    Fish katsu

I like this Kimganae location better than the food court one at HMart. We were looking for a quick bite to eat after going to Macy's and I forgot that this location was still here. So glad we stopped by. We came for an early lunch and there were plenty of tables available. The restaurant is very warm given anytime that door opens, gusts of cold air comes in. Ordered a few things, mostly with our eyes as we wanted to try everything fresh on the spot. Several kimbaps later and two katsu plates, we were stuffed. The spicy tuna kimbap, tuna kimbap and pork cutlet kimbap were just divine. Giant portion with lots of filling and so good. We really enjoyed this. The curry katsu was good but not my favorite. The fish katsu was killer. Giant, large pieces of fish delicately coated with a light fry. SO GOOD. I do wish we asked for the tartar sauce on the side because the fish was great as is. Love that the katsu platter come with rice and a slaw salad. Great dining experience, fast service and a good meal at a good price.

I really solid spot to eat Korean food for a reasonable price. The service is always great. The environment is always friendly, spacious, and clean.

Lots of rice, thin layer of filling. They used to put more.

I always order their onigiris but for a while i have noticed that the amount they put for filling is declining... it used to be very proportionate but now its a thin layer of tuna filling, thick layers of rice.. for $7 on uber eats please add more tuna.

Pros: - service is usually quick unless they're very busy - my go to is usually their spicy tuna roll, this is my number one place to go to for the spicy tuna roll, hasn't disappointed me in over the 10 years I've been buying from them Cons: - they have raised the price over the years, but what place hasn't Comments: - went on a Friday around 4/4:30PM, wasn't too busy - I got take out - I frequented here a lot back in high school and when I was back in the city for college, the other dishes are pretty decent too - they usually have k-pop playing at a decent volume and it has a pretty chill and casual vibe

Kimganae serves casual Korean comfort food at comfortable prices, and crowd-pleasing portions especially for their donburi bowls (various cooked meats, veg with sauce over rice). The menu features handrolls (essentially same idea as onigiri - rice and fillings wrapped in seaweed), mandoo (Korean dumplings), noodle soups (ramyun and udon options), and rice plates/bowls. If you enjoy Korean and Asian food, you'll probably find a satisfying dish here. This review is for their kimbap, which I ordered for delivery: K2. 야채 김밥 VegetableRoll 鲜蔬紫菜卷饭 $7.50 rice, seaweed, salt, sesame oil, egg, sweet radish, carrot and spinach. Pretty standard, I think comparable to the kimbap at Hmart. K3. 소세지 김밥 Sausage Roll 香肠紫菜卷饭 $8.00 rice, seaweed, salt, sesame oil, sausage, egg, sweet radish, carrot and spinach. More like hotdog rather than traditional sausage. Ok, same flavors as the vegetable roll. KG. 김치 김밥 KIMCHI ROLL 泡菜紫菜卷饭 $9.00 rice, seaweed, salt, sesame oil, kimchi, sausage, egg, carrot. Probably the best one of the three, the tinge of sour/spicy added a more interesting flavor here. Overall not bad, the kimbap is ok for a basic meal if you're in the area. I would like to try some other items and other kimbap flavors. Hoping that may change my opinion depending on how it goes. Will report back!

    Kimgane Pork Cutlet Lunch Special

Stopped in for lunch, and it was packed. Had to wait 15 minutes for a table. Host was very accommodating taking my order before I was seated and keeping me updated regarding wait time. I ordered the #1 lunch special which is the Kimganae Donkatsu. It is a fried pork cutlet with cabbage, rice and corn. Also, ordered the beef gimbap. There is a variety of other food options such as ramen, udon, rice, etc. The donkatsu was quickly prepared and cooked nicely. Fried with sauce, and the cabbage and corn was a nice added touch. The portion is generous too considering it's lunch special. Beef gimbap is also marinated with flavorful taste. Would recommend for quick, easy filling meal.

Came here on a hot Saturday summer day and got the cold noodles. Absolutely hit the spot and it was just what I needed. Came around 11:30 and did not need to wait for a table of four, keep in mind that this is walk-in only. The cold noodles came with a very large portion, and the broth was very fresh. I do wish there was an option to add me, though. I did not see it on the menu. Overall, I would be back and you definitely get your moneys worth!

Ambiance: 5/5 A very cute and clean space, perfect for a quick lunch. Service: 5/5 Everyone is super attentive and food gets delivered promptly. Food: 5/5 We got the Kimganae kimbap and the seasonal cold noodles. Both were fresh and delicious!! The kkakdugi (radish kimchi) and small soup that came with our meal were very tasty too. We would definitely come back in the future to try other menu items.

