This is a Thai restaurant in a strip off beach Blvd a friend said they really enjoyed the food here and we needed to try it so I was excited to go! Walking in they have the built in booths where it's like your own private area which is really cool! Started with an app sampler which was delicious! Spring rolls, egg rolls, fried shrimp, curry crab wontons , no complaints all tasted great nice and crispy! Next we got coconut soup, Tom kha, I love this soup, this was a more savory version with hardly any sweet creamy coconut notes in it, still good but not my fav version. Next we got pad see ew, flat noodles in a sweet and savory sauce with veggies and chicken, delicious!! This dish was exactly how I like it, flavorful with crisp veggies, yum! House fried rice, with all proteins including crab! Yummy!! The seasoning on it was very delicate! To top it off, mango sticky rice, De- lish!!!!

Overall, great flavored dishes but extremely little portions. The atmosphere was very cute and they had Thai-style booths in the restaurant. I'd recommend the drunken noodles or the red curry, both had really good bursts of flavor that hit the spot. They were both sweet and spicy, the red curry's coconut flavor sold the dish. The only complaint would be the curry dish's serving size is the size of a kid's portion. Do not get the crispy duck, the serving size was about 4 small slices of duck for a pretty high price, and they admitted the portion size for duck shrank in the past 2 years. The fried rice didn't have any flavor, so I wouldn't recommend ordering it. I was really excited to try this place but my family was disappointed by the small serving size.

Food was good, cool seating. Not super family friendly, no changing room in woman's restaurant. Have to change your child on their floor or out in the booth in the restaurant...

Had to stop one of our favorite Thai spots they never dissapoint. Great tasting food with the hospitality of a family owned restaurant. All the dishes are seasoned perfectly with just the right amount of spice to your liking. If in the area give them a try you won't be disappointed.

Crispy Duck and it's still crispy even when taken to-go!

Hands down our favorite Thai restaurant, and not just in Jax! Been coming here for over 10 years and the food has not changed. It's just as delicious as it was the very first time we dined. Note: hours have changed since covid. They are now open until 8:30 on week days and 9:30 on weekends, with last seating 30 min prior to closing. The crispy duck has always been a long time favorite of mine, and today I even learned that it's just as crispy and delicious when taken to-go! The duck is boneless and a mix of perfectly tender and crispy. It is served on top of a bed of veggies in a light brown sauce with a dark brown sweet and sour type sauce for the duck on the side. If you're a fan of duck, this dish is to die for. Another one of our favorites is the pad thai. Trust me when I say that I've had this dish at tons of restaurants throughout the years, and none have ever compared to here. For being such a basic staple dish, it's never nearly as good as what Sala Thai does. Other notable mentions: Sala Thai fried rice, red and panang curries, pad see ew, appetizer sampler, and Thai tea. No matter where we've traveled (NYC, Cali, Toronto, Orlando, and other foodie cities), Sala Thai has remained at the top of our list. Give it a shot and you won't be disappointed!

My go to place to get Thai food, I always get the pork Pad Thai and I have to eat half of my boyfriend gets the red curry with extra bamboo shoots and he is actually the person who introduced me to this place. I love to eat in for the cozy dining experience and amazing staff. They're very knowledgeable and offer good suggestions and are speedy, not to mention so sweet. The style of the restaurant is very comforting especially the booths which are my favorite. If you like sweet tea I recommend trying the Thai tea, you will become addicted it's so good. So grateful for an amazing local Thai restaurant near me!

Sala Thai!! One of my favorite Thai restaurants on the Southside of Jax. Always start off with the amazing Thai tea and then on to some crab Rangoon's (they call them something different though) and my favorite yellow curry with Jasmine rice. The flavors in the yellow curry are so amazing and I usually end up eating it all in one sitting. Don't forget to grab a couple of Thai teas to go, you'll regret it if you don't!! They are really trying to focus on social distancing but they are still pretty busy! I dined in and had a great experience!

I got Pad Thai with tofu no bean sprouts. The portion size was large, enough for leftovers. I got the spice level hot and it delivered! I got it to go but after going into the restaurant to pick it up, I would definitely like to eat in because of the overall vibe. The total was $18 which is a little pricey but typical for a pad thai dish of this size. I would say more tofu would be nice, it was a smaller amount than I would have hoped for.

