    Watermelon drink special

I'm vegan, but my friends and family aren't, so I'm always on the lookout for places that serve both. Kitava is it! Came with a friend and loved it; I had the power bowl and it was so delicious. The sauce should be bottled and sold, it was so good. Everything just seemed so fresh, healthy, clean, and the energy was positive. My kid loved the chicken bites too! (Bonus: kids eat free on Tuesday evenings!) Came back a second time already, this time with my husband, who loved the fish and chips. We're looking forward to try brunch next! Other pluses: -Service is friendly and fast. -Street parking was easy. -the cucumber lime water is a lovely treat.

We have been to the Kitava in Oakland many times, this has been some of our favorite Kitava experiences. Very clean, tasty, and beautiful space. No seed oils, gluten, etc. It's not going to be dirty cheap because it's quality which we are okay with. The staff is friendly and gets things done. It's a perfect place to grab some food and hangout. A lot to choose from. The portion looks small-ish in the bowl, but we always feel full. If you love a good salad or bowl this is the place to come. Good for vegans and meat eaters. They have a self order kiosk, a regular staff order station, or you can seat yourself and order straight from the table with a QR code.

Loved this place! Such good vibes and really fresh, healthy food. My friend is vegan and suggested we give it a try, and we both left feeling like we hadn't had food this wholesome in a long time. Everything tasted so fresh--it was the kind of meal that just made you feel good afterward. We even got to meet the owner, who looks like he's been eating healthy his whole life! He told us they carefully source their ingredients, and honestly, you can tell after eating the food. Everything just tastes clean, fresh, and high quality. Another great bonus: on Tuesdays from 4-9 pM, kids can get a free kids meal with the purchase of an adult meal. Even the chicken nuggets tasted fresh and high quality. Definitely a place we'd come back to!

Honestly not bad. As a gluten free and allergen free type of spot, I know some people will appreciate this place exist. As for the food, it's not bad. The burrito bowl came with this chicken and it seasoned very well. The watermelon side salad was also a nice treat. My gf got the beef plate and that was very filling. Place is clean, and food comes out quick.

Kitava is a great spot for healthy and fresh food. There are plenty of balance salad and protein bowl options, with little soy. I enjoyed the Power Bowl with Plant Protein Patties (black bean based) added. The avocado and cilantro dressing paired perfectly with it and there were generous amounts of sweet potato, salad and avocado. My husband enjoyed the sesame chicken bowl and we were both pleasantly surprised by how filling everything was. We weren't big fans of the sauce that came with the sesame chicken bowl or the vegan brownie, but everything else was enjoyable that we had.

3.75/5 I was super excited for a gluten free restaurant in the area! I've never had Kitava before so wasn't sure what to expect. Ordered at the kiosk which was easy! Food came out pretty quickly. We ordered hibiscus cooler, chicken nuggets, fries, watermelon salad and the carrot ginger soup. Chicken and fries were really good and so crispy! Ketchup was a bit odd tasting. The watermelon salad was great and so refreshing. The hibiscus cooler was very watered down and had no flavor. Looked a bit different than the picture on the kiosk. The carrot ginger soup didn't look like the kiosk photo at all and was a completely different color. It had a lot of texture and was really overpowering. I'd like to come back and try a bowl or salad! There are no servers so I can't make many comments on that, but they got the food out quick. Restaurant was very clean and we sat outside under the umbrellas. Parking was fairly easy- lots of street parking.

So EXCITED to have Kitava in town. It is so conveniently located. Walking distance from the offices, target, BART, and right next door to Starbucks. As someone with celiac, I'm so happy to have Kitava nearby. So many wonderful options. From brunch, to lunch, to desserts ... just amazing. Please stop by and check them out.

After trying to get into a couple of other places to eat in DT Walnut Creek, I lucked out and found Kitava. Wow! Gluten free AND delicious in a stylish space with outdoor seating. I had the Paprika Chicken plate which came with rice and perfectly cooked Brocolli. The chicken was so flavorful and had a yummy dipping sauce. Chased it with a Marin Ginger lemongrass Kombucha (non-alcoholic) and it made a prefect stop. Yum! I'll be back!

This isn't my first time getting Kitava, but I usually get takeout so it was great to finally go in person today. The place is really nice inside and out. The outdoor patio is cozy and welcoming with its string lights and flowers, and the interior has a great, bright vibe with beautiful woven light fixtures and an open, airy feel. There's plenty of seating both inside and outside, and you can choose to order at the front or on a kiosk. I really appreciated how fast the food came out in just 10 minutes. They also have a really convenient, organized station with water, utensils, and to-go boxes and bags if needed. What we ordered: Crispy Brussels Sprouts with Chipotle Aioli - Crispy, flaky, and soft in the middle without being dry at all. The chipotle aioli was just okay, and the Brussels sprouts actually tasted better with the jalapeno aioli. Kitava Fries - Crispy and just plain good. I've tried them before with the ketchup; the ketchup was really sour to me, but it still tasted good paired with the fries. Build-Your-Own (BYO) Bowl - I usually always get the BYO bowl, switch up my toppings and veggies, and every single time it's delicious. Today I skipped the base and usually get their plant based protein patties, but since they were out, I went with chimichurri mushrooms, kale slaw, za'atar cauliflower, corn and bean salad, and guacamole with jalapeno lime dressing. I like both their jalapeno lime dressing and herb ranch. They both taste great with the bowl. My bowl today was good, well seasoned, and tasted like a fresher, healthier version of Chipotle. I decided to get a side of fries and mix them right into my bowl instead of a grain base, and it took it to another level, turning it into the best kind of loaded fries. Watermelon Cooler - Refreshing and not too sweet. They have a good amount of vegan options on their menu, though some items are vegetarian or contain animal products, so just make sure to double check when ordering. As a vegan, I really appreciate having such delicious options available. The staff are very nice as well. A huge plus is they use fruit oil instead of seed oils in a lot of their products, so this is the perfect spot if you're actively avoiding seed oils. Overall, a great dine in experience, and I will definitely continue to order from Kitava.

