SO, we had a wedding party, and my wife and I needed alterations for whatever we were going to wear. Oh, and it was OUR postponed wedding party due to covid. She had a simple white dress above the knee, that needed to be shortened, and my tux pants needed to be taken in bec they were a tad big at my waist. Simple stuff ok? First, It was crazy expensive. My guy that I go to usually was not available and he would've charged me a quarter of what they charged, but we were on a time crunch and were like whatever. Now for the most important part. They Shortened my wife's dress, without shortening the liner underneath. They did not take in my pants at the waist as much as we measured when I came in and tried it in front of them. My pants looked sagging in every photo. Like how bad at the simplest jobs can you be to do that. It was horrible. Never again. I highly recommend that you avoid this place. read more

I have come here a couple times now and both times the quality of the work has been good and people at the shop has been friendly. Both times I've gotten my clothes back within a reasonable amount of time and always on time. However I'm shaving off a star because I'm actually quite annoyed. I had a bridesmaid dress that I came in with wearing the exact same heels I would wear to the wedding. I told the tailor exactly where I wanted the legth and she convinced me to hem it longer than I wanted. We went back-and-forth and I said the dress will be dragging and she assured me that she knew best, and to not hem the dress any higher. Again I was wearing the exact shoes I wore to the wedding. Well guess what, $50 later I was still TRIPPING all the way down the aisle, during the wedding ceremony and the whole reception. Wonderful. read more

I went here with the dress for my son's wedding based on the recommendation of several friends. Unfortunately I had a bad experience. The dress was supposed to be taken up an inch at the shoulder and at the hem. She pins with safety pins instead of straight pins and marking chalk like every other tailor I have been to. When I returned one shoulder was taken up so much the armhole was way too tight and it pulled the dress unevenly, exposing the under part of the pattern. The bottom hem had not been done (could tell by the safety pins) and was now uneven. She tried to tell me it was uneven when I brought it in. She assured me it could be fixed. When I came back a few days later she had topstitched over the armholes and front of the dress, I guess it was the only way to fix it. It is wearable but not the dress I brought in. I would think twice about bringing something for a special occasion here. read more

I am sorry this review is a couple months late. 5 stars isn't even enough to say how amazing Nhu is!! She saved my wedding. My original dressmaker disappeared with my dress and my deposit, so I had to quickly order a dress online. Nhu completely rebuilt the top half of my dress which was too big, shortened it, took in the sides all the way through, and made me a veil. All of this was done in less than 10 days!!! She has such an amazing and creative eye as well. She gives honest and thoughtful advice. I cannot begin to thank her enough. Love this place. They're awesome: high quality, fast, and reasonably priced. I've done everything from minor repairs to more complicated things, including shortening sleeves on a dress shirt (involving moving the cuff and re-cutting the gauntlet opening and placket) and major alterations to some pants after having lost 30 lbs. Nhu is very personable, listens attentively to what you need and/or the look you're trying to achieve, and gives great advice and various options if/when needed -- she's great! In the midst of Covid-19 craziness, the store is not open regular hours (as of this review), but if you call them, Nhu will set an appointment to see you. read more

My daughter needed black pants for her school organization pictures and, per our regular routine, we waited til the weekend before the Monday of the photos. She is lucky enough to be blessed with short legs like her mom, but we found a pair of pants that fit the rest of her beautifully! The pants were bootcut, so rather than just roll them up to create bell-bottoms in a strange dimension, we opted for Tailoring. I immediately yelped where I'd be that afternoon to find the tailor closest to where I'd be. Ironically this wasn't the first one on the list I planned to try, but I did set my eyes on them first and went back to them since the first one's weren't as easily convenient (with parking and all) to our tightly coordinated fit of the day between birthday parties, science workshop and homecoming dance for her brother. It's a tiny non-descript building on the outside but it opens up inside to a colorful, very well-organized shop. My daughter threw on the pants in the dressing room and hopped up on the elevated stand and the gal quickly marked her pants and told her to remove them as she rang me up. Originally they were going to give me the pants back in a few days, but when I requested same day service and said it's fine for them to mark it up, it was only a 20% mark up. Cost to hem pants $10 + $2 rush fee (minus frazzled mom trying to spend the time to do this and have it look good) = TOTALLY WORTH IT!!! We got the pants back that afternoon and the hem is even and clean. Great job! I did mention in my tip for the location that they also sew on Scout badges/patches. We'll definitely return for future tailoring needs - even though they're not in our regular path. Worth the drive! read more

So maybe I get what I expect - uneven work at high prices? + 1 Star - Convenient to my house. Yup, that's a big reason I come here and can't be bothered finding anyone else. + 1 Star - Open Sat. I cannot believe how hard it is to find a tailor open on weekends at least a little bit. They are open here Sat 9-5p!!! Of course M-F 9-6 - 1 Star - Not cheap. Two bra straps shortened (the back part) for $12 EACH???? For $24 I could have bought a new bra, darn it. I have had pants hemmed for $15, which is not a bargain either. - 1 Star - Uneven work. Sometimes the work is done well, and sometimes not. I guess it depends who is doing it. If it's a delicate job, I have to admit I would not bring something here (bridal dress, gown, etc). A co-worker recommended this place so I thought I would give it a try. I brought in my jumpsuit that needed hemming and also the heels that I would be wearing with it. I specifically requested that the length was not too long and that it was not touching the floor while wearing my heels (since I would be wearing to an event with my kids and I didn't want to get my heel caught in the hem while chasing them around). I also asked if they could press it for me, which the girl kindly replied that they do not press any clothing. This bothered me a bit since my outfit had wrinkles in it and I wasn't sure if that would affect the hemming. The pant hem turned out looking great, however, the pants touched the floor, but since I didn't try it on until the morning of the event, I didn't have time to take back to have it fixed. And, it was $20 which I thought was a bit pricy. Overall, the outfit looked fine and the length was just a minor issue. I would give them another chance since they are local small business, the staff was friendly and it's on the way home from work so convenience is always a plus. read more

I was in a major bind with buying a dress for a black tie wedding 2 days before the wedding. I found a dress but it needed some very minor repairs that my usual tailor wasn't available to do. I luckily found Manhattan Express Tailor. Not only were they able to take my dress right away but they finished it within 2 hours. Same thing happened to me with my bridesmaid dress. I was sooo upset and instead of fixing it, she said the dress was ugly. The dress so was a simple brown strapless a-line dress. We came here on a recommendation, and the plus is that it's just down the street from us. The first time around, hubby got his new suit pants hemmed. They did a great job, so we brought two pairs of jeans in a few weeks later. They always get the work done in a few days, and their work is impeccable. I'm not really sure whether or not they're priced right, but $24 to get two pairs of jeans hemmed doesn't seem that unreasonable to me. Recently my friend had a major garment emergency having flown in from Australia to be a bridesmaid in a wedding that was happening the following day. There is a special relationship that one has with their tailor, it's a special bond because it's their talent that makes us look good. The tailor not only has to understand their clients body type so they can make sure that the clothes fit as it should and they also have to understand what the original designer had in mind and keep that integrity. So understandably not many people change tailors on a whim. But the flip side is like everything in life nothing lasts. Tailors too have to retire someday and this is the case here. Mrs. Yang retired and apparently sold the business, which makes me feel very sad for me, but happy for her. She has worked hard and deserve to live her golden years unencumbered with our petty problems of this is too long or that is too short.... So going on a kind of faith with the new owners, I took in some pants to test their skills and sadly it's a no go. Sloppy and shoddy work is what I got back, crocked lines on the hem and the thread was not tied off so I had to finish it off myself. In other words, off I go in search for another tailor... read more
