The fresh seafood was good and the hot food was just ok. I don't recommend going with a large party- we had the private room and were told at the end they can't do separate checks. It was a sour way to end the evening because there were some people that don't drink or ordered lighter meals and the server just shrugged her shoulders at us. Being a server myself, there are always ways to accommodate, but not at Kingfish. Management was also super awkward and kept coming in but didn't say much- just made you feel uncomfortable. I have never been to Kingfish but while I was in Akron Ohio for training for work I decided to dine there after I read the menu!!! First impression dark, sexy, romantic, sophisticated, swanky space. Due to this being a non date night I sat in the bar area and quickly a server was there to literally wait on my every need. But it was a perfect balance of service were it was not irritating and awkward, it was timed perfectly where during the first introduction and my drink selection I knew he was going to get tipped quite nicely. Everything and I mean everything on the menu needed to be sampled but how my budget worked out I couldn't. But my salad was fresh and phenomenal and I had the Kingfish Trio where everything melted in my mouth like butter!!! I don't know what Else to tell you no I didn't have dessert which in hind sight I wish I would have sampled the key lime pie but I was full like a fat cat!!! This is one of the places I would go to if I ever see it at a city that I visit. Had our first dinner at this restaurant. The menu is very limited if your not a seafood lover. We ordered the chicken dinner and split it. It was ok, however they are very overpriced for what you get and the wedge salad was terrible. Coffe was a extra at 3.50. And they also added a 20% tip. We just left and are now sitting at Flemings enjoying a great meal. We ordered oysters. When they cane out they were tilted into the ice so that all the juices were gone and they were packed with ice. We returned the oysters. After seeing the tall well lit sign standing atop a hill off I-77 I decided to see what Kingfish was all about, little did I know it was part of the Hospitality Restaurant Group when I decided to give them a try. You may not know the restaurant group by name but certainly if you've been in the area for any amount of time you've heard of some of their other amazing restaurants - Delmonico's Steak House, Blue Pointe Grill, Cabin Club Steakhouse, Salmon Dave's Pacific Grille, Thirsty Parrot and Rosewood Grill. It didn't take but a few minutes after entering this establishment and finding a seat at the corner of the bar that I realized this was going to be a great food experience. I was immediately greeted by Katie who was tending bar, she gave me short accurate overview of the offerings while taking my drink order - her friendly and outgoing personality was welcoming but her skill in crafting a beautiful Martini was absolute perfection. I decided to pair my magnificently blended cocktail with a half dozen Blue Point Oyster, as one would expect they were served on a small platter of crushed ice and cleanly shucked retaining all of the succulent liquor along side a nice cocktail sauce, a citrus mignonette and a bottle of Kingfish's signature hot sauce. These were some of the nicest Blue Points I've had in a long long time. After enjoying the appetizer portion of oysters I decided on the Flat Iron Steak entrée cooked medium rare along with the Roasted Brussels Sprouts and Green Beans. The steak arrived perfectly cooked to temperature, sliced and still warm from the grill, the vegetables were just as amazing and the portions were very generous. This restaurant certainly met the standards of the other restaurants I've dined at that are associated with this restaurant group as did the service and ambiance. Was at Kingfish for a birthday celebration. Very elegant setting We started with Ahi tuna app, then to salads. The Beat salad was fantastic and very beautiful. I had the Crab Caesar salad which had a bountiful amount of crab. Very happy! The entrees are spectacular. Nicky had the king crab and filet platter. Steak was perfectly mid-rare, the carb legs came split and easy to retrieve the sweet meat. I had the Kingfish trio, consisted of lobster tail, scallops and shrimp. It was very simple but deliciously prepared with lemon butter. The only thing at dinner i did not enjoy was asparagus. It was slightly over cooked for my taste. I went with my husband and 4 year old on a Friday night at around 6pm. It was an early dinner for most people on Friday night, so not crazy busy, but it definitely picked up towards the end of our meal. I'll review the food, service, and facilities: 1.) food. I had the Hawaiian grilled tuna and my husband had the seafood trio, and an appetizer of 6 raw oysters (forget which kinds we picked, none were bad). My tuna was medium rare as I requested, and very good quality, melt in your mouth texture. It had a light chili sauce that worked well with the dish and the yams. The seafood trio had lobster tail, scallops, and shrimp. The lobster was great, the scallops great, the shrimp average (but unless shrimp is really coated in sauce after cooking, it always just tastes like bland seafood). He had greens and roasted potatoes as well, the potatoes were a bit too onion flavored for me but not bad. The quality of the seafood is really what you're coming for. There is a small kids menu, but this is more of an adult restaurant. If your children are quiet and well behaved they will be well received, mine definitely was. 2.) service. This was the best service I've had at such a decent price. I'm used to this level of professionalism when paying a much higher price, but this amount of effort and thought from their staff at the price range they are in was unexpectedly fantastic. When I go to Copley to see my buddy Pete we always got to Kingfish. It's a close local joint for him. I have never had a bad meal. Let me start by saying I love Kingfish. Amazing food, drinks, great happy hour. My complaint is regarding the bartender serving on 8/3 during happy hour. It was clear as day that she was treated me differently based on my age; I'm in my early twenties. She treated me very awkwardly and she half a$$ed my martini. A few older women at the bar ordered martinis as well but their glasses were filled to the rim. Mine looked like half the drink was missing. I didn't say anything. I've been through this many times with bartenders at nicer restaurants; age discrimination. She gave a lot of her attention and time to the older individuals at the bar. Listen. Young people tip better than older people. We know how the service industry works. We actually care about people getting tipped well. But it's hard to do that when we're getting discriminated against and treated differently based on our age. I work hard, I have a career, I had just gotten off work at my 8-5. I deserve the same respect and treatment as the older customers. This isn't the first time I've experienced this at Kingfish. The time before this time, the host treated me the exact same way. Very rude and not very accommodating. When I come to a place like Kingfish, I'm there knowing that I'm about to spend some money. If I wasn't going to spend money, I'd go to McDonald's. Treat young people the same way you treat older people. We deserve it. We work hard. We want to enjoy a nice restaurant too. read more

