eat given how crowded it was in the amount of traffic and limited seating/eating space but a lot of places are like that in the city
This spot has been on my list forever, but I hadn't realized that you could order in advance! I placed an order the evening before to pick up near opening time, and I got a text saying my food/drink was ready exactly at the pickup time! The store was pretty small and crowded so it was really nice to be able to be in and out quickly through the online order. There wasn't any seating so we took our food to the nearby Marina Green. I ordered the Salmon in Truffle Soy Obento and Matcha Latte (regular whole milk, zero sugar). For all the hype this place gets, the matcha didn't really blow me away, not sure if I agree that this is the best in the city. I did love the bento box however, pretty generous portions that left me quite full, and the various sides of potato salad, veggies, and sweet potato were really fun. Loved the salmon, but am not the largest fan of truffle flavor in general so may try a different dish next time (chicken chashu bento, salmon ochazuke, salmon flake bento). Interested to try their hojicha drink too.
Perfect place to grab some drinks and food for a picnic. We placed an online order and timed it so that it would be ready when we got there. It wasn't until I got there that I wanted to order matcha powder. I noticed that it was cheaper to place the order online than to buy in store. Just fyi. The matcha was so freaking delicious as well as the bento box. It was the perfect combo for a warm and sunny SF afternoon. Don't expect to be able to enjoy your matcha in the cafe. It's mainly for people waiting for their order to be ready, but there are definitely walkable places to go to. I can't wait to come back to try a diff matcha combo next time!
3.5 stars. Tried their Matcha Latte with Cheese Foam [4/5] and their Duck Ochazuke [6/5 - would highly recommend!]. The matcha latte is pretty good, though I think some other places in the city have better matcha. The duck ochazuke was HEAVENLY and I devoured the entire meal within minutes! The slices of duck are super tender and the broth + rice combo is sooo good. My nitpicks revolve solely around the logistics. I felt so bad asking for an order update from the workers who were already piled up to their elbows in drink orders. Below is a long elaboration of things that could be improved. - The establishment is really small. I went on a Tuesday for lunch time (around 12:30pm) and the place was packed entirely full with a 10-person line at the ordering kiosk and at least 30 people trying to pick up online/delivery orders. - My online order was 20 minutes late (scheduled an hour in advance) and was never updated properly; I had to manually check each order as it was placed on the table. - I wish they had done a better job of announcing orders when they were done, especially going back to announce orders that were just left sitting on the counter for 30+ minutes. There was a group of girls that waited outside for 45 minutes just to realize their drinks had been ready for ages and left on the counter without an announcement. - It might be really beneficial to install a TV screen with order numbers & their status. tldr; The drinks are okay. The food is AMAZING. The service is friendly but logistics need massive improvement during peak hours.
On our day in SF, I knew I wanted to start it off with matcha, and Komeya No Bento was my first pick! I'd seen it all over social media so wanted to see what the hype was about. Since we knew it was going to be busy, we placed an online order ahead of time. I ordered the regular iced matcha latte with 75% sweetness and added the mochi topping. When we arrived, our order was ready to go, and omg when I tried it, one of the best matcha lattes I've had! It was the right amount of sweetness with a strong matcha flavor. The mochi topping was another highlight, it was soft, chewy, and such a unique addition that made the drink even more enjoyable. Overall, I can definitely see why this place is quite popular. The matcha lived up to the hype, and I would come back the next time I'm in SF. The prices were also reasonable for the quality you're getting too.
I've been wanting to try this place for soooo long. So many people have told me to try it. The weird opening hours was always got me. Everytime I was in the neighborhood they were sadly closed. Finally ordered from them and the hype is real! I totally understand. The food and matcha is soooo goood! I went with the salmon in truffle soy bc this girl loves truffle and was so good. If it was all salmon and rice I would've been happy. I appreciated the sides. The Salmon Ikura Ochazuke was my absolute favorite. The broth was so flavorful and went with the flavored rice and everything else in that dish. Everything tastes so fresh and delicious. I also got the salted cheese foam matcha latte which yes is sooo good as well. Prob my top in the city along with Mariwu. Overall, it's pricey but def worth the treat!! Def would come again and again.

