He mentioned wait times for tables, so I chose a Tuesday evening to try to avoid the crowds and it worked as I was immediately sat upon arriving. There are QR Menus on the table and my server directed me to view there. I spotted the Tokyo and was intrigued by the Ajitama Brûlée (signature torched seasoned soft boiled egg). What I Ordered: - Tokyo: For $16.95, I thought this was reasonably priced and excited to try as reading reviews raved about the umami flavor of their ramen. Without exaggeration, this was a life-changing ramen. The best ramen that I've had in my life!! The torched egg was genius and added a beautiful texture to the rich, and flavorful broth. The fried chicken thigh was a delicious protein and cooked so well. Honestly, every ingredient was crafted well and combined to make such a beautiful bowl. - Lychee Martini: What better way to toast to life, then with a martini! The popping bubbles were not my thing, but the flavor of the martini was delicious. I can see why many suggest trying it. During our visit, a manager engaged in repeated personal interactions with my guest that felt outside the bounds of typical professional service. While I understand that friendliness is part of hospitality, the frequency and tone of these interactions became uncomfortable and detracted from the overall experience. After the visit, I brought this to the attention of the business directly in the hope that it would be acknowledged and addressed. Unfortunately, I did not receive a meaningful response or any indication that the concern was taken seriously. I'm sharing this here so others have a complete picture when deciding where to go, and so the business has another opportunity to reflect on how customer interactions are handled. There's a few updated items in the menu, one of them being the Asian Fries!!!! I got the Thai curry crispy fries and it was sooo good. Stopped in for a small, quick dinner. I ordered the Richie Rich ramen and added a fried chicken thigh. The noodles are thin, cooked perfectly to have a very nice texture. The broth was very flavorful. The fried garlic and garlic oil makes it even more delicious. I've never had an ajitama brulee before - this a marinated egg with a brulee topping (sugar torched on top). I thought it would be a bit strange bit it worked quite well. The fried chicken thigh is just a regular boneless, skinless chicken thigh. I dont know why I was expecting it to be battered like KFC or even like karage popcorn chicken. The pork chashu is AMAZING!!! So soft, meaty and tender. I would probably add an extra order of that instead of the chicken next time. Definitely worth visiting and returning for more. read more

I took my niece to Domu as part of our ladies night gathering. We arrived just as they opened, so we were lucky to be seated immediately. The restaurant filled pretty quickly after opening. I enjoyed a lychee martini and the Vegan ramen dish with the spicy miso base. I added Thai chili for an additional spice. It was quite flavorful and tasty. We also shared the Domu Wings to start. The wings were great! They are breaded and tossed in a kimchi butter sauce, topped with sesame seeds. Service was pretty quick. Our server was pretty good. Had heard so much about this place, I just had to try it. Came in and ordered the spicy tonkatsu ramen. Not much to it, really. Wasn't crazy about the noodles. Egg was good. Fat on the little bit of chashu was great. Broth WAS spicy. Overall, the dish was just kind of meh and fell flat, though. Supposed to be one of the best ramens in Jacksonville. Had this on my bookmark list. Came in at about 12:30pm on a Sunday it was busy but not overly busy. We sat down and waited for over 40min for our table of 6. People would come in and be seated before us. I was sort of annoyed. No check-in on our time until eye contact was made with the hostess and she said you'll be next in 5 or 10 minutes. Once seated we were left at the table for about 10 minutes then ice cold water was brought out and our order taken. Food took another 40min. Inside was freezing, music was LA club like, not my jam coming with my kids. Service was blah. No table service honestly it was like at that point it should have been self serve pay. $16.95 for a ramen was steep considering the bowls were small and broth was sparce, there were more noodles than broth. I liked the ambience and look of the inside of the restaurant. It was modern and contemporary with nice touches of greenery. The service was pretty slow when we went around 5:30 on a Monday. But the server was friendly and apologetic about it. I had the Tonkatsu Ramen with chashu, scallions and torched egg. It was good. I've had better in JAX. The portions are on the smaller side so I did finish it. I enjoyed it. I will probably not get the egg the torched style because it was too sweet for my liking. They offer bar seating but forget to mention that the bartenders will ignore you and you'll need to get their attention to get ANYTHING. Water... had to ask. Silverware... had to ask. Also the seating in the back is really close to the restroom so we kept hearing the doors opening / closing and you can smell the air fresher from the restroom at your seats. Took about 45 mins for all the food to come out, the food is great. We ordered wings and vegan ramen with spicy miso base. Wings are really crunchy, they feel like they were fried twice, we don't like too much breading on the wings so these were not our favorite. Vegan ramen is really flavorful and the spicy miso base goes so good with everything! The noodles are well cooked and the broth is flavorful but not overly salted like most of the ramen places. I have always heard good things about DOMU and it lived up to the hype! There was basically no wait for a table for two, and the food came out fairly quickly once we ordered. I'm not a big fan of brothy noodles, so I ordered the New Japan Mazemen and ended up eating the whole thing! The portion size was a little small for the price, but the quality was amazing. It had a nice creamy sauce and tons of flavor, as well as mushrooms and pork throughout. The noodles were a great texture as well. We also got black sesame ice cream and it was super creamy. I loved that it was both savory and sweet, very well balanced flavor. The ambiance is nice, smaller than I expected but has a nice feel to it. read more

