3. Black Bean Noodles
Thea W.

We got the black bean noodles and it was soo good! The dish came out fast and I love that it came in a re-usable bowl instead of styrofoam!

Combo: jjamppong (seafood soup) and jajangmyeon
Tiffany H.

I can never decide between jajangmyeon and jjamppong, so why not both?! I was surprised by the portion size for the combo option, and both were delicious! The jjamppong had so much seafood, and the black bean noodle is more on the sweet and savory side. The food hits the spot, and I would definitely order from here again!

6. Seafood Soup Noodles

Chef Han specializes in 중화 요리 Korean-Chinese cuisine; A hybrid of Chinese/Korean cuisine developed by ethnic Chinese people in Korea. The most popular dishes are the following: Blackbean noodles (Jajangmyeon), Seafood soup noodles (Jjampong), and Sweet & Sour pork (Tangsuyuk) With that being said Chef Han has the best and I mean the BEST 짬뽕 (Jjampong) Seafood soup noodles in Katy/Houston (imo) Taste identical to the ones I had growing up in Busan. I've tried many restaurant's Jjampong in Houston including Korea's favorite Chef Paik's Noodle house and they're just not as good Chef Han. The Smokey rich broth and their noodles (Which I'm a 100% sure they make themselves) put them at the top of my list of being the best in town. Diet goes out the door when it comes to Chef Han

Don't try the orange chicken (or General Tso's) which is soggy
Thao L.

Convenient enough to order Korean-Chinese cuisine here in Katy. I tried ordering the kkanpunggi (spicy garlic chicken) w/ less spice but the cashier said they couldn't adjust the spice level to it. I ended up ordering orange chicken which is not spicy at all instead along w/ my mom ordering the house special lo mein and Mongolian beef. I liked most of the food we ordered except for the orange chicken which was pretty soggy. The lo mein is good and the Mongolian beef was definitely better than the orange chicken, so next time if I do order from here, the Mongolian beef will be it then.

Ja jang (or jajangmyeon) noodles
Chris H.

Very solid ja jang noodles! Was craving this because one of my favorite YouTubers, Mikey Chen, kept raving and eating it in Korea. I loved the thickness of the sauce and the chewiness of the noodles. I do wish there were more pork bits though. Hahaha I'm such a fatty! I was also overly thirsty afterwards too for a few hours. Must be the msg because the noodles didn't taste salty.

I don't know if people who's been complaining have ever eaten Korean Chinese cuisine but some of these reviews are hilarious; we used to go to North China which was the only option to Korean Chinese cuisine near Katy and they are way more expensive and much smaller in portion. Chef Han's menu has been simple and cheap. We also got food from neighboring venues at the food court and they were more expensive. Although we don't understand the complaints but we had another nice lunch at Chef Hans. Keep up the good work!!

I do not eat food well at the food court because of quality BUT Chef Han is different. I love there food especially jjam pong. I eat jja jang myun instead of jjam pong BUT i love Chef Han jjam pong. It's yammy~ I go there 2-3 times a week to eat jjam pong. They have high quality of food that hard to have at the food court. They make noodle, dumpling not buying. One thing that i also like, Chef's attitude toward food. He made an effort, has pride, experienced. I go there a lot and most of there food is good.

I really liked their Ja Jang noodle. I did not have high hope before I ordered, but when I tried their sauce, I knew the Ja Jang noodle had to be good. Reason for four star is because, when you have noodle and sauce together on first bite, you might think they are like separate food. However, as you keep eating it, taste comes along with it. I will want to try their Ja Jamg rice later and other menu as well.

Jajangmyeun / black bean noodles
Jay K.

Can't go wrong with a decently priced jajangmyeun or jjampong. Taste is great and you don't have to go to a chinese/korean restaurant to get it.

Uncle Chin's Kitchen - Malaysian Curry Chicken

As I dug deeper, I read Jando's glowing review word-for-word and found myself salivating. Well, I ventured out to S. Mason for lunch, found the place easily, appreciated the ample and free parking, and walked in. I had read before that they used to be closed on Tuesdays and Saturdays, but now they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays but open for dinner on Saturdays. (See my photos.) Anyhow, we walked in and found the place homey. Nothing fancy - just a nice, clean, homey Malaysian restaurant. Not too big, and not too small. We placed our order of roti canai, stir fried flat rice noodles, seafood sizzling tofu, and topped it off with a Malaysian milk tea. Oh my - we were satisfied and stuffed as a party of 2. We ended up boxing up almost 40% of the meal. The roti was near perfection - crispy, hot, flaky. The dipping sauce was perfectly seasoned with the right amount of heat. It included chunks of chicken and potato. You must absolutely order this one. I love me some stir fried flat rice noodles so we got that one with chicken. Overall, it was excellent. Portions were a tad smaller than I would like for the price. Also it could use a little bit of hot sauce so we asked for a side of sriracha which they gladly and quickly brought. The sizzling tofu - OMG so good. I can't even explain it. I just love it so much and the portions are huge. I'm not sure what the vegetable flavor would taste like but we tried the seafood one and have no regrets. Lastly the milk tea was just because we felt like splurging and it was also a great decision. The tea flavor itself is deep and the overall drink is very nice. We got it iced. And an honorable mention - we ran into Uncle Chin (at least we assume it was Uncle Chin) and told him his food was amazing. I think he really appreciated it. He seems like a super nice guy and I want his business to do really well. If that wasn't Uncle Chin then we talked to a random person and raved about the food... Many thanks for Jando for the raving review that convinced me to try this place. Loved it and would absolutely come back as soon as possible!

