I'm not making a review about kingsway mall in general. i'm making a review about a store called…read moredesigner depot because during my christmas shopping i noticed a few red flags as well as green flags. 1. i overheard certain staff members talking very rudely about other staff members. 2. i was not aware of multiple policies due to no one explaining it to me so when i went back to exchange an item i was not able to do so considering non of the employees were telling customers about them. 3. the cashier with dark hair and glasses was EXTREMELY sweet and very professional considering how young she looked. 4. i was greeted by a very sweet young man who was making sure the store was safe from homeless people due to an incident. Yes there were a few red flags but majority of my visit to this location was okay. one other thing it is very difficult to identify who is an employee due to the employees not having name tags. Note: i couldn't find the actual store to review

The staff is on top of cleaning up things and keeping the floors clean from all the mud that comes on the shoes from off the street. My only complaint is that I feel there could be a better selection of stores and options. Some of the stores though offer good pricing and good discounts. I will continue to shop here and hope that they get a better selection in the future.

Southgate isn't the kind of place I recommend visiting in December, but then again I don't…read morerecommend visiting any mall in December (not if you can help it). That being said if I'm gonna go to a traditional indoor shopping mall then Southgate is my top pick. It's mostly a convenience factor (I like Kingsway too, but I live closer to the south side). The mall is older, I think 25 or 30 years old, but they've don't a lot of renovations in the past 5 years so everything looks new and bright. Southgate has a nice amount of stores, not too many, and I can usually find what I'm looking for when I come here. There are some higher end stores like Michael Kors, and the Apple Store (well high end depending on what you by) to your run-of-the-mill Canadian mall standards like The Bay and Sears. There are also a few stores here that are great to go to because for me it means avoiding a trip to WEM or going downtown (I love downtown, but I don't love driving/parking downtown). So yes it's great I can buy my makeup at Sephora here instead of going to WEM or going to Evoolution (delicious artisan olive oils and vinegars) instead of having to go downtown or to St. Albert. One of my favourite things about Southgate is the food court. It's open, and can be a bit loud, but it's got a decent fast food selection from Koryo (Korean) to Opa (Greek). I also love how environmentally friendly Southgate is...they've got bins for recycling, trash, and they even have drains so you can pour out your beverage down the drain instead of dumping it in the trash. There's even a separate spot to put the utensils. The other high point of Southgate, as strange as it might seem are the washrooms by the food court (well the ladies at least, can't speak for the men's). Why? Because the washroom stalls are huge (seriously you could probably get 4 people in there), they have a heavy wooden door, and when the door is locked it goes from a green vacant to a red occupied. I wish all public bathrooms did that, instead of playing the knock-to-check-and-see-if-someone-is-in-the-bathroom-stall game. The bathroom stalls also have a a big purse ledge for you put your purse/bags on. And when you go to use the sinks after you're done there is a automatic paper towel dispenser in front of every sink. No waiting in line to dry your hands. Score. Regarding parking it can get busy here, but I usually find the parking lot is pretty decent, particularly if you go to the upper level there's usually always spots there (maybe not right before Christmas). Southgate is also on the LRT line (right after Century Park) so it's convenient if you take transit. Just know Southgate isn't park and ride, so if you park here and take the lrt you could get a ticket (yeah they check that). One thing that is a little weird about Southgate is the layout. It's a mall that was just designed a bit weird, but it's not a big mall and easy to figure out. It can get busy, but it doesn't have the insane crowds that WEM does. Southgate is definitely my go to mall in Edmonton.

It's really small but it has all the things you go to the larger markets for. I was impressed and will head there on a Sunday for my vegges instead of venturing to Whyte Ave and scrambling for parking! I heard form my last visit to Edmonton Public Library that they will be closing this location down so I wonder what will happen to this remaining building after they move out?

I had never been before Friday so I had no idea what I was in form. While WEM is famous, Kingsway is a secret gem, and Southgate is gaining fame as a great mall too, Capilano has been left behind. The "food court" only has 4 or 5 food options and few tables. The most on-trend womens' clothing store is Smart Set, which, while not bad, is never my first choice. I came for a massage at Makami College located in the mall, but I didn't take too much time to stick around post-rub. Not much to see here, folks.

