Delightfully fresh and authentic Chinese cuisine. We were looking for an Asian restaurant in Katy. When we walked in there was a Chinese family eating at a round table. I knew this would be good. I highly recommend the Shredded Pork with Garlic Sauce. The taste is spectacular and of course the portion is large.

I decided to give them a try because they always leave their menu on our doors.. I decided to give them a try, on the menu it says free delivery if your around 5 mile radius. I called the lady that answered, was very rude from the start... I asked her if I can get a to go order and she's like yeah, you'll pick up right? And I said I live close by I see that you do, free delivery. No I don't have driver so you want or no? Truly after that I didn't want to order, but I decided to do it anyways. I'm truly upset with myself that I did, because I truly got such poor costumer service. Picked up my to go order the restaurant wasn't busy. Maybe that's why I had received poor costumer service. Nope, not the case. Did I get a better costumer service when I went to pick up my food nope. I got the beef lo mein not flavorful, I've had better. The wanton soup was decent. They truly need to add more flavor, it was truly a let down. I asked for the chili sauce oil, it wasn't even spicy... I will say they do give you a good proportion of food, other than that I would definitely go somewhere else. Not impressed at all.

Been here 3 times last 2 month. Food is cooked fresh and not much of a wait. I will continue come as long as they can keep cooking it right. The spicy food is authentically good. The pork intestine, fish stew and even traditional orange chicken. Btw we frequent Houston Chinatown so I know my Chinese food :)

I was born and raised in Hunan and this place is hands down the most authentic Hunan place I found in Houston. I'm based in downtown Houston and willing to drive all the way to Katy cuz I really miss home Try the old Changsha Snack, the Beer Duck and Cauliflower. Super good!! My friends liked the popcorn chicken and clean noodles stir fry with cabbage 作为湖南人我要为老板疯狂打call 希望下次来的时候能吃到卤粉哈哈哈

A full scoop of oil with my food. Its supposed to have sauce not oil and a dash of sauce flavor.

Very oily food. Does not taste very good. Over priced for the quantity of food purchased.

Drove almost 1 hour to have dinner in this restaurant. The FOOD was good, BUT, SERVICE was TERRIBLE. When we step in, the lady with short hair just ask how many ppl and point a high chair table to us. So, we requested for a regular table(there were couple empty regular table opened) Then, she became unhappy with it. When we sat down, she came with her impatient face asked what we want to drink. Later on, she came by and asked us to order the food with rush sounds( I thought she might be busy, however, when I looked around, it wasn't busy. When we checked out, I used Gift card, then, she came back told me couldn't use gift card??????? I used the gift card to buy the milk tea ON MILK TEA PLACE(Share tea house). then, ON THIS RESTAURANT, it is not allow to use?? And her attitude was mean(ALMOST YELLING) to us to ask to exchange a card( the white shirt lady was friendly to tell short hair lady to try to enter manually, she just ignored and kept her mean attitude and volume up ) IF THE MANAGER/OWNER CAN READ THIS REVIEW, PLEASE CONSIDER THE LADY( who works on Friday night, short black hair) TO CHANGE HER SERVICE QUALITY, IN CASE TO HELP THE RESTAURANT IMPROVE THE "ENTERPRISE IMAGE" Hi, owner (Continue after owner replied) Please read the words carefully, I don't want to make you misunderstand something. the main point I would like to say is improve the service quality. :) Hope next time, when I visit the restaurant, the waitress' service can be better( WISH TO BE friendly, smile to us , volume down a little bit)

Tip: Get the Soft Bacon with Bao! Everything else was great too but the bao dish was awesome! Food: More Sichuan than american chinese, if that helps. Food can be spicy. But they have american chinese dishes too. There were 2 dishes that caught my eye. One is called "soft bacon with bao". Bao is a steam bun. You stuff the bao with tender pork belly and sauce, kinda like a taco. It is one of my favorites. The pork belly melts in your mouth. My picky kids devour them. The other dish is "crispy spicy chicken". These are like chicken nuggets except served with hot peppers. So good too! We also ordered the Chicken Lo Mein. Once again, it was very taste and my kids agreed. They get my extra 5th star because that awesome Bacon and Bao dish!!! Place: Very clean and modern. Casual dress. Good number of tables and even one large table for group of maybe 8. TVs also available. Service: we were seated immediately. Food came out pretty fast too. The owner, Jessy, even came out and greeted us. VERY Nice owner! Value: This is not your regular chinese take out. Its not much more but much better tasting in my opinion. And if you want more authentic Chinese dishes this is a great choice.

