My disintegrating cedar shake roof had hail damage, and one roofer got my insurance company to cover 13k for repairs. Enter Mike Montoya and Ethos roofing, who worked their magic and got my insurance to cover 90K for an entire new, top of the line roof!! If you live in Colorado, you probably know that insurance claims for hail damage on your home can be pretty painful and take much longer than you expect, usually because you discover your insurance company is there to fight and lowball you every step of the way (and you have very little leverage on your own). No matter what your insurance agent says, companies like Ethos can help you get what you actually need to repair your home. I worked with Lance Hardison at Ethos on a hail damage claim on our home in Parker, and he helped us navigate the process, negotiate a much higher payout from insurance to actually cover the damage, and manage all of the work that resulted in our 50-year-old home looking nearly brand new. It's literally a crazy transformation, and the team at Ethos did a great work on our house after they helped us get insurance stuff squared away. After a huge hail storm, we were replacing a roof, gutters, repainting, fixing damage to a deck, replacing shredded screens, and detaching and replacing solar panels on the house. This was nearly a complete exterior redo on the house that required a lot of coordination, negotiation with insurance and an overabundance of proof, and a lot of patience that Lance helped guide me through. I didn't realize that insurance claims can take as long as they do for hail damage (expect it to take months, not weeks), so Lance was equal parts project manager and therapist to me whenever I got impatient or annoyed with our insurance company. Those moments happened pretty often, and he was just a text away. While insurance claims like this are rarely pleasant, it really helps to have people like Lance and the knowledgeable team at Ethos in your corner. Before you start a project, just request that you never have to communicate with Adam from Orix who handles some of the paint billing. He's one of the most needlessly defensive and oversensitive people I've ever talked to in my life. Literally ask for it to be in the contract. I would've been screwed by our insurance company without them, and the quality of the repair and reconstruction work is great. After reading reviews of roofing companies, we decided on our top 3 to get estimates from for replacing our worn out, hail damaged roof. Nick came to our house with samples of all the materials and professional information on the pros and cons of the different types. He explained all the costs and different warranties. He was personable and knowledgeable and very willing to work with us and our insurance company. He helped us to customize the new roof and explained things thoroughly. We had everything specifically spelled out in the clear, easy to understand contract before work began. Because of Nick, we decided to go with Ethos Roofing. We had to schedule a date for a few weeks out to give our solar company time to get the panels uninstalled from our house. When that was done, Nick came out with a crew and a crew manager, Norma, and they got to work. We took lots of photos throughout the process and Nick came out every day to make sure things were running smoothly. He also took drone photos so we could see what was going on - and also for the inspection that's required when it's all done. The crew started early every morning and worked until dark every day for three days. They also replaced our leaking skylight and it looks great. When they were done, they cleaned up all the trash and went over the lawn and driveways with a magnet to get all the loose nails. Nick walked around our house with us to make sure there wasn't anything else that needed to be done. There were a lot of nails left in the gutters and downspouts but those were taken care of by Nick. He also scheduled the inspection with the city, which they actually did with the photos because they were so backed up with requests due to the hail storms. His assessment/advice was thorough yet concise and easy to understand. He did not try to oversell whatsoever, and even said that it wasn't an urgent issue but told me what to look out for. We recently used Ethos to help us with a home owners claim for hail damage we received last summer. We had worked with Ethos before on another claim and wanted to use them again as they had done a good job for us then as well. Our general contractor was Lance Hardison. Lance was super helpful and very professional. Since there had been so many homes in our area affected by the hail, getting our siding and roofing materials was delayed for a considerable amount of time. Lance kept us updated and went out of his way to try and get things moving along. He gave us options we didn't know we had and was very knowledgeable about all aspects of the process. Avoid this company at all costs. They left a hump in the roof around our gutter and refused to come out and repair or warranty the work. Instead, they blamed it on the prior crew and said it was already there, which of course is false, because