    5. Healthy Veggie Pot
    Colbie S.

The Vegan Chef Challenge inspired me to give this restaurant a try, and I'm so glad I did! I ordered the Healthy Veggie Pot and the Tofu Tempeh Sushi Roll. Both were fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. I really hope they keep these vegan options on the menu, because I'd love to come back and explore the rest. My server was incredibly kind and attentive, which made the experience even better. At the end of dinner, she gave us a coin to go play the claw machine.

NEW FAVE!!! great food, fair prices, and the sushi is so fresh and delicious!!!! Love the ramen, love the steak and sausage skewers so much!! Although, they have been out of sausage lately, and I can only hope they can get more soon. :'( We really can't stop eating here; they have so many yummy options! (don't get the jalapeño poppers though) We haven't had a chance to try drinks yet, and soon I hope to try the seafood boil!

Came here for a lunch and wow it was so cute! The waitress was super sweet and attentive. The decor is adorable! We got yummy lavender lemonades to start. Love the presentation. I got the sweet potato roll and a spicy Hawaiian role? It was delicious. I will definitely come back.

A Mother's day treat! My littles and their grownups took me to Oola Mala for Mother day. Delicious! I had a crab boil, while my DIL had Ramen. My son tried Sushi. All was reported as fantastic! Our waitress was nice and helpful. My littles enjoyed their chicken tenders and loved that it was delivered by a robot. The place had a friendly fun feel to it. It was a good time.

Oola Mala was really good. The atmosphere is bright, playful and cute. The sushi was delicious and the servers were very pleasant to be around. Some of our items were delivered by the robot, another cute touch! Can't wait to go again for date night.

We ate dinner here last night. Loved the food, got the tempura fried stuffed jalapeños and they were very tasty. We got a few sushi rolls, the matador was amazing. Overall super happy with our experience. The server was great. The restaurant had a cute interior and comfortable chairs.

This place is a 10! It's truly a hidden gem in St. Johns/Durbin area. Modern atmosphere and the service is great. The food is absolutely delicious. Had the Crab Boil and Chicken Teriyaki dinner. Y'all need to check out this place.

I saw Oola Mala mentioned on a TikTok of the Durbin area and thought it looked fun, so I took my teenager for lunch on our day off. It's a new space and the vibe is super cute. We were seated quickly and served promptly. While they do have a bar with some really pretty cocktails, we stuck with iced tea and a blueberry soda. After all, it was lunch on a Monday. He ordered one of the ramen dishes and I had the udon noodles. Both were huge and came steaming hot. I had my noodles with just veggies which was perfect, and the ramen was loaded with pork, mushrooms, corn, and noodles. We didn't have sushi this time, but I saw several orders go by and it looks absolutely fresh and gorgeous. I can't wait to go back to try it!

This place is such a hip, cool, and entertaining place! I love how everything here is themed. From the chopsticks, to the napkins, to the takeout bag, when I say everything has the logo printed on it. I mean everything. They also have 2 claw machines in the front that are super cute too. As far as the food goes, I ordered the oola mala pot and my friend ordered the ramen. The oola mala pot had a wonderful soup base that you can tell took a lot of time to make. You get to choose how spicy the food you get too. The eggs are stewed with a little bit of your onsen egg runny middle, which could be a little less hard boiled, but the flavor is fantastic. The meatballs are all store bought and they're standard. The ramen has a lighter tasting broth and the meat is very well stewed. The service here is really good. They hire a bunch of what seems like either high school or college students and they all seem very genuine and eager. This place also does a great job of advertising on social media. Ok, well now there are some realistic reviews. The most competitive place against oola mala is the chain tasty pot off Southside. They sell very similar items, but the difference is that oola has sushi too but they don't have boba tea, but they do offer a selection of cocktails. I think this place is geared towards more western and aesthetic tastes. It's also a little more expensive here than it is a tasty pot, and Tastypot has more food and dipping sauces, whereas oola mala doesn't. I can see this place really thriving in the future when the area is built out.

We wanted to try this place. The reviews looked good, so off we went. We walked in and the place seemed relatively empty. It was a Monday night, so that wasn't a big surprise. The restaurant is actually pretty big with 3 different sections. It is decorated very nicely. When you walk in, you are seeing a few tables and the bar area. Just beyond that is the sushi bar. We were promptly escorted to a table. Sat down, received our utensils and drinks. We had some questions and those were answered. Started with a couple of appetizers. The spring rolls were okay. The spicy mussels were really good. For our entrees, we ordered the special hot pot and some sushi. We ordered the hot pot mild but it was still kind of spicy. While spicy, it did seem a little bland. The sushi was pretty good. The downside started before we received our meal. In case a family. The kids were really loud at the entrance. They continued to be quite loud throughout the balance of our meal. They were also climbing up on the furniture. Surprisingly, the staff didn't do anything to try to call the young boys down. We asked if they could do something but got a quick reply of "I wish". Atmosphere - 5 Feed - 3+ Service - 3 Overall - 3

Came for the Galaxy drink and stayed for the lamb hotpot. The Galaxy is a gorgeous shimmery tequila cocktail that tastes as good as it looks. They have a selection of hot pot combos, and I was very happy with the lamb hot pot. It was savory with a rich broth full of accompaniments that could easy become two meals. The price was reasonable and the ambiance was energetic and clean. It would make a fun date night or night out with friends.