I think a lot of the wait in line was from people just scrolling through the kiosk though, so I'd recommend deciding what you're gonna get before getting to the kiosk. I finally got to try the salmon in truffle soy and it was SO delicious. The salmon was so smooth and I loved the truffle soy taste. The rice was also cooked so well, I liked how sticky it was. I got the box one with ikura, and I loved how that tasted too. The box also came with sides, and my favorites were the crispy sweet potato and grilled corn rib :p Will 100% be getting this again! As for the matcha, it was unfortunately underwhelming. I did get the iced matcha straight with no sugar, but the matcha powder was sooo grainy and clumpy at the bottom. It tasted like it wasn't mixed in well. Maybe I'll try one of the lattes next time with some sugar. A pretty small store, but a lot of people do just take out, so it wasn't too difficult to get a spot inside to eat. The workers all seem very sweet despite how chaotic the store could get.
The line forming right at opening on a Saturday should tell you everything you need to know about how people feel about this place -- and after trying it myself, I get it. My partner and I arrived right when they opened and there was already a solid queue, so come prepared for a little wait. Totally worth it though for the right drinks. We got the Strawberry Matcha and the Matcha Latte with Sea Salt Foam. The Strawberry Matcha was delicious and a great example of what they do really well -- the fruit matchas here shine and the strawberry flavor paired beautifully without overpowering the matcha. If fruity matcha drinks are your thing, this is your spot. The Matcha Latte with Sea Salt Foam was enjoyable but didn't quite hit the same way. The sea salt foam was a nice touch, but the matcha flavor itself was on the subtle side -- if you're someone who likes a bold, matcha-forward drink you might find yourself wanting more. Still good, just not the standout of the two. I'll definitely be back, but I'm taking my own advice and skipping the weekend rush next time. And next visit I'm adding a bento box to the order because it felt wrong to leave without trying the food.
Came on a Friday around 1 pm and there was quite a long line so we ordered online. We were quoted a 20 min wait but after more than 20 mins had passed, we had to check with the staff. The inside was so chaotic and cramped and it actually took more than 30 mins to get our drinks from ordering. Wait and chaos aside, the matcha was delicious and high quality. I really enjoyed my drinks but not sure if it's worth the wait. -Matcha latte with matcha foam (4.5/5): strong and very matcha forward, not bitter, 75% sweetness was perfect -Matcha latte with salted cheese foam (4/5): not overly cheesy or salty which I liked, the matcha flavor tasted less strong but still shined through, 75% sweetness was a good sweetness too
I have had so many matchas in the Bay Area, but it was never as good as Komeya No Bento's. The matcha was creamy and perfectly sweeten with the strawberry purée. I recommend the strawberry matcha (10/10) for first-timers. My boyfriend got the mango matcha (9/10) and that was also delicious as well - great flavoring with the mango purée! I think the matcha here is one of the best because the strawberry milk is creamy and flavorful, but doesn't overpower the matcha. They put the perfect amount of matcha, which mixes in well with the rest of the drink without losing the matcha taste. Even when the ice melts into the drink, the matcha does not lose its taste and creaminess. I love that this store sells sushi bento boxes as well. I got the salmon in truffle soy bento (9/10) and it was so good! The salmon was flavored perfectly with the truffle oil and their house made yuzu soy sauce. The deep fried corn was surprisingly really flavorful (it was my favorite side in the bento). They also had another sides including potato salad, bean sprouts, cherry tomatoes, and pickled cucumbers, which were really good additions to the bento as well. Great portion size for 1 person! Overall, my experience with the food at Komeya No Bento was amazing, and I have no complaints. The workers were really nice, answered all our questions and gave good recommendations, and our drinks came out quick! It's a really small and quiet shop with a couple seats to wait and eat, but it is such a nightmare trying to find parking in the area... but it's really worth it! I will definitely have to try their other bento boxes and matcha drinks when I am in the area next time!

Came here on Saturday around noon and it was packed. Line was out the door but it was orderly. Everyone working there was hustling and cranking out drinks and bentos as fast as they could despite a huge crush of both in store kiosk orders and online pick up orders. I got the truffle salmon bento. It was beautifully packaged and very fairly priced imo. Super yummy and fresh! There's technically bench seating inside but not a comfortable eating environment, so definitely a to-go spot. The only downside is that because the inside is tiny, it gets super packed and a bit chaotic with people waiting to order and people milling about waiting for their order. Not the fault of Komeya No Bento, of course, but just a heads up in case you get claustrophobic. I would definitely come back again (just not on the weekend). read more

Came with my friend to try out this place! My friend had come before for matcha but we wanted to come try out the food! We got two of the salmon bentos to share - one was the salmon truffle soy and the other was a cooked salmon topped with house sauce. Both were very delicious and came with a plethora of side dishes: tomatoes, cucumbers, peppered bean sprouts, corn rib, and potato salad! I actually like the potato salad - it had cabbage and carrots as well in it. The service was great as well - we ordered at the self order kiosk and got our food pretty quickly. Only downside is that the place is quite small and has very limited seating! The place is close to various parks though, so we just walked over and sat somewhere to eat :) read more

