I've had Domu and their ramen in Orlando, so I wanted to try some other items this time around. So I tried their Cheese Corn and Chicken Rice Bowl. Both portion sizes were pretty significant. The egg in the rice bowl was just the way I liked it, with a jammy center while being well seasoned. The cheese corn comes with a side of bread and it was a solid appetizer. The corn had nice pops of sweetness while the cheese was not overpowering. Service was quick and efficient and the ambiance of the restaurant was nice and classy. I rarely go out to Asian restaurants these days because I never find one that is worth the prices, but I'm so glad I tried Domu out! The Richie Rich was delicious. I asked for some chili oil on the side so that I could make it spicier and it was great. It could use some chili flakes with the oil, but I understand not everyone likes a kick of spice in their food. The lychee martini was okay... kind of watered down if I'm being honest. I've had better, but it's definitely not near the worst I've had! I'd probably order it again. Finally, the ice cream. Our waiter brought out a sample of ice cream for us to try and it was a great tactic because then my friend and I ordered some for dessert. It has been years since I've been here. A combination of not wanting to deal with the Town center chaos and the mediocrity of the ramen. Yes, perhaps I am a ramen snob, I really do try not to judge too harshly now that we're back in the states. If you know, you know. I will say it was pretty good this visit. The broth was flavorful and the noodles, I suspect, our housemade. Soft shell crab was delightful and I recommend getting the spicy wings. The low point for me was the service. No reservations, when we walked in people were just standing around in front of the podium and I ended up standing behind people who were already on the list. This resulted in people that came after me getting there first and were seated right away, while we had to wait for almost an hour. We watched patrons clear their own tables in the bar area, since staff was nowhere to be found. When we finally got seated, the tables are so close together I felt like we were dining with the people next to us. Took another 45minutes!! before someone came to get a drink order. Why didn't we walk out? We already invested all that time and, well, I was hungry. I liked the food, but I'm not sure if that's enough to balance out the lack of service. I was hoping my first experience would be a great one. I was sadly disappointed. I came here for appetizers and drinks with a friend. We were quickly seated and ordered an appetizer of wings. While waiting for our wings, we ordered drinks. Our first drink was the vampire's blood shot. I didn't particularly care for it. It was a seasonal drink, hopefully next season it'll grow on me. Our wings came and I was was pleasantly surprised by the flavor. I will say, they are not meant for reheating -- kimchi flavor comes all the way out. I ordered a lychee martini which I LOVED! I may be a bit bias because I love lychee in general. You may be asking yourself why only two stars? The service was less than acceptable. Once we were seated we did not get water. We looked around at other tables and they all had water carafes on them. We had to ask our server for water, which he poured some in our glasses and walked away without leaving the carafe. This place wasn't bad. To be honest I like their Orlando location better. Let's start with the ramen. The noodles are home made and honestly my favorite part of the soup. The broth was fine but it was missing the deep rich ramen flavor. It just seemed under seasoned and I've definitely had better. The chashu was mostly fat and was dry. It was very disappointing and I left most of it behind. The pigs in a blanket was flavorful but not what I expected. Labeling it as "Asian Buns" on the menu makes me expect a boa bun and I would have preferred that. The roll was dry and overpowered the chashu. However the filling was great! This chashu was moist and cooked perfectly unlike the one in our ramen. The wings! GO FOR THEM! These are so good. Crispy crunch on the outside with moist flavorful chicken on the inside. If you haven't had them yet, you are missing out. The sauce on them is perfect too. I may dry rub wing person mostly because a lot of places oversaw their wings. But not domu they coat their wings perfectly and the sauce is the perfect blend of sweet and savory with a little bit of spice. Ooohh Domu. Is this the best ramen I've had in Jax? No. Do I keep coming back? Absolutely! Domu is quirky and cute, and pleasantly good and consistent. The ambiance here is fun and chic. Service is always good. They have traditional ramen offerings and a few more contemporary creations. The ramen is tasty enough. I prefer the Curry ramen and the Tokyo. One of their main apps is their fried wings which are delicious - they come in their standard Korean style sauce or a seasonal flavor which rotates every few months or so. Their house sauce is delicious but I've also had several of the seasonal flavors and they have been great, too! Domu also has a pretty decent happy hour. They offer quite the cocktail menu and some great selections on alcohol, beer, wine, and sake. All in all, if you're looking for a 100% authentic ramen spot, this may not be your best choice. Finally made it to Domu after years of trying and really happened on a whim. We arrived around 8:30PM on a Thursday and there was at a 30-45 minute wait for a table. Clearly this place is good for a wait that long at that day and time. Lucky there was room at the bar so we sat there. Our bartender was very friendly and let us take our time ordering. Having wanting to come here for years I knew immediately what I wanted. Started with appetizers and had to go for the Domu Wings and the Cheezus. For my Ramen I went with the Curry medium heat and added Pork Belly for $3.5. It does come with Fried Chicken Thigh which I had never had in ramen but my good to is Pork Belly and Domu's has always looked good. I mean, why not both right? Our appetizers came out pretty quickly and hot damn those wings are amazing. top 3 wings I have ever had for sure and could be pushing for 2 easily. I thought nothing could have blow my mind like the wings did but Cheezus Christ I was wrong. The Cheezus was the most amazing and different thing I have ever had. I never would have thought this combo of corn, mayo, and mozzarella could be this good. Both of these are an every time you come here you have to get it kinda deal. I will say our ramen came out pretty quickly after our appetizers so we had our hands full for a bit. The Curry ramen was good and had good spice. We've been going there since 2023 once every few weeks. The service is great. Like everything else the prices keep going up. This updated review is solely on the food itself. Our Server was amazing and checked up on us and refilled our waters as needed. Outstanding service! I had the pork chashu bowl and was disappointed. The last time I had it, there were actual chashu pieces in it but when I had it this time around, it was literally pulled, shredded pork. The cucumbers were fresh and crunchy and the egg was cooked perfectly, but a bit too much sauce. The bowl was just a mess and too overwhelming on the flavors. I was very displeased with my bowl and didn't even eat half of it. The ramen's broth is also different now. My husband and SIL's boyfriend both got the Tokyo ramen and they used to add pieces of duck fat in the broth to make it richer and creamier, but you can tell that they omitted that. Still tasty but not consistent. My SIL had the Ritchie Rich ramen and all she could taste was ginger in the broth. It was too overpowering and my husband and her boyfriend had to finish it for her. Wings are still great! Get them with the kimchi butter! They're double fried to perfection and crunchy! The kimchi butter was divine. Their ice cream is still just as delicious! They have rotating flavors and we had earl grey ice cream with lemon crumbles this time. The ice cream had a strong tea flavor which paired so well with the refreshing taste of citrus from the lemon crumbles. I would go just for the ice cream here! Soooo delicious! We enjoyed our brunch here immensely. My chashu pork bowl was plentiful and full of amazing flavors. All aspects of the dish were cooked to perfection. My husband's chicken sandwich was out of this world. The kimchi butter sauce it's coated in had a wonderfully sweet initial bite that ended with the slightest heat. I absolutely love coming here. The service is always good and no matter who I bring they enjoy the atmosphere and food. I was met by a host who didn't seem polite at first. But the moment I spoke and joked a little because I do struggle to hear at times. He lightened up and honestly was super friendly and helpful. He let me know it would only be about 5 minutes for him to get a table ready and he took my name. Didn't take long and we were taken to our table. Our server was also super chill but great positive energy and was patience while we decided what we wanted. After ordering the food came out very fast and definitely was not cold.