for one I have photos showing it wasn't, and secondly if it were there they would have noted it beforehand and asked the insurance company for the money to fix it. Instead they said they would give us a quote, after the fact, for their company to repair it out of our pocket. Additionally, their subcontracted paint crew ruined our vintage, wooden garage door. They left globs of paint/caulk/primer (who knows what) on that door. Then they tried to "fix it" but instead they sanded through the door, leaving deep scratches. The other repairs on the door they attempted lead to flashing. There are still globs on the door (see photo below of the door). The bottom line is you should avoid this company. They'll probably deny all of this, but I will attach photos showing the scratches, flashing, and globs they left on the garage door, and the hump in the roof (look at the raised area around the gutter). They also damaged our roof inside the garage. I have video of that, but Yelp won't let me upload video. I'll take screen shots from the video when I have time and upload those. But basically the crew was so rough in their hammering that chunks of the roof splintered off into the garage and attic. Finally, do not trust their "warranty", as they will blame any issue that they cause on your expectations (gaslighting), the prior crew, or the age of your home. Edit: see their response below. They're confusing a slight upcurve in the corner (which was there) with the hump they created (which wasn't there), and our door used to be perfectly matte and flat, and now look at it. Of course we want a new 6k door and are keeping the remaining insurance money to pay for that. They ruined our old wooden door, which costs 6k on the current market. Instead of them just saying, "sure, keep the money and get a door since we ruined that one" they are threatening legal action to get 5k (which we need for a new door). Again, as I said, they are gaslighting, blaming others, and not taking responsibility. Update: we had a roofer look at this, and in 5 minutes they found debris/shingles/something left under the roof causing the hump (see the latest attached photos). As I said, their claim of a fascia defect was wrong. They messed up. They didn't fix it. Now we have debris of some type under our roof. Avoid this company. read more

Ethos Roofing did not replace my roof. But, they sent an estimator without making am appointment with me. The estimator insisted that I'd made an appointment, but Ethos had never called me back to schedule it. Their estimator showed up just as I had to leave for a doctor's appointment. The estimator was very rude and was angry that I was not meeting him for his "appointment", even though the company had never called me to make the appointment. The estimator told me that they wouldn't be actually replacing my roof for another few months because they were backed up, but I could make another appt for an estimate. I made an appointment with him for two weeks later before the guy left. Since then, I got an estimate from a company that could move forward immediately. I sent a message to Ethos through Yelp Projects (where I first contacted the company) to say I was moving forward with another company. I can still see this message on Yelp. Today the same guy shows up at my door. Ethos obviously never told him that I had cancelled. He literally screamed at me on my porch and continued screaming at me from the street until he got in his truck and drove away. So Ethos's communication is TERRIBLE and their employees are incredibly rude. Not a good look. I'm glad I had someone else do my roof. read more

Total waste of time. He comes to the door, I asked him to get started on the inspection as I was in a work meeting. He asks for my email and phone number, ignoring what I just told him. He says they don't provide estimates because they take too much time. I have to sign a 'blank check' contract with them before they will tell me what the roof will cost. Every other roofing company I've had inspect the hail damage has given me an itemized estimate with pictures. This company says they do things 'differently'. Sam came out to check on a roof leak, arriving on the stated time. He found a possible source around a skylight that just required a little weatherproofing, but no shingle or flashing replacement. He had to come out a couple of days later when snow had melted from around the entire skylight to do the work. No charge for either visit or the caulk! He just asked me to keep an eye on things and if that did not fix the source of the leak, to consider them for more extensive troubleshooting and fixing the leak for good. You can bet I will! After this last snow, it seems to have worked. I know caulk is not permanent, but if it can delay work on an otherwise good roof for a few years, that's OK with me. Good communication throughout. With all the rain Denver has experienced this Spring of 2023 our roof began to leak through our son's bedroom ceiling. It was so difficult to find anyone who could do a repair quickly because all of Denver was experiencing the same thing. On top of that we were heading out of town on vacation in a week.
