Do NOT go here! The lady is very angry if you dare to question her. I am in shock at how I was treated. I have had many alterations done here, and sometimes it's good, and sometimes it's not very precise or what I asked for; it's also kind of expensive. But this time she hemmed my dress too short, and it was uneven. The hem was a good 2 inches shorter on one side than the other. She tried to blame my dress, and then, when I insisted she get a measuring tape and she realized I was right, she tried to hide the fact. She then got really aggressive and was yelling and screaming at me, inches from my face, and slamming the pocket doors. I was stunned! Then, just like others have relayed here on Yelp, she screamed at me to get out. It's all fine until it's not - don't risk it. My dress is unwearable. read more

Literally the worst experience that I had. I brought the dress asked to fix it, the lady undid my dress straps that were fixed and pre measured before telling me she would fix it. When trying on dress and asking to adjust them to my length I wanted, she clearly made them longer and I could see my bra. she got upset, flared up and literally kicked me out of her place saying : Get Out of my place! I am never coming back! This is extremely rude behavior and honestly I am shocked how she stays in business with such attitude. I was in a pinch because my wedding was just a few weeks away and I needed alterations on my dress! The dress itself was beautiful with a lot of detailing and beadwork. I called Jenny at Best Tailor and she told me not to worry and come in for a fitting. When I brought my dress in I noticed that a lot of care and thought had gone into remodeling the whole place. Jenny and her staff were accommodating, kind, and efficient throughout the entire process. They did an amazing job at taking in my dress at the waist/bust and also shortening the length of my dress to make sure my dress didn't drag with my flats. I was so satisfied with the quality of work done on my dress that I asked Jenny and her staff if they could do some minor alterations on my wedding party's tuxedos and bridesmaid dresses. I had an alterations lady who I loved for years, and during the pandemic, she came over to join the team at Best Tailor. She had done great work for me in the past and when I saw that this place specializes in wedding dresses, I knew I would bring my dress here. They did a superb job on getting that personalized fit that you want and need on your special day, and I can't even see where the alterations were made. The only downfall is that the location wasn't super convenient for me, I wish they would expand to add some more locations. But, well worth the drive nonetheless. My first three or four experiences with Best Tailor went decently well, so I brought them five items for alteration, including a formal dress which they took in two entire sizes and hemmed for $45. Overall, I spent $120 on the five items. From then on, they decided I had plenty of money to spend, and tried to charge me $45 to hem a single dress. I pointed out they had previously charged me $45 for a much more detailed alteration only a week before, and they told me I was mistaken. Actually, they yelled at me in completely undecipherable semi-English, but I did understand enough to know they were calling me either stupid or a liar. They then tried to rip the already-pinned dress out of my hands and were frantically offering to do the job for less, now that they were caught trying to overcharge me. When I said I was taking the dress elsewhere, they chased me and ripped the pins out of the dress. Heaven forbid the next tailor see how you were planning to hem the dress or get three cents worth of straight pins. The quality of the alterations was mediocre at best, often leaving unfinished portions or uneven hems. Certainly not worth the attempted overcharge if they think you can afford it, or the ensuing fight if you choose not to pay their inflated prices. read more

Over the past few years I purchased a number of high end men's suits - Brioni, Gives & Hawk, H. Huntsman, etc.....Initially I took one or two to all the top tailors in the south bay.....in order to see who might do the best job........! This was the only tailor who immediately knew and offered that because all my suit jacket sleeves had "working or surgeon's cuff", that in order to alter the sleeve properly, the sleeve would have to be taken off and altered from the shoulder.....Then they quoted me a "reasonable" fee for the service.....Since then I have taken over 30 suits and sport coats to Best Tailor and every time been completely satisfied......The husband is an excellent tailor and even completely "recut" an expensive Brioni double breasted suit for me and I have had nothing but compliments........They are truly as their name states "The Best Tailor"......in the South Bay and I highly recommend them for mens suits, sport coats and any article of clothing of value ! read more

Wow! So I had an emergency alteration I needed done to my bridesmaid dress. I just hadn't had any time to do it, and then I realized the night before that my dress was way too long and decided to try to find a place which did same day alterations. After going to a few different places which declined me, Best Tailor said no problem! They had my dress ready in about 4 hours and did a great job. I told them to take a little more off than they wanted, but that's my fault for not bringing the heels I was going to wear with them. They were just estimating and to be safe I had them take a little extra off. So now for the pricing! Only $35 for my rush order. I couldn't have been more pleased!!!! I would definitely go back! I never been to a professional tailor, just kept going to the dry cleaners with the quick alteration. But, one too many messed up hems and money down the drain. I decided to search for the one with the mighty scissors. My mom's friend actually recommended me here as she herself been going here for about 6 yrs. I hestitated to believe her...She old... she wont know anything. But then I gave it a shot cause my mom was going to take some of her pants in. We come from a generation of short legs... So we have to get everything hemmed. A week later i got my jeans back and it looked original.... AWESOME JOB!!! Since then, I take everything to get shorted and fitted... Ive there about 5 times and I really like their prices, quality and time frame. Also: about the review about them being mean... I found this place and while I agree they are not the warmest people on earth, they did a great job altering my jacket (no button issues) and jeans(original hem) for LOTS less than Matucci's. I've been trying to find a good tailor in South Bay for quite some time and I've found it here at Best Tailor. I've taken designer suits and jeans in there for alteration and they have come out beautifully. MY EXPERIENCE: Specifically, I've had sleeves shortened on a designer suit I bought on sale. The hem of the sleeves had detail work on it so I wasn't sure how he was going to pull this one off. He ended up doing a flawless job. I'm not even sure how he did it, but it shortened it up from the inseam at the shoulder to keep the integrity of the design at the sleeves. The final result was perfection: no puckering. He also hemmed the suit pants. Again, flawless work. He's also done original hemming on my designer J Brand jeans. The hem of the jeans flared. Again, I wasn't sure how he pulled it off but the end result looked EXACTLY like the product I bought, only shortened to my height. Since then, I've brought designer dresses, suits, my husband's blazer and we've been extremely pleased. ABOUT THE BUSINESS: The business is run by a cute older Korean couple. The man does most of the alterations. I like the fact that he is the one measuring you with the garment AND he is the one doing the tailoring. This ensures no mistakes. This helps also since he is not fluent in English but it almost doesn't matter b/c he knows enough to understand exactly what you want. In my past experiences, I've been to Mattucci down the street. My main frustration there was the person measuring you was NOT the person who did the alteration. That has resulted in pants that came out one leg too long and dresses that needed another alteration to tighten it. After it went on one too many times, I decided to take my business elsewhere. Yes, they do offer to re-do it for free but it was a huge pain to come back and get the item. Mattucci advertises it as a "family business" but he just hires cheap labor to get everything done for him. Best Tailor is truly a family run business....the cost is higher than dry cleaning but it's worth it to bring your expensive items in here for quality work. For simple re-hemming of a skirt or pants, I recommend you go to Flair Cleaners on artesia and bring the tailoring coupon to save some money. read more

