Went there for Thanksgiving. The biscuits were great! However, the turkey was dry (we arrived early), the sides bland, the staff rude, and the service painstakingly slow. The place was only half full at the peak of the dinner service and that tells me that my experience wasn't new. So nice I had to eat here twice! I was visiting Nashville with some coworkers for a conference at Music Center Center. Some of the events were next door at the Omni which is how we stumbled upon Kitchen Notes for dinner. The service was top notch and our server was very friendly and he made great recommendations. We had deviled eggs and fried green tomatoes for our appetizer. They were both good but the eggs were so good we ordered a second helping. They were divine! For the entree, I ordered the burger with a side of charred okra. I've never had charred okra before and this was LIFE CHANGING. Seriously, they will be the sole reason I return to Nashville. The burger was also very good. Juicy, cheesy and gooey. Absolutely perfect. My coworker had a bucket of the Nashville hot chicken and it was delicious. Finally, the drinks were spot on! I love craft cocktails and my old fashioned did not disappoint. After such a great experience we decided to try brunch here the next morning. Oh, wait! Did I mention the complimentary biscuit basket that we got during dinner??? There were bacon and blue cheese biscuits. Have you ever heard of such a thing? It was amazing. Okay back to brunch. We made reservations but we still waited 15 minutes. I didn't understand that. It was only two in my party, so that bothered me a little and there were plenty of tables available. My husband and I decided to take my mother in law to Kitchen Notes for lunch after having walked through the hotel and restaurant a couple of days before. The restaurant is really lovely with its open clean feel. Lots of pretty marble, wood floors and windows. The lunch menu was interestingly healthy and southern at the same time. The music was a good mix of country, blues and pop played at a good volume for dining. Hostesses were friendly and quickly seated us. Our server, however, wasn't so quick getting to the table and when he did get there, he was far too familiar and not at all professional in his manner or speaking. He was friendly though. I expect service of a certain level at this type of restaurant and lack of training was very apparent with our waiter. I had a kale salad with fish added. The kale was tough and bitter with no dressing. The fish was fine. My husband had the turkey club I think which was boring and lacking any kind of condiments. My mother in law had the burger which she liked. I hope the kitchen and service improve as I did like the atmosphere here very much and would like to go back at some point when they have had time to fix some things. read more

While staying at the Omni Hotel, we got hungry so naturally we ventured downstairs. The place is nicely decorated, I had high hopes, but I was disappointed. If you want a kale salad, don't order the one on this menu. It's literally one piece of kale and an entire head of romaine lettuce. When I politely told the waiter I ordered a kale salad, he said "Miss, there is kale in there!" There are no apples in the salad as promised, and its not a garlic vinaigrette. It's literally just a caeser salad, a decent one but it should be advertised as that. My friend couldn't even stomach her Chicken Club sandwich, she had to literally cut it up. The bacon was raw-like and the chicken was a huge hard breast- it was a struggle to watch her cut it. It gets two stars because the biscuits were really exceptional..I had 3...maybe 4... Just don't be fooled by the fancy menu, hiding behind the culinary jargon is just a cesear salad and regular old club sandwich. read more

Friday night dinner with friends. The hot friend chicken was spicy yet not too hot. Our friends enjoyed the meatloaf (moist and tasty). The macaroni and cheese was rich and sinful! If you want to have a classy brunch on a holiday (Easter, Mothers Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas), Kitchen Notes has an incredibly elaborate spread for $50 a person, which is slightly less varied in terms of dessert selection but priced at $32/each on normal weekends. Although I did not try the buffet, my table tasted a variety of the normal menu options, which were fairly priced and well executed, though the yogurt parfait was missing the TN honey on top. The real reason this was only 3-stars is due to the price of the coffee. At $5/person, when they offer complimentary coffee to those waiting for tables, you get a drink that is far more bitter than what you could have gotten if you walked across the lobby to get a custom latte from Bongo Java. Also, that I see that apparently tables get complimentary biscuits, and we did not, I am a little upset that we did not get to enjoy them! This is pretty inconsistent, and I wish they made this clear to all their customers. read more

