I usually do my own house repairs, but my chimney siding was looking pretty bad, my roof is steep, and it was just beyond my know-how and comfort level of safety to get up and mess with it. I found Koalaty and ended up having them fix it. When I saw what they had to do to get the chimney right and I started looking at other things on the exterior of the house, I added more and more to the job and we ended up cleaning up all the problem spots on the exterior siding and trim, and it looks great. I don't usually take the time to write detailed reviews but felt it was necessary. This review is a compilation of letdowns over the course of 6 months. About our siding project: we had the siding replaced on our small house with new vinyl siding. The first of many "miscommunications" occurred after we selected the colors for the new siding. We were given a selection of colors to choose from and about 2 months after we had chosen our final color scheme, we were told by Lenore that our colors weren't available any more and that we had to pick new ones. We understood their reasoning which was 'production delays' due to covid. We were given other options and then told those colors actually weren't available either. Finally, we just asked for a list of colors that were actually available and most of them were similar to the 90's colors we were trying to replace...finally, at our request, Lenore was able to find another company with available options that weren't out of date. From the beginning, we were told that from "start to finish" our house would take one week and that Koalaty only focuses on one project at a time. To sum things up 1) The project took weeks upon weeks with minimal updates and communication from Koalaty. We weren't living at the house (which they knew) so we politely asked about progress after a couple of days and we were reprimanded like children and were told that their crew worked "morning until night"...which was false and we had to check on them/ask where their crew was because no one was there to work quite frequently per our neighbors 2) From the initial walk-through, the miscommunication was evident. Even with clear, direct text messages via the Telegram app that they make you download for "legendary' communication, many things that were promised to us were simply ignored and when we clearly referenced the topic at hand, they just said there was "miscommunication." Our constant theme of the project was that Koalaty over promised and grossly under delivered. 3) The ONLY topic that mattered to Koalaty was payment and they made it VERY CLEAR over (and over and over and over) they only care about money and getting paid before the completion of the project. From the start, way before the project was done, they were persistent, unprofessional and flat out rude regarding their payment requests via the telegram app. It was borderline harassment. Asking for payment via text message on a daily basis before the paint was even dry was beyond our disbelief. We were happy to pay when the project was complete but Darren's approach was distasteful and haughty. Beyond the unprofessional "miscommunication" on a daily basis between Lenore, Darren and Daniil on the Telegram app, we were most disappointed in the actual work. The pictures speak for themselves and if you scroll through, you will see how our final siding project turned out: it looks like high schoolers installed it and they chose our house to learn and practice how to caulk, paint and install siding/trim. We took clear photos that showed exactly how unacceptable their craftsmanship was and asked them multiple times to remedy the shotty work. The few things they decided to "fix" encompassed them smearing more caulking over the holes and cut marks in the new siding. The painters did a terrible job and instead of fixing and replacing the areas of new siding they painted all over quite sloppily, Adam explained that their work was up to par with industry standard and simply offered us $500 off for us to get out of their hair (and for us to pay the remaining balance of course because that's all they care about). These were just a few of the highlights from our unfortunate encounters with Koalaty over the last few months but we could go on and on about how stressful and disappointing this experience has been. Replacing the siding on your home is a very expensive decision and Koalaty will absolutely disappoint you on all levels from start to finish. They are the most unprofessional and rude team we've worked with for any housing project. read more