Kimganae is a great place if you're looking for a quick and easy Korean meal. Ambiance: 5/5 The ambiance is good. The bathrooms are clean. The seating is comfortable. I can tell this place is pretty popular because the tables are mostly filled and people are getting takeout. Service: 5/5 The service is quick too. The food comes so fast. Btw---it's 8% off with cash! Food: 4/5 The actual food is pretty good too! I got the sweet potato cutlet. I LOVED the sweet potato mash on top. It was sweet and paired well with the savory cutlet. It's also a great price. I've tried the kimbaps before but I would recommend you get their cutlets instead.

At Kimganae in Flushing, I tried the squid kimbab and a spam & egg triangular roll. The squid kimbab was fresh and well-balanced, with tender squid and nicely seasoned rice wrapped in crisp seaweed. The triangular roll had that classic comfort-food vibe -- salty spam, soft egg, and warm rice -- simple but really satisfying. What's great about Kimganae is the variety on their menu. They have all the kimbab classics (tuna, bulgogi, kimchi, squid, and more), along with triangle rolls, tteokbokki, ramen, and other Korean comfort foods. It's the kind of place where you can grab a quick snack or mix and match a few items for a light meal. The shop itself is casual and no-frills, more about efficiency and good food than atmosphere. Prices are fair, and everything comes out quickly, which makes it perfect if you're in Flushing and just want a tasty, fast bite.

Good spot for fast Korean food. My partner and I were born to walk in and be seated quickly in a Saturday night, and the restaurant was pretty full. Everything is priced fairly, with large portion sizes. We ordered the ramyun tteokbokki and the seafood udon soup. It's not the best seafood udon soup that I've had (and definitely not like the spicy a seafood stew that I thought it maybe would be). It was still good, though the soup broth had a smoky taste that I am undecided on. The tteokbokki had a nice texture and was quite flavorful, though it is a bit sweet. Efficient and friendly service here, clean inside.

This stall is located outside the Hmart registers. There is plenty of seating in the area. The stall just opened when I went up. I must have looked like I was having a hard time reading the menu board. The lady behind the counter kindly handed me a menu. After some deliberation I decided on the bulgogi kimbap. After paying I sat at a table to wait. In less than 10 minutes my number was called. It didn't look very big but it was very filling. There were some preserved vegetables, herbs, egg, mushrooms, and lots of bulgogi. It was very fragrant. I wasn't sure what inside gave it a unique floral flavor. My daughter tried it but didn't like the mushrooms. My problem with it was something in the filling was very coarse and scratched my throat. Overall not bad but it wasn't my favorite

Fish cutlet for $15, big portion!

"Fresh delicious honest" and "high quality casual Korean fusion food" are some text you'll find on the walls and boy are they accurate. Never been disappointed by the portions or quality of food and staff are friendly! The prices are incredible even in 2024; $14 or so for a big cutlet dish with rice and cabbage and you get some broth and kimchi radish with your meal. Portions are generous but also balanced, you'll notice my rice portion wasn't too heavy handed so that will be helpful if you're being mindful of carbs (delicious delicious carbs). My fried fish cutlet came out nice and hot and really really crispy Definitely recommend coming to visit if you're interested in something yummy and cheap!

    Ask the Community - Kimganae

What is the Ramyun broth made from? Beef or Pork base?

I am not certain of their particular recipe, but generally ramyun's stock base is made up of pork or chicken with a variety of other ingredients. If you are vegetarian, I suggest calling and ask if they offer vegan options.

Can they make the bibimbap not spicy?

You could ask them to not make it spicy for you. Or ask for the spicy sauce on the side so you could adjust the spicyness to your liking