I am so glad I find a authentic Chinese restaurant in Katy. This one has Hunan Cuisine and also Szechuan Cuisine. Lots of Szechuan Cuisine here right now, but only one Hunan Cuisine. I ordered swimming fish. (5/5) the fish is very fresh. The fish soup is excellent. Also, I ordered sautéed pork with Serrano pepper. (5/5) This is the signature Hunan fish. Spicy and great! I don't need drive to Bellaire anymore. Will be back definitely.

We got the roti canai and salt and pepper calamari as appetizers, and the sizzling tofu, beef rendang, CK teow as entrees. - Sizzling tofu (6/5): A MUST TRY! I've never had tofu with this texture before. The outside is slightly crisp and the inside so light and fluffy, it feels like bitting into a cloud. The tofu tastes like a creamy egg soufflé and the sauce is savory and salty with pieces of sauté onions that add a nice crunch. The presentation was also very striking with the server pouring the sizzling sauce over the tofu. It's just such a beautiful dish that I would go back solely for! - Beef rendang (4.5/5): Overall a delicious and hearty dish. The beef was very tender and juicy, and there was a generous amount of it. The potatoes soaked up the sauce very well and made the dish extra filling. I forgot if we got to pick a spice level, but the dish had a nice kick to it and wasn't overwhelming spicy. - "CK teow" char kway teow (4/5): This dish had a lovely char tasted to it that made it very addictive. Just a nice savory noodle dish. I think my only complaint was that the portion was on the smaller side - Salt & pepper calamari (3.6/5): This was a pretty good calamari. The calamari had a light and crispy exterior and was pretty tender and seasoned really well. The chunky veggies were a nice touch texture wise. - Roti Canai (3.6/5): the Indian bread was so nice and flakey, I could've eaten it alone. The curry was also really tasty and flavorful, just a little bit watery. Service/ambiance: Service was excellent and they gave us so much rice. The restaurant was dimly lit, giving it a nice ambiance for dinner or a date night.

We also loved the roti canai, which had the perfect flaky texture. Some of the other dishes could have used a bit more spice/flavor, but they were still enjoyable overall. The restaurant was busy, but the space still felt comfortable and private, which we appreciated. Julie was our server and she was incredibly sweet and attentive! They place a large glass bottle of water on the table for you to refill yourself, but she still made sure our glasses stayed full the whole time. That extra level of care really stood out. Would definitely come back next time we're in Texas!

This place delivered where it mattered most, especially with the highly reviewed appetizers. Probably one of my favorite drinks here was the Thai Green Tea. It has a really interesting flavor that stands out from regular Thai Tea -- more earthy, but not quite like matcha (we guessed there might be pandan in it). Just a heads up: it's definitely on the sweeter side. My partner and I actually let the ice melt a bit before continuing to drink it, which helped balance things out. I came back a second time and still loved it just as much. The dipping sauce felt like a truly authentic representation of Vietnamese cuisine. It was a lightly diluted fish sauce with spicy red pepper and plenty of garlic -- simple but really flavorful. I also appreciated that the table setup let you customize it to your taste. In my first experience here, we ordered the Bánh Xèo, Bánh Khọt, and Bánh Bột Chiên. I was hands down a huge fan of the ginormous Bánh Xèo -- crispy, flavorful, and just overall my favorite (though I'll admit I'm a little biased toward it already). Meanwhile, my boyfriend completely fell in love with the crunchy Bánh Khọt. That said, I did notice a slight graininess in the Bánh Khọt, which took away a few points for me. The Bánh Bột Chiên was solid and got a pass from us, but it wasn't our top pick -- mostly because we've had better versions elsewhere. Other worthy notes: the herbs were fresh and crisp, and the pickled vegetables were refreshing as well (though my boyfriend thought they could've been a bit more strongly pickled). Eating everything the traditional way -- wrapping it in lettuce with herbs -- made the whole experience even better. Honestly, I would come back just to order two Bánh Xèo. I actually came back a second time before posting this review, this time with my family. We ordered the Bắp Xào, Cơm Chiên Bò Lúc Lắc, and a simple rice dish. This visit was a bit different -- across the board, we all agreed the dishes leaned too salty this time around. I could also tell the staff was overwhelmed, with only two people handling both the front and the kitchen, so it was tough to get their attention at times. That said, the Bánh Xèo still held its ground. My parents were genuinely impressed by the size, and for me, it's still an absolute banger -- something I'd come back for again and again purely for flavor and value. The Bắp Xào really stood out to me in a nostalgic way. I loved the use of traditional Vietnamese corn, and the sautéed dried shrimp brought back memories of flavors from dishes I grew up eating, even if I couldn't quite pinpoint which one. While my mom thought it was too salty, I actually felt like it would pair perfectly with a bowl of plain white rice. I also tried some of my brother's Cơm Chiên Bò Lúc Lắc and found the beef to be tender and flavorful, though not particularly standout compared to other places. I've had very similar versions nearby, but it's still my brother's go-to -- though I suspect that might also be his way of loading up on protein. Overall, even with the inconsistency during the second visit, I still really enjoy Yummy Quan -- especially for the appetizers. It's a place I'd bring family and friends to try, and I'm still curious about more of the menu... but realistically, I could live life on Bánh Xèo alone. At the end, you also get to grab some guava candy, and for anyone who's never had these, don't forget to pick some up -- they're simply delectable!