Amazing quality matcha! Came on a Friday afternoon and saw the line so we ordered online. We were quoted 20 minutes for our 2 drinks but it was very busy so we had to check ourselves inside which was very chaotic, even with the workers doing their best to keep up with all the orders. It ended up being almost 30 minutes from ordering to finally receive our drinks. I loved it but not sure if it was worth the wait and chaos... Matcha Latte with Matcha Foam (4.5/5): super strong and matcha forward. The 75% sweetness was perfect Matcha Latte with Salted Cheese Foam (4/5): not overly cheesy or salty which I liked! I've probably come here over 10 times. Every time I get the same reaction: the drinks are so consistent. I always get the strawberry matcha, and it's thick and creamy, which is how I like my matcha. The take-home bentos are also yummy. The fish and the meat are always fresh. The flavor combinations are very interesting, kind of like a fusion, if you like that. The place is really small, and there is limited seating, so I usually go to Presidio Tunnel Tops to eat, which is very close by. Overall, one of my favorite spots in SF. read more
4.5/5 Stopped by for a tasty takeout lunch! Got the Truffle Salmon (RAW) and had them remove the gluten sides. The staff was so kind and helped notify the staff of the request. Looks like they gave me more potato salad to cover the loss of the other items. That was kind! I also ordered the mango matcha! It was so creamy and delicious. Excited to try more things here. There's not much inside seating but you can walk a block or so and get to a cute park! read more
This is a small location by Lombard Street. They have very limited seating but they have delicious Bento and matcha's. Matcha is probably their bread and butter but I came here for the food and the food die not disappoint. Very fresh fish. Full of flavor, different textures that combine really well together. Definitely worth the price. read more
Bentos and matcha (add mochi!) were yummy but definitely pricey. High quality matcha, and liked you could control sweetness in the latte (not the strawberry latte though). Liked the Ochazuke rice soup more than I thought I would. Very pretty meal though, nice park to walk to and sit at! read more
Oh my god I got the Mango Milk Matcha Foam and the matcha was so smooth took me right back to Japan, and they did a great job balancing the mango with matcha, usually fruits tend to overpower the matcha. 11/10 drink. I also tried my friends regular matcha latte, but tbh it felt watered down, so don't know if they just have a consistency problem but I'd risk it and try their matcha fs. read more
The best matcha in SF imo. They're always consistent with their drinks and their food bentos are so good. Salmon truffle soy is one of our faves and duck breast is good too. I came back to Komeya No Bento to give it another shot and to try their matcha. This time, I went with a few friends, and we each ordered a matcha and a bento. I don't like to leave harsh criticism or poor reviews, but unfortunately, my experience here was even worse this second time. My friends and I ordered at the same time, but for some reason, my order took so long. I watched as people behind me repeatedly received their food before me. And I did politely ask the worker to check on my order, to which the employee said they'd take a look. But then 30 minutes passed, and I was still waiting. They were starting to close up (they close at 2 PM), so I had to ask again...The employee said they'd check (again), and told me mine would be the next one out...I understand they were busy, so I don't want to be too harsh, but I ended up waiting at least 45 minutes. I think they forgot my order. I ordered a chicken chashu bento, and I'm pretty sure the chicken was raw. Even my friend pointed it out. I've attached a photo below, too. I just don't understand how they spent 45 minutes on my order, just for the chicken to come out raw. Honestly, the food was pretty flavorful, and I enjoyed my red bean mochi matcha, but between the excessive wait, the undercooked chicken, and the considerable price tag (these bentos aren't cheap), I don't see myself returning or recommending Komeya No Bento. read more
Okay where do I even begin?? I LOVE LOVE THIS PLC! It's all over TikTok and it truly deserves all the hype!! A bit pricy, bento was $27 and matcha is $8-$9. Only accept cash, order at kiosk. Food/drink ready within 20min. Limited seating but cute wooden seating/mini table stands. It's definitely a sit and chat or drop-in for lunch situation! Perfect if you're walking around and exploring the area. Parking is hard ofc. The truffle was rich and complimented the fresh fish. Rice wasn't reasoned. The concept is fairly simple. Could I remake it at home? Yes. But the assembly is phenomenal! The drink was delicious, but very sweet. Very creamy, I felt like I was consuming straight up cream, and less of a liquid matcha. There is oat and whole milk options. The mango was very fresh and tart. Overall, not a place I would go to all the time, just bc it's pricy. Incredible strawberry matcha. Creamy and sweet but not too sweet that it's sickly. You still get a nice matcha flavor without it being overwhelmed by the strawberry puree. Beware ready to wait in a line outside the store, but it's worth it. read more