Came here on a whim. So happy we did! It's tucked away in a strip mall across from sams club but don't let that fool you. The inside is just the best. I love the booth sheeting which is a U shape to sit many people. They have lots of tables too if that's you're preference. Also our server was the sweetest woman ever she took such good care of us with refills and checking if we needed anything. Ordered hot green tea, Coke, fried dumpling, yellow curry (medium spice) and chicken pad Thai (mild spice). It was so delicious. I even was able to customize my order for the curry (no carrots, extra potato) and it was not an issue at all. The Coke came in a can which is great bc particularly around Jax, when it comes from a beverage gun it tastes funny/bad (restaurants probably not cleaning the tubes or syrup running low or pushing more than one button; but I digress). Medium yellow curry had spice to it! The curry is sweet but the spice lingers on the back of the tongue (perfect in my opinion). Pad thai tastes so fresh and had a nice grilled flavor to it. Hands down the only thai place we will go to in Jax from now on. Can't wait to come back and try the Tom Yum soup and see if it compares to that of Thailand.

Dining area. Booths have roofs - quaint.

I had the drunken noodle Thai hot with chicken and to be honest, it was just heat. It wasn't crazy hot but there really wasn't much flavor than the heat. It seemed that whatever sauce concoction they normally make - soy, fish, oyster, and sriracha - was lacking. In comparing this to other drunken noodle I've had around town, unfortunately I have to place it at the bottom for depth of flavor. The restaurant itself is a quaint setup with booths that have little roofs. Staff was friendly and enthusiastic so that environment could make for a pleasant dine-in experience. I've heard good things about their curry so I may have to give them another shot for just that reason. Beyond that, I'll look elsewhere for my noodle entrees.

Sala Thai truly has the greatest Thai food restaurant in the entire city of Jacksonville. How can I review what I know to be the epitome of authentic Thai cuisine? Other than the fact that there is no comparison to it, Sala Thai feels like home. It's almost like reviewing your own mom's homemade food. It's impossible because all you can say is wow, you've done it again! Sooooo delicious! The first time I experienced Sala Thai was in 2008. A decade later and their food has remained consistent throughout the years. Red curry, green curry, roasted duck, fried rice, drunken noodles, and of course the well known pad thai etc.. all of them are made to PERFECTION here. The two different seating arrangements are very creative. You can sit in the cute hut-like sections with the seat cushions or traditional tables. The restaurant itself isn't trendy nor does it scream for attention. One bite of their food and you will be hooked! I come here every month! There's just something spectacular about Sala Thai. Don't hesitate and try it for yourself!

I have tried a lot of Thai restaurants- in Jax & other cities/countries.. I would have to say that this is one of the best. Somehow the flavors of their dishes just hit the spot every time. Always served fresh & quick; almost seems like your dish is coming out within 5 minutes of ordering. And usually that's the case! Be careful on your first bite since it's fresh out the wok hot! The place has a true local feel, with the owner & the wife being the main chefs. Our go-to dish is the phad Thai & red curry, hot! Crispy duck is next in line, especially if you're craving for a vegetable medley. If you're looking for comfort asian food, this is the place to provide that. Don't forget to pair with their Thai tea & finish of with their sticky mango dessert with coconut ice cream!

    Sierra loves the booth huts.

