This mall is really underrated. There are not one, but two record stores, a small but adequate food court, a cafe, a couple of clothing stores, an African store with really cool jewelry and clothes, a New Age store, and an anchors like Shopper's Drug Mart and Safeway. The latter is one of the biggest, brightest Safeways I have ever visited. Accessible from outside entrances are a cannabis shop and Liquor Depot. There's a mostly older demographic, as well as kids from nearby schools, but there's pretty much everything someone would need in terms of essentials, as well as a few out off the way surprised, like the music stores. read more

I came here to volunteer for Santa's Anonymous as they were using the space previously housing Target. The mall is the old style of one long line of stores but it does offer a decent selection of stores and there's also a bowling alley in the basement too which is fun if you need a break from shopping! Since they were full of volunteers, we had some time to kill before going back. We went to a few stores including HMV (found some great deals with gift merchandise marked down), Carlton Cards, and Shoppers Drug Mart. There's not much for women's clothing stores though, but there seems to be a good number of jewelry stores. They also have kiosks and vendors in the middle of the mall who are selling their goods. We ate in the food court and not a lot of selection but there's always available seating and it's clean as I see the staff wiping tables and taking away trays. There are also anchor stores including Safeway and Sears. Upstairs of the mall there are a few organizations that have their offices here so you can go to a meeting and shop in the same place! Not a mall that I'll find everything I'm looking for, but has some good shops that I can find some good buys. read more

This mall is improving, not that that takes much. Cleaner, with less dead space than a few years ago, but still pretty dated. Maybe Target is improving things. I'm guessing the elders are really going to rule this joint now that Capilano Mall is gutted. Bonnie Doon Lanes bowling alley still exists?!? I used to go to this mall when I lived near it, but now it is pointless. There is not much in this mall that I can't find elsewhere. This mall used to be good (maybe it only seemed this way because I was young, and I hadn't experienced much yet). The food court was done a couple years ago and it has some good food here (Subway, China Kitchen, A&W, New York Fries...) There is also an Albert's in the mall, and downstairs they have a bowling alley. Other than that, this mall is like all the others, only not busy & with less exciting stores. One of the smaller quieter malls in Edmonton. If you want to do some shopping with few crowds this is your mall. Just avoid lunch hour and after school hours when it gets inundated with school kids. If you are a fast walker you will have to weave in and out of all of the seniors at the mall! It is a mall that does attract the senior population. A few times a year they have an antique sale down the middle aisle of the mall. There are a wide variety of vendors and items so you can often find some great items. Bonnie Doon bowling lanes is downstairs. It's a nice bowling alley and doesn't seem too busy when I have been there. It's not a huge mall but it does have a good variety of stores. If you are a fashionista this probably isn't the mall for you. If you are a guy and hate shopping especially with crowds then this may be your go-to mall. read more

I shop at Bonnie Doon a fair bit as it's often en route in my weekly errands. There's not a lot of big box stores in this mall, but I kind of like that. It's always clean, not crowded and I can get most of what I need here. It's not the kind of mall I would clothes shop in, but for a quick stop for cards, books, groceries, postal services, toy shopping, a snack or haircut, it's great! They recently opened a Toys R Us Express, which was a huge plus for kids gift purchases, especially at Christmas when most malls are overcrowded. I have a great hair salon I go to here (Mist salon), and there's a Safeway and M&M meat shop when I need to grab a meal. A little gem in central south Edmonton, pleasant, quiet shopping. read more

Bonnie Doon is one of the mediocre malls in Edmonton. I stop here if I'm in the neighborhood but I never make a specific trip to this mall. The Safeway here is really the only reason I stop here when I'm in the neighborhood anyway. This mall is not a busy one. I don't think I've been here when it's busy. There are a lot of obscure stores in this mall because ti's not very busy. There are a lot of random t-shirt stores, leather stores, and knickknack stores. There are also a few travel stores and just about every cell phone store out there. There is a Santa set up at this mall so if you have little ones, you can stop by for a visit on Santa's lap. It's an OK mall if you are in the area but there is nothing special so I wouldn't make a special trip to go there. read more

