I brought a pair of pants I had only worn twice and the zipper had caught the tape and wouldn't zip up anymore. I spent a lot on these pants and don't feel that skilled in my sewing abilities, so I went to Yelp and found Susan's. I came in on a Tuesday and Susan assessed the zipper replacement and quoted $20. There was no rush for my repair so she said she could have it ready by Saturday. I was so pleased to see how nicely the new zipper was sewn in and for a very reasonable price! Thank you! Next time you need to shorten your pants, I highly recommend Susan. I'm used to having to wait a week for hemmed pants, but she was able to get a half dozen pairs of pants back to me in only a few days (dropped off Saturday afternoon, picked up Tuesday evening). I'm always in search of a knowledgeable, skillful, , reliable, reasonably priced tailor. They're also VERY fast! Usually less than 1 week. I've been coming here for years for pant hems & cuffs. I've had jacket & coat cuffs hemmed here very nicely. I've also had nice long sleeve shirts altered and hemmed into "business casual" short sleeve shirts. I have my new suits altered here. They are excellent for simple alterations (pant hems, jacket cuffs) which are done very well. * More complex alteration tailoring like taking in the suit jacket back & waist can be a little inconsistent. Some suit jackets were altered exceptionally well! They came back and looked bespoke and tailor made for me. Yet, other suit jackets were not tailored quite as well as expected (from exact same designer) & somehow they just couldn't seem to repeat the same alterations and get it right. - Seemed a little odd to me. I recently altered a bridesmaid dress and a blazer here. The bridesmaid dress was a very complicated alteration and the first tailor I went to before here actually told me she couldn't fix it! So I was pleasantly surprised when the Korean lady here told me she can do it with no issues! She even got it pressed and got all the wrinkles out. I've gone here for several things and they have always done a great job! Even with a difficult job of mending there elastic ribbing around the wrist of a favorite sweatshirt. DO NOT GO HERE. They LOST the straps to my maid of honor dress. They offered no apologies. No compensation. She tired to make new straps for the dress, but they are sloppy. On top of this, the alterations are poorly done. They also do not speak English, which I have nothing against, but it made it very hard to communicate and figure out what was going on. Came to this business on my husband's recommendation. Have referred people to this business. That all ended this past weekend. I had a formal dress hemmed by Susan's Alterations. Brought it home and kept it in plastic until the event (wedding) date. Put the dress on came downstairs and saw stray threads at the hem, upon closer observation, saw that the dress was slashed diagonally about 18-24 inches right above the hem. I took photos and sent them to the owner. She said to come in, which I couldn't as we were going to the wedding within the next 5 minutes. I taped up the slashed dress as best I could and went to the wedding, texting the owner on the way. She asked that I bring the dress in. I told her it wouldn't be until Monday. She said after 4:00. Took my dress in, took my store receipt for the dress and asked her to reimburse me for the dress and the alteration. The owner stated that no way did the dress leave her business like that...she ended up giving me 2/3 of what I asked for, I basically paid her for ruining my dress. Upon further inspection once I got home, I noticed that someone tried to repair the slash in the dress. I am so disgusted I am shaking with anger. Remember folks, always look at your alterations before you leave the shop. i hope no one else has this happen to them. Essentially I paid her to ruin my dress. read more

Why they gave my pants to Someone else when I picked them up they were short . They had a name in them. My we're desiigner brand and they gave them to someone else. She still assisted those were my pants. Do not go there horrible business. they cannot keep the customers close together. I have visited this shop on multiple occasions and have had clothing altered. This last visit, I took a pair of pants to get hemmed and a small taper. When writing my ticket, she told me the total was $35. I told her that was more than I had paid in the past,l for the exact same request. The lady helping them called the owner and was discussing the price and scope of work. I told her that I'd take it elsewhere, which I did, and another place charged me $16. Less than half the price of Susan's Alteration for the same exact work! Needless to say, this problem could be solved if they would simply post their prices instead of subjectively charging different prices at different times. read more

This is a a mom-and-pop alteration shop and I always see this one sweet Asian lady who runs this place. For hemming, it is $15 for each shirt & sweater and $6 for each jean. It was a really quick walk-in experience (like 15 minutes) - I came in, changed my clothes, answered whether I was satisfied with the newly proposed length, handed my shirts and jeans to her, and got a receipt. Most of time she can finish the job in one or two working days. I would recommend this place if you are looking for general and not overly complicated hemming. Been a customer here several times and I like Mimi (younger lady). The Sign on front says $5.99 for jean hemming but she usually charges $10-12 per jean. I don't mind, it's still a fair price. Today I brought 3 jeans but Mimi was at the back. Susan (the older korean lady, who had charged me higher than Mimi on a previous hemming job)) charged me $75.00 for the 3 even though 2 just needed to be cut ragged just like the original. It's double the cost of the three denim combined. Oh well, she lost a customer. Update: went to the Levi's Store at Del Amo Mall and I only paid $40 for the three. I could tell that the Levi's person knew what she was doing when she accepted the jeans. read more

Went to Susan's based on the great reviews to get my pants tailored. I was standing in line with two people behind me. When it was my turn to go up I politely asked if I could have my pants expedited as I needed them back quickly for work. I said something to the effect of "is it possible that I could pay extra for my pants to be expedited?" I did not specify an exact date in my initial question because I figured if things could be expedited the response from the person would be something like "yes, when do you need them by?" However in reality The front desk lady responded in a very nasty tone "When do you need your pants?? When???! When!? See all these people behind you??" Needless to say I (as well as the two people behind me) were a little taken aback by this attendants tone, demeanor and being plain mean. I did not get her name as I nearly walked out right then and there but suffice it to say if you do go here and run into this particular lady try to be quick, precise and detailed with your request. She was an older lady with short blonde hair. No time for pleasantries and politeness at Susan's if there is any type of line whatsoever IF you get this particular older lady. On the positive side when I picked up my pants the lady working at that time was a different person and she was polite, my pants were hemmed properly and on the date and time we agreed upon. read more

I needed a quick hemming job for my medical scrub pants. I paid $8 each which I thought was a fair price. Picked it up 2 days after. I'm pretty you can ask her to do it quicker but I wasn't really in too much rush. It was the perfect length and transaction was smooth. She also did some major alteration for my husband's uniform (short sleeve dress shirt). They shortened the sleeves, made it tighter and brought the chest pockets higher and trimmed the length.
