Whenever I got an issue in front of the right person, they took it seriously and got things moving. The system itself is working great. The one area that really needs improvement is project management. From my perspective it was largely absent--I received essentially no responses from my assigned PM, and even my request for a new one went unanswered. Issues that could have been handled earlier, including a requirement identified before construction, contributed to an inspection failure and months of delay in fully closing out the project. I also had to request a final walkthrough myself, which seems like something project management should have coordinated. What is bizarre is how strong the rest of the team was. Operations in particular did a great job stepping in when things needed attention, and the people actually doing the work and operational oversight were great. It felt like a lot of very capable people were working there and able to get around the project-management function. I'd recommend Photon Brothers. I'm happy with the finished product and everyone that I interacted with were excellent with the exception of the nonexistent project manager. My main suggestion would be to make sure there is clear, responsive project ownership from beginning to end, including a way to hand a project to someone else when that isn't happening.

And, " I can't wait to see everyone on Reddit laugh at you" That response made me question whether customers feel comfortable leaving honest negative reviews after receiving that kind of warning. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company. I encourage anyone hiring these contractors to have security cameras and to document the condition of their home before and after service. Again, they took care of all the paperwork with Xcel. The system has been working without flaw since and saving us tons of money in this inflated energy cost environment. Stay far away from them if you're not in a reasonable service area. They are an insurance claim chaser company and will step all over you to get at your payout. They sent different people out to inspect and provide quotes (gutter and soffits/fascia was the scope requested). I did not ask for a roof assessment but the gutter guy thought it might be eligible for an insurance replacement, so I said sure send the guy on out and let's see what happens. That's where it got really.... interesting. My first appointment was for a Friday. I asked for a specific time so I could manage my work schedule around the inspection. A time was agreed upon. Nobody showed up. I had to initiate contact to find out that they would not be coming that day due to the time/distance. We rescheduled and on the rescheduled date, I reached out early to confirm the time and was told the inspector would be 30min late. I readjusted my work calendar and was notified it would be an additional 15min. This turned out to very much work in my favor. The inspection was very thorough and took about 1.5hr. At the conclusion of the inspection I was told they can convince the insurance company to replace the roof. They showed me what ended up being a contract, but was not presented as such explicitly by name. I was asked to sign before they revealed the "fine print" on the back page - which involved having the insurance company sign the check over to Rex Roofing rather than me (I have USAA). This didn't sit well after discussing with several people and reviewing the fine print. I voided the contract within the 72 hour grace period so I can get a second opinion, gather additional quotes, and control my own insurance payout (if that happens). Instead of responding to me to confirm they received my email (always document in writing! With time stamps!) they forwarded it to the inspector who started texting me asking to "resolve" the situation. I explained, as I had in the email, that I would be taking my insurance payout myself and I requested a "cash price" quote from them. I was then told there was no way my insurance company would approve it without the inspector present, a number of wild assumptions and insinuations were made, and I was essentially berated by text by the salesman for exercising a legal right to void the contract. I had to block his number because he would not stop texting me to mansplain how I had no idea what I was doing as a homeowner and he was the only person who could convince my insurance adjuster to cover the roof. Turns out he was right - they talked me into opening a claim, the adjuster said the roof is perfectly fine and they would replace only one portion of one downspout that had hail damage. I can't tell you how the "value" of this company compares to others because they said they would do the work "for a price agreed upon with the insurance company" without providing a scope of work or any numbers of any kind in writing - so I guess they're not really interested in much besides doing the job for as much as they can squeeze out of the insurance company. I might not have made a USAA claim myself but everyone else in my family has.

Chris, our sales rep. took the time to do a manual J measurement throughout the house to ensure we were getting the right system for the house, which none of the other contractors even considered. After showing me all the options, we went with their RUUD top of the line system which came with a multi stage furnance, variable stage AC, and a heat pump. They applied the rebates offered by Xcel, so we didn't have to wait for the rebates, we just signed over the rebates to them during the sales process. The installers were top notch, kind, and ensured they took good care of our home. I couldnt be happier and highly recommend them. From a price point, they came out thousands less than the closest competitor, and I'd note the closest competitor wasn't willing to do a transfer of the rebates. We would have had to claim those after the sale.

In the process he convinced me to replace an old boiler. He required a 20k deposit. Which is a huge amount of money- no doubt, but since we had already established a working relationship I had a false sense of comfort. He took my deposit and then didn't start the job for several months. I had to threaten him with lawsuit to get him to start the boiler replacement. It was clear he had spent my deposit elsewhere and didn't have the resources to start and finish my job. So many lies and dishonesty and just overall a narcissistic person that has no businesses being in business. I ended up losing my 20k plus the attempts to collect and force him to finish the work cost me thousands more. On top of that I had to make several repairs to this unfinished boiler replacement project that I wouldn't have had to otherwise. There is another comment on Yelp by "Libby" that is eerily similar to my experience with Paul. I could go on about his deceptive business practices. I think Paul is mentally unstable and just hides it well. But as soon as any job hits a snag, you'll find out Paul's true character. I would advise anybody that comes in contact with him and/or his business to usher him as far away from your property as possible. The guy cannot be trusted.
