This bakery is featured in "How Do You Know" movie!

This bakery is featured in How Do You Know movie! Not sure if Hollywood recreated this as a set or actually filmed it in DC, but still very cool. The phone number on the bakery's window is the same in both the movie and real life.

Ehhhh - very uninviting establishment with what seems like a lot of clutter and poorly placed menus. I ordered a black tea & milk bubble tea that left a lot to be desired. I can't see myself visiting again or recommending this place.

a wedding cake with a bride and groom figurine

For an unassuming little bakery in Adams Morgan, Kogibow really blew us away with an amazing cake created for our wedding. Our needs were simple -- we just needed a sheet cake to feed 30 -- but the results were perfect. We brought in pictures of what we were looking for and they matched it exactly, and unlike many many wedding cakes I've eaten, this one was delicious. We probably should have planned to feed 60 instead of 30 because everyone wanted more. It was a great experience start to finish.

Fruit Cake

Ordered a cake from here for a friends birthday. Was delicious, inexpensive, and looked wonderful.

Happy Birthday, Captain America!

Guess I'm in the minority, but I'm actually not all that impressed by their boba tea. I hear the fruit-flavored ones are pretty good, but the taro, thai tea, and milk tea are barely tolerable. For good boba tea, you're better off heading down the street to Spoon. Their cakes, however, are splendid!! As another reviewer mentioned, they're Asian-style (the owners are Chinese-Vietnamese), meaning they're light, not too sweet, and taste just as delicious on Days 2, 3, and 4. The limited flavors are somewhat disappointing; they have vanilla, chocolate, tres leches, and maybe one more. But what they lack in variety of flavors, they certainly make up for in choice of designs. For you Captain America fans, check out my son's birthday cake, as well as the Avengers design that didn't make the cut for a joint, mixed-gender birthday party, for obvious reasons. Bon appetit! BTW, the "Gi" in KoGiBow is a soft G, as in giraffe.

Found Kogibow Bakery on Yelp and Facebook. Ordered a cake for my daughter's 1st birthday. The cake was super moist and delicious! Not too sweet with lots of fruits which was great! The owner was very nice and helped me find the right photo (Squirt in Finding Nemo). The only down side to this place is the location and parking was hard to find.

I say this with all confidence. KoGiBow bakery is the best bakery in Washington DC! I've been to plenty of bakeries in the DC area and KoGiBow is by far the best! Friendliness of the staff, pricing "you get a lot for your money" I ordered a 1/4 sheet cake doubled layered and with a custom image for a fair price. YES you can show them any image and they can add it on the cake, as a edible image. They have either Vanilla, Chocolate or Tres Leches as the cake flavors and you can add a variety of fruits as a decoration. Check out the picture of my amazing cake I added. I highly recommend this bakery for weddings, birthdays or any parties.

Mango bubble tea! Yummy

I'm really glad I checked this place out. I came to get bubble tea. I got mango and avocado. They were made with real fruit, instead of the powder. This is how bubble tea is suppose to be made! The bubbles were not coated in honey as other places do. I was fine with it not overly sweet. In my opinion, this is the best bubble tea in DC! A must try!

Ko Gi Bow made our wedding cake!

It's almost a year after the fact, but I wanted to highlight KoGiBow as a great place to get wedding cakes. We wanted an affordable cake that looked like a traditional wedding cake (nothing kooky for us) and tasted GOOD. Like CAKE, not like fondant. KoGiBow delivered brilliantly. The cake was affordable (about $275 for a cake that fed 100 people, including delivery and set-up), lovely, and highly delicious. We got a three-tiered cake with the biggest tier being chocolate with tres leches filling (very creamy, not too sweet), and the two smaller tiers being white cake with lemon filling (nice and tangy, not processed-tasting). I brought in a picture of a cake style I wanted (white, with little rows of white candy disks, which I supplied to make his life easier), and Mr KoGiBow (the owner, can't remember his name) recreated it. They can also decorate their wedding cakes with fruit--ask to look at his book of photos. The only reason I'm taking off a star is that communication can be a little challenging, as the staff doesn't speak great English. I recommend getting everything in writing for a big order like a wedding cake. But KoGiBow is a fantastic local alternative to high-priced froufrou wedding bakeries. Yay!

Rose Ave Bakery has been on my radar since early this year! I finally made it to DC this weekend…read moreand this was naturally our first stop. They are open until 1 PM on Saturdays, we reached at around 11:30 AM and I was half hoping for them to be out of most items. Fortunately, even though they were super packed, we were able to find all of the items we were looking for - thanks to the hard working staff as they continue to make their pastries until closing - unlike so many other bakeries these days that make a certain amount and call it a day! Now to the food, everything we had was absolutely phenomenal! I am not a donut person but I loved theirs as they were very flavorful and weren't too sweet. I definitely prefer their Ube and Pandan over the Black sesame donut. The Matcha chocolate croissant and the Ube Kouign Amann were my favorites of the bunch! I cannot recommend them enough, this will surely be my first stop every time I am in DC!