I don't care what anyone says, I love Bonnie Doon Mall!! It's filled with the MOST adorable older people!! I love going for a walk down the mall and picking out the happiest most cheery older lady and thinking to myself "I hope I'm happy like her when I'm old" Now I'm not much of a shopper. I'm more of a get in, get out type of gal. I hate the frantic feeling of the bigger malls and I tend to avoid the hustle bustle of a big mall whenever possible. This mall has just the things ya need. A Safeway, a Dollar Store, the Roxx store (get your fill of wacky gems and wood figurines!!), a Suzy Sheer, and a bunch of lil knick knackery stores that are fun to walk passed. My favourite store in the mall is the As Seen on TV Store because I like to go in and sit in the massage chair. Tell em you're friends with KDogg and they'll let you sit there an extra couple of mins! Another thing I love about this mall is that it seems like the administration really tries to plan events and activities for families. At Easter they had a petting zoo, they have a small children's funzone and they often have lil collectors exhibits. They also have giveaways like if you spend a certain dollar amount they'll give you an eco mug or something small, but I appreciate that!! When I went before Christmas I saw an artist painting beautiful murals on the mall floor. I took his picture and he seemed so happy to be there! Also one time an older couple was playing music throughout the mall. The lady was singing while the gentlemen played an accordion. It was so beautiful and touching... I swear I almost teared up! These are the type of feel good community care things that you just aren't going to get at a big mall. So pop in, see what she's all about!! read more

PFFFFFFT so this is a seniors mall by far. It competes with Northgate? I think....There are no stres in there for men, nothing. They always have this antiqu sidewalk sale there but once you've seen it once its all the same. I stop by here for lunch sometimes, its the same typical foodcourt. There is a HMV here though. FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF AN OLD PERSON This is my favourite mall, all my friends hang out here. In fact I have so many friends here we take up nearkly the whole food court, which is fine by me keeps those young punks away around lunch when they all just hang around. They have all my necessities at this mall and I would recommend it to all. It just got a Tim Hortons too so I can sit down for even longer and enjoy my whole day here. Theres a Zellers for my clothes, a shoppers for my meds, and a safeway for my ensure. There are numerous bus stops around the mall but not a transit center. I love this mall. read more

The Tour De Malls De Edmonton continues! And falls flat. You have to realize that this review is coming from a fashion-hungry 20-something woman, and that is not who this mall is designed for. In an area that's pretty senior-citizen heavy, this mall is totally decent - even great - for its demographic. Shoe stores that sell comfortable shoes and places like Zellers that sell essentials at a low price. So mega-props to this mall's managers for knowing their target and selling it right. Unfortunately, this doesn't really leave me a reason to visit Bonnie Doon unless I'm in the area for something other reason. Even then, I think I'll only swing back if I need to do a Safeway run. Easily the worst mall in Alberta. Stores that come and go like the common cold. A poorly maintained parking lot. Sidewalks that are a deathtrap because they're not properly cleared. Out of control security guards who I've witnessed beating people senseless. Frequent vehicle break ins (according to EPS). The crime rate for this mall and the area surrounding it is over three times the city average. For a neighbourhood on the city's southside, that figure is absolutely disastrous. I'm just not sure what other people are seeing in this place. It's not quaint. It's not a community minded mall. It's a poorly run disaster zone. It's a run down dead mall verging on total collapse were it not for the rapid transit line being constructed on the other side of the parking lot. This mall has done this neighbourhood no favours. It is a nexus of bad management and disappointment. Morguard's shopping centres never fail to disappoint and Bonnie Doon is no exception. Avoid this mall and go to Southgate instead. read more

Bonnie Doon is my favourite community mall as they have almost everything you need for your day to day life! The mall is always clean and the food court is bright. Bonus, they have pretty great food court tenants for a smaller mall including A&W, China Court, New York Fries, Subway, Edo, Extreme Pita and Tim Hortons. There's a handful of national retailers. And pretty much every service from banking to dry cleaning to hair cuts and shoe repair is here. We like M&M and Safeway for quick groceries and prescription refills. read more