I love Domu in Orlando, so I had to visit there in Jacksonville for my vacation. I took my hotel shuttle to get there, and I arrived around 7ish on a Friday. I didn't have a reservation, but was able to sit in the bar immediately. They had an old fashioned at the bar, which was strong and a bargain for only 10 dollars. I wished they had the Domu don, but it was only in Orlando. So I tried the fried chicken wing bowl (15 dollars) instead. The chicken was boneless and more popcorn chicken. It was very sweet and a bit too crispy for me, but still flavorful. There was cabbage for vegetable, and a soft boiled egg. They were more enjoyable. The rice was fine, but I did ask for chili oil to add some heat. Because the sauce was sweet, it almost felt like dessert. And of course, for dessert, I can't say no to ice cream. The flavor was Vietnamese coffee, which was pretty strong in flavor. For 5 dollars, it was a great price. The service was fast and friendly. Eating at the bar, you can converse with other patrons and the bartenders. The dining area is ample as well. The atmosphere looks a bit more casual than the Dr Phillips branch, but still nice. I am glad I tried the Domu in Jacksonville. While it isn't as upscale as the one in Dr Phillips, it is still nice. I will definitely eat here again when I visit Jacksonville. Overall: A- read more

A definitive 5/5 for Domu - a terrific ramen spot! I am a big fan of the open kitchen concept that allows you to see the dishes being made and how the kitchen operates with exceeding efficiency. The overall atmosphere is not going to blow your socks away, but the contemporary vibe is clean and well-maintained. Our waiter was a joy and was a big help in assisting my table select our ramen orders. Our appetizers were the Domu wings and the Cheezus. The Cheezus was okay, but I only had a bite simply to try at the fervent insistence of my fellow diners. I don't like melty cheese so I'm probably more biased against dishes like the Cheezus. If you want melty cheese and bread with a super cheese pull, you'll likely be happy with this. The Domu wings are among the best wings I've ever had (albeit a different flavor profile from my favorite buffalo wings, so may not be a like-for-like comparison). They were crispy, bordering crunchy, with a fantastic kimchi butter glaze that was almost candied to the outer crust that made the wings all the more crispy with a perfect flavor balance. This is a must order if the wings accommodate your diet. Our expectations of the ramen heightened. It is safe to say the ramen exceeded those expectations. I ordered the Tokyo and it is a top 2 ramen without question. The broth was the tastiest I've had. My only gripe is that I wish there was more of it. I added fried garlic and green onion which greatly complemented the kikurage, menma, chicken and egg. The chicken - fried boneless and skinless chicken thigh - tasted good. That being said, for me that was the only ingredient that I felt could use some mild improvement. My chicken thigh was a tad dry. Outside of this, I ate a near-perfect ramen. The Tonkostu ramen was ordered by another diner and they thought it was very good, as well. Closing off our dinner was an order of the special black sesame-flavored ice cream. It was very smooth and tasted interesting, but in a good way. I probably wouldn't get a flavor like that again, but I think it's worth trying if it is comes back to the menu (their special flavor changes every week or every other week from what I remember). If you are big on ramen, I recommend giving Domu a try. Personally, it was some of the best ramen and wings I have had. Will definitely make an effort to visit again if I am back in the Jacksonville area. read more

I came here with my mom to celebrate my birthday and introduce her to the world of Ramen. I loved the cool modern ambience and the bathroom tiles were cool. This was my first time trying the patty. I love soft shell crab. It was delicious. Wings don't miss. I also enjoyed a gimlet, ultra violet and whiskey sour before heading home. A gimlet is a classic drink. The ultra violet was fantastic. I don't like overly sweet drinks. This drink is a little sweet but perfectly balanced. This restaurant is a in great location- within the town center, however I've had much better ramen. I felt the oil overpowered everything and the portion size was small for the price. Without tip- it was a total of $20 for a Diet Coke+ yozu chicken ramen. Service was great from beginning the end. My server was friendly and prompt. It's a cute restaurant. Probably the best ramen I've had in the Jacksonville area. While living in Jax I DoorDashed DOMU several times and it was always hot, fresh, and tasty. Recently I visited the restaurant with a co-worker and we sat at the bar. The bartenders were super friendly and helpful in helping us decide what we wanted. We both went with the Richie Rich a flavorful dish of miso-shoyu pork bone broth with chashu, ajitama brulee, kikurage, scallions, fried garlic, black garlic oil, and domudama. For a little extra I had an egg added. It was so tasty that I could have just drank the broth and been happy.