You can get your hair cut here, get new eyeglasses or have a vision test, get a massage, book a trip abroad or exchange, shop for dorm room decor, study, go tanning, do your banking, meet with an accountant or seek therapy. I think you only thing you can't do here is drink, but there are plenty of places within walking distance of The Hub, like Hudson's on Campus and Earl's. The Hub rocks. Every university should follow suit.

Here's a list of what you can do here: -your stinking laundry (cause your momma ain't around) -get your shoes repaired -your banking -book a vacation (if the previous option was positive) -grab some breakfast, lunch, or late night snack (and get fat on Cookies by George) -buy a last minute birthday card -buy a new pair of eyeglasses -cram for that exam you've been in denial about -get a cheap haircut (but see my review for the Hot Razor before you really do) It's a really convenient place, whether you're a student or just passing through. It can get crazy busy around afternoon hours though, with high traffic on both sides of the long corridor. Do not, I repeat DO NOT stop in the middle of the traffic, as you will have a bunch of angry students with heavy textbooks piled up behind you. Simply move to the side, and do not look back until safe to do so. Also, it gets crazy hot in the summer because they have crappy air circulation. In fact, I don't believe they have AC ... so it gets pretty stuffy. That's when the frozen yogurt and ice cream they sell come in handy!

They are the largest antique store in Western Canada, and so there is a lot to see here. From vintage license plates to toys to furniture to everything in between (and then some). I like coming here just to browse and see what they have. The Old Strathcona Antique Mall is filled with different antique/vintage vendors so trying to hunt down a particular item can be hard, and might be in more than one spot. That said I've been on the hunt for vintage travel postcards from specific destinations I've visited (and there's a particular style I want). Postcards are in several different spots so when I come here I try to go through them all. I've done pretty well on my mission, but there are still some destinations I don't have. Oh no that means I have to go back to The Old Strathcona Antique Mall, probably pretty soon.

It's not messy and full of discard garbage like Nordstroms. My highlights were the Kate Spade and Nike store. It's bright and cheery. The food court is awesome. The ladies bathroom could use a little attention, but it's clean. There is ample free parking. I can't wait for the new Swarovski Crystal store to open. There's lots of job postings.

I love going for a walk down the mall and picking out the happiest most cheery older lady and thinking to myself "I hope I'm happy like her when I'm old" Now I'm not much of a shopper. I'm more of a get in, get out type of gal. I hate the frantic feeling of the bigger malls and I tend to avoid the hustle bustle of a big mall whenever possible. This mall has just the things ya need. A Safeway, a Dollar Store, the Roxx store (get your fill of wacky gems and wood figurines!!), a Suzy Sheer, and a bunch of lil knick knackery stores that are fun to walk passed. My favourite store in the mall is the As Seen on TV Store because I like to go in and sit in the massage chair. Tell em you're friends with KDogg and they'll let you sit there an extra couple of mins! Another thing I love about this mall is that it seems like the administration really tries to plan events and activities for families. At Easter they had a petting zoo, they have a small children's funzone and they often have lil collectors exhibits. They also have giveaways like if you spend a certain dollar amount they'll give you an eco mug or something small, but I appreciate that!! When I went before Christmas I saw an artist painting beautiful murals on the mall floor. I took his picture and he seemed so happy to be there! Also one time an older couple was playing music throughout the mall. The lady was singing while the gentlemen played an accordion. It was so beautiful and touching... I swear I almost teared up! These are the type of feel good community care things that you just aren't going to get at a big mall. So pop in, see what she's all about!!

This happened at Stitches Factory Outlet store. I gave cashier a 50$ for a $16.00 purchase. I was…read moretold they had to get the 50 verified. Someone had spilled a bottle of perfume at the counter and it took my breathe away due to my COPD. I told the cashier I would wait by the door while they got my change ready and then I would come and get it. Cashier said that was fine. While I was at the door the manager berated me saying that they would not walk my change across the store to me. I told her I didn't want that and had not requested that. The manager kept repeating herself and was forcing me to try and breathe around the fumes. I finally had to cover my nose and mouth with my shirt in order to breathe. The manager kept repeating herself and I kept replying the same thing. I didn't think she heard me because of the shirt so I raised my voice so that she could hear me. She said to me "just because you are OLD doesn't mean you can raise your voice to me". This is a clear contravention of the Alberta Human Rights Act. When I asked for her head office contact, she refused to tell me.