Looking for a brunch spot on Valentines Day, the hubs and I were happy to find not too long of a wait at Kitchen Notes. I had just enjoyed dinner here, and was itching to try their brunch buffet. The decor is incredible and I love the style details from lighting/wall decor down to their serveware/glasses. The buffet had a selection of some DELICIOUS items and some I just glanced at and ran past. The choices you'll find are traditional southern breakfast staples [meats, potatoes, sausage gravy], omelet and waffle [made-to-order station], biscuit bar with fresh jams/honey, prime rib, jumbo shrimp, smoked salmon, fruit, cheeses, salad station, and toward the back of the restaurant a dessert station. The service was good, not great. Our waiter seemed to disappear, but was very helpful when he was around. I chalked it up to a busy Saturday. All in all, I would definitely give this a 3.5 read more

This restaurant offered a welcome respite from the noise and swarm of humanity along the Broadway strip. It is located just off the beautiful Omni Hotel lobby. The kale Caesar salad was just okay, but we enjoyed everything else, including the complimentary biscuits and cornbread with jam and honey butter. My favorite place for brunch. The atmosphere is so bright and inviting. The buffet is just beautiful and I could stay for hours just sampling everything. The pancakes just melt in your mouth and I won't even get started on the biscuits because they are so yummy. The service has always be great with no complaints. Two stars for slow service with no water refills, unripe fruit, and swapping out fresh squeezed OJ with concentrate. Staying at the Omni I was running late for work and needed to get breakfast. I looked at the menu and right under the breakfast buffet advertisement, there was a square that said Continental. It had pretty much everything listed on the breakfast buffet list, just not the hot items, so I assumed that, like at most hotels, the continental would be just the cold portion of the buffet. I was wrong. Once in the restaurant I was sat at a table against the wall, far from the other patrons, with my back right at the kitchen door, facing a column. I am by myself so I didn't expect a big table or anything, but it is annoying to have the wait staff whisking right by you every minute and feel like you are being punished in the corner by yourself looking at a wall when everyone else is sitting by floor to ceiling windows enjoying the morning light. I sat and waited, and waited, and waited. Finally, my server comes and I order and ask her to show me which part of the buffet applied to the continental, she explained that for the continental, they just bring you a plate. It isn't part of the buffet at all. Bummer. Big bummer. I never would have come here had I known that. Oh well, I am here, I am now starting to worry about getting to my client on time given the wait for the server, I don't have time to wait for anything hot, so I carry on. They bring out the juice and it is concentrate. The menu, in big font, brags about the fresh squeezed orange juice so I am sad. A waiter (not mine, she has dissappeared) explained that the fresh orange juice doesn't come with the continental. If you are a restaurant and you have fresh orange juice, why on earth would you even carry concentrate? Then I waited, and waited, and waited for my food. It was actually only about 10 minutes, which is a reasonable amount of time to wait for a meal, but I had been planning on a buffet with immediate access and absolutely nothing on the plate was being cooked and I was facing a column. I told myself that they were baking a fresh batch of biscuits for me and continued looking at the wall. They were not making a fresh batch of biscuits, but they were very tasty. High marks for the biscuits! They were for sure a highlight. The rest of the plate was generous, but not good. There were 3 slices of honeydew, 3 slices of pineapple, and 3 slices of cantalope. Each slice was about 1/4 of an inch thick and a full half circle of the fruit. Sadly, they were all underripe. The granola on the yogurt was very tasty and the berries were closer to ripe than the mellon, but still not quite there. I waited for my check, waited for her to take my card, and waited for it to come back - all while staring at my empty water glass that had not been refilled once since I finished it within 5 minutes of sitting down. Went for Sunday brunch. Had not been and I wanted to go for the biscuit bar. I expected some warm biscuits and assorted toppings and things since it seemed to be the big "Feature Item" in the advertising. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! There were 3 baskets of three different kinds of room temperature biscuits that had not been near an over for hours. There were assorted jars of jelly and some tasteless butter. There was gravy on the buffet, so maybe when there is not a buffet, the biscuit bar is more elaborate, but this was a big fail. The rest of the buffet was typical HOTEL Sunday brunch fare. The eggs were labeled as scrambled eggs and spinach, but there was nothing green in that mix except some tomatoes or red peppers and onions. The next pan was plain scrambled eggs and cheese, and they were cold and runny. The breakfast potatoes (not sure if they were fried or baked) were cold and had an odd texture. There was a pineapple pan cake that was sorely missing the pineapple flavor. The shaved Benton ham was great as was the prime rib. The blueberry sausage was a nice change from regular sausage. The oven baked bacon was tasteless and flat.. The chocolate caramel tarts we a big hit, as well as the lemon curd tarts. The custard pie was good if you skipped the crust...the crust was not baked enough and was a little better than raw dough. The bottomless mimosas are great if you like orange juice. We were there for 3 hours, and 2 people in our crowd drank them pretty consistently, at times pouring their own because the service was so spotty and because we were right next to the waiter station, and the drinkers walked out just as easily as they walked in. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Our server was new, and took 30+ minutes to bring us our first round of drinks. We then proceeded to order appetizers and salads, which all came out at the same time as the entrees. A plate or glass was never cleared the entire time- our table was FULL. After our food came the server never came back to ask how everything was or if he could get us anything else. After we waited for 30 minutes for our checks after finishing dinner (having not seen our server in over an hour,) a member of our party went to find the manager- not to complain- only to ask for our checks ( we had been there 3 hours.) she acted frustrated with him and stomped over to our table to ask how everything was. We told her it was actually a pretty bad experience and she challenged us asking "Well what was so bad about it?" We explained, she apologized but was still being extremely rude. Our checks were wrong 3 different times, even though we went around the table and told her exactly what each person had, since the server had not kept track. She discounted our checks but we still left extremely dissatisfied. The food was fine. Some peoples meals were cold but our orders were all correct. Nothing to go back for, though. read more

