I've ordered take out from here twice. The first time, I clicked add cheese for $1- and they didn't add any to my roll. The second time I did the same thing, but then typed add cheese as well so they hopefully wouldn't forget.. well they put cream cheese in the roll and shredded cheddar cheese on top of the roll? I've never had sushi with anything but cream cheese.. it was quite gross. They also didn't put the crab salad that was supposed to be on top of the roll in lieu of the shredded cheese. My son asked me out for sushi today- I haven't had sushi since March! OMG~ that is too long! And I hadn't explored my sushi options in the area yet since moving. The caveat- someplace that also had food for John. He doesn't do sushi. Tokyo Asian Kitchen caught my eye with their menu and their excellent reviews on both google and Yelp. We went for lunch- lunch specials are the way to go. I went with the 3 rolls special and ordered shrimp tempura roll, the Boston roll and the yellowtail roll. I admit- I ordered the Boston blind, I had no idea- google results were not the same as what I got and it was my least favorite- being crab, lettuce, wrapped in rice. But the shrimp roll and the yellowtail were excellent. The yellowtail was fresh- very important for raw fish. My son got the 2 roll special and went with the shrimp tempura roll and the spicy crab roll. He devoured the crab roll and also snagged the califonia roll from John's Bento Box. So- John got the chicken teriyaki Bento Box. He was the least thrilled with the meal. While Eddie and I enjoyed our sushi- John's chicken was over cooked and chewy. He didn't complain once during the meal and didn't confess till hours later. Maybe it was just one off dish. Maybe the sushi is the hit here- who knows. I will be back, I might not bring John though! I was looking for a weekday lunch deal on a day off and I came across this place. Based on the reviews, it seemed quite promising. I ordered the steak teriyaki Bento box which came with a soup or salad and white or fried rice. They asked how I wanted the steak and I requested medium well. The order was ready on time and when I was late arriving to pick it up, they called me! I walked into a rather dim dining room where just a few people were sitting during the lunch hour and where staff were prepping condiments for the serFor $12.95 plus tax, it was a pretty good value. Steak topping mixed veggies, two pan fried dumplings, 4 pieces of a California roll, and fried rice were in the box and a side salad was also included. The food was good despite a few technical issues. The dumplings were over fried and the steak was overcooked, way beyond medium well. But, it was a nice break from my normal weekday salads. The menu here is rather extensive and I saw a few things that I'd like to order. Hopefully the online ordering system will work next time as this time, I had to call the restaurant to place my order. Came here for the first time. We ordered the Lunch Bento box special for $14.95. We had the pork katsu and the steal teriyaki. They are generous with the portions and the food was very tasty. We also ordered the lunch special sushi which i thought was a very good deal. Service was very good. We even got complimentary sushi roll and oranges for dessert. Free edamame as an appetizer? They know how to strike me where I'm weak. Too bad the gyoza sucks...... The sushi is mostly jacked-up American flair. The two rolls I got were called "2017 roll" and something "sandwich roll." The fish is fresh enough, the portions are decent, and......I can't think of anything else that stands out about this place. I've ordered lunch from Tokyo Asian Kitchen several times now over the past few weeks so it's about time I leave a review. With the pandemic and working from home, I've ordered A LOT of takeout and Tokyo has quickly become one of my favorite places from which to order. I usually get either the Tokyo Lunch Any 2 or Any 3 sushi combo special, depending on how hungry I am. The Any 2 is $8.50 and the Any 3 is $11.95 (both before tax). You get the option of clear soup or salad with either combo. I usually choose the soup, which is a clear broth and a couple of pieces of mushroom. It's very light and similar to miso soup. Tokyo's lunch combos offer a good variety of rolls. My favorite is the spicy tuna roll but I've also tried the spicy salmon, yellowtail, and eel cucumber rolls. Besides those, they currently offer 18 other varieties. The spicy tuna roll is sincerely one of the best I've ever had but all of their sushi is quite fresh with just the right ratio of fish to rice. In comparison, I picked up a spicy tuna roll from Publix the other day after work and the ratio was more rice than tuna. So I definitely appreciate the amount of fish or protein you get at Tokyo for the value. Each combo, of course, comes with shrimp and soy sauces. You can either order by phone or online (which I discovered today). If you order online and enter your cell phone number, you receive a confirmation text with an estimated time for your order. My text said my order would be ready in 30 minutes but I arrived 15 minutes early and it was ready when I got there. The owners are always very friendly and welcoming, despite the fact you can't eat in during this time. The setup allows you to pick up and sign for your order in a respectable, socially distant space. I honestly can't say enough good things about Tokyo Asian Kitchen. At some point, I'll try other dishes on the menu. It just so happens I always go during lunch. It's never busy; at most, maybe one other customer has been there when I picked up my food. I imagine under normal circumstances, they maintain a pretty decent to good dining room full of loyal customers. They can count me as one as soon as things return to normal. In the meantime, Tokyo can continue to count me as a loyal takeout customer at least once a week. read more

What a beautiful interior, with calming and soothing lights to set the mood. It certainly has the look of a romantic restaurant, with a few exceptions. They have a full menu, with a lot of specialties you have come to expect from Asian Sushi restaurants. But for us, we came to try Sushi. Salmon Roe (2 pcs) - rich flavor, tightly wrapped Tomago - egg, with a hint of sweetness Green Dragon Roll - really interesting, wrapped in thinly sliced avocado, good flavors Philadelphia Roll - standard faire, but well done Inside Out - we had another roll that I cannot remember the name of, made inside out with cream cheese and eel sauce, probably our favorite. Overall the sushi was good and since we only came for sushi, I cannot comment on anything else on the menu. I will say if you grade your sushi based on the tightness of the seaweed wrap, it may not make your grade but I thought the flavors were good. This is the former Tokyo Restaurant at Atlantic and Kernan, moved to this spot a few blocks closer to the beach. Comparing this to other popular sushi restaurants, I have to say it does not really meet their peer group. Some restaurants serve a little appetizer, or include soup or salad for big sushi orders. Not here. And while the restaurant is gorgeous, with soft multicolor lights and soothing Japanese music, they had to fight over the brightness and volume of the football game playing on the TV. (Note, we were the only table in the restaurant for most of the time.) in addition, we came at 9:00 PM and shortly after the kitchen seemed to empty as all the employees sat down for their dinner just a few tables away (it is a small dining room). This just really took away from what is a gorgeous and upscale interior. Since it is close to our house, I was excited to see it opening and maybe some of the miscues are because of new restaurant jitters. read more

I stopped in for lunch and sat at the Sushi bar. The sushi chefs were very helpful and they gave me a complimentary avocado/crab roll. I ordered the lunch special and had the lunch 2 roll deal. I ordered the Dynamite and JB roll, both of which were delicious! Service was excellent, overall it was a great experience! I will definitely go there again the next time I want sushi. read more

been coming here for years and loved it. but recently the food seems old and not fresh. such a bummer. just not as good as it used to be.

I will start by saying that I am not a sushi fan. Crystal and #1 son were craving sushi so I got pulled along with them. They were in sushi heaven with California, Boston, Shrimp tempura, yellowtail, and spicy crab rolls. I got the "not sushi" chicken teriyaki bento box with the aforementioned chicken teriyaki with rice (choice of white or fried, I did white), sautéed veggies, a california roll, and two gyoza (basically meat stuffed wontons), and a clear broth soup. The rice was the "sushi type" sticky rice which I love. The veggies were tasty and crisp. I happily redistributed my sushi roll to #1 son. The chicken was good but seemed to have been cooked just a shade too long. Crystal and #1 son thoroughly enjoyed their meals. read more