My fave tailor by far. This family run business is small, the language is a little bit of a challenge but they always understand what I want. I had 2 of my "wedding dresses" done here (I changed throughout my wedding cos why not!) and they were done perfectly. The name says it all - it would be easy to pass this place without a second look - it's a small shop wedged in between other shops and looks a little disshevled when you walk in, but this Asian couple are absolute pros. And what better than to support a mom and pop instead of the mainstream tailor. I brought my wedding dress for alterations. I did all my research, and found this was the best pricing and reviews. I couldn't have been more disappointed. They actually have great parking in the back, big a huge language barrier, no attention to detail and they tried to convince me not to do certain things to my dress that I knew I wanted. They left spots on my dress, left unfinished seems, pulled on the satin and left strings hanging out and didn't sew up the inside after "fixing" the hips. The whole wedding dress process was stressful to begin with but it just got worse after going here. They may have great reviews for everything else, but don't bring your wedding dress here. I ended up at Joseph Mattucci's and they fixed everything and in less than 2 days. After leaving their shop, I felt more confident in my dress than I had when I first bought it. read more

Had to take a brand new pair of pants back 4 times because they nearly ruined them, then they didn't properly hem a dress that they over-charged me for; when I showed them the trippable length of the dress they had the gall to start yelling at ME about it!!! Ok, I have brought many things here for the past few years, probably have spent over 1K in alterations. The gentleman always seemed to be competent and the prices reasonable. Well, until this last experience. I found a great deal on an Iro sequin jacket which I had planned to wear for the upcoming holidays but whose sleeves were too long. Typical visit, he measured and I asked for the extra material to be returned to me. Returned a week later for the pickup, found he clearly took too much out of the shoulder and it was pretty bad. 'No problem' he said, 'come back tomorrow'. I return the next day, it's slightly better but still way too tight. He continues to insist it's no problem, that's the way it was when I brought it in. Ummm, no, I explained to him, there was plenty of room in the shoulder area when I dropped it off. And where is the extra material' I ask? I'm now thinking I need to take it somewhere else with the removed material to have it redone. He takes a look around then GOES OUT TO THE DUMPSTER TO FETCH IT OUT! What?! I said, if it's in the dumpster, then I don't want it. He then says the trash has been picked up and the material is not in there. Still charges me the alteration fee. Now I am also out the cost of the jacket since I cannot fit my shoulder in and the remnant has been tossed. I asked him to purchase the jacket from me and he is moving me toward the door. Despite my repeated attempts to have him consider this, he is waving his hands and saying 'no problem'. I can't even bring to express what a horrible experience this was, basically not standing behind his poor work and charging me for it. In addition when the wife is there, she is never doing doing any tailoring, just sleeping but jumps up when I come in and tries to drive up his quoted price for alterations. So for those of you that have not yet had a similar experience, I suspect it's a matter of time before you also have an expensive item ruined. read more

Best Tailor is true to its name. I take all my suits there. The man knows how a suit should fit, and he make no mistake about cutting it up while your there to make it right. He won't let you take it unless it's perfect and pays attention to every detail. The lapel laying flat, the difference in your arm length, the shoulders wrapping right, and he always makes sure any detail on the bottom of your sleeve stays there. Highly recommended! read more

My husband took his shirt here to get the sleeves shortened for our wedding. Not only were they rude here (at first refusing to shorten the sleeves because they thought they were the right length), they were late in having his shirt ready, even though he told them we need it for a wedding (and we took it in over a week before we needed it). When we got the shirt back we found that we had paid 25 dollars to have nothing done. The sleeves were the exact same length. We will never go back here again. read more

Wow!!! Took the advise of a fellow Yelper. Amazing job indeed and the prices are great. This man is a professional TAILOR. I actually was a regular at another place in the neighborhood. I went to check on the prices cause I was gettting a burger at the joint next door. I had a pair of jeans that were too long in the car, just went in for a quote. WOW!!! I have been over paying at the other place. So i let the man do his job. Came back the other day, I thought he didnt do a thing, but he actually did, He even made the hem look distrssed like how i purchased. I dont know what its called,but you get the idea. Found my new tailor. YAY!!!! Last time i went to him to get my suite fitted better, other place did a crappy job. I got my pant slim fitted and my sleeves cut the same length. Came back to a awesome suit for the wedding. Only bad thing is that i get a burger and fries every time i come here at the other joint, cant afford to get more weight. LOL read more
