The best lobster bisque around! Well balanced, with plenty of lobster and cream. The happy hour at the bar is fabulous and comparably at their sister restaurant Blue Point. My husband greatly enjoyed the oysters and I really liked the smoked pate. Our bartender gave great service and I highly recommend the French 75 and the Noval 2007 port. So why not five stars? There was an off duty employee sitting at the bar one seat down. She spent her entire time on the phone complaining about how much she hates her job and how plenty of other places want to hire her. It was very unprofessional and a complete turn off. It was hard not to let that overshadow everything good we experienced. read more

Ordered the lamb with chow-chow and fried green tomatoes. It was obvious the food was not freshly prepared. The lamb was just reheated in a microwave with a glaze and was plastic and dry. The chow-chow was watery and flavorless. The fried tomatoes were refried in overused oil. The lamb and tomatoes were given back. We were given complimentary chicken skewers that were reheated in a microwave. The only compliment from this experience was the waiter who was quite pleasant. Greg M. read more

Kingfish is a go to place for seafood and a special occasion. We celebrated my birthday on 6/1 and everything was excellent. We prefer to sit in the bar area. The bread is so good, we usually get an appetizer that is on special. I got the surf and turf, which is never a let down. The lobster tail is so sweet and tasty. My fiancé got the crab cake dinner, expecting to possibly still be hungry. He was not. They surprised me with creme brûlée for a birthday dessert. I have had quite a few things from Kingfish and I am always happy with my selection. Love this place! read more

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner on our way to Blossom Music Center. The staff were the best part of the experience.

We ordered lobster bisque, beet salad, Creole bouillabaisse, Grilled Salmon, Brussel sprouts, and a Vieux Carre. The food was great, and the portions were larger than other reviewers have mentioned. I ordered the Brussel sprouts after reading the portions were small, but I could barely finish them I was so full. The bouillabaisse was so good - ten or so clam, oysters, and mussels; fish; and six or so large gulf shrimp. The tomato broth was flavorful and light with very good andouille sausage. The lobster bisque lived up to its reputation - best I've ever had east of Maine. The grilled salmon entree was perfectly prepared and fresh. The drink menu is legit, and the Vieux Carre rivaled my favorite from The Velvet Tango Room. Highly recommended. read more

Made us sick! I got the sea bass. My husband helped me finish it because it was a large piece. About 1 to 2 hours after eating It, we were running for the bathroom...I'll spare you the gory details. The sea bass was the only thing we ate that was in common, which is why I think it was seabass that made us sick. No one else at our table got sea bass. The sea bass didn't wow me. It seemed a tad dry, but I'd never had it before so maybe it was supposed to be like that?? I don't see what the hype is about sea bass...I've had just as good cod, perch, and walleye before for half the price. The rice pilaf that came with the sea bass was really delicious. There were 7 of us. The two who got the grouper said it was great. The one who got the porkchop said it was great. The one who got the ceviche said it was good. And the one who got the short ribs said they were just okay. My husband got the scallops and said they were good, but has had better and thought they were overpriced. The service was just okay. I was expecting really top notch service because there is a dress code (sign on door says 'proper attire required') and the decor is very fancy and the prices are high. But the waitress, like typical American waitstaff, made me feel rushed and pressured at times. She asked us what wines we wanted before we had a chance to look at the wine list, and when we said 'I don't know, I haven't seen the menu yet,' she stood there waiting for us to look it over and decide on the spot. We finally told her to give us a minute and come back. Our full party hadn't even arrived yet and she only gave us one drink menu. My husband was the first to finish his plate and of course his plate was whisked away while the rest of us continued eating. Why do restaurants train waitstaff to start clearing the table before everyone is done? Not only does it make people feel awkward sitting there with no plate, but it makes the slower eaters feel extremely rushed. I really expected more out of a more upscale restaurant. Oh, and the clunky, heavy, metal menus are ridiculous. I usually give restaurants a second chance, but I wouldn't go back mainly because it made us sick. read more

We came here last night with a group of 6 for our annual Christmas get together and everything was just OK. We ordered a bottle of Veuve and a bottle of red to start. They brought out the wrong bottle of red which was conveniently more expensive and my brother in law didn't notice until it was too late. We ended up keeping it and they gave it to us for the price of the one we originally ordered. For appetizers we ordered salads, some Bibb, some Caesar, and I went with the Lobster Bisque and I'm glad I did because it was the best part of the meal. I tried a couple bites of my wife's Caesar and thought it was very good. The dressing was anchovy heavy which is right up my alley. Our entrees took what felt like forever to arrive after we finished our apps. I went with the Florida grouper which ended up being pretty bland aside from the smoked tomato gravy that accompanied. My wife ordered her usual crab cake thinking it would be like Blue Point considering they are the same restaurant group and it was way different. Very thick and lots of filler. Nothing like it's sister restaurant's crab cake. Other entrees ordered by our party included the Hawaiian tuna, filet mignon, and the Kingfish trio. Everyone agreed that nothing wowed and was just ok. Service was OK minus a few minor glitches including serving a beer in a cracked glass. All that being said, we felt that the prices were reasonable for the portion sizes and quality of the food. Would I go back, probably not. I would head north on 77 to Delmonico's or Blue Point Grille which are Kingfish's sister restaurants. Kingfish presents itself as upscale dining but it seems like they aren't up to par with the other restaurants in the Hospitality group. read more

