Well I finally got to try this restaurant and I was pleased with the modern upscale atmosphere, the pleasant very friendly wait staff and the selection on the menu but I have to say the ramen was not my favorite! I ordered the tonkatsu ramen and maybe it's just my taste but the broth and pork didn't have the depth of flavor I was expecting because I had some really excellent Ramen last week somewhere else. The portion was good the noodles were good but I wasn't crazy about the shredded bamboo shoots or the other toppings and it didn't have any corn so I will definitely be back to try something else like maybe the yakitori or the sushi tacos!? read more

The food is amazing, I'm so sad I'm only now writing up a review. We are frequent diners and Katharine continues to be the best server here! There are other servers here who also do a magnificent job! Highly recommend the ramen with golden noodles and the hot green tea! Kids also love this place. It's a nice go to restaurant especially now that the weather is changing. Very nice place to go no matter what the occasion! It also doesn't hurt that there's a mochi donut place next door! The inside decor was so fun and authentic my daughter was in her happy place. They even have Totoro on the wall. Thank you for coming to St. John's and adding another delightful dining option to our community. Not a ton of yakitori places in Jax, so I was excited to try the offerings. The menu is simple with just enough choices to not be confusing for someone new to this type of Japanese Cuisine. I ordered several things to try, including their house Kinya Ramen. If you're not opposed to pork, get it with the Charsiu pork. The broth was rich and fatty and everything you want in a ramen broth. It just enrobes the noodles nicely. They had several different types of yakitori which is a grilled skewered meat. I tried the chicken thigh, chicken wings, and pork belly. All were fantastic and were all seasoned so well. It brought me back to what I had growing up. It was even accompanied by a side of Togarashi which made me appreciate it even more. They do have a few taco-esque hand rolls which were also pretty good. Staff were very attentive. Place was clean and inviting. Will definitely be back to try their spicy ramen. read more

This ramen is more than 5 stars!! The pork broth has plenty of rich flavor. It's not that salty at all. Chashu is soft enough to melt in mouth.(it is not salty either! Excellent.) Half cooked egg yolk. Seaweed and all the other stuff make great balance. Some of ramen is too oily to make its rich flavor, but this one is not. I was so impressed. Ample parking at Durbin Park. Friendly staff from maitre d to servers. Noise level is moderate. We tried the Ramen Combo for dinner. We had Kinya Ramen, Tonton Ramen, pork gyoza, pork buns and tried the plum wine and pineapple flavored nigori. First plum wine I had that actually had the plum in it. The broth of our ramen was very tasty. The pork meat in the bun is very tender compared to other places that when you take a bite, the entire meat goes with your 1st bite leaving you with the rest of the bun. It is so nice to have a ramen place in the neighborhood. Definitely a must try for those who have never been. And for us, new go to ramen place. read more

Take your business down the street to Oola Mala or Kazu and save yourself the headache... Planned ahead of time so I could pick up kids and grab takeout at same time to avoid the hunger meltdowns. The restaurant called and said they had some system issue with my order and they were trying to figure it out and would call me back to confirm the order or get more details if needed. They didn't call back. When I called to find out if I should head over, they just said they couldn't fulfill it. So instead of having dinner ready, I had to pull over on the side of the road in the rain with a crying child and figure out dinner all over again from somewhere else. There was no reason for the lack of communication. This was at 6pm, not right before close which would have been the only reason I could think of for them not to fulfill the order. Very sad to write this review. We have been to Kinya a dozen times and have been so happy that an authentic, excellent ramen restaurant was open in SJC. We have always enjoyed our experience, and having traveled extensively in Japan I can attest that the food was on point. We arrived at 850 tonight, when the restaurant closed at 930. We had a really rough day, and needed some soothing soup. The hostess rolled her eyes at us when we walked in and said "we are closing soon". I asked, "in 40 min right?", she huffed grabbed some menus, and said again, "we are closing soon", to which I said, "right in 40 min?" She said, "is that all right?" I answered, "of course", not really knowing what she was asking. The waiter came over and told us it was last call, again it's 40 min before closing time, but as we are, or should I say, were, regulars we were ready to order. The staff, had all the tables cleared of their settings and were counting their tips by 9pm. The food was fine but I was so put off by being made to feel like an imposition for giving this restaurant my business, that we really didn't enjoy it and finished up our meal at 915, well before closing. Look if you want to close at 9 change your closing time till 9. Or have a posted last seating. But please don't make us feel like an unwelcome imposition for showing up 40 min before closing. The nachos were delicious. My husband and I both got a ramen meal. The pork and chicken broth were good. We got a side of chili paste to make it spicy to our own liking. First off, the seating there is very fancy and classy although they said they don't serve tea yet even though it says so online and on the menu. Then when we ordered our food, we got some ramen and some appetizers and shortly realized there's a combo for both of those to get a deal. We called over the waiter to change it to that one because it's basically what we ordered so we can get the deal but they said they couldn't due to "technical difficulties".