This is a community Mall, and it is a good one. Very few vacant stores - ever. It started out as a strip mall, anchored on either end by Loblaws and Dominion. There was a Simpsons Sears at one end and at one time a Macleods at the other, with the usual small stores like a Johnsons Drug store in the middle as well as a Bowling alley and a professional building (dentists etc) and a Bank of Montreal. Around the mid sixties it was turned into a real mall and at one time held awards for one of the best malls in Canada. At that time Sears opened their new store, which is now the Zellers store. In the 70's Loblaws moved out to be replaced by Safeway and Dominion just moved away and their location to the north was taken by Sears. Many changes over the years, but it serves the community well. I dissagree about the clothing stores, there seem to be quite a few to me. Not much for guys though. It's not a mall you would go out of your way to visit especially if you live in South or West Ed,,,but it serves Bonnie Doon and area well, even more now that Capilano mall is going for the "most vacancies you can have and still stay open" award. I like it. If I need to shop a hundred clothing stores I can go to southgate, If I want bizzare stuff or fun and games I can do West Ed, If I want crowds I can do Kingsway. Boonie Doon would be lost without this mall. read more

Bonnie Doon mall really captures the heart of what a great community mall should be with an excellent Safeway,several medical offices upstairs,and a handful of reasonably priced casual clothing stores. Much like other reviewers have mentioned this mall serves as a major social gathering spot for alot of the surrounding retirement communities. There is a Shoppers,HMV,Carlton and a handful of other stores that are staples in most of the cities malls however the ones here don't match their sister stores in terms of size and available stock. The food court doesn't have a dazzling array of selection but they do have Millwoods Town Center beat by offering Subway and Timmies. (Good luck finding a seat in the Timmie's however). The bathrooms are pretty nice and the whole mall is fairly tidy and well looked after so it feels like a more welcoming place to shop as opposed to somewhere like Millbourne. For members of this community I think this is a five star mall but for anybody just passing by needing more then a new pair of shoes or a haircut you would be better off hopping back in your car and heading towards southgate or making use of one of the many bus stops surrounding the mall to make the short trip to City Center. The fashion hungry shopper would be likely to leave Bonnie Doon feeling starved. read more

In terms of actually shopping, Bonnie Doon doesn't have much real selection. If you're looking for clothing or furniture or anything really, go to another mall. I have a certain fondness for this mall since I spent my junior high years in the food court being a mall rat. I still wince when I look at the bench where I canoodled with the first boy I "dated". It's a good mall to lurk about in when you're young - there's really no way you can get lost there. The mall is basically just a straight strip. The best things about Bonnie Doon are the RBC, Safeway and Dollarama. Maybe the Shopper's Drug Mart. read more

I don't normally come to this location, but I've always heard about it, today I had picked up a few short for my nephews and they were listed as 3$ on the rack, I found them to be a rather good deal but questionable at the same time so I decide to ask one of the reps on the floor, very pleasant and helpful young lady but she then called her manager NASH and he said no it's not it's 7$ and removed the sign and walk away, no apologies for their error on their part. I work in customer service and it's very disappointing as I personally would of offered a blameless apology but nothing. Maybe Nash should have some additional training. read more

I hate to be the one who gives Bonnie Doon a 2 star because I know that there are a lot of retirement communities around there and for a lot of people it seems to be a lifeline, as such. What disappoints me is that the mall is not planned very well and there aren't any good shops for clothing and accessories. I would think that's a pretty basic requirement. 1.) When it comes to planning, I hate that they've got this huge food court right in the middle of the mall. I know that it makes sense to have the food court equidistant from every corner of the mall, but come on. The whole mall, from entrance till you reach Sears sort of smells of french fries and general fast food. I guess, in general too, they've not thought too much about how their accessibility. Considering that so many senior citizens come here, it seems sort of odd that the mall is linear and not squarish in size. Also, their website is really poor. It's hard to find out what stores are there because they've got just an alphabetized listing and not one by different sections. 2.) Shops: they've got very many regular utilitarian things like wireless shops, drug stores, post office, dental, eyecare etc. but that's about it. I think it's more like a communtiy center than a shopping mall, if you ask me. I don't see them improving any time soon. The safeway here is certainly MUCH better than the one on Whyte and 109th Street and I like M & M meat shop for some things. In all other cases, I would avoid this mall. read more

Known throughout Edmonton as the "old people" mall, they do have a few interesting stores such as Game City for all your video game needs, Target which is nice, HMV, and a pretty awesome music store. Not the best mall in edmonton but far from the worst. read more

