Picked up a to-go order on a Sunday evening. There was a solo customer seated in the dining room. From what I can gather, this is pretty standard strip mall Chinese-American fare. The gentleman at the counter was less than enthusiastic. I was surprised that the Hunan Shrimp had a spicy kick to it, but somewhat bland flavor. The fried rice was fluffy but a bit plain too. T Jin is one of my sister's favorite restaurants in Katy, so I decided to come along with her to try it out for lunch. Incredibly prompt and helpful service. All of the waitstaff were very friendly. They have lunch specials which are served until 3:00, and come with quite a bit of food (my sister even took some home). Truly a bargain for the $8-9 price range. I ordered the Jalapeno Chicken dish, which looked to be the spiciest dish on the menu. I wouldn't have minded it spicier, but I was happy with what I got. Chop sticks are not de rigueur in this restaurant, but you can ask for them, and they'll happily provide them. (I would've preferred rice in a separate bowl, which is more traditional. I'll ask them if they'll do that the next time I come by.) My sister ordered the orange chicken, one of her favorites. I tried a little bit. It's breaded chicken (I think it would have been better with fresh chicken), and not super spicy (more in line with her tastes, and not with mine). I always get the Hunan because I love the sauce and vegetables they pair it with. Some green tea, Wonton Soup, and Crab Ragoons, and Hunan Triple Delight. Its just a lil place in an HEB shopping center, so parking is a pain. But the staff is nice, the place is always super clean. Ordering online is so EASY! Me and my son go here on day dates. I go to HEB all the time and I noticed that there is always people coming in and out of this restaurant. I thought, I'll have to try this place out one day as me and family love Chinese food. Well when the day came, I went in to order to go. The person at the counter seemed in a bad mood and seemed annoyed that I was asking questions about the food in the menu. I was just asking if they served teriyaki chicken or chow mein. Which they do not by the way. I went ahead and ordered the orange chicken which came with steamed rice and the broccoli beef with lo mein. The orange chicken was ok and the broccoli beef was pretty bad and bland. No one in my family liked it. We went ahead and gave it to our dogs who enjoyed it. I would suggest going to Panda Express instead. Their food is much better and the price is better as well. Great Chinese for a quick pick and take home. It is nothing fancy but it is dependable.

The good: 1. They have very friendly staffing. 2. The place was really clean. 3. The staff will give you plenty of suggestions. 4. Asians are working the counter and the kitchen, so you can expect an authentic taste. 5. Lunch specials are very well priced. The bad: 1. Price to portion ratio is approved for the lunch combo only. Not enough food for the dinner specials. 2. The taste is not always consistent with the food items. The ugly: 1. This is not high quality food items. 2. You can taste that they are skimping on the graded food items to turn profits. Overall, this place can scratch an itch if you can not find any other options. I do not think you will be disgusted eating here if you go at lunch time and take advantage of one of the specials. read more

MSG Alert! Many people cannot have MSG in their food, however so many restaurants have stopped using it that we rarely ask. We felt compelled to ask here and the server said, "oh yes! We put MSG in everything! He said this as if a chemical flavor enhancer is a good thing - it's not. If the food is good, there's no need to add flavor enhancers. Come on, T Jin. While this is a chain store, I have enjoyed their food. I've never been disappointed. The in house help is friendly And attentive. They do delivery, The driver is always friendly and courteous. Really I give this Place no stars. I sat down to read my menu. I decided to order but then looked at my silverware. My fork had dried rice in it. My fork was dirty. When my waitress came to take my order I ordered then ask her to look at my fork. She just grabbed it from me and left. Came back with just a fork and sat it down. She acted mad. No apology to me or anything. The dirty fork was not pleasant but I could over look it only if she had apologized or said anything besides acting mad. But customer service goes a long way with me. I normally always tip 20%. Not today. I know tips are the majority of the pay for wait staff. She must work on her customer service skills if she wants to earn what her service is worth. I like this place as far as food is concerned. My favorite dish is the Hunan chicken with extra veggies. Portions are plenty big. Food comes out very quickly as soon as order is placed. It's very affordable as they have lunch menu 7 days a week, 11:00-3:00. I usually come on Sunday. Their servers could be more friendly though. read more

Something has changed! Not only is the menu different but our food was not good this time. We have eaten here 3x in last 3 months and it was excellent! Last night was not a repeat. I could have sworn I'd already written a review for this place , please be careful what you order and make sure it's cooked all the way! I stopped coming here initially because I noticed I started getting a metal taste in my mouth when I ate there and started getting sick every time. I works around the corner so it was convenient after years of not eating there my coworkers convinced me to go I order an egg roll and a crab puff neither of them were cooked all the way through and when I bit into the crab puff nothing but oil came out of it the very next day I fainted and had horrible diarrhea I got food poisoning! It was so bad that i have been dizzy ever since and it's been three weeks I had to go to the hospital they said it was bad bacteria in my stomach I was given antibiotics but my stomach has still not recovered and I don't think I will ever be the same I have had diarrhea for three weeks straight! If I could sue them I would! I'm still having to frequently go get checked because the dizziness I get is intense all my blood work came back fine so it is literally my stomach I am poor and can't afford to go to doctor after doctor I need an ultrasound now I need and endoscopy I am beyond sick and just want my old life back! I really like food at this location. If you're looking for tasty Chinese food, in a quiet atmosphere, you've arrived. I've eaten here a few time and even had food delivered and it's never been disappointing at all. Today I had the Mongolian beef with fried rice. It was good tasting, slightly spicy and the beef had a texture associated with standard Chinese food. I can't say anything amazingly bad or rave about this place. I was warned of this place and I did not listen. My daughter and I are not high maintenance, and I have to say the service was terrible. Tonight my daughter and I asked for ice water with lemon. More than one hour went by when my daughter had to wave both arms to get their attention. There was us and one other table. They were not busy. As both of our glasses were empty, they only filled hers and left. My glass remained empty. My Szechwan beef was very fatty. The beef was not lean and loaded with fat and gristle. The hot and sour soup was not hot nor was it sour. During our meal they decided to change out the sugar and soy sauce on the table. I had to set my chopsticks down so the waiter could reach across me to get to the sugar and soy sauce. Could they not wait till we were done. This place sucks all around.