We used to love this place for lunch on Fridays but haven't been in a while. Do not be fooled by the 4.5 stars this place used to be amazing but it's gone downhill. We cancelled our order and walked out, I cannot eat raw fish at a place this filthy. Dust bunnies on the floor (this picture doesn't do the filth on the floor justice because I was trying to be discreet). Who knows what is streaked on the bar fridges. Drinks and mixers sitting out for the 15 minutes we were sitting there). Not to mention I have a picture in my phone of the menu from 9 months ago and the prices of the rolls have gone up $3!

Definition of nigiri ==== literally this emoji
    Chanelle M.

I ordered Valentine's Day dinner to go. It was delicious. However I had asked last minute (my fault) to alter my order slightly . I had ordered an appetizer sashimi but I changed my mind and wanted nigiri style. I asked if they can give me nigiri instead. I don't mind paying extra if needed. I was then kind of snapped at saying it's sushi not nigiri. Nonetheless they accepted my request, however there is no need to be rude about it. But just so the next time someone asks for nigiri instead of sushi I'll place the definition below so we can all learn and do better. Have a good night

The food placed on the bar appeared frozen rather than fresh, which was concerning for a hot pot experience. I ordered the Tom Yum soup base, and it was honestly one of the worst I've had. The flavor was unpleasant, and after putting my food into the pot, it completely ruined the meal to the point where I couldn't eat any of it. To make matters worse, I ordered a Sex on the Beach cocktail, and it tasted extremely watered down with almost no flavor. Overall, the only positive part of this experience was the restaurant's aesthetics. Unfortunately, good décor can't make up for poor service and bad food. I will not be returning.

We visited on a Friday for lunch, and the dining room was about 40% full--comfortable, not crowded, and easy to enjoy. ** Pros ** * Atmosphere: -- The space is surprisingly nice for a buffet. Two walls feature projected moving murals, and another showcases a large mountain scene. It creates a relaxing, modern vibe. * Food Quality: -- Everything we sampled--and we sampled a lot in small portions--was consistently good. -- Temperatures were spot‑on: soups were hot, desserts were properly chilled. -- Flavors were on par with other Asian buffets in Jacksonville, and in some cases better. -- The hibachi station is on the smaller side, offering two meats and a handful of vegetables. It's possible they expand options at dinner. -- Sushi selection was solid, with all the standard rolls you'd expect. -- The pork bun was the best I've had in town. It was light and had a great taste. * Value: At around $14 per person for lunch, we felt the price matched the quality and variety offered. ** Cons ** * Limited Variety: The overall assortment isn't as large as some of the newer buffets that have opened in the past year. Maybe the assortment is a bit larger at dinner or on the weekends. ** Overall ** We felt the visit was worth the drive from the Southside, and we'd happily stop by again when we're in the area.

We ordered the squid stir fry and pork ribs, and the flavors were great, but there were some differences in the dishes. Squid stir fry: This dish was incredible--definitely the best in Jacksonville. The squid was tender and perfectly cooked, not chewy at all. The stir fry had an amazing balance of spices, and there were no fillers like rice cakes or too many vegetables drowning out the squid's flavor. The dish was packed with flavor, and each bite was a combination of savory, spicy, and a slight sweetness that complemented the seafood perfectly. It was the standout dish of the meal and one I'll definitely be coming back for. Pork ribs: While the ribs were tender, they were too sweet for my liking, and the flavor felt a bit one-dimensional. The sauce was heavy on the sweetness, which made the ribs feel a little cloying after a while. They could benefit from a bit more balance with some acidity or spice. In terms of portions, Kim's Korean BBQ is generous. The rice comes in a half bowl, so you'll need to order more if you're craving extra, and the Bonchon (fried chicken) is only available with a full meal or as an additional charge, which is something to keep in mind. The prices are on the pricier side, especially when compared to other Korean places in town, but the taste and authenticity make it worth it. The owners are Korean and will speak to you in Korean if you're comfortable with the language. The staffing was a little overwhelmed, as the lady owner seemed to be doing most of the work, and at one point, you could hear her directing her husband at the register to assist with various tasks. This led to a bit of a longer wait for the food, but it was understandable given that they were a bit understaffed. One thing I really appreciated was the cleanliness of the place. Kim's is one of the cleaner Korean restaurants in the area, which is always a plus. Despite the staffing hiccups and the slightly sweet pork ribs, the overall experience was great. I'll definitely be coming back for that squid stir fry and to try more of their authentic dishes!

You can also opt for a dry stir fry version of the ingredients and skip the $3 soup upcharge. There was a variety of classic hot pot ingredients to choose from, like beef, pork, fish balls, seaweed, and more. The sauce bar had peanut sauce, garlic, cilantro, kimchi, chili oil, soy sauce, fish sauce, black vinegar, sesame oil, hoisin sauce, and ketchup. I recommend mixing peanut sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, chili oil, and cilantro. All the ingredients and sauces were fresh and kept at the right temperature. We tried the tomato broth (delicious! It leans more towards a thick tomato soup than a light broth with tomatoes) and the herbal chicken broth (my favorite of the two, hearty chicken flavor with a hint of Chinese herbs). The soups were SO delicious. A week later, and I'm still craving them. The ingredients were fresh and perfectly cooked. This is a must try for hot pot lovers. I really like that you can experience a variety of ingredients without the pressure of "getting your money's worth" like at an all you can eat place. The staff were really welcoming, helpful, and worked quickly. I also love the look of the restaurant. It reminded me of similar eateries back in China.