Hannah who helped w/ setting the appointment times, and was always available to communicate. Chrissy Dixon was the absolute best! We started the process with these folks over a year ago to have exterior paint done and a new addition done to our backyard deck. Joe Martucci was amazing in the set up and initial process of getting the project started. I had several bids but felt more comfortable with Joe and wanted to make sure I tossed the deck addition at him. He came through big!! We discovered that a tenant renting our property had melted our siding with a bbq grill and had very little time to get a repair done. Our first estimate (from another company) was for over $1,100. Our house was a victim of vicious woodpeckers to the point that we needed to either do extensive repairs or replace the siding on a side of our house. Given the housing marker here, no one was willing to do only one side, and many others didn't even call me back. But Koalaty was quick to respond and responsive to our needs. Tom came out quickly and met with us several times to discuss what was going on and the options we had to fix the problem. He was extremely knowledgeable about the issue at hand, explaining to us why the woodpeckers were attacking, and was very sensitive to our budget and needs. Koalaty offered all types of siding and options that matched the unique siding we have on the rest of the house. Once we gave them the green light, Tom and owner Cory worked with us to develop a project that met our needs in a tight budget that worked for us, clearly describing the trade-offs of options. They offered us additional options to help save money, such as going on an on-call list rather than scheduling and using pictures of their work for marketing. They really cared about our needs and couldn't have been nicer. They also took extensive notes to the point that when they did get to our project 4 months later (we did on-call and they had a busy summer), we didn't need to remind them of anything. And the work comes with a lifetime warranty. More importantly, the work they did was fantastic. Top notch workmanship and did all the right treatments. The style perfectly matches the rest of our house, as does the color. We went with a cement board, so those pesky woodpeckers won't be back to that side. And since they're a Hardie preferred installer, they know what they're doing and can offer the cement board at a good price. And they did this all very quickly, yet did not cut any corners. We had a very small issue during the project, but it was handled very professionally. The lead project manager Paul was very nice as well, going over everything in detail with me on a walk through to approve the work. We even got to keep the dumpster used to dispose of the old siding for a few days for our own use! The personability doesn't stop at the gentlemen I mentioned. Star and the rest of the staff was always very nice on the phone. This day in age, being addressed with genuine care on the phone (or even in person) is so rare that it caught me off guard at times! Great people to work with on all fronts who are really caring and take pride in what they do. Koalaty will certainly be our choice for any future exterior needs. read more

We had our entire siding replaced with Hardie board, upgraded insulation and all windows replaced by this company as well as a new side exterior door put in. There were problems right from the beginning. The whole experience was not bad, but definitely the majority of it was problematic. They put up the wrong siding on one side; we still liked it, so we said we'd save them the hassle and extra money to fix their mistake and just keep it. We bought the crew that was working beers and coffee a few of the days at the beginning and were rewarded by the cups thrown all over our yard. We also had agreed upon in the contract that they would put tarps down on the rock landscape for nails, etc because we have puppies and kids. They didn't do it, even after it was brought up. We had to spend hours each day picking up trash and nails to help keep our family safe (I'm not sure we'll ever get all the nails, as we are still finding them). They took the gutter down spouts off (obviously), but when they left because it started to rain, they did not put them back up and our basement flooded as all the rain went next to the foundation. They canceled a few times because of vacations or other jobs or not bringing the right supplies, which extended the project. Many times we heard the excuse that it was just a "miscommunication" when they didn't show up or when a problem wasn't addressed. One of the windows was ordered or measured wrong; we had to wait 2 months for it. Our gate was left open and our puppies got out even though we said that it needed to be closed (thank goodness a neighbor caught them before they were hit by a car). We were quoted for painting the fascia and trim. We thought it was a reasonable amount until they started painting and the painters said it didn't include our shed and playhouse, which was the old paint color of the house before the new siding. They were going to charge us a large amount to paint them as well, even though it only took us a couple hours to paint both by hand and would've taken them no time to spray it. Any previous painting jobs or quotes we have had have always included our shed and playhouse. It was very overpriced for the little paint they had to do and they missed a ton of spots. One of the sales reps seemed to refuse to speak to women...my wife was repeatedly ignored on their messaging app, until I would ask the question. The door that was installed was done incorrectly (we found out when we had an electrician come in to install a light out side of it and he cut into the wall). They did not pull any permits for the project and there was no inspections done. We were also asked repeatedly for money before each stage of the job was done and were told if we added things before starting the job (things they suggested and we decided the next day we didn't like or want) and they were never removed as promised. We asked the workers to wear masks and shoe covers inside our home because one of our kids is medically fragile and we repeatedly caught them without masks or shoe covers. They left mud all over our carpet when installing the door. We told them upfront before even signing the contract about people in our house because of our medically fragile child, so it should've been expected from the beginning. The project was started mid June and was supposed to be done by the first week of July and was not done until the end of August. The only saving grace for this company is that we were given 1k off for the first few issues (this is a very small amount considering the size and cost of the project). Adam and Daniil were apologetic and were respectful when at our home and did their best at the end to try to get the job finished, but it was far too little, too late. There is more items as well, but I think you get the picture. We were going to let these issues go until we had more time to calm down about it, but we received an email from them asking for us to write a 5 star review because they had received a negative one recently, so here is the review they requested. We would not recommend Koalaty to anyone redoing their siding, windows, etc. read more

