Tried the lunch specials at this little sushi spot. Nice relaxing ambiance. Servers were efficient. Lunch pricing was good. We enjoyed the Hibachi Shrimp. The shrimp was the best part and the seven shrimp were cooked perfectly with a seared crust, veggies were crisp and sautéed well, rice was just okay. The 3 Rolls Sushi Special was mid. We picked the J.B. Roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll, and California Roll. They were okay rolls, but not great. No fancy plating for the sushi and the rolls seemed smaller than other similar sushi spots. The salmon in the sushi was not the highest quality. The specials also included clear soup and green salad with ranch or ginger dressing. We also received a complimentary holiday roll appetizer. It was a fun place to try for lunch and a decent price, but not as high quality sushi as I would desire. We have a favorite Sushi restaurant we have been patronizing for 20 years, but that doesn't stop us from occasionally going off the reservation to try others. In this case we were very pleasantly surprised. We found ourselves at a Yelp event literally next door, and popped in here for dinner afterwards. Service was quick and attentive, in fact far better than most places we frequent. Food quality was also exceptional. We had Kani salads, fried gyoza, and a number of sushi rolls - both cooked and raw. The restaurant also supplied a Holiday roll on the house that was quite good. Sushi restaurants can be quite slow to assemble the fish items and deliver them to your table, and we were amazed at how quickly all of our selections came out. This is my 3 rd visit to Fancy Sushi & my 1 st time for dinner. (I've enjoyed their lunch specials in the past. ) Tonight, I dropped in with a few friends for a quick bite before a movie located conveniently across the street from the Durbin Cinemark. We were greeted as soon as we walked in & were shown to one of the many booths that line the restaurant. For starters we shared an order of edamame. Before any of our ordered arrived we were presented with a complementary order of a tasty fried crab with something else inside, perhaps cheese? Nice touch, who gives anything complementary these days? After we had this our edamame arrived. Then my miso soup arrived, which I thought was very tasty. One of my friends ordered goyza as an appetizer & gave it a thumbs up. For dinner I ordered a spicy tuna roll. I think they gave me just a tuna roll because there was absolutely no spice. I ate it anyway & it was good. Not my favorite but still good. My friend ordered a roll that made me a little jealous. It was a large roll of something crispy( not sure what). She said it was excellent. I was sorry I didn't get the name. We ordered a undon noodle dish to share. It had chicken, onion a few pieces of zucchini & some carrots. My mom and I went to pick up lunch with my 2 year old. We ordered through the DoorDash app. I parked in front and my mom went inside since my toddler was asleep. My mom came back out and said, they won't give me your order because they said you need a receipt. So I gave her my phone with the confirmation number, she came back out and said, they asked for a telephone number. We switched places and I went inside and asked what was going on. The two people at the desk asked me if I had a phone number (said they had 2 Shannons- however, they only had my order with my name at the front desk), and they asked me my name I said it's Schannon and it's spelled differently- I told them my order. I then had to wait at the front desk while the app crashed and they finally gave me my order and apologized. The other person walked away while I was talking. Won't be back. read more

We came here for dinner on a whim and so glad we got to try this sushi spot! The interior is a bit more upscale than your typical sushi restaurant, but it is still more on the casual side. The host and server were both very friendly and wonderful. I ordered the spicy tuna and king crab roll. Both were so flavorful! The avocado and mango in the king crab roll were a great touch! My go-to order wherever I go is usually a spicy tuna roll, and Fancy Sushi's was among the best I've had! I love the seasoning that the rice is coated in. My husband got the sashimi entree (I should have taken a photo, but I was a bit hungry and forgot!) and the sashimi pieces were MASSIVE! The name says it all, fancy sushi has a menu full of bold sushi and comforting classics! After hearing mixed reviews, i figured "i'll be the judge of that" and made my way over for some Japanese favorites. To start, I was offered a complementary soup and fried imitation krab. I appreciated the gesture while I had a moment to look over the menu. The cold maki appetizer caught my eye and I wasn't sure it would be enough for my meal so I thought i'd order 2 pieces of tuna sashimi on the side to play it safe. Our server was attentive with refilling our drinks and clearing our empty soup cups from our way while we enjoyed the ambience. The food came out respectable, yet relatively fast pace despite how busy the restaurant was. The cold maki came to the table first and it's presentation was just beautiful. The bright salmon eggs that lie on top of almost purple-y tuna and fresh yellowtail, were hugged by a pale green cucumber wrap, garnished with scallions making this dish complex. From the planning alone, there was a balance of textures and colors. Thankfully, when I took a bite there was a lovely balance of flavors. Sometimes, looks can be deceiving; but not in this case. This dish was just as you would picture it, comforting flavors with bold plating and fresh ingredients! I could say the same about the tuna sashimi, it's a very basic side dish however the plating Was a pleasure for the eyes, with all the angular cut of the fish and the crunchy garnishes, The textures worked in harmony together and the dish was visually appealing. I would definitely recommend fancy sushi to a friend and I am excited to explore more of the menu in the near future. Beautiful presentation of the entrées We chose the delicious shrimp hibachi dinner. It was nicely seasoned and plentiful with large plump shrimp, rice, grilled veggies, pan fried noodles along with garden salad and clear soup. Enough for 2 to share! It's been said that dinner is not complete without appetizers! Haha! The shrimp tempura appetizer was delicious. This was not heavy of tempura batter or oily. The appetizer consisted of 2 sweet potato slices, one onion, 2 mushrooms, and 2 broccoli. Are you a fan of ginger? The dipping sauce has a nice ginger flavor/scent! Simplicity is always G(*‿*) (*‿*)d in my book....The steamed dumplings and vibrant green seaweed salad was also a big winner too, not salty at all. Situation goes from bad to worse. The food is always just OK nothing spectacular, we go there because it's convenient, only a 5 minute drive from the house. Service on the other hand is terrible. NEVER AGAIN WILL I GO HERE! Gave them a 2nd chance because of the convenience. Months ago had a take out order that took an over an hour to pickup but was promised in 30 minutes. Last night really put the nail in the coffin for us. We placed order at 6:20, told us it be ready in 25-30 minutes, arrived at 6:50, food wasn't ready, told me it be another 10 minutes, fine waited. Checked back in at 7, was told it was being bagged. Continued waiting, was asked to pay for order, I was a little hesitant to pay up front but did so anyways at 7:10. Food did not get into my hands till 7:20. I understand there's staffing issues and all but come on now, if you can't get it done in the time period you quote tell the customer it's an hour instead of 30 minutes! I know it's a personal problem but I was lugging around two small young kids and scheduling is everything to me. So when I get home, started to eat and tried the miso soup and it was SOUR as in SPOILED. I was very hesitant to call but my wife suggested that we should inform them so they don't serve others the same soup and they get sick. So made the call and there was no apology or anything, just "ok I'll let them know." So definitely they have lost my business and there are so much better choices around the area. read more

