Kinya Ramen & Yakitori - St. Johns, FL Address: 495 Durbin Pavilion Dr #103, St. Johns, FL 32259 Hours (typical):* Sunday-Thursday: 11:00 AM - 9:30 PM* Friday-Saturday: 11:00 AM - 10:00 PM Date of Visit: 01/03/26 My husband, daughter, and I decided to try Kinya Ramen & Yakitori for the first time, and the food was absolutely AMAZING. All three of us agreed it was worth every penny. The flavors were incredible, and the quality of the food truly stood out. That said, I do have a couple of complaints. First, the dumplings felt like false advertising. The picture on the table gave no indication that they would be so itsy-bitsy. At $5.95 for only three very small dumplings, they felt overpriced and should definitely be reevaluated. The biggest issue, unfortunately, was the service. It was really poor, and the timing of the dishes was completely all over the place. Our server never came back to ask if we needed refills. He took my order and my daughter's order, but my husband was still deciding because what he originally wanted was unavailable. The server said he would come back in a minute, but never did. We actually started receiving our food before he returned to ask if my husband was still planning to order. This made the experience frustrating, especially when dining with more than one person. The bad service and disorganized timing of bringing out the food took away from what could have been an excellent experience. Overall:The food was outstanding, but the service and pacing need serious improvement. If those issues were fixed, this restaurant would be fantastic.

The food here is great. The special to get a Raman and an appetizer is great. Their selection is a little limited, and they can take things out of the ramans but not substitute items, which feels like a money grab. If you're craving a delicious Raman and you're not too picky of an eater, this place is great. The service is good and the vibe is funky.

I never had ramen before and this place did not miss! It was a nice and intimate setting! The food was even more gratifying. I was inspired to make my own ramen dish at home!! Service was ok, it got a little busy and was inattentive for a bit but overall not too bad. I love ramen and am glad I took a chance on this spot, definitely will be back for more!!

Wings

Recently tried this new spot In Durbin and I will say they did not disappoint. We had the wings which were crispy and full of flavor, and the poke bowl which was filled with so much flavor and packed with so much protein as well. I am still craving them. Nelson our waiter made sure to provide great service and made great recommendations. I can't wait to go back.

I had their Gainesville location and was impressed. Decided to skip out on my favorite ramen spot and give Kinya in Jax a try. We ordered the Kinya Ramen... The thickness of the pork broth with the black garlic oil accompanied by the marinated egg, the seared pork, bamboo and green onions was amazing! We also had their pork buns which have cucumbers in it, so different but delicious, makes the buns feel more light and fresh. The servers were super tentative and kept an eye on the table the whole time. The restaurant was nice and clean and had a pretty chill vibe. I wish it wasn't so posh or upscale, I was expecting it to have a bunch of anime and manga themed stuff... that would have been cool

Spicy ramen

Great ramen place. Being in Florida, we don't often feel the need to get a hot ramen dish. But when we do, we typically head to Kinya. Quick seating. Staff is effiicent at taking our orders and food prep doesn't take long. Been here multiple times and have never had a bad experience. They also have a nice special where you can add an appetizer to any order for a small upgrade cost.

Eat here. Food is delicious. Menu is great. I got a sushi taco just to try it, wow it was a great idea. Bao buns (I know it's basic but they are so tasty) are great. Service was quick. Love this place.

This is my go to spot when I'm going to watch a movie. Especially if I'm on a time crunch. I had the seafood pancake and a spicy Ramen. Since they've opened the menu has grew and I enjoy the taste and options. The speed is also always fast. I love the music that's normally played which is usually a mash-up that is usually a cover of a popular song that sounds classy.

Poké bowl
Trey C.

Just wasted my money on this Poké bowl. This place used to be good when it first opened, now the quality's completely gone down the drain. They thinks it's funny because I cut out majority of the ingredients in the actual bowl but that's only because the quality's so bad. I made the mistake of ordering pick-up from here again despite my better judgement and quickly remembered why I hadn't eaten here in so long. The sea weed is atrociously bad it tastes like something out of a sewer. The fish quality is probably comparable to a fast food restaurant like McDonalds, the only thing that was slightly tolerable to eat was the rice, onion flakes and avocado. I had to dump all the fish and sea weed out and ended up adding some old beef I had left over in my fridge to the bowl for some protein. WILL NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN!

It was sooooo good! Our waiter, Luis, was knowledgeable and attentive. Plus the seats were comfy in the weirdest way. It definitely felt like they were interested in our experience! We started with the buns...so delicious. Fresh, well made, soft on the outside, flavorful on the inside with a bit of crunch from the veggies inside. Very well done! I got Tonkatsu and he got the Tonton. Both were steaming hot, lots of savory broth, the noodles, meat and veggies were plentiful and tasty. We also got the red bean dessert, I don't remember what it was called, but it wasn't my favorite, he loved it! Highly recommend!

Shrimp Tempura and Soup Dumplings

The food is amazing and is one of my favorite restaurants in St Johns. The service is quick and everyone there is friendly.

Finally had an off day and I was craving some Ramen, but didn't want to go across town to one of my preferred spots. So I gave the place Kinya Ramen a try and oh boy was I blown away. Not only was the food Grade A, two thumbs up but the service I received from the waitress was absolutely. amazing she recommended me the house choice and let's just say I'll be back multiple times for those pork buns and Gold Flakes... Thanks again ma'am for your help with choosing which bowl to pick....

