The service was warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly from the moment we walked in the kind of place that makes you want to stay awhile. The food was excellent across the board. If you're ordering for the table, don't skip the chicken skewers tender, flavorful, and a great starter. We also tried the Thai fried rice, pad kra pow, and drunken noodles, and everything came out fresh, hot, and packed with authentic flavor. One thing I loved (and don't see everywhere): they have a full assortment of sauces right at the table. If you're someone who always wants a little extra heat, sweetness, or tang this setup is a game changer. Pro tip: get the Thai iced tea. Sweet, creamy, and the perfect balance to the spice. The space is casual but lively, and there's even a cute little retail area where you can browse Thai snacks, sauces, and other goodies to take home. One of the most authentic Thai spots in Jacksonville--and easily one of my favorites. This is the kind of place you genuinely crave. The Thai Esan Papaya Salad, Pad Thai, Kaprao... everything hits. I honestly feel like this place is under-hyped and deserves way more love because the food is THAT good. It's one of those restaurants you hope stays open forever. Stopped in for lunch and was greeted and sat right away. The restaurant is nicely decorated. I decided to try something different and went with the pad kee mao. I'm glad I did because it was really good. The server recommended that I may like to add chili vinegar and she was right. It really brightened up the already tasty dish. I also got the roti massaman. I wish I could have that every day! Service was very friendly and helpful. Parking is not always great because it's in 5 Points but I lucked out with a spot directly across the street. I ordered chicken pad Thai to go. It was very good. The portion was generous compared to other Thai restaurants in the area. But it was spicier than I expected. The spice level is from level 1 to 3. I picked level 2 and I felt my mouth was on fire. So something to consider, order 1 level below what you normally would at other Thai places. read more

I think that customers will appreciate the abundance of photos on the menu! To stay true to my snack goals, I ordered the roti and bok choy. Why was this the best execution on an often slept-on leafy green? The perfect crisping of the leaf edges complemented the juicy base. The garlic was necessary and not overpowering, as was the seemingly soy based sauce that was delicately drizzled on top. This "snack," paired with a glass of their house cabernet actually ended up being the perfect meal! What a gem in 5 points! Went for lunch during the week and easily found parking, surprisingly. The restaurant was so cute inside and not crowded at all - perfect for a work lunch. The lunch specials were great too - $15 for an entre which includes a drink and soup or spring rolls. I will say to pay attention to spice level - as an authentic thai restaurant, I probably needed a 0 spice level. The tom yum soup was so delicious but I couldn't eat more than a few bites. I'd been meaning to try this restaurant for a while, and the Vegan Chef Challenge finally gave me the perfect excuse. I stopped by on a Friday for lunch and was able to take advantage of their $15 lunch special, which includes an entrée, a drink, and your choice of soup or spring rolls. Hello yelpers, this is my second time at Senyai. I was pleased overall. The food was fresh and delicious, as it was my first visit. The service was impeccable and friendly, and the ambience is quaint. I'll share two pictures. The first one is of the Laab appetizer that I had, which was delicious. The second is the stir-fry, which I asked to be Thai hot, and I think it was slightly burnt in the wok, but not inedible, I've had better (and definitely had worse), so I'm not using it as a negative review, but I'll give it a third try to see how they do once more. Decent Thai food is difficult to find in Jacksonville. I prefer the Larb appetizer at Senyai to other local places. This place is definitely worth a visit. Enjoy. read more

Holy MOLY! This was the best tai food I have ever had!!! We started with the fried bokchoy, and let me tell you the sauce on this dish was so delicious I wanted to lick the plate! We also ordered the spring rolls and they actually tasted fresh vs the packaged/frozen ones most restaurants serve. Me and my boyfriend both ordered the Pad Woonsen which was loaded with perfectly cooked vegetables. I ordered the tofu and my boyfriend ordered the shrimp. The tofu was perfectly fried (&not soggy it stayed nice and firm) and the shrimp was huge! He said it was PERFECTLY cooked. Mae was our server and she was just the sweetest. I wish I took photos but promise I will next time! The food was excellent. I'm SUPER PICKY with my Thai food, I spent several months in Thailand and have outstanding Thai in Philadelphia where I also live. I thought the restaurant was cute, nothing special and it seemed like maybe they were redoing their bar or something. I got takeout at the bar, was greeted by friendly staff with a smile. I think it's a wine/beer only place but I didn't order drinks. There was a little Thai woman on one side of the restaurant preparing food, it felt very authentic! I ordered the Thai green curry with chicken level 2, had a perfect amount of spice for me (I like spicy) and the curry was velvety smooth. I love eggplant in my curry too so that was great. We also tried the drunken noodles- also excellent and the Thai curry puffs. My only complaint was I wish there were more curry puffs! I find Thai in Florida a little expensive in general but overall this is definitely worth it for the value. I will be visiting regularly. read more