3 1/2 Located in a nondescript plaza, kinda across the street from Sam's Club, I've passed by restaurant countless times. Yesterday we were in the mood for Asian cuisine but didn't necessary want to drive far. We arrived just after 5 pm and they're supposed to open back for dinner at 5 but the "Open" light sign was off, "Closed" sign was visible, and no lights were on. As we sat in our car for a few mins, we saw some lights inside but it was very dim, not enough to show that they were opened so I had hubby check it out and he was able to open the door and motioned us in. I was taken aback a little when I saw the hostess/waitress. She was wearing a black shirt with jeans and unprofessional looking for lack of a better word. We were seated in one of the hut-like booths. It had cushions pads, not the most comfortable booths I've sat in but it was very unique; my youngest daughter loved it. The menus were placed on the table vs handed to us. While we were looking at the menu, we can hear the backroom / kitchen staff talking pretty loudly. The walls had wood panels which reminded hubby of his motherland. Lol The decor had an authentic look but like they could use a facelift. We put in our appetizer order (Sala combo) with the hostess / server. It came out pretty quickly. The shrimps were my favorite, my least favorite were the crab delight wontons because the curry flavor was too pronounced. Another person, older lady came who gave us the app took our order. She was nice / friendly. My theory is maybe she was the hostess' mom and hostess was helping out for the day. Idk. For our mains, we ordered Beef Lad Na, Beef Pad Se-Eww, Chicken Fried Rice, and Crispy Duck. The Lad Na and Pa Se-Eww tasted similar except the Lad Na has a gravy. Flavors were decent but the beef was tough so I would suggest another protein. They used the reg flat rice noodle because this is FL and thick wide noodles seems to be non-existent. The fried rice had good flavor. It was a little greasy but not anymore then what Hawkers Asian Street Fare would serve. The Duck dish was tastey. The duck was extremely crispy which I liked. It sat on a bed of steamed veggie, flavored by some sauce and an additional dipping sauce. We were charged $18.95 for the Duck dish, from memory I thought it was less, I checked their online menu and it was listed at $16.95. Hubby didn't want to make a fuss over a few dollars so I didn't say anything. Food was pretty good, but the interesting service may make us reconsider dining in and just do carryout for future.

She was patient as my wife and I and a few friends reviewed the large menu with her, and followed up throughout our meal. The second was the food We started with sharing an appetizer of garlic soy fried chicken wings and dumplings...very tasty Then I had Tonkotsu Ramen and my wife had tempura udon... both were large servings, with home made noodles and a favorable pork broth with fresh vegetables. Mine had a 3 pieces of a thick cut pork and egg in the broth what was really surprising was when the dessert came... I think it was called mango Bing Soo... It was super crispy, but the meat was still so juicy. And the sweet and creamy sauces just finished the perfect bite. The ramens were pretty solid too. The matcha broth was super creamy and light. And the tonkotsu was so flavorful, with really tender chashu and a perfectly soft boiled egg. Plus the noodles were a really good texture. The restaurant itself is really cute too. They also have a convenience store type of ramen station in the front, which I really want to try. As well as a little arcade game that you can play in the front while you wait to be seated. However, I was really not a fan of the service. It's nothing really against the servers because they were super nice, but they just seemed so frazzled. We arrived around an hour before closing, but it took forever for us to be seated, despite seeing a few empty tables around. By the time we were seated, we were told kitchen would be closing in two minutes, so we had to hurry and put in our orders. All of that was fine and I didn't mind. But what I did mind was that our waitress checked our order twice when we first have it. And she came back to our table within the next five minutes to check our orders again for a third time to make sure she had down what we wanted. I wanted the matcha ramen and was most looking forward to having some chashu and egg. So she confirmed my order three times that I wanted matcha ramen. But when it came out, she gave me the vegetable bowl. I knew the kitchen had closed at that point, so I just ate it, but I was really disappointed. (I did get to try a bite of my friends egg and chashu, which also didn't really help because it was so good and made me wish mine came with those even more.) When we were finished eating, it took forever for the checks to come out. This I also didn't mind that much, because the servers, again, looked really frazzled trying to close up. But at this point we had waited until well after their closing time, so part of me was hoping they could just close us out first and then finish closing down the place. I think we waited at least half an hour from when we first asked for the check (at which point we had already been waiting a while) to when we finally got our cards back. I did see they charged me for the vegetable version of the matcha ramen so it was whatever, but then also I was confused - so it wasn't a mix up in the kitchen, she rang it up as the vegetable one from the beginning! Even though I never mentioned it and she never said vegetable when confirming my order. It was a dollar less to get tofu instead of an egg and chashu which doesn't seem worth it. Writing this all out, I'm sorry to rant, because the food really was good. And looking at other reviews, it looks like the service is usually pretty good. But again, it was just disappointing. That being said, I am really hoping it was a one off thing because I would go again and try some other menu items too.