First time trying this place recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint. I really liked their matcha drinks the best. It has that creamy taste without it tasting like grass. The matcha and other flavor ratio they have is just enough. The wait can range between 20-30 mins depending on how many people are waiting. There's not really much seating options inside. Mostly a take out place im my opinion. read more

Yummy! The boxes were beautiful and the chicken was perfectly crunch and the fish tasted so fresh. Super quick when you order from their website in advance otherwise there is a line and wait. Komeya is definitely one of the best matcha spots in SF! The mango matcha is divine and perfectly creamy and sweetened. I also really enjoyed the strawberry matcha as well. I was surprised to find that both of the fruity matchas did not taste artificial at all. I tried the salted cheese matcha which was not my favorite and I truthfully wouldn't get it again. I would highly recommend either the mango or the strawberry. The bento box was a little pricey for me, but the pieces of salmon were a lot bigger than I thought (the overlap is deceiving). I liked the combination of everything in the box, especially the sugary sweet potatoes. I'd recommend ordering ahead if it's the weekend, there will definitely be a wait. The service here is very kind and they're hardworking. There is limited seating in the place, but there's multiple parks nearby that are walkable and have seating. read more

Great quality fish, rice, and sides in the bento box. The food comes out relatively quick despite it being busy. I do recommend ordering head though. This is definitely a takeout vibe with super limited seating. Good matcha too. I would come back for sure. read more
5/5 for the duck breast bento and 3/5 for the matcha latte. I really liked the furikake on the rice and could eat the rice on its own because of how yummy it was. The duck was so tender and flavorful. I also liked the potato salad a lot. The glazed sweet potato added a nice sweet balance to the saltiness of the rest of the bento. I thought that the matcha latte was more milk than matcha. Also I got it with less ice so it wasn't as cold as I'd thought, but that was my mistake. I got lucky with when I went because a huge line formed right after I ordered. My bento was ready for pickup before the drinks. There's also only two small tables inside for eating and a bench for waiting. read more

Calling all my matcha lovers! You have to try this place! We ordered the Strawberry Matcha and the Red Mung Bean Matcha, and both were absolutely delicious--definitely a 10/10! The matcha was rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. They also offer food and snack boxes. I didn't order one this time, but now I'm definitely regretting it! I'll be back for more drinks and to try some of their food options. The service was quick, easy, and friendly. Definitely a spot I'm looking forward to visiting again! read more
The online ordering process was seamless, and only had to wait 10 more minutes before my food was ready. The quality of the matcha really stood out, they're generous with their Marukyu matcha, and it shows. The drink is easily a 5/5. Unfortunately, the bento box was underwhelming. It lacked visual appeal, and the salmon was sliced unusually thin, some of the thinnest I've had eaten locally. At $27, it didn't feel like a good value, and the sides were fairly unremarkable (a small piece of cold corn cob, potato salad, and a few cucumber slices). My friend ordered the salmon ochazuke, which also fell short, with very minimal toppings for $24. The photos honestly capture the experience better than word. The presentation and portions were just disappointing overall :( read more
This place is a smaller one but has seating for around 6-8 people. Ordering is done via kiosk and so is payment. They are cashless so that's something to consider. The drinks came out first and the matcha latte's were really good. Matcha flavor was legit! The salmon bento was tastier IMO compared to the duck but I think both were delicious. read more
Komeya No Bento shows up on the top of many SF locals' matcha lists and there's a reason why. Not only do they serve some of the creamiest matcha lattes I've ever tasted, but Komeya also serves killer bento boxes that appeal to both the tastebuds and the eyes. The small storefront is conveniently located near Fort Mason Park in the Marina so I would highly recommend taking your food and drink to picnic with a view of the Golden Gate! There is extremely limited seating inside the cafe, and most of the space is taken up by patrons ordering and waiting for their food. All of the workers were incredibly kind and courteous, and they really work hard in there with all of the demand. Will definitely be back! Strawberry matcha latte: Super creamy as I mentioned before, but the cream didn't overpower the great matcha flavor. Strawberry was not too sweet and tasted fresh. Salmon in Truffle Soy bento: Really well portioned bento, I loved all of the little side dishes they included. Salmon with truffle had a nice flavor and the overall aesthetic was beautiful. My only minor complaint is that everything was room temperature, but I guess that's to be expected with a to-go bento. read more