In the area and I always crave Asian food. We had the pad seew, I can appreciate it included Chinese broccoli and it was full of flavor. The larb pork was good and I like the mint in it. I did not like the giant pieces of kaffir lime leaf and galanga. I would have preferred it chopped finely in mix. For a level 3 spice level, I would expect some heat. The fried rice was perfect. The bok choy was amazing. Don't change a thing! The gui thiaw nam tok broth was perfect. Full of savory richness and flavor. I wish I could have had it spicier. The last thing we had was Roti and it was perfectly buttery and delicious. My final recommendation would be to not offer chilis and charge for them. Several dishes have the option for spice levels and I didn't appreciate it showing up on the bill as an extra charge. It was $3.50 for spicy chili oil and it was not spicy, $2.50 for chili flakes, and $3.50 for fish sauce with fresh chili. Senyai did provided excellent service and our meal was prepared pretty quickly. I would maybe come back. read more

So happy to see that the new owners of the previous Aroi Thai are doing well and still in business! I had the pleasure of trying Senyai when they first opened a year ago and have come back countless times. Senyai is my favorite Thai restaurant by far. The flavors are spot on, the spice levels are perfect for those who can handle it, and the service is always great. They have a spice scale of 1-3 which can definitely be daunting. We usually go with spice level 3 for the rice dishes and 2 for everything else, which is plenty spicy. I wish they did a 1-5 spice scale so that it's more clear for the customer. I can imagine someone getting a 2 and not being able to handle the heat. Som Tum and Pad Sie ew are a must every time we eat here. Basil fried rice was also great. I want to start off my review by saying that I feel so silly for not realizing that Senyai was here until now. I legit thought they were a new restaurant. I've worked in this area of town for a good two years and have frequented 5 Points for over 20. I'm going to blame it on running between multiple jobs while simultaneously working on my Master's degree. In any case, I saw a friend post about them on Instagram last week and when some other friends were looking for a place to grab lunch, I suggested Senyai since we all love us some Thai food. That and because I've been trying to find a nearby place to grab some Tom Yum Soup since Hawkers rudely took theirs off the menu. Both of my friends and I loved our visit here. We got three apps - Pork Gyoza, Spring Rolls, and Baby Bok Choy. I could eat the Baby Bok Choy for daysssssss. So tasty. I probably went a little overboard by ordering both Tom Yum Soup and Thai Basil Rice with Chicken, but for me, having the rice dish always helps balance the spicyness of the soup. I wish they cooked their protein in with it, but I understand wanting to give choices on the menu. We were so full that we did not have room for dessert, so that will have to happen on a future visit as I know we'll be back. read more

Senyai delivers as promised: authentic Thai food in a friendly and casual setting. The food is very good, and those who appreciate authentic Thai cuisine will enjoy its complex flavors. The hostess was extremely friendly, and was happy to accommodate any special request. I am a big fan of Laab, and she was happy to provide a larger portion as a main rather than a starter size. I had it with pork and was very happy. The ground pork was nicely blended with what I assume to be broken rice, and was in a delicious multilayered sauce comprised of lime juice, lemongrass, and many other fresh herbs and chilis. It was bright, complex, and pleasantly spicy. My wife ordered pork in a masaman curry, which was also complex with so many incredible flavors. We come here pretty often and most of the staff recognize us. This particular time we came and ordered to go. They were out of duck for the noodle soup so we asked to sub it for chicken instead. Or to just prepare the soup without meat at all and make the adjustment to the price. The door hostess, Namthip, refused. The door hostess insisted we sub with beef or pork. If I can substitute for beef or pork, I should be able to also substitute for chicken which is cheaper than both items she tried to force us into. If I cannot substitute anything, then I should be able to request no meat at all. She refused. The door hostess also kept us waiting multiple times to go and assist other white patrons coming and going in and out of the door as well as those that were dining in. We waited longer for her to place our order as requested than it took for the cook to prepare the food. She apparently didn't value us as customers or respect my requests as a woman. When my husband pressed the issue regarding the chicken instead of any other meat substitute, she THEN went and asked and received the ok to do so. She was telling us no to something that in fact, should have been accommodated. She was rude, impatient, confrontational, not personable at all, and unwilling to even attempt to assist us with requested accommodations. She appears to profile her customers as they come in and serve them according to her bigotry. read more

I came here for lunch the other day with a friend. The sign in the front will not say Senyai. We both took a minute to try and find the restaurant until we walked up to the door and saw the name. The restaurant was pretty empty when we first arrived. My friend and I chose something from the lunch specials. I grabbed a Thai fried rice and was disappointed in the lack of flavor and portion. The soup they served was bland. There was a mix of carrots and other vegetables in it. The wait was not too long. The portion was quite small. Our waitress was friendly and very attentive, but she was the only one running the front. My friend ordered the Kang Massaman and also received a small portion of the curry and rice. It was quite flavorful, though, compared to my fried rice. read more

As a Pad Thai enthusiast, I was excited for my meal but this Pad Thai had an odd oil consistency and the flavor was completely off; I couldn't even finish it. The Massaman curry appetizer was priced at $10 but came with only one small piece of naan and a minimal amount of curry. My husband had the Thai fried rice as this is normally one of his favorite dishes. It was the better of the three dishes we ordered but lacked in flavor and quality. Overall, the prices were very high and the food quality was subpar. Based on our experience, we won't be ordering from here again and sadly, I can't recommend it. read more