For what it is, it's okay, but realistically it's a very outdated rundown mall. It caters toward seniors and other demographics that might not be the most lush with cash, however, which makes it rather attractive if you're shopping for deals. It does include an ok food court, Tony Romas location, a Safeway, and a discount/outlet-like SEARS location plus a bunch of other stores to provide a good smattering of options for the shopper that visits. Transit is quite accessible here, and there's good parking as well. It serves the neighbourhood quite well but there's nothing to really stand out here -- I wonder what will replace Target as an anchor store (currently Santas Anonymous is using the space as their temporary home, but that won't last). read more

Can we even call this a mall? It's more like a Zellers with a few extra store tacked on. Sadly, this was one of the first mal-- er, "shopping centres" I went to when I first moved to Edmonton. Back then I thought it was a decent place...what I fool I was in my youth. I stopped by the other day and not much has changed (aside from the food court, as Francesca pointed out). It's still a ghost town. You're not going to find any awesome stores that you wouldn't find at any other Edmonton mall. I wouldn't go out of my way to shop here. I really hate to do it, but ya - 2 stars for Bonnie Doon Mall. This is NOT a shopping mall. It is sad and bleak, and just depressing. With no fashion stores, it is basically a Safeway and a Sears with a smattering of Canadian chains like Bentley and Flight Centre, and some one-offs that are geared towards the Seniors population. And there is nothing wrong with a "Seniors" geared mini mall, there are a ton out there, this, in my opinion is not a nice place. The celling is really low, the colour pallet of the tiles on the floor is horrible, it is dark due to no windows or natural light, the entrances are oddly placed - and so on, and so on. My biggest take-way was that it was sad, and it made me sad. I couldn't wait to get out of there, the whole "feel" of the place left me feeling uncomfortable and truly sad. read more

What a random little shopping centre! Kind of stuck in the 1980's, but it seems comfortable with it's life decisions to be there. Lots of more service-related shops, like banks and TELUS/Rogers/Bell type stores, some random general shops (e.g."Leather Store"), and a few brand-name places like HMV and Bluenotes. My reason for actually going to the mall was the Shoe Masters for a repair on my high heels, which I totally recommend. Half an hour for a full heel and sole repair! We had a bit of a wander while that was happening and the mall just made me laugh. But it's clean, simple and comfortable. Anything special or a destination? No. But if you need something in there, there's other stuff you can look at while you're there. read more

This isn't the most exciting mall out there but I do agree that it is a great place do get some errands done (Safeway, Zellers, Shoppers, etc). Also agree that it is not the greatest for clothes shopping but it does have a few stores that I like for work clothes (Le Chateau and Suzi Sheer). It's also a good place to get a hair cut (male or female - I think they have like 4 places?!). There's an Albert's and a Tony Roma's in the mall in addition to the food court (which is a little lacking but the New York Fries, the frozen yogurt place, and the new Timmies makes it all I need!). Sad to say the Safeway staff really don't want to be there. There are a couple of gems and I wish I got their names. The dark haired energetic lady in the floral dept rocks. Bonnie Doon Mall is my go-to for crappy weather when I want to shop but don't want to across the city. There are lots of events for kids on Halloween/Christmas and sometimes just because. The mall puts on a lot of promotional events, as well, including donations to the Humane Society with Pet/Santa photos! read more

Is this just me? I never had a problem at safeway... zellers, sometimes I get bad attendants once in a while... but honestly, wind and fido... I don't even see what they got these attendants for! They just sit there staring at you when you get close by... don't even bother helping that much. I guess some customers who know what exactly they wanna do might not find much problem. But for the newcomers, come on. You gotta come out and help the new ones out. These people just sit there, wait until you ask something, reluctant attitude, and they seem so unwilling to get off their chair! Even though I live right in front of the mall, I'm not ever going back to these stores just because of the terrible attendants. And this isn't my first time! I went to the same store couple times in order to ask something, and I always see the same attitude from the same people. Oh yea, the dollar store isn't even better. I went there a couple times, lady has a really annoyed face, seems really unwilling to work. Honestly! Why do these people even come out for work if they don't wanna do their job? As I mentioned before, I've been living right in front of the mall for about a year and a half now, and I see these attitudes all the time. There needs to be some change in this mall. read more