The Kinya pork ramen was tough meat and the broth had no flavor. I was so looking forward to a good ramen.

Karai Ramen Bistro is a full on experience and one of the best restaurants!…read more The restaurant is dark, intimate, and tucked away in a way that makes you feel like you've discovered a hidden gem. The vibe is fantastic and the staff matches it perfectly, friendly, warm, and attentive. We went twice in the late afternoon and never waited for a table, which is a huge bonus for a spot this good. The small plates alone are worth the visit. The Katsu Sando Sliders feature crispy chicken katsu on soft potato bread with fresh cabbage, katsu sauce, Japanese mayo, red onion, and sweet pickle peppers, every element working in perfect harmony. The Potato Korokke was equally incredible, perfectly crispy on the outside and filled with katsu fried potato and vegetables paired with katsu sauce and Japanese mayo. The Gyoza were perfectly crispy Japanese fried chicken dumplings, and the Harumaki was a great addition too. Everything fried here is done with real skill, the crunch is always there and never overdone. If you love spice, the KakuKara Ramen is an absolute must. A rich, creamy sesame broth made from chicken and pork stock with Japanese hot sauce and red miso, it is spicy, deeply flavorful, and completely addictive. Loaded with pork belly kakuni, homemade pickled peppers, cabbage, cilantro, green onions, and sesame seeds on those perfect curly noodles, it is everything you hope ramen will be. If you prefer something milder, the Katsu Shio Ramen is a beautiful classic, a delicate Japanese sea salt and dashi seasoned chicken broth with shiitake mushrooms, katsu chicken, red and green onions, and the most wonderful onsen tamago custard egg that takes the whole bowl to another level!

The ramen is masterfully concocted by a genius, it's absolutely perfect! Everything we've tried is delicious from the katsu curry to fried octopus, it's all fantastic. I ordered the Akai katsu ramen and modified it by adding the suggested pork belly and spicy beef and was blown away at the balance of spice and flavor and I honestly have no idea what they do to the jammy egg in the ramen but it's crazy creamy and flavorful, like no egg I've ever eaten, the dish is magical. I ordered online and it was all packaged so nice and secure, fyi togo is 2 doors down. It's seriously the only restaurant I want to go anymore it's so amazing! And they're so nice and happy when I go and it's a neat little vibe. I highly recommend this amazing restaurant

She was patient as my wife and I and a few friends reviewed the large menu with her, and followed up throughout our meal. The second was the food We started with sharing an appetizer of garlic soy fried chicken wings and dumplings...very tasty Then I had Tonkotsu Ramen and my wife had tempura udon... both were large servings, with home made noodles and a favorable pork broth with fresh vegetables. Mine had a 3 pieces of a thick cut pork and egg in the broth what was really surprising was when the dessert came... I think it was called mango Bing Soo... What it is, is a huge bowl of shaved ice with Mango and cream. It was delicious... and perfect for after the main dish we ordered... and I would go there just to get that dessert alone.... I don't normally take my time to recommend a place but I recommend this one as a find .. highly

It was super crispy, but the meat was still so juicy. And the sweet and creamy sauces just finished the perfect bite. The ramens were pretty solid too. The matcha broth was super creamy and light. And the tonkotsu was so flavorful, with really tender chashu and a perfectly soft boiled egg. Plus the noodles were a really good texture. The restaurant itself is really cute too. They also have a convenience store type of ramen station in the front, which I really want to try. As well as a little arcade game that you can play in the front while you wait to be seated. However, I was really not a fan of the service. It's nothing really against the servers because they were super nice, but they just seemed so frazzled. We arrived around an hour before closing, but it took forever for us to be seated, despite seeing a few empty tables around. By the time we were seated, we were told kitchen would be closing in two minutes, so we had to hurry and put in our orders. All of that was fine and I didn't mind. But what I did mind was that our waitress checked our order twice when we first have it. And she came back to our table within the next five minutes to check our orders again for a third time to make sure she had down what we wanted. I wanted the matcha ramen and was most looking forward to having some chashu and egg. So she confirmed my order three times that I wanted matcha ramen. But when it came out, she gave me the vegetable bowl. I knew the kitchen had closed at that point, so I just ate it, but I was really disappointed. (I did get to try a bite of my friends egg and chashu, which also didn't really help because it was so good and made me wish mine came with those even more.) When we were finished eating, it took forever for the checks to come out. This I also didn't mind that much, because the servers, again, looked really frazzled trying to close up. But at this point we had waited until well after their closing time, so part of me was hoping they could just close us out first and then finish closing down the place. I think we waited at least half an hour from when we first asked for the check (at which point we had already been waiting a while) to when we finally got our cards back. I did see they charged me for the vegetable version of the matcha ramen so it was whatever, but then also I was confused - so it wasn't a mix up in the kitchen, she rang it up as the vegetable one from the beginning! Even though I never mentioned it and she never said vegetable when confirming my order. It was a dollar less to get tofu instead of an egg and chashu which doesn't seem worth it. Writing this all out, I'm sorry to rant, because the food really was good. And looking at other reviews, it looks like the service is usually pretty good. But again, it was just disappointing. That being said, I am really hoping it was a one off thing because I would go again and try some other menu items too.
