I discovered they did Mandarin Chinese, so I was excited. It was very good, but not the best I I ever had in Houston/-the sauce is a little thin in my opinion. I got the combination lunch plate, which I would recommend. I wish soup was included with lunch, but I opted for spring role instead as my choice. It was very good as well. The service was fine and the hot tea was authentic chines--not some crappy tea bag, but actual tea leaves. Very good, but expensive. Fried rice was also very good-/noticeable a theme in my review. We were looking for something close to home so we decided to give this place a second chance. The restaurant is very clean with ample seating. We were welcomed right away and the service was great. Our waiter was very friendly and super attentive, it made dining in that much more joyful. Food - I have a big love for sweet and sour chicken ( don't judge lol ) and these were perfectly crisp, seasoned and the sauce was perfect. The fried rice was good but unfortunately the XLB was missing the soup. The dumplings had good flavor but the soup was MIA. I ordered the complete dinner portion of sesame chicken. It came with one spring roll, one crab puff, and egg drop soup along with a side of rice. Everything was excellent. All the food had steam coming off of it and I had to wait a minute or two before eating so I wouldn't get burned. Inside was clean and well decorated. I opted to dine in around lunch time. It was quiet and clean. I was the only dine in customer. A couple of people came in to pick up to go orders. I opted for the Hunan chicken under the lunch bento & spring rolls. The bento.came with a won ton soup. One of the better ones I've had in a while. Last time I was here it was called Ling Long Dumplings. I placed my order online and was surprised with a free app which was cool. When I walked in to pick up, the owner explained how theres usually discounts or promos with online orders. Super friendly! When I finally got home with my food, I realized we were missing the sweet and sour sauce for the chicken. We called in and let them know and we were able to go back and pick it up. Sweet and sour chicken just doesn't hit the same without the sauce. The fried rice that came along with the meal was very pale and no flavor. The egg drop soup was thick and yummy. I prefer lo mein noodles on the thinner side but the flavor was okay. Not the best but not the worst. I know better than to get XLB to go but I've been craving them like crazy. I have come here twice, and had the Kung Pao, and Mongolian dish at another time. The flavor, taste, and quantity is really good. I just wish there prices were less. But, with these times I get it. Paid $11.95 plus $3.95, but on that occasion, I was charged $14.95 plus the $3.95, so beware. Today the Mongolian was $14.95 plus $3.95. What is the plus $3.95? A little soup, a fried skinny egg roll ( thin crust), and a fried puff. I don't think I will do the $3.95 again. It had the basics--rice, some scrambled egg, and a few veggies--but was missing the balance and flavor that make fried rice so satisfying. The rice was a bit mushy, which took away from the ideal texture; instead of that lightly crispy, separated feel, it felt more like a stir-fried mush. Just got my second takeout order from China Inn Cafe 7 and it was fabulous. I've had many a local Chinese food experiences, but this one is the best. All the dishes we had were very tasty and quite large in portions leaving plenty of leftovers. We've had Edamame, spicy dumplings, vegetable fried rice, General Tso chicken, sesame chicken, steamed chicken and vegetables and Mongolian chicken. Every dish was perfect.