They were great at answering questions and explaining the job. They gave us a fair quote for the job done and we were happy to support a small business as we are also small business owners. Darren, Cory and Daniil were all great at communicating with us if we had any questions along the way. Our construction team was led by Luis. Luis and his team worked hard and were very easy to get along with. It can be hard to find honest contractors out there. I can tell you that Koality followed through with everything they said they would do. The work was done right, at the price we agreed upon and on time! This company wrapped a hundred year old house with insulation and vinyl siding for me. They did a great job for a fair price, all the ugly wood siding is totally covered up now. When I was getting bids for this project, several other exterior contractors wouldn't even give me an estimate because the house is so small (330 square feet). Any time I, as a homeowner, has to trust an outside party to come and do work on my investment there is some uneasiness naturally. I would include that in my scenario I was between a rock (HOA) and a hard place (time). A web search for quality carpentry brought up Koalaty's web links. Shortly after that Steve K. was at my door. I had already had it in my mind that I was going to get only the work done that I needed to escape from my rock & hard place, however with expert guidance I was given facts, findings and recommendations that helped in my final decision. Once on the schedule the carpenter who came out to do the work was very kind, professional and always willing to answer my questions. I wish there was a 4.5 star option, as I don't believe in perfection, but 4 stars just doesn't seem enough. Koalaty replaced the siding on one wall of our house. I found them to be honest, helpful, patient, and professional. A good group of people. The city inspected the work and the city inspector was very impressed with the job. I also had a home inspector come out for a different matter and he too voiced the opinion that they did excellent work. They painted the house as part of the contract and it looks very nice. I had a very positive experience with the company and would strongly consider them for future work. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that there was a miscommunication between the crew foreman and the office. I inspected the work as it progressed and noted some deteriorated OSB boards. I asked the crew foreman if he was going to replace them and he said no one told him he needed to replace damaged boards. I told him it was in the contract. We had added a provision to the contract about replacing damaged boards, although it is my understanding that it is understood that the estimate includes and expects there will be some that are replaced due to deterioration. The foreman verified my assertion with the project manager and replaced the boards that were of concern. I would recommend inspecting the work as it progresses just to avoid any issues after completion. read more

This is the second time I have had the pleasure of working with Koalaty Siding. I am a single mom and a teacher so I had to break up my project into 2 phases. I met Joe Martucci to discuss what work I needed done and I felt the reassurance of a family-like company that cared more than just a sales meeting. Joe worked with me to find the quality siding, painting, and gutters I wanted at the budget I could afford. I knew exactly what I was getting and how the process would go before it began and was kept in the loop the whole way through which is unusual. I have owned my home for 20 years and have never worked with a company where every person has been so friendly and knew about MY project, which made it seamless. My neighbors even commented on how nice the siding and painting guys were! They even cut down a huge branch that came down in our spring snow storm. Really happy with our experience with this company. Our home was impacted by the recent hail storm just as we were getting ready to put it on the market. Koalaty came out within 24 hours of our call, and worked with us to get everything completed in less than 2 weeks. We have had some bad luck with other contractors recently, but our experience with Koalaty could not have been better. We experienced many delays with completing the siding work and little communication from Koalaty about it. The salesman said they needed to put a very large dumpster in our driveway and that "it won't block access to your garage" but they went ahead and put it in front of the garage anyways. They also put a port-a-potty out front for the workers and our salesman said he would contact the HOA about it to let them know why it was there. But then we got a nasty letter in the mail from the HOA, complaining about the dumpster and port-a-potty in the driveway. Our salesman said that they have a "fixer" who will come by after the work is completed to pick up trash and nails from the construction. That didn't happen either so we have nails littered around the entire area where they worked. During the sales meeting, our salesman even called up the owner of the company and we were told "Welcome to the Family" via speaker phone that sounded so fake and planned out. Then our salesman told us before the work even started to "go and leave me a good review" like it's a requirement. In summary, we got told a bunch of lies up front so I don't want this to happen to anyone else. Keep searching for a more trustworthy company. read more

We needed some siding repairs on our chimney and garage front siding. Our house is 30+ years old with original siding. Tom came out and looked over all our siding and agreed that overall the siding on the rest of our house would last around ten more years with regular painting and that his company could make the repairs we requested. Whew! Koalaty has done a terrific job of detailing the work to be done and explaining the steps to be taken during the process. Nacho, Manual and Jesus did the siding repair and we were very impressed with their work. The entire siding on the chimney and garage front side needed replacing, as did the trim around five windows. Pete was our project manager and was very helpful. The only thing keeping us from giving a five star review is that when the job began, the workers came out before Pete and there was some confusion, which was resolved.
