We also have a bunch of home furnishing items that we need to put the finishing touches on a remodel of a 5,500 Sq ft home. When walking into the place, there were five people who appeared to work there. Not one got up to greet us!! Not one came to ask us questions or help us!! When I finally went to one of them to ask for a price on something that we wanted to purchase she told me to take my phone and go scan it for the barcode information and wasn't interested in helping me. I spoke to her because she walked from one desk to another and was the only person standing in the store! She actually literally sat down in the middle of telling me to go find the information myself!!! These people are completely unconscious to how they come across - like a den of socially maladjusted teenagers who are focused in on their video games and don't want human contact. Supporting customers like adults is not something that they have grown into. So, instead of buying the new home furnishings that we wanted (clearly seeing that the customer service we would get would be like pushing a rock) we walked out the door and will go elsewhere. This is a really neat shop, product selection wise, but who cares if you can't even get any help!

Really appreciate the staff on the other line for reaching out to me and "reserving" my spots unless I let them know I'm not interested! Getting here, there is the Meyden Garage that offers 3-hour free parking for customers of Whisk and other surrounding businesses though most spaces inside there did not have the signage saying that so it was confusing parking around there. Getting inside the building, you'll see what can only be described as a haven for chefs and aspiring cooks of all levels; you have cooking tools, pots and pans, cookbooks, plates, neatly folded cloth napkins and a bunch of other things strewn around in such a colorful and organized manner. The kitchen for our cooking class was clean and spacious, with all the ingredients we need prepped and set out in front of us. We worked in pairs prepping and cooking all our dishes throughout. Chef Thanh Tang was very informative and engaging throughout the whole process, and the other staff working with him were efficient in cleaning used utensils and keeping everyone's prepped items in check. Instructions were very clear, and directions flowed very well since we made one dumpling after another! Since both of us don't really cook and we had many questions to ask, it took us a bit to catch up with the rest of the class, but all the folding techniques became much easier to do thanks to our teacher. For this particular class, we pan-fried the shrimp and chive dumplings, while the wontons and steamed vegetable dumplings we prepped were steamed while we all took a break. As for the spicy green beans, I actually had the chance to stir-fry a non-spicy version of them in front of the class! All the food we made here was really good, and we came close to having to box some of it home too! Everything here was worth the $150 per person from the experience to the food, and I'd take another class here in the future! For reference, the class I took is called "More Dumplings, Dumpling?" and ran on a Saturday from 5:30-8:30pm though that's just a timeframe since I did stay slightly longer just to finish my food!

It was a fun experience. You show up and get greeted by their staff. You'll find your station and go to work! Some of the ingredients are pre-prepped which is nice otherwise you'd be there all night haha. The class was roughly 2 hours long and then we enjoyed dinner all together so roughly a 2.5 hour experience when it was all said and done. The fans kick in so it can be a tad bit loud when everyone is cooking but the instructor was great and made his way around the room to make sure everyone was doing what they were supposed to do. They had 2 additional staff members helping out to make sure any ingredients you needed were available. Plus - you get a glass of wine :) Fun date night!

She was warm, pleasant, and genuinely kind. She made eye contact with me right away and I think she could tell I was a little overwhelmed. I let her know that I was waiting for curbside and it had not shown up yet. She immediately jumped into action and offered to help me right away. She brought out the order quickly and then mentioned, in such a gentle and thoughtful way, that I might have been parked in the wrong area. She even offered to show me the correct place. I stepped outside and it turned out that it was my mistake, but she never made me feel bad or silly for it. This is the type of hospitality we need. Her warmth completely changed the tone of my visit and made the entire experience feel calm and stress free. Although I usually try to avoid the holiday crowds, I will absolutely be coming back to shop in person at this location. Knowing that people like Angela are here to guide the experience makes all the difference.

I found a great deal of a set of knives for just $26, and it was a steal! Some things were even locked up which was surprising, like literally blankets or bed sheets were needed for assistance. The place itself was MESSY. There was boxes on the ground that workers were unloading (i'd assume they unload after people leave/before the store opens) but no they were doing it right in the middle of a section, pretty inconvenient and messy. There were also random carts full of stuff from workers that were left abandoned and took SO much space. Home goods is already small and squished, no need for random carts to be in the middle of things. Overall, the place still had good finds, there was a lot of people on a Saturday, so i'd recommend coming by on a weekday.

After having our contractor pull out a glaringly mismatched pure-white trim, we were trying to keep things moving without compromising on the final look. We needed something that worked with our alabaster/ivory tile and Mapei Alabaster grout--and fast. We were immediately and thoroughly helped by the owner, who was not only knowledgeable but incredibly validating. She confirmed my instincts about the white-white trim looking cheap against our tile, even mentioning she doesn't stock it for that exact reason! I had started to feel like I was being too picky or difficult, but she reassured me I wasn't--and that meant a lot. She had multiple alternatives that looked significantly better, and she made a confident, trustworthy recommendation. She knew my tile, was familiar with the grout color, and--miracle of miracles--had exactly what we needed in stock and ready to go. I decided to go with 1st Ave because they were very responsive on the phone and email, and they were able to do the work faster than GS. I also really liked that the people at 1st Ave weren't pushy like at they were at some of the other companies. They came though with all they promised to do - called me when they were on the way to the job site, installed everything so all cabinets and drawers lined up and worked flawlessly, cut the quartz offsite and came back to install countertops, and cleaned up after themselves. I have been recommending them to friends and neighbours, and I would most definitely use them again.
