We got lucky and grabbed 6pm Saturday night rezzy by calling in. We are sushi aficionados and this place was pretty good. First off, it's definitely more affordable than Uchi. We had the enoki dashi, tuna tower, royal chutoro, el diablo roll and a pot of green tea all under 80$! Our favorite was the royal chutoro roll, which as it name implies was decadently delectable. The el diablo roll was recommended by another yelper and it did not disappoint. The tuna tower was mediocre in flavor but the portion was generous. We were hoping it would taste delicious but it was pretty bland and could use more apples and umami flavors. I wish they had brought the enoki spinach soup appetizer before all the food but it came last and we were pretty stuffed to enjoy it fully. Also, they served nori after the tuna tower but we didn't see it till the end because it was placed quietly on the side ‍. Overall, a great add to the montrose food scene but no valet and street parking is limited. Service is friendly, but would recommend they bring out appetizers before main courses. read more

Excellent fresh ingredients with awesome flavorful hot dishes on the menu. Everything tasted great. The hand rolls require unnecessary step of removing a plastic wrapper from the underlining seaweed (to keep the seaweed from getting soggy) but the quality of fish and rice was great. I unfortunately can't say the same for my second time around when I excitedly brought my fiance with me to try it out since we're both huge sushi fans. Dinner service has been great and attentive. Even while training a new server, our server was able to handle us. Our favorite was the handroll set. There have been several places in this building but the owners of Koi did an amazing renovation of the space. It's gorgeous inside. Quiet and romantic. Food is delicious and very reasonable cost as well. They have a great Happy Hour menu available until 6pm. The wait staff is great and very friendly. Very attentive. Restaurant takes reservations but you can walk in as well. On weekends, I'd def recommend a reservation but usually can get a seat without one through the week. However, as word of mouth has increased the place is getting busier which is great to see! Go check out Koi if you are a sushi/sashimi fanatic. You will be pleasantly surprised.
