Last month, I had no extra roof tiles and yet our roof had several discontinued tiles that needed repair. After many calls to many places, Formula Roofing said they could find the tiles and do the repairs needed to my roof. They were up front about this being a busy time (understandable) and let me know they would likely be looking at around a couple of weeks. I used Yelp's request a quote tool and heard back from Formula roofing asap. They provided a quick quote over the phone for asphalt and cement shingles. I didn't need to sign anything or commit to using their services to get a quote. They then sent a number of options and information/links to different roofing materials via email. Later, long after receiving the quote, they received my insurance claim documents and made sure the claim was accurate and a few additional details were added to the claim based on Formula's review. They also got the claim upped to help cover my time managing multiple vendors. When it was all said and done the neighbors were sending compliments and taking photos (yeah that sounds weird for a roof but people really liked the work the Formula team completed). We are extremely happy with the entire new roof and responsiveness of Nick throughout this entire process. He was very patient and explained every detail. We expect many decades of service from our new class 4 hail resistant cement shingles. Not worried about future hail now that we've replaced the asphalt shingles. I've done multiple roof replacements from asphalt to cement (previous homes had hail claims) and this was by far the easiest, most transparent, roofing process ever. HIGHLY recommend Formula Roofing (major props to Jerry who was incredibly prompt, professional, and transparent). Our neighborhood was hit hard during the 5/30/24 hailstorm. We had 3 roofing company reps (Cenco, and 2 others I forgot the name of) stop by our house the day after offering to inspect for free. They all said there was significant damage done and we needed to file a claim through them. We were referred to Jerry by our neighbors and he said there was incredibly minimal damage done to the shingles (which made sense as we had ours replaced 2years prior due to a recall). In short, Jerry was a straight shooter, and incredibly honest when it came to the assessment, saving us thousands. 10/10 will be using Jerry for any roofing issues moving forward. read more

He also spontaneously did a general roof inspection for hail damage from a previous storm but there was none. On the spot, her repaired a ridge cap damaged by the tree branches which saved me another appointment time. I appreciated this on-the-spot service and will continue to use Formula Roofing for all my needs. Beware if you have a total roof replacement, there will be a ton of debris in your attic which Formula will claim they do not have to remove given the contract states small debris may been left in the attic. What I found in my attic was not small debris. When I contacted Formula they told me no roofing company would clean this up. Not happy. The small debris in my attic feel on me when I needed to access the attic a couple of months after the roof installation. I could have been injured. read more

Josh communicated well throughout the process and was happy to share photos of the work as he was progressing. While we had to wait a couple of weeks for a permanent fix, Josh immediately addressed the leak problem in the short term while fabricating a more permanent fix. Quick to respond to my request, (one star) Chris Lally contacted me within 24 hours to set an appointment to come out and inspect. Seriously nice man (2 stars) said he would get back to me within a week with estimate. Nearly 2 weeks past with no word. I sent Chris a text asking for follow up, Crickets... I reached out to company requesting a follow up. Received an email and text from their office that Chris would get back to me with estimate by end of next business day - (Stars on the horizon.) Three days later, more Crickets. There is no excuse - hail storms or not. I said up front I was willing to wait my turn in line to have repairs done. No longer willing to wait for an estimate. (No more stars earned) Sorry - I went with a company not listed with YELP or ANGI... they at least value my business. BTW - I am paying cash for this project, no insurance hassles or financing hassles, just a cash paying customer looking for a new roof. How much easier can a project be? read more

DJ Harrison was working on a neighbor's house and solicited to come to work with him. He said he could take care of everything but never give us a straight price. The window company he referred is to give us a $30,000 quote for three windows and a 6-month wait. When we wanted to discuss proposals, he refused to discuss them with us and said, and I quote, "It's none of your business what my market up is" after he told me he only works six months out of the year. We wanted to use our painting vendor, and he was trying to rob the insurance company blind with a 40% markup. DJ cannot give you a straight answer, and his answers change and shift when he does answer you. We have a right to ask questions, protect our investment, and ensure we get the work done correctly. p.s - your mortgage company requires that the vendors and work get done. read more