I was genuinely impressed by the quality of the food! This was my first time eating here and I'll definitely come back. The restaurant looks amazing inside and out. This is a nice spot for a quick bite or lunch date with some friends or family. I ordered for pick up and my food was ready before I arrived, still maintaining freshness and accuracy. I decided to try their most popular meal the Build Your Own Bowl with Jasmine Rice, Sweet Potato, Crispy Chicken and Cumin Beans with a side of Chipotle Aioli (Mild Spice). Everything was filling, well balanced and seasoned perfectly. I'm convinced every item was portioned, because my meal wasn't over powered by pounds of rice.

Visiting from Southern California while following a strict Whole30 diet for health reasons, I was so happy to find a place that made eating well feel like a treat. I ordered a BYO bowl with cauliflower rice, paprika chicken, mushrooms, plantains, and Green Goddess dressing. Every single bite was flavorful, fresh, and incredibly satisfying. The cauliflower rice deserves a special shoutout--it was hands down the best cauliflower rice I've ever eaten! The combination of ingredients was perfectly balanced, and I left feeling full without feeling weighed down. I only wish you had a location in Pasadena. I'd be a regular! Highly recommend for anyone looking for healthy food that doesn't sacrifice flavor.

I love the food here!!! It's like the fancy version of the hot food bar at Whole foods grocery stores but way better. I had the new Chipotle protein meal with fingerling potatoes and a fresca. Everything had flavor and was light, fresh and tasty. The avocado goddess sauce is my favorite, the base is greek yogurt .

    Power Bowl with Protein Patties

Everything about this place is terrific. Beautiful decor and ambience, tasty and nutritious food, kind staff and reasonable prices. Very hard to execute the way they do. When you are infinity scrolling through Yelp trying to decide what to eat, just stop here as you'll be rewarded with a healthy and delicious meal. I had the Power Bowl with the protein patties which was very filling. Kitava is comparable to True Food in many aspects. Will definitely be returning regularly.

The second drink was a mojito and although it was good, it was really nothing to write about. There was a lot is dishes I wanted to try, so after a long debate we settled for the Salt n Pepper Shrimp and the Pork Belly Baos appetizers. The shrimp was the better platter in my opinion. Yes, both dishes were delicious, but the shrimp just hit different... Salty, crispy, peppery and all without it feeling heavy. The baos were also good, but not excellent. Although the pork belly filling was really yummy, the buns themselves felt a little too hard and not what I'm used to. In order to find good matcha I usually have to go out to Berkeley or SF but decided to give this spot a try considering my friend was visiting from Oakland. Upon arrival, I appreciated the parking available for customers. However after noticing some workers were cleaning up, we quickly realized we had actually came ten minutes before closing! We felt so bad so we rushed in to place our order as quickly as we could. We noticed as one of the workers were getting ready to close the main door, she was a bit rude to the other worker seemingly about doing other closing tasks. We overlooked this but were glad the other kind worker welcomed us in. I ordered mango matcha and my friend ordered a strawberry matcha which were great choices! However, I was glad I chose mango! I think their recipe definitely is better than other competing matcha spots in the area. As we waited for our drinks we noticed the cute sign they had! Definitely a nice touch to the shops ambiance. As we were getting ready to leave, the kind worker who took our order even asked us if we wanted any of their leftover pastries! We chatted and she mentioned how they were closing for a week long summer break. My friend and I picked pastries based on how they looked, and she even proceeded to tell us a bit about the flavors they had. Although I don't consume gluten free products myself, this was definitely a plus for other customers who might. When we got to the car we tried some pastries. I fell in love with the churro pastry and my friend enjoyed the muffin with seeds on top (reference picture included). Now, I will definetely be coming back and getting their pastries and matcha, thanks to that amazing worker! (wish I caught her name)

Some of the clientele can be a bit rude if you are not who they expect in that environment (iykyk), but that's Danville/Contra Consta County in general I think. For ex. a grandma came in with her grandson. I smiled and waved at him on the way in. While they were leaving, she completely hit my chair to the point where I almost fell out of it, and she didn't even apologize, but that's not the cafe's fault. I only write this to let you know expect some of that behavior. Another elderly gentleman kept coming in front of me while I was completing my bakery order b/c he couldn't wait to be served, etc. but other elderly patrons were lovely. Ordered a spring omelet and got something else instead (with meat!), and they corrected the mistake w/o making me feel bad and gave me extra potatoes. I got to steep my tea the way I wanted to!!! Next time I'll ask for extra hot water. Sat outside during the light rain by myself, so pleasant. Got baked goods and I shouldn't have assumed they didn't have proper pasty boxes for it all, they do. You just have to ask that all your baked goods don't go in one box. The amicable server last time, took my order this time as well. She strives to make everyone feel comfortable and the morning rush shows this. Got 4 cupcakes and she suggested the mango, omA so freaking good! Not too sweet or greasy which is a common problem with dedicated gluten free goods. I only ordered 4 cookies this time and both the scones. I should have gotten a whole box of those lemon blueberry scones, divine! Came home and my daughter said you didn't get a brownie, oh gosh, sorry, next time! This is by far the best dedicated gluten-free restaurant in all of the Bay Area. It trumps Mariposa's, it trumps Pushkin's in Sacramento (not in the Bay Area, but I have enjoyed their restaurant while I am there), it trumps Stacks which have dedicated gluten-free menus, but I've always had reactions after eating there.
