    Tuna kimbap

I came here on a weekday evening, and it wasn't too busy or loud. They were playing some well-known Korean OSTs on the TV that brought me down memory lane. Good vibessss. Plenty of parking available. The jjampong broth had the perfect amount of spice, and it didn't feel or taste oily at all. The noodles had a soft consistency, and they were generous with the seafood toppings- there was a bunch of squid throughout the bowl. The tangsuyuk was okay. I prefer it to be crispier. At first I was concerned because the meat was on the pinker side, but they explained it has the best texture when cooked to this temperature. It was chewy but really nothing too special about the texture. Sauce was nice and sweet! If you want bibimbap, I recommend getting it in the stone pot, as it keeps your meal extra hot, and the rice on the bottom/sides will turn super crispy, which is my favorite part. I do think the bibimbap could have had more flavor, so adding some sesame oil and gochujang sauce would definitely enhance the dish. It is a very hearty meal regardless, as it is loaded with an abundance of vegetables and meat. The owner was super kind and gave us a tray of tuna kimbap to try. Tuna was a great filling; it's creamy and rich. So simple yet so delicious. The kimbap tastes good on its own, but I paired it with some kimchi, and it slapped. I walked out of the restaurant STUFFED and SATISFIED. Would recommend this place to anyone who is wanting Korean cuisine. The employees are super friendly and attentive to their customers.

I liked the tuna kimpbap ($7.99) as it had a good amount of mayo and the tuna-mayo looked creamy. There was a selection of different kimbaps (beef, cheese, vegetables, spicy beef, cooked spicy tuna) on the counter. The jajangmyeon ($14.99) was steaming hot when I mixed it. It wasn't as salty as other restaurants and came in a pretty big portion. The texture of the noodle was more like conventional pasta (spaghetti). The Tangsuyuk (fried pork with sweet and sour sauce) ($17.99) had a chewy batter (from the starch). It was more of a sour than sweet sauce in comparison to what you would expect at a Chinese restaurant and congealed more heavily than expected while we were eating. The dishes came with small dishes of sliced yellow pickled radishes. Chopped pieces of carrots, bell peppers, and onions were mixed in with the pork. You choose your own bowls, plates, takeaway chopsticks, other metal utensils, and water cups for dispenser near the register. One screen plays OST MVs, while another shows mostly Korean food stall cooking and maybe other things like wood cutting. There is a female and male restroom.

HOUSTON, TX 77084 / KOREAN / 04-24-23 / DINNER +Traditional Korean dishes with a nice presentation. +The little ones really enjoyed the handmade beef mandoo (Korean dumplings). +The hot stone (dolsot) mixed rice bowl (bibimbap) was pretty good. I love the crisped rice that forms on the bottom! +The chef in the back is a master of the flame and wok. +The homemade kimchi was delicious. +The restaurant interior was fairly clean. The self-serve dishes and utensils were spotless, which was a plus. -The dolsot bibimbap had very little meat. -They forgot to give the red pepper paste (chojang) for the dolsot bibimbap. -No side dishes, except for a tiny plate of kimchi and yellow pickled radish (noran moo). If you need a quick fix of Korean food near the Katy area, this is as good as it gets. Go check them out and give them some Yelp love! What we ordered: 1 Tuna Kimbap (Korean hand roll) $6.95 1 Bulgogi Plate (beef stir fry with rice and two sides) $14.99 1 Dolsot Bibimbap (mixed rice with vegetables and spicy bulgogi in hot stone) $15.99 1 Beef Mandoo (6 pieces of Korean dumplings) $9.99

We had dinner here tonight. The setting is very casual but clean. We had: Fried Kimchi Dumplings - 4/5 - I really liked the flavor of the dumplings. A couple of knocks. One of the dumplings was still a bit cold on the inside (most places that handmake the dumplings make a lot beforehand and freeze them; maybe one just not heated enough, seemed to isolated issue with one out of six). Sweet & Spicy Cold Noodles w/ Vegetables - 4/5 - Very traditional flavors. The noodles had a nice al dente character as it should. Maybe a bit too spicy (but not as "over" spicy as the next dish). Champong (Spicy Noodle Soup) - 4.5/5 - I love champong and they do a really good job here with the flavors. Only reason I didn't give it a 5 is that it was too spicy. I love spicy food but thought this was over the top. Chajangmyun (Noodles w/ black bean sauce) - 4/5 - Good but not great. The sauce was a bit superficial. The really good sauces have more depth and maybe more flavors of meat. Overall, the food was good. I do think they need to tone down the spice in general. I would have no problems going back but if I specifically want champong, I would prefer Paik's Noodle. If the others in the group wanted more variety in the cuisine offerings, we would go here.

This place is sort of a hidden gem given the area. I don't hear anyone talk about it and I happened to discover it on Yelp. The gimbap here is the standout dish. They serve lots of different kinds of fresh gimbap. I got to try the tuna gimbap and thought it was delicious. It was rolled well and had lots of different delicious fillings. I tried the tonkatsu as well and thought it was alright. It came with an interesting savory sauce on the side. I thought it could use more vegetables to balance with the dry, crispy cutlet. Good place to come to for lunch if you want a quick bite or if you just want to pick up gimbap to bring back to work or home.

A small restaurant hidden behind a strip mall serving delicious Korean food. Staff greeted me warmly once I stepped into the restaurant. I had the K-dumplings, kimchi-jjigae, stone pot spicy pork bibimbap, and bulgogi gimbap. The k-dumplings were pre-packaged frozen dumplings. I was expecting homemade dumplings like the one I ate in South Korea. Despite the dumplings were served piping hot, and the exterior was crispy and dark, the meat inside wasn't warm. The kimchi-jjigae was spicy, sour, and served extremely hot. There were pieces of firm tofu, some slices of pork, and lots of kimchi in the stew. Super yummy! The restaurant served two kinds of bibimbap. One is in a stone pot while the other is in a regular bowl. I prefer the stone pot version because firstly, the food would remain hot after 20mins. Secondly, I like to scrape the bottom and sides of the pot to get crispy rice. The bibimbap was so so good. All the ingredients were seasoned well, and the pork was tender and spicy. I love it. The bulgogi gimbap was packaged in front of the order station where you can grab-and-go. I absolutely love the gimbap. It was tightly wrapped, and everything was seasoned well. I would go back for the gimbap, jjigae, and stone pot bibimbap.

Our first time trying out this small, cozy restaurant and we were very pleased! Upon walking in, we could tell this was a traditional mom & pop shop and had a feeling the food would be good. We got the donkatsu plate (not on the menu but posted on the window), beef kimbap (made ready at the counter), and kimchi pancake (I customized it with no onions). The katsu pork was cooked to the perfect crisp and the little banchan on the side was yummy - but next time I'd ask for the sauce on the side since it was a little overwhelming. The kimchi pancake was crispy and kimbap did not disappoint either. We'll definitely be back!

The flavors are great. 2) Jaengbanjjajang: This is my go-to and personal favorite noodle dish to get here.
