During my last shopping trip, I got points for my sister's purchases as well as my own. Recently, I got a reward card in the mail from Simon's for $37.00. My husband was skeptical and wondered if I needed to make a minimum purchase to use that credit. I used it tonight on a purchase and it is definitely as good as money. Scan and go! The staff are all kind of new and they are still learning the POS, but they are friendly, patient and helpful.

I'll tell you what I like about Simons ... variety. This is not a boring retail establishment. Inside you can pay 60$ for an ugly sweater with a roaring tiger on the front that looks like it was drawn by a junior high student or you can pick up an impressive $1,500 suit. At times you can overpay for styles you'd find cheaper elsewhere, but inside you'll find occasional sales and well priced items that you thought were more expensive. It's zig and zag, it's salt and pepper and that's why I keep coming back! It's weird to say this but I absolutely love the men's underwear, ties and socks options. The selection is immense and really appeals to me. In fact, that's all I think I've ever purchased here save a blazer. At worst coming here is an hour of retail entertainment!

Simons, I surrender!! I walked into your store not knowing what to expect, you certainly were hyped enough. The nearly year long, major construction of your WEM location saw the entire outside of the construction zone wrapped in a billboard, that seemed to stretched, over hundreds of feet of mall space. Not to mention the masses of billboards around the city: "Dress Code To Follow" became a daily commute mantra! I entered through the Men's section entrance, one of the three entrances including an exterior one to the parking lot. I was not blown away, but did see that this was on par with the new Bay's or Macy's. There was DC, Lacoste, Ralph Lauren ect. I then entered the Women's section, ok, there are some really cute tops, sweaters and dresses. Oh wow, brands I love and that are hard to find such as Vera Moda. Ok ok, this is looking good - great brands, with affordable prices in a well lit, airy, well conceived store. I then notice at the opposite end of the store is a very large home section; sheets, towels, small decor, perhaps I will make my way over. OH OH OH, on no, on my way across the store I am attacked, full on siege, I am instantly surrounded by my kryptonite... BLING! Whoa is me, there are sparkly, shiny, blingy, cute, fancy, funky, chic baubles all around me. I can not resist their lure. Must buy something, just one, one necklace. Oooo, maybe two, er three. Yes I will buy four necklaces and a ring. I now seek shelter in the form of very cute red head that politely smiles and rings in my spoils of war. Hmmm, $49.95 for 5 pieces of costume jewelry (that I will explain to hubby I can't live without, hee hee). Well, if that is the price of doing battle in this new department store, I say bonjour Simons, Bienvenue to Alberta! (Ya ya, my French sucks)

After much searching at many stores, we ended up getting my fiances suit for our wedding at Simon's, and I must say that I couldn't be happier with the experience. We were looking for a three piece suit (which is almost impossible to find right now), and ended up picking out a grey two piece and getting a vest elsewhere (Express) that matched almost exactly. The service we received both times (the initial visit and the day we actually purchased the suit) were exceptional. I also love that they do in house alterations. This was SO convenient, it took less than a week to get everything done and it was very inexpensive. They also have a great selection of semi-tailored french cuff shirts for under $100. I'm very pleased with how everything has turned out. Simon's continues to be one of my favourite new stores. The range of products that they carry is varied in both variety and price-point. The store itself is always immaculate, well organized (considering how huge it is) and well staffed. I also love how every one of the change rooms (particularly in the men's area) is different. Even the architecture on the outside of the building is fantastic. When we went to pick up the newly tailored suit, we went to the customer service area on the upper level for the first time, and it was a neat office area with seating for people waiting and an interesting lighting feature going up the staircase. I've yet to be disappointed by a purchase from this store, and will continue to shop here for the foreseeable future. They made checking off one more thing on the wedding "to-do" list relatively easy and fun.

The store makes me feel like I've walked into some wealthy lady's dressing room. Clothes everywhere. Lingerie everywhere. Decorations everywhere. Kids toys. Housewares. Every time I go in I just want to lounge on the settee and have my servants cater to my every whim. OK, back to reality. As mentioned, Anthropologie is a hodge podge (I mean that in a good way) of clothing, decor and books. The clothes can be a bit over the top but the closer you look the more likely you'll find something of interest. The cool thing is they also have kids toys and housewares. It's almost a one stop shop. Another dose of reality is their prices. They're on the high side, but like many things in life you get what you pay for. Often times you can find the decor items at a better price, but by the time you find (if you even do) you'll likely have spend that much in time and effort. It seems when you go into the store, there's always something new. On my recent visit, my husband headed straight for the records and they don't update their stock often. Most fans of records likely go to specialty stores. I like looking at the gadgets and browse the sale section. I found a few cute key covers that included cupcakes, sushi, and hamburger designs. How could you not use and love them for $2? Even if you don't buy anything, I'm sure you will find something funny or entertaining in this store. We took a chance on Sara's and I'm so glad we did. It was the second store we went to. We walked in on May 19th, with Grad coming up on June 7th. The saleslady acknowledged that it was a tight timeline, but wasn't worried. She explained the layout of the store and let us look around for a few minutes. She was incredibly helpful with pulling dresses and getting them done up. We found THE dress quite easily. It was only the second or third one that was tried on, but there was no interest in anything else after that. They had the correct size/colour combo in their warehouse and said it would be in in a week. So, back we went on May 24th to try on the dress again. The seamstress was standing by to make note of what we wanted done, and made a few suggestions. I was worried but she assured me that the dress would be ready by June 5th and it would be perfect. She was right. It was absolutely stunning. It fit perfect and the alterations were amazing. The dress was $525 and the alterations were $189, but hey... you only graduate once! I would definitely recommend this store to others. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Side note... on one of our visits to the store, there was a lady there trying on dresses for her wedding. She was probably in her 40s or 50s and mentioned that this was her 3rd wedding. The staff gushed over her like they would any young bride and helped her find the dress of her dreams. It was so heartwarming to watch.

They also had a selection of long dresses and short dresses. I picked a few long dresses in purple to try on and was successful in finding one that fit and I liked the style. The change rooms are large and they have mirrors and heels available to wear to gauge how the clothes look with heels. They had a sale of no GST but the dress was a final sale. The price was reasonable for a fancy dress and I was happy they had it in my favourite colour.