The space is a pretty cute, modern café with cherry blossom décor and a great mix of sweet and savory pastries. We honestly tried almost everything Garlic Scallion Bun - Soft, lightly toasted with just the right crunch. Inspired by a Taiwanese garlic bun, it was super easy to eat and one of my favorites (9/10). Matcha Chocolate Twice-Baked Croissant - A rectangular croissant absolutely loaded with matcha and chocolate, topped with matcha powder. It was almost a bit too heavy on the matcha for me, and the bitterness overpowered the chocolate. Banana Chocolate Twice-Baked Croissant - Banana cream on top with banana chocolate inside. Pretty straightforward--tasted exactly like what you'd expect from a banana chocolate croissant. Ube Cheese Kouign Amann - Unique sweet-and-savory combo. The ube adds a subtle sweetness while the cheese gives it a creamy balance. Rich and slightly dense, and I just wished there was a bit more filling to balance the pastry. Miso Garlic Salted Bread - One of my top picks. Savory, buttery, and paired with a slightly sweet brioche-like base that balances everything really well. Elote Bread - Corn-topped savory bread with a nice sweetness and texture. This and the miso garlic bread were tied for my favorites. Strawberry Passionfruit Kouign Amann - Fruity and rich, but a bit filling overall. I just wished there was more filling to balance the pastry. Sugared Donut - Simple and classic, just a soft, sugary donut done right. Drinks: * Strawberry Matcha & Mango Matcha - Both layer fruit puree with matcha, but the flavors stay quite separate rather than blending together. * Vietnamese Coffee with Cold Foam - Strong coffee base with strawberry-flavored cold foam. It's pretty sweet overall with less of a coffee-forward taste, but still smooth and enjoyable. * White Mocha Latte - More coffee-forward compared to the sweeter drinks, which I actually preferred. Overall, I loved my visit--great spot for both savory and sweet pastries with creative flavor combinations and a lot to try. I definitely preferred the savory items over sweet here particularly the garlic scallion bun!

This time we had our baby and I wasn't impressed with the lack of sides or anything to get for her. We asked for two eggs scrambled with cheese but were told we'd have to buy an egg prosciutto sandwich for $11 and tell them we didn't want any of the items. Um, no. The tuna sandwich asked for lettuce and told can't add lettuce. My husband asked for something not on his lamb pita, same story. Oh well. No customization at all, no subs. Makes business easier, but not as attractive for price point for customers. I'll remember to keep it to coffee and pastries from now on. Chicken pita was good, a bit heavy on the parsley but loved the dressing. Tuna sandwich was a hit. Pastries are always good. My pistachio latte was chewy bc it had grainy bits of pistachio in it. Not to my liking. $70 for three sandwiches, two coffees and two cookies.

I recently had time to explore a little while in DC, and a charming PINK building caught my eye…read morewhile taking a walk. I had absolutely no plans on buying or eating cake that day, but as a cake lover stuff happens. It was such a cute building the pastries had to be everything! It turned out to be the perfect stop. 1. The looks The building itself is so cute on the outside, and being a fan of the color pink, it instantly caught my attention. Inside, it feels less like a fast, high volume bakery and more like an intimate cake boutique. It gives small town where the owners know you by your first name. You can feel that real love was put into the space and the baking. Tasted like every ingredient was hand mixed, every cake hand frosted, and every cookie carefully hand scooped. They even served my slice of coconut cake on a real plate, which was such a cute, bourgeois touch that I loved. 2. Service The hospitality here is top-notch. On my first visit, yes you heard me! Lol! The gentleman Eric who rang me up was incredibly knowledgeable about all the different cookie and cake flavors. I ended up returning the very next day, and although he wasn't there, the other two staff members working which included Mikaela were absolutely delightful and so kind. The young lady told me her daughter loves the carrot cake as well and Mikaela said they started working there because they loved the patties so much! 3. The Cakes -Coconut Cake: This slice was so delicious, fluffy, and airy that it instantly reminded me of being a kid at holiday family meals with a fresh coconut cake on the table. -Carrot Cake: It was everything you want a carrot cake to be. It was nice and dense yet soft, with a pleasant texture from the added fruits. Definitely noticed pineapple bits! The cream cheese frosting wasn't overly thick and was so good you could eat it completely by itself. -Strawberry Cupcakes: I stole a small bite of my son's. unfortunately, this one was my least favorite. The frosting had a little chemical taste to it but it was a super cute cupcake. To answer your question, will I return? Absolutely! If you are in the DC area or planning a trip there soon, check this spot out. It truly feels like a mom and pop or pop and pop boutique. Not a bakery but a BOUTIQUE! Check them out! Tell them Anisha from Milwaukee sent you! (Not that they'd remember it just sounds cute!)

I was so excited to try some of these harder to find pastries. I had a Turkish beef börek and a cheese finger börek. They warmed them up for me, but they still weren't very warm - I'd probably ask for them to warm them up twice next time. The beef börek was good; the cheese finger börek was good, too, if maybe a teensy bit dry. I also got one of their signature coffees. While these coffees sound interesting and delicious and creative, I wish there an option or two that weren't as sweet. I tried the Sultan's Velvet, which was just way too sweet for me. Next time, I'll stick to a classic coffee - an americano or a cappuccino - since they have it all. There's quite a bit of seating - some downstairs, some upstairs, and some outside. I sat down and read my book while I enjoyed my pastries. It's definitely the kind of place that is comfortable to sit and enjoy. The customer service was friendly and fast. Overall, I'm glad I stopped by Caspian Crust. Georgetown is lucky to have several pastry shops/bakeries, but Caspian Crust is different and stands out. Its focus on Turkish and Azerbaijani pastries means that there's something for everyone - some classics for those folks who like what they like with their coffee, more savory pastries with meat or cheese or olives, and some sweet but less common pastries as well. Great flavors and variety. It's also cozy, comfortable, and casual, with good customer service. I'd be happy to return.