Ordered the teppanyaki for takeout. Chicken was over cooked and dry. Nothing had any flavor at all. Tasted like there was zero seasoning used anywhere in the meal. We had a craving for sushi and new the new Fancy Sushi in the area had recently opened so we decided we would order from there and check it out. We ordered for pick up and found their online page easy to order from. The only issue is that there prices seemed higher then our usual just up the road but a number of rolls sounded good so we ordered a few. We went with the: Fish Tempura Roll, Volcano Roll, Sweet Mango Roll, Double Salmon Roll, Crazy Girl Roll, and the Lobster General Roll. When we can to pick up it was pretty easy since we paid online so we basically walked in and walked out. We came home and were really to eat. When opening everything up we realized that we most have ordered enough to get a free Holiday Roll which was nice. I first got into the Fish Tempura Roll which was not great. The fish seemed over cooked and that made the roll quite dry. I also comes with cucumber in. If it had come with avocado or cream cheese instead of cucumber it probably would have seen less dry. Next I moved on the the Double Salmon Roll which looked pretty good. The salmon on top was good but the spicy salmon inside was more like how most sushi restaurants do spicy tuna. You know tiny pieces of chopped up fish mix with spicy mayo, and tempera flakes which I'm not a fan of. This was the first sushi place I have been to that have it done this way. The Lobster General was good but just didn't taste as good and rich as to what was in it, (Lobster Tempura, Avocado, Spicy Tuna Inside, Craw Fish Salad on Top and Eel & Spicy Mayo Sauce). The Volcano Roll was your typical Volcano Roll but just more expense then most places. My favorite ended up not even being on of my rolls but the Crazy Girl Roll. The Seared Tuna on top is what made it for sure. All and all the sushi for the most part was just OK. We might be back and maybe try some different rolls or might just be better off going with the hibachi options. read more

Fast flavorful and fresh! Tried this place today at lunch and was very pleased. Naruto wrap was so good (on menu as "Cold Maki"), my friend and I also really enjoyed the hibachi. Steak cooked perfectly, shrimp so fresh (and I am picky about shrimp!) All food came out fast - even the stuff they had to cook. We got a complimentary appetizer I forgot to photograph but it was a tempura surimi that was perfectly cooked so I expect their fried offerings are just as good. I'll be back soon. read more

Beautiful restaurant. The staff is not personable but they are efficient. I wouldn't ask too many questions about the menu, recommendations, or if what you have ordered, comes with soup. You will get the "no soup for you" look and a snappy yes. Of course it comes with soup like most places, but we didn't get the soup until we asked. The sushi isn't the best in town, but it does satisfy your hunger...and "miso" hungry after work! So if you "fancy" service with more of a willingness to be helpful, this is not the stop for you. We placed an order online, picking the tuna roll, Fancy Q roll, and salmon skin & cucumber roll. When I walked inside, there was a glass wall of water dripping down, separating the dining room from the front entrance. Everything was shiny and new! I waited a minute or two for a young man to come up to the front and have me ask him about an online order placed. He checked and said it was still being prepared, so he offered a row of seats for me to sit in while I waited. I noticed quite a few people come in, either to place orders or pick up orders. I didn't have to wait long, as the young man brought my order to me. When I got home and unpacked the food, I noticed that they gave us an extra order of roll, a fried crab roll. Everything was beautifully packaged and separated based on orders. My Fancy Q roll was excellent, with fresh avocado, spicy tuna, white tuna, and avocado crunch. My fiance liked his tuna roll, but he also tried my Fancy Q roll and really liked it. The fried crab roll was a joint favorite as well. Generous portions, prepared well and fresh. Fresh vegetables, rice, all of it. The Philly roll was the only let down. Not bad, but pre-made in house and chilled. If you've had sushi with fresh, warm rice, you know the difference. Every thing was flavorful, hot, and prepared to perfection. Unfortunately this third visit, all had changed. Same time of day so not sure if that matters but everything was well below normal standards. The soup was watery and tasteless with less ingredients. The salad was smaller and again bland ginger dressing. The rice was bland and wet, possibly old. The vegetables were cooked way to high, burnt edges tasting of char and raw in the center. And the chicken was considerably smaller with zero taste. The Philly roll was the exact same. May try again but it all seemed like a new direction rather than a single bad experience.