The menu is also very cute and I'm guessing handmade. It was pretty detailed and we appreciated learning about each dish before deciding what to order. We ended up ordering the Kimchi Pancake with seafood, the spicy bulkoki udon and the jeyuk udon. The kimchi seafood pancake was super crispy and filled with squid and shrimp! It also came with a semi sweet dipping sauce that paired nicely. Both udons came out piping hot and fresh! Udon had a nice chew to it, was loaded with vegetables as well as meat for each dish. The egg was fried and did not have a runny yolk. For sides, they gave us 4 things- a tomato salad, kimchi cucumbers, braised string beans, and bean sprouts. The tomato salad came in this cute apple shaped dish but neither of us really cared for it- this is completely biased though since we're not really fans of tomato. What we really did love was the kimchi cucumbers! Also at the end, they served us 3 pieces of cantaloupe which were very sweet. Overall, yummy food, cute shop, and friendly/nice staff! I felt bad for our waitress she was so busy with fulfilling takeouts + dine ins and the dishes require a lot of servicing table side. She couldn't catch 1 second of break :( Food wise, we got their 2 person combo of spicy pork gamja tang and spicy rice cake which came with the steamed egg. Everything was so good, egg was extra fluffy, rice cake was delicious and the meat came right off the bones. They take a good variety of side dishes. My partner wasn't a fan of the gamja tang but due to feeling it's a hassle to eat meat with bones, so those who fee sim may agree. We also asked for the fried rice after we finished the gamja tang, for 2 servings I think it was $4.75 or something. I really enjoyed it but I guess I like scorched rice, also something my partner doesn't enjoy so those we feel sim just note. Environment feels very old school, well worn. Feels cozy. It can get loud very quickly on a Saturday night as this place seems to be a hit for large parties. Since the wait staff is short handed, expect a bit of a wait for things. The inside is casual,…read moreand our waitress, Jane, was extremely friendly and helpful from refilling banchan to cooking meats and otherwise. A couple of us shared a $13 bottle of the green grape flavor of Chum Churum, a soju. In terms of banchan, there was a bunch. Everyone got a cold and refreshing cabbage soup as well as a very tasty version of Braised Tofu/Dubu-jorim/두부조림. Once we ordered, we also got a bunch of other banchan, including cabbage, radish, and cucumber Kimchi, broccoli and cauliflower Namul, Marinated Mushrooms/Beoseot Bokkeum/버섯볶음, Anchovies With Peanuts/Myeolchi Bokkeum/멸치볶음, and Potato/Gamja Salad/감자샐러드. One of the other things brought out was a pretty tasty version of Raw Soy Sauce Marinated Crab/Ganjang-Gejang/간장게장. Most of these were refillable. The first actual thing that arrived was something that I can't eat, the $22.99 Seafood Pancake/Haemul Pajeon/해물파전. I have a cephalopod allergy, or in other words, anything with tentacles, so I avoid squid and octopus, and seafood pancakes always contain one of those two. Everyone else enjoyed it, though. The pajeon I could eat was the Kimchi Jeon/김치전 for a dollar less. It was pretty tasty, though I prefer other spots that had a bit more of a crisp. Next was one of their signatures, the grilled duck. Going from online reviews, we went with the non-spicy version, as people prefer it, as the spicier marinade overpowers the duck. This was the $29.99 Sang Ori Gui/생오리구이. The sliced duck was on a hot, sizzling plate, with there also being a lot of grilled onions and scallions. The duck had a mix of pieces, ranging from fatty to less so, and had a nice mix of textures. This was easily one of my favorites, though I liked it even more when paired with the ssamjang that arrived with the BBQ, as the sauce balanced the light fattiness. Arriving at a similar time was the last thing I couldn't eat, the Spicy Stir-Fried Baby Octopus on Iron Plate/Jjukkumi Cheolpan Bokkeu/철판쭈꾸비볶음, for $30.99. I couldn't try the octopus, but the portion was plentiful, and I had a bit of the noodles on the bottom after making sure there were no tentacles, as well as trying the sauce. The sauce was tasty, spicy, and very flavorful. We went with two of the Korean BBQ meats, one beef and one pork. My preference of the two was surprisingly the $49.99 Charcoal Grilled Marinated Beef Ribs/Yangnyeom Galbi/양념갈비. This also came with two veggies: kabocha squash and asparagus. The beef was extremely tender, had the perfect mix of fat and meat, and had only a light sweetness from the marinade. This was absolutely delicious and very much worth the price point. Also tasty was the Grilled Pork Belly/Samgyeopsal/삼겹살, for $36.95. This also came with a few things, including cabbage and a large mushroom. The pork belly was delicious, being just fatty enough and very tender as well, with a mild chew. The BBQ came with a few extra side dishes. This included a tasty steamed egg/Gyeran-jjim/계란찜, greens, an onion salad, ssamjang, salt, and a small boiling pot of soybean stew/doenjang jjigae. They were all tasty, though nothing particularly notable outside of the portions being generous. Also, at the end of the meal, they gave us some sujeonggwa. Not much for me to complain about this place. The food was very tasty overall, and the service was wonderful. I would go back and order a full beef BBQ set.