Fantastic place for HH. Sat at the bar area, had oysters for $1 each, HUGE shrimp for $3 each, a nice cheese plate for $5, plus a nice cocktail. I think they have HH all day Sunday in the bar area. Will definitely be back on my next trip to the Akron area. read more

I had heard good things about Kingfish. I love fish and was looking forward to a scrumptious dinner. I ordered the halibut and must admit I was disappointed. My fish was mushy...overcooked and I requested that it be done medium. Others at our table thought their meals were good... but there were no raves. My meal was pricey....$39.00....and not worth it. Oh well! read more

This is my first time going to this restaurant and I was not impressed the price was high and portion are sooo small. I do high quality restaurants but this is one I will not recommend. Not enough seasoning and the Lamb brisket was burnt. Our waitress was so sweet but took so long to return. read more

Best happy hour in the area! In the bar, it's $6 martinis (hangar one or botanist...though we ask for them without the orange bitters in their recipe), $5 glasses of good wines, $1 chilled oysters, fantastic $4 rotating smoked fish pate, and many other delicious food options. The service is great too! Definitely recommend visiting for happy hour 4:00-6:00pm (and all evening Wednesday). read more

We had reservations yet placed in the bar. Very loud. Food was really great. But it took 45 min for our dinner to arrive. Without our complaining Management came over and provided us with free Shrimp cocktail. The service was excellent. I'm on the fence with returning. We might try them again if not placed in the bar with reservations. I like the atmosphere. read more

Mom and I have been wanting to try this place forever. Finally had the opportunity on 6/14/18. If I had known the service and food would have been a disappointment, I would have of save a lot of money. Seated in bar at a booth. Busier greated us with water and silverware. There was one other booth full and two at the actual bar. After watching the one server pass us several time and 15 mins later waiting to give our order, I told the hostess we have not been seen. Same server very attentive to the other booth, happened to be ours. She didn't not go over specials, she seemed bothered and annoyed I "told on her" for lack of service. We ordered only meals, no appetizers as the meals are $30 or more alone. She brought out 3 small pieces of bread for table and drawn butter. I mean we are paying a lot per plate, bring me more then 3 half slices of bread. She brought our meals and didn't see her back till she saw me starting at her. I am almost positive Moms lobster was undercooked, the scallops are over salted and zero flavor for shrimp. Over all experience was not good. Elizabeth B is a piss poor server. I won't be back. Wasabi up the road has full of flavor fully cooked lobster, shrimp and scallops. Won't waste my time here again. Side note, my Mom was in the bathroom most of the night. Undercooked bland seafood. read more

The atmosphere and presentation were much nicer than I had anticipated from their very cheap looking PVC gas station-esque untextured sign. I had the scallop and shrimp sauté and it was tasty. The scallops were very well prepared (perfectly seared but very slightly underdone.) the mashed potatoes were excellent as was the Shrimp and Grits appetizer. To be fair, however, the prices are extremely steep, so there's no special value here. It makes up for its price, but no more. If it was 25% cheaper it would be a 5 from me. read more

Went there for dinner on Tuesday evening. Restaurant was pretty empty but they sat us in the bar where it was very loud. The waitress READ the menu to us and we were sitting there with them in front of us. My husband had the scallops and he said they were pretty tasteless and did not have a good sear on them. The brussel sprouts were rock hard. My mother and I had the steelhead trout which was very good although it wasn't hot. I doubt we will ever go back. The prices were a little too high for the quality of the food. There are better restaurants on Restaurant Hill. read more

Love love love me some Kingfish. First, the happy hour is just STUPID (to borrow Aaron Boone's reaction to hitting a knock-off home run in ALCS Game 7 between the Yankees and Red Sox in 2003 ... one of my favorite baseball moments ... but I digress). They have really yummy blue point oysters for $1.50 and the best cocktail sauce I've ever tasted. I usually get, um, 12 ... but only 6 at a time, so I don't look like such a pig. I spread a little cocktail sauce, squeeze a little lemon, and slurp my way to food ecstasy. Their shrimps are also lovely, but I'm obsessed with the oysters. The rest of the menu is wonderful. I love creole (and cajun) food anyway, but the way the chef has weaved it into the entrees is truly wonderful. I'm a big fan of the shrimp and grits (my favorite "food group"), but I had the cod last week, and it was perfect. I will admit I've never dined in the restaurant. I always snag a spot at the bar. David, the bartender, mixes wonderful drinks and is lovely to talk to. This is a really special place. read more

Definitely make sure you don't arrive in jeans or a t-shirt. The decor and setting is very upscale as well as the menu. I will say that seafood is more of their specialty so if you want a good steak I would go elsewhere. We had the Ahi Tuna appetizer, and the oysters. My husband had the Kingfish Trio and I had the Filet Oscar. Nothing had flavor or seasoning, and was just bland. We even had to add salt to the tuna. The steak wasn't seasoned, and none of the sides like red potatoes or green beans had flavor either. I asked for my steak medium, but if their medium is more rare I want it a little over medium. It came out well done. Our server never brought us bread or even came back to see if our meals were okay. Dessert was honestly the best thing we had. We probably wouldn't go back as we have paid $150 for better meals elsewhere. read more

