Nice little Armenian bakery that serves all the usual goodies - Maneish Zahtars, Lahmajouns, Boreks, as well as their own version of 'Muhammara' (which I love and a must for me whenever I visit such establishment) and then some - such as their variety of baked sweets! I love the texture of the bread here compared to another nearby store. For example, the Zahtar and Lahmajoun are crispier and more 'toasty' (how we like it and how it should be) and not as 'doughy'. Most items are sold in bulk packing but the owner Mike was extremely accommodating since my wife is vegan and he realized we couldn't purchase more than we can use. I believe you can order what you want ahead of time for pickup so that's a huge plus. Will certainly come back to support him whenever we can since the Altadena fire has affected his business. Delicious flat breads at a great price. This small shop has the kindest people who make really tasty baked goods. Cash is preferable. The za'tar pizza is a combination of seasonings and herbs with oil. It's quite tasty but may be an acquired taste for some. The Armenian pizza is made of sweetened ground pork. It's one of my favorites. The pomegranate pizza is super popular and must be ordered ahead in a bulk order of 12. All pizzas can come in a mini 6" or 12". Delicious authentic bakery. Almost everything other than cookies are made daily. They run out of some items early. Order ahead so you are not disappointed. A coworker brought some in one day and I couldn't stop eating the mini pastry with the olives in it. Very tasty and good use of ingredients. Wasn't too salty or oily. You see that huge flat thing in the photos section? The cheese boreg? Yeah, it's like a foot long and about $3. They also sell a plate of about 7 mini boregs that cost $8. I went in at 1 PM on a Tuesday afternoon and they were alright out of huge flat spinach boregs. I ended up getting the spicy cheese one as well as some cookies. It was not bad, but the cheese wasn't as ooey gooey as I would have liked it to be. It was also very oily. Fortunately, the dough wasn't as overwhelming as the other boregs I've tried. Highly recommend stopping by. Happened to glance at the place as I was driving by and turned around to give it a shot. Glad I did. The smell in the small shop was enticing. The bread for both the fatayer (hope I'm using the correct name for the elongated triangular savory bread I purchased) and the manaeesh (again, hope I'm getting this right) was obviously fresh - very soft, still slightly warm. The sausage slices on the fatayer was slightly spicy and was delicious with the cheese they used. The manaeesh was aromatic and delicious. And I bought an assortment of cookies I look forward to trying later. The only reason I'm stopping short of 5 stars is because I've only been there once and I haven't yet tried the cookies. I love this place. Koko and family are the nicest people. I always pick up 2 to 3 dozen Lahmajoon AKA Armenian Pizza for the family and my co-workers. Everyone Loves it. They bake everything fresh, it comes out of the oven while you are there. It's really hard to drive back home and not open the box and start eating on the way home.. They have lots of small finger food type desert which is is awesome. There is plenty of street parking. I've tried Lahmajoon from everywhere in Pasadena, Glendale and Hollywood. We've been coming to Koko's for so long but today we're so disappointed. We went in at 9 am and got manaeish and realized it was so stale when we brought it home. We called in and asked if it was made today and he said it's from yesterday and continued to say what do you want us to do? Throw away the old ones? You don't need to throw it away, you can take it home -but don't sell to customers It's funny because in another review I read the owner say they let the client know if it's not fresh but no one informed us of that. This bakery knocked me off my feet, the minute I set foot inside...what an aroma! Smelled like heaven. Bought the spinach borek, (a dozen) the Lebanese "pizza" ( a bag of 10) and the date cookies. The cookies were so good they were dangerous. Best sweet treat I've had in many months! Tasted absolutely fresh and just like homemade, and oh...soft, and ....yum...delicious. I asked my husband to take them to work because I feared I would polish off the entire bag of 20. The spinach in the borek was incredible- perfectly seasoned. They melted in my mouth. The "pizza" was an excellent change for breakfast, toasted in the toaster oven, with a piece of fruit, a wedge of cheese and a cup of really good coffee. There's nothing better than that. I came and tried the cheese and spinach/cheese combo mini boregs. They come 12 in a pack. I bought 2 packs for myself. Yes, I'm a pig. Don't eat them on the drive home. Instead, throw them in the microwave for about 10 seconds, or toaster oven if you can wait that long, and eat them warm. Makes a world of difference, and brings out the flavor/texture of the cheese. I like that the lemon flavor is not overwhelming, unlike some other bakeries. Just personal preference. The spinach/cheese was delicious (better than just cheese, in my opinion).