So this is just for the happy hour as we haven't dined in the dinner area. We love sitting at the bar, usually you get pretty good service and attention there. Plus, we don't mind being right by the TVs. The happy menu actually changes (as we found out) but usually its a pretty good deal. I read other reviews that the portions are smaller but since we haven't eaten the full dinner we aren't sure. The portions and prices do seem pretty reasonable for happy hour though. We always get some oysters, they come out fresh and usually pretty juicy, which we love. The fish pate is VERY delicious, with some crostinis and veggies that come with it. I loveeee mushrooms so the wild mushrooms with grits and greens are pretty good. I don't think they use that many wild mushrooms, but beggars can't be choosers. Beware that they add extra cheese on top, good for others but not good if you are lactose intolerant. It has good flavor, texture and is pretty filling. The steamed mussels are probably one of our favorite dishes. I can only think of one time that the mussels were not exactly right, usually tender and very succulent and tender. I would go for happy hour anytime, most days it is till 6 and I believe Sunday almost all day! read more

I will say it was really good even though I couldn't eat the chucks of fresh lobster I appreciated the flavor it gave and knowing it didn't come from a can soup like everything else I had been eating the last month had been. Finally, I ordered a limon drop martini. I was not happy with it at all, and I have had my share of Limon drop martinis. This one tasted weak either with a less expensive liquor or not enough. The drink didn't have the lemon, slightly tart or sweet (little) taste that was required. Customer service was great! It appeared all Covid19 precautions were taken with recycled menus (which was nice), face mask worn by staff and patrons entering the restaurant. Then removing to eat. Both were bee fresh and the tartare was really on point. Lobster bisque was super creamy and very rich in flavor with plenty of lobster bits. I had the scallop entree and the other two had the tuna. Let me start by saying the place has really nice ambiance. I really liked the romantic lighting and atmosphere. This is not the place you go, in a t-shirt. With that being said, we were disappointed in the service. Our waiter (whose name I don't recall because he didn't introduce himself) just showed up at out table and stood there. Three times. Didn't ask if we had any questions, tell us specials or ask how we were doing. Nothing. Then took our order and we didn't see him again until the food came. After that we saw him one time and he didn't give us refills or ask how things were going. We got the impression that he didn't think we could afford the meal, since we're a young couple. Which is an awful way to feel when you're paying so much for a meal/service. Not sure if we'll be back, but I would still tell other couples to give it a chance. read more

The best lobster bisque around! Well balanced, with plenty of lobster and cream. The happy hour at the bar is fabulous and comparably at their sister restaurant Blue Point. My husband greatly enjoyed the oysters and I really liked the smoked pate. Our bartender gave great service and I highly recommend the French 75 and the Noval 2007 port. So why not five stars? There was an off duty employee sitting at the bar one seat down. She spent her entire time on the phone complaining about how much she hates her job and how plenty of other places want to hire her. Kingfish is a go to place for seafood and a special occasion. We celebrated my birthday on 6/1 and everything was excellent. We prefer to sit in the bar area. The bread is so good, we usually get an appetizer that is on special. I got the surf and turf, which is never a let down. The lobster tail is so sweet and tasty. My fiancé got the crab cake dinner, expecting to possibly still be hungry. He was not. They surprised me with creme brûlée for a birthday dessert. Made us sick! I got the sea bass. My husband helped me finish it because it was a large piece. About 1 to 2 hours after eating It, we were running for the bathroom...I'll spare you the gory details. The sea bass was the only thing we ate that was in common, which is why I think it was seabass that made us sick. No one else at our table got sea bass. The sea bass didn't wow me. It seemed a tad dry, but I'd never had it before so maybe it was supposed to be like that?? I don't see what the hype is about sea bass...I've had just as good cod, perch, and walleye before for half the price. The rice pilaf that came with the sea bass was really delicious. There were 7 of us. The two who got the grouper said it was great. The one who got the porkchop said it was great. The one who got the ceviche said it was good. And the one who got the short ribs said they were just okay. My husband got the scallops and said they were good, but has had better and thought they were overpriced. The service was just okay. I was expecting really top notch service because there is a dress code (sign on door says 'proper attire required') and the decor is very fancy and the prices are high. But the waitress, like typical American waitstaff, made me feel rushed and pressured at times. She asked us what wines we wanted before we had a chance to look at the wine list, and when we said 'I don't know, I haven't seen the menu yet,' she stood there waiting for us to look it over and decide on the spot. We finally told her to give us a minute and come back. Our full party hadn't even arrived yet and she only gave us one drink menu. My husband was the first to finish his plate and of course his plate was whisked away while the rest of us continued eating. Why do restaurants train waitstaff to start clearing the table before everyone is done? Not only does it make people feel awkward sitting there with no plate, but it makes the slower eaters feel extremely rushed. I really expected more out of a more upscale restaurant. I ordered the Brussel sprouts after reading the portions were small, but I could barely finish them I was so full. The bouillabaisse was so good - ten or so clam, oysters, and mussels; fish; and six or so large gulf shrimp. The tomato broth was flavorful and light with very good andouille sausage. The lobster bisque lived up to its reputation - best I've ever had east of Maine. The grilled salmon entree was perfectly prepared and fresh. The drink menu is legit, and the Vieux Carre rivaled my favorite from The Velvet Tango Room. Highly recommended. read more