Delicious food, was in Akron for a business trip and was recommended this place by a local, was not disappointed. Steven George is the glue that holds the place together. Wish it wasn't 3 states away though lol read more

Last night was my first time at this restaurant. My mother and I stopped on the way home from Cleveland. The general manager was greeting people and we were told it had only been open for about four months. The waitress was friendly and service was excellent. I had the Kingfish Trio and my mother had the maple-glazed pork chop, and we split the smoked lamb brisket & ahi tuna poke appetizers, followed by the chocolate brownie with salted caramel ice cream & the blueberry poundcake dessert special. The whole meal was well-executed and flavorful. The restaurant itself is clean and the atmosphere is relaxing. I even loved their brewed iced tea; it was refreshing and had no strange aftertaste like other places. Although the prices are high, I feel it is worth every penny. We'll definitely be back - I have my eye on the Creole shrimp stew! read more

Kingfish was the perfect location for a special occasion meal. We were celebrating my dad's 65th birthday and Kingfish was the perfect pick! We started with lobster bisque, which was creamy and full of flavor. We ordered Brussel sprouts as a starter, and they were perfect to share. We had the lobster encrusted cod, which was flaky and lights. We finished with a delightful creme brûlée. The service was excellent, and everything about our experience was first class. read more

Oysters and bourbon at the bar -- that's what you should get at Kingfish! My friend and I'll will frequently meet up at Kingfish, sit at the bar and catch up over oysters and bourbon. They often have a selection of oysters from both coasts, so you get a mix of the briny and sweet. Served ice cold with the standard mignonette, it's a good way to end the day. The restaurant side is very nice, with clean lines and a modern decor. Yet it's not pretentious, as you might expect. There is a sign on the door that says proper attire required, but I've seen people dressed down here. The prices are on the top end, so come here expecting to spend money. This makes Kingfish a nice place for a special occasion, or a date-night, or a business meeting. I would highly recommend Kingfish. read more

Great decor and ambience, friendly service, but subpar food. Came for dinner on a weeknight. Started with the besting cocktail (was the highlight of the night), then the lobster bisque (that was OK), and the lobster crusted salmon (also, OK). Price point was on the high end of seafood restaurants, which also combined for the 3-star rating. read more

Wasn't feeling all the great when I walked into restaurant, so the food just wasn't tasting right to me, I tried my mom's too, and my taste was definitely off, so I didn't really eat, the manger came by and asked how everything was, I said it was ok, and he asked how he could fix it, and I just said it's honestly fine, I wasn't feeling great anyway, and the waitress Deborah asked again if everything was ok anything if there was anything they could do, and again, everything is fine, I told her it's not you, it's me lol. We would just box it up and my mom would take it home. To our surprise they not only comped the meal 50% and also gave us 2 free desserts. The service here went above and beyond, and will definitely be returning once I'm feeling a little better! read more

I have eaten at Kingfish a number of times over the past 4 months. In the past the food was delicious and the service attentive. This last experience was anything but that. I ordered the Roasted Halibut, which I have ordered every time before. In the past it was moist, perfectly seasoned as were the sides. This time the fish was tasteless and dry. The sides were blah. We ordered dessert, buttermilk creme brûlée, it was soupy. Overall very disappointed in the meal. I won't be back anytime soon. I don't know if they have changed chefs or managers but Kingfish has gone downhill. read more

Today was a super perfect "Seven Star Experience". Luved the ambience and the seating selection thx to McKenzie. The wines, mixed drinks and the champagne selections were amazing. The appetizers and the main course selections were phenomenal. A very special thanks to Cynthia who made it so very very special for all of us. She was simply "amazing". Joe / chef made it very very nice for us. Thanks to Mike and Ryan for being such great hosts. This was the best experience thus far surpassing any previous experience I have had at Kingfish undoubtedly. Would highly recommend this place. Met friends for dinner here last night. Food was average. Thus the 2 stars. Our service was horrible. Our waiter had no personality and really shouldn't be a waiter. We had to ask for specials, ask for bread, remind him of missing drinks & the highlight was being given our check at the end of dinner with my salad boxed that I had ordered and that never came. This service doesn't go hand in hand with a $180 check for 2. So many other choices for better food & service! read more

This place used to be wonderful, but the last few times: 1. Poor service 2. Food was marginal, very disappointed 3. Has management or the chef changed? Will not go back. Went for my birthday in April & everyone (6 of us) were disappointed in the food. This was a very great restaurant, but it is no longer meeting my expectations in food quality or service. Too bad, because we thought we found our answer to Blue Point & Salmon Dave's now that we re-located to Medina. read more

We went on Valentine's Day. They were out of the wine we wanted, they were out of the appetizer we wanted and they were out of the lobster tail which was part of the entree I ordered.