It gives the place a very homey feel. The servers were all super friendly and attentive and the owner was also very kind and checked on us a few times. The food and drinks were all delicious, good portions, and prices were reasonable. Everything came out in a timely manner. The drinks took a little longer, but it wasn't a big deal. We also ordered a noodle dish that I forgot to take a picture of. One thing to note: I wouldn't recommend using the restroom if you can avoid it. My little one really had to go and it wasn't clean at all or well kept which was a bit of a downside especially with a kid. Overall, we had a great experience and I'm glad we finally tried it.

Service was spot on, quick, and we got our food in what felt like maybe a few minutes. We started off with pork dumplings for the kiddo, which he INHALED in moments. For entrees, we split the orange chicken and the Spicy/Numbing Pot. The orange chicken was spot on. The sauce was sweet but not painfully sweet or thick/clumpy. Really nice orange flavor and tender chicken. So much fun eating it since it is gluten free! Our kiddo also devoured this dish! Mild - not spicy at all! The Spicy Numbing Pot, while a little oily/greasy on the bottom, was still delicious! I appreciated that it wasn't knock your socks off spicy - it had a solid kick, and so flavorful. I love eating dishes with Sichuan Pepper; it has a lot of flavor, and the tingling is so much fun. This dish was perfect with some rice, and it wasn't too heavy for the middle of the day. The prices were really reasonable, and there was enough food for leftovers which we ate later that night. Our only regret is not getting the duck appetizer, but we will be sure to get it next time. We can't wait to go back, and Tiger Noodle will happily be in regular rotation for our family! You can't go wrong!

hunan kitchen has been a staple for yearssss, truly my fav restaurant ever and hands down the best…read morechinese food i've had!! the interior has plenty of seating, making it great for both family dinners and group gatherings. the owners are a couple: a super friendly woman and the diligent chef. the service is always attentive and fast and the food comes out SOOO quickly. portions are also huuuge at consistently high quality. what really sets this place apart is the depth of flavor, the spice levels are just right. you taste the chili, sichuan peppercorn, and mala fragrances, along with that unmistakable wok hei!! nothing feels muted or overly aggressive. - one must-order is the hunan bbq fish (君山烤鱼). at just over $30, ITS SUCH A STEALLL for what you get: an entire seabass served in a massive chafing dish, surrounded by a medley of vegetables like cauliflower, potatoes, lotus root, and peppers. the fish is tender and flaky, not overly salty or spicy, but infused with a beautifully fragrant mala heat. it's perfect for celebratory meals or sharing with a big group - the sautéed preserved pork with dried smoked bamboo shoots (烟笋炒腊肉) is an absolute classic. the cured pork belly has an intense smokiness that hits you immediately, with alternating bites of rich fatty pieces and deeply savory lean cuts. the bamboo shoots add texture and soak up all that flavor - their poached sliced beef in hot chili oil (水煮牛肉) is another standout. the beef is incredibly succulent, swimming in a chili oil broth that's bursting with aroma without being overwhelming. this dish can often be too oily or salty elsewhere, but hunan kitchen nails the balance! - the sauteed diced chicken with chili pepper (辣子鸡) is my all time FAVVV and something i've loved since growing up. the chicken is perfectly crispy and crunchy while staying juicy on the inside. paired with dried chilies and peppercorns, the numbing spice slowly creeps in and builds as you eat. its ADDICTING in the most dangerous way, and i genuinely cannot stop eating it every time - the stir-fried diced chicken with green peppercorn (青花椒鸡丁) offers a slightly different flavor profile that i really love. the chicken is tender, and the green peppercorn brings a refreshing, citrusy, almost electric numbing sensation that feels lighter and brighter compared to red chilies. it's bold and a really fun contrast to some of the other dishes - for something non spicy, the seafood and japanese tofu (海鲜玉子豆腐) is PURE COMFORT FOOD for me. the tofu is lightly crisped on the outside but sooo silky inside, topped with soft fish fillets, huge shrimp, and a rich, glossy sauce packed with umami. i ascend every single time i eat it LOL overall, hunan kitchen is insanely worth it for the price. the portions are massive, the quality is consistently high, and for how authentic and flavorful the food is, it's honestly such a steal. you get way more than what you pay for, especially when ordering family style, and they even offer lunch specials, which makes it easy to come back often for a quick meal. it's such an underrated spot in katy and i wish more people talked about it :') this place deserves way more love!!