Okay, let me start off by saying this, Crazy Chopsticks actually has brown fried rice! Most of you…read morewho remember Chinese food from the 80s and 90s don't need me to say anything else because if you know then you know! Now here is a review for everyone else. I called ahead of placing my phone order because my order was a fairly large pickup order. The guy that answered the phone was so so nice (you know who you are... in one of the photos), lol. He wasn't in a hurry to get me off the phone and actually seemed happy that I called with questions. He answered all of my questions and even gave me some menu item suggestions. Here are a few tips, for parties or large families the restaurant offers party tray sizes. Also if you call early for large orders and let restaurant know when (what time) you need to pickup the party order they will try to have your order ready for you. They will also add bean sprouts and egg to you fried rice if you ask (do yourself a favor ASK!). Okay let's talk about the food. Let's just say Crazy Chopsticks had me when I read another post claiming that Crazy Chopsticks served good ole back in the day brown fried rice. If you really want to jump back in a Time Machine request the addition of bean sprouts and eggs to your fried rice order. Ohhhh, it was excellent! See photos! My order included a few types of fried rice chicken, shrimp and house fried rice. Flavor wise they were great especially with the bean sprouts and egg additions. The only thing I noticed was that there were smaller pieces of chicken in the chicken fried rice and not larger sizes of chicken like those in the chicken and broccoli dishes. Also the size of the shrimp are smaller for the rice and Lo-mein compared to the larger shrimp found in the other dishes like shrimp and broccoli for instance. If someone from Crazy Chopsticks reads this review consider adding green onions, bean and egg to you fried rice! Everyone should experience the retro classic fried rice! The Lo-mein was excellent also. The Lo-mein and fried rice both had that kiss of a sizzling iron wok taste. It's a special char taste. It's that special flavor like the difference between a burger cooked on a griddle and a burger that cooked on charcoal grill. They are both great but one really says Summer is here! The egg rolls and dumplings were amazing. The dumplings were perfectly cooked, the filling wasn't dry and it was well seasoned. The sauce had great flavor tangy and slightly sweet at the same time. The egg rolls were nice and crunchy and Crazy Chopsticks carries the duck sauce that has apricots in it! So extra bonus points for that. I'd love a vegetable egg roll option though (one with the wonton wrapper that is) I'm not sure if they offer one though as this also seems to be one of those phantom things from the 90s! Let's talk main dishes. The chicken and broccoli was excellent. The brown sauce is the classic salty/ umami sauce not the sweet brown sauce. The chicken was very tender and the broccoli was fresh and still had the right amount of crunchiness. The same goes for the shrimp and broccoli. The shrimp were large, fresh and clean. The shrimp egg fu yung and the vegetable egg fu yung dishes were perfectly cooked. As you can see in the photos the container had a bit of extra oil but placing the patties on paper towels before plating them helped with that. The shrimps were fresh and clean. The vegetable egg fu yung included carrots, broccoli, onions, mushrooms and I believe zucchini. The dish was chocked full of vegetables. The gravy had good flavor, it wasn't the sweet type of gravy. The gravy was pretty oily on top though. Once I removed the extra oil the gravy was great. The sweet and sour chicken was good also. Not overly battered like some places serve with mostly batter and barely any chicken, you know what I'm talking about. No, these had a great balance just enough batter for a crispy outside and nice juicy tender pieces of chicken on the inside. The sweet and sour sauce was unique not your typical sauce, there was a little something different in it that made it a step above most Chinese takeaways. Give it a try to see what I mean! The sesame chicken was delightful. The sauce on the sesame chicken was really good! The chicken was tender and juicy and the breading was just right not overly breaded or so hard that the chicken sounds like rocks hitting your plate. Anyone that enjoys sesame chicken will like this one. Then there's the garlic Fried Chicken wings. I believe this was their #1 seller for fried chicken. I ordered one order with sauce and one order with sauce on the side. The order with sauce was good, nice and flavorful. The chicken wings that had the sauce on the side were slightly overcooked. It's was probably just a one off situation so I wouldn't allow this to stop you from trying the wings sauce less. Let's not forget the sugar biscuits they had ju

On my way out I grabbed a menu and noticed the lunch price was like $3 cheaper... and I was there during lunch?? So that already threw me off. Now the food... yeah, I was disappointed The honey chicken had that weird thick, super sweet breading -- like the kind they use for sweet and sour chicken. It was giving pancake batter and not in a good way. Definitely not my vibe at all. And the egg roll?? I had high hopes because egg rolls are usually good anywhere... WRONG. The outside was hard and crispy, but the inside was just gooey and off. The ONLY thing that saved this meal was the fried rice. 10/10, no notes. Service was good. Overall, I had high hopes but this just wasn't it.