We had a great meal here while passing through Nashville. My husband loved the steak. I had the crab cake appetizer and the cauliflower side combined as my entree - both were delicious, well prepared and served fresh and fast too! Everyone was super nice and the restaurant itself is beautiful. Oh I don't want to forget to mention the biscuits! They melt in your mouth, such a nice treat. Staying at the Omni Hotel for a convention. Came for a late morning breakfast. I had the Nashville hot chicken and waffles. It came with this delicious whiskey maple syrup. The chicken was good combination of juicy, crunchy, and hot. Paired well with the sweetness of the waffles and syrup. My husband had the French toast which was made with cinnamon raisin bread. I was in town for a conference (I didn't stay at the Omni but some of my co-workers did) Ate two meals here. Dinner and Breakfast and both were sublime to me. We had the pickled shrimp as an appetizer. And aside from being too small for 4 people (we were really hungry, it probably would have suited two better) the biscuits were warm and delicious on what was a historically frigid night. for cocktails I ordered a bees knees and my co-worker ordered a gin and tonic. Both were very good and well made. The Bee's knees had the perfect honey to lemon ratio. For dinner three of us ordered the fried chicken, and one ordered the chicken pot pie. My sides were grits and cauliflower (don't ask me why I ordered a side of grits, I was a little brain dead) the grits were fine, sort of bland to be honest, but the cauliflower was AMAZING. One of my co-workers ordered brussell sprouts and they were...well burnt. The fried chicken was perfect. Honestly I still dream of that chicken. It was perfectly seasoned and fried and the leftovers I brought back to my room were definitely still crispy and wonderful the next night. So good. My co-workers chicken pot pie had A LOT of chicken in it. Not many veggies, which didn't thrill her. We didn't have dessert. The waiter that night was polite, attentive and knowledgeable. All around a lovely dining experience. The breakfast was their breakfast bar/buffet and I thought is was equally as delish. I had a chocolate chip biscuit that was so good. Warm and soft with the perfect amount of chocolate chips. The bacon, the sausage, the oatmeal and the regular biscuits were all delicious as well. This place was highly scored on another website. If you are even foody-tending, avoid this place. I am sure it is fine for breakfast if you are in the hotel. I should have known, but I have, in fact, had good meals at certain hotel restaurants. I had the buttermilk fried quail on blue cheese waffle appetizer and the crab cake appy, supposed to be a signature item. To his credit, the server warned me of the sweet sauce under the waffle. I should have listened. What was a great idea was completely lost in the sugary underbath. The crab cake was okay, but then put on a sweet slaw. Between the two, just too much sugar and not enough savory. Server was attentive and saves this place a star. read more
