I meant to go to a nearby alterations place but it happened to be closed that day and since I was so busy and didn't want to come back on another day, I took a chance on this place with the good reviews. That was a mistake. 1. Walked in, and was immediately questioned several times: Did you call ahead of time? (No--did I have to make reservations??) They seemed extremely irritated! 2. When do you need this by? (Trying to be accommodating, I said ~2 weeks and they kept pressuring me to push it further and further until it was 20 days out, and the day before I absolutely needed it. Do you want my job or not?! Just say so!) 3. The woman kept pushing to alter the waistline even when I said several times that it was absolutely fine! I only had the hem shortened and the top taken in a little. 4. When I came back at the appointed time to try it on, I threw the dress on and it fit enough so I left. I was in a hurry to get to work, since, you know, they didn't leave me much time to inspect their work. And besides, what could they do, less than 24 hours before I had to get on a plane? At least they were nice to me this time around, probably because they were getting paid. 5. When I finally put the dress on and wore it for more than 2 minutes, it was so tight at my bust that I couldn't breathe. I had to actually change my undergarment plan. It was a mistake to come here. If you don't want business, then say so instead of sighing loudly and pushing the deadline back to the point when I can't even protest at a job that was terribly done. read more

I went into training 18 months ago and dropped 30 lbs. in preparation for my 7th decade. I brought in my favorite (and very expensive) blue pin-striped suit which I bought nearly 20 years ago to ready for my Godson's wedding. The pants were not only way too big, but well out of style. The Jacket was also totally out of wack from the collar to the front buttons. Kim's worked a total miracle and completely re-tailored every aspect of the garment. I was a first time client with Kim's Alterations recently and will definitely return. I've already referred my fellow bridesmaids for an upcoming wedding. They were able to shorten a zipper that went all the way down my bridesmaid dress and was creating a bump in my behind. It seemed impossible, but they did a beautiful job. They also added a hook and eye at the top of the dress for me, and altered the slit which ran all the way up the leg, taking it to a more appropriate length.