After hail and storm damage, I called several local companies to assess the damage and estimate repair costs. Out of the five or six companies I called, Formula consistently came out on top. The representative (DJ) was very responsive and answered every question I had. Once hired, the company and crew came out on time, and had the job done, using high quality materials in one day. Formula also arranged for the gutter and down spout replacement, all completed in a fast turnaround, efficiently and professionally. We had squirrels in our home's attic. After the animals were removed by a pest control company, we still needed to have the roof area repaired...and fixed to prevent future pest invasions. This was a horrible experience! We agreed to replace our roof in April 2023 after a home inspection by the buyers. They requested using Formula Roofing, we unfortunately agreed. Formula gave a quote, we signed the contract. A few days later our area was hit hard by a hailstorm. Our insurance adjuster came out and approved coverage. The representative from Formula called us and said that we need to cancel the contract and they could go directly through our insurance company because they could charge more for the job. We informed the rep that he could not unilaterally cancel a contract. There was a lot of pressure for us to cancel that contract, including calling our Realtor inappropriately to have her pressure us as well. She informed us that he had accused us of insurance fraud. A call to our insurance agent assured us that this was not the case. If this weren't enough.... Part of Formula's sales pitch is that they offer $250 if you allow their sign in your yard. I had to call to request this after the job was complete. The card had almost a zero balance. Formula wouldn't deal with it or issue a new card, we had to contact the card provider ourselves. After much time on hold for many follow-up calls we went through several weeks of documenting that we were not the ones who used the card fraudulently. Finally a new card was provided. Dealing with Formula was a headache from beginning to end. Do yourself a favor and hire a reputable company. read more

We've had a leak from our roof into our kitchen for nearly 2 years and have "gone through" 3-4 different roofing companies as well as a roofing handyman. Long-story short, Formula (Custom) Roofing was by far the most professional and honest we have ever worked with. Not only did they (especially Tony their lead roof guy) find the problem where others hadn't, they made a quick and short-term fix that saved the day. They recommended a longer-term fix that we could not do because of HOA restrictions, but instead of offering another expensive solution that would have made them money and NOT fix the problem, they referred us to a company that could make this longer-term fix. Sometimes it's the work a company DOESN'T do that shows you how honest and professional they are. Both Nick and Tony whom we worked with at Formula, always gave us prompt, professional and honest assessments of the problem, and also the best and most reasonable way to fix it. And they did fix it. Watch out, as other roofing companies want to sell you a BIG and expensive solution that you don't need, especially when there's water coming into your house! I'd go back to Formula (Custom) in a heart-beat, if we ever have any roofing problems again. Honest, professional, courteous and easy to work with. Even when they were pointing out the good work and bad work that had been done by others prior to them. A testament to their honesty. I highly recommend them! read more

We had extensive ceiling leaks from the exterior in our 7th floor condo porch so it was not possible to seal it from the outside. Andi from Formula Roofing has fixed 5 other similar issues in our building. He meticulously scraped the old caulk and paint from the top of the 3 sides, primed and added multiple layers of caulk. Taylor was extremely responsive when we contacted Formula Roofing after our first roofing contractor went MIA. He did a wonderful job putting together a quote to send to the insurance company for repairs. We did expect the roof to be a smaller project as 6 tile had flown off during a wind storm and there were other minor repairs expected. However, insurance denied the claim and we decided to continue with the repairs out of pocket. Taylor did try to debate the final decision with the insurance company on our behalf, but to no avail. However, when we contacted them to try to have them do the repairs out of pocket, they also disappeared. Everything leading up to the actual repairs went smoothly and Taylor was a pleasure to work with. We just wish they would have completed the repairs and worked with us out of pocket. Problem: 26 year old Spanish tile roof ravaged by Evergreen weather and animals. Many broken tiles, one major leak, out of date/code. Formula was recommended by another roofing contractor who said, "they're the best for any tile roof...". We knew it was going to be a big job as although much of the existing tile would be re-used, everything would have to come off and all the underlying substructure replaced. Nick and Tony were a pleasure to work with throughout. Great communication. Despite beginning at the start of Winter, the crew worked around and thru a couple of snowstorms. The devoted a large crew that all worked very hard, completely professional throughout the 2+ week job. A few changes were required and Tony did a great job of working through them with me. Also needed new, to-code rain gutters and caps that Formula arranged for with a sub. All in all, we are very pleased with the end result. We have great confidence that this new roof will last many years as the new materials and installation methods were so much better than the original roof. And aesthetically, it looks great.