We saw on the door that they're BYOB? Thai Green Tea (4.5/5): Really sweet but with some pretty unique grassy/herbal notes! (Pandan??) Would recommend if they can adjust the sweetness down a notch. We let the ice melt a bit and it made for a great palatte cleanser. Banh Xeo (4.5/5): Definitely one of their signature dishes. I read the reviews on how large it was and it was still shocking! See my hand for reference. It's crispy and delicious. Two downsides: Not enough protein, and not enough lettuce to make wraps with how big it is. But overall, definitely one of the best I've had outside of homemade. Banh Khot (4/5): These little flavor explosions are a perfect bite size and are also a signature dish. Would definitely recommend. A few of ours were light on the pork. Banh Bot Chien (3.5/5): I was dying to try this since there is really one famous spot for it. Their version is very good, but misses on the crispiness. The inside texture and pairing sauces and radish were all very good, it just needed a little more crisp. I love that they give extra garlic and spice and basically let you customize the intensity of your fish sauce to your preference. Paid with no issues via inKind at the counter. We definitely left stuffed and would come back!

As I dug deeper, I read Jando's glowing review word-for-word and found myself salivating. Well, I ventured out to S. I had read before that they used to be closed on Tuesdays and Saturdays, but now they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays but open for dinner on Saturdays. (See my photos.) Anyhow, we walked in and found the place homey. Nothing fancy - just a nice, clean, homey Malaysian restaurant. Not too big, and not too small. We placed our order of roti canai, stir fried flat rice noodles, seafood sizzling tofu, and topped it off with a Malaysian milk tea. Oh my - we were satisfied and stuffed as a party of 2. We ended up boxing up almost 40% of the meal. The roti was near perfection - crispy, hot, flaky. The dipping sauce was perfectly seasoned with the right amount of heat. It included chunks of chicken and potato. You must absolutely order this one. I love me some stir fried flat rice noodles so we got that one with chicken. Overall, it was excellent. Portions were a tad smaller than I would like for the price. Also it could use a little bit of hot sauce so we asked for a side of sriracha which they gladly and quickly brought. The sizzling tofu - OMG so good. I can't even explain it. I just love it so much and the portions are huge. I'm not sure what the vegetable flavor would taste like but we tried the seafood one and have no regrets. Lastly the milk tea was just because we felt like splurging and it was also a great decision. The tea flavor itself is deep and the overall drink is very nice. We got it iced. And an honorable mention - we ran into Uncle Chin (at least we assume it was Uncle Chin) and told him his food was amazing. I think he really appreciated it. He seems like a super nice guy and I want his business to do really well. If that wasn't Uncle Chin then we talked to a random person and raved about the food... We then tried the vegetable fried dumplings. They were very good but I would next time do the steamed. The crispy outside was a little odd but different. It's not the usual fried dumplings you are used to. The inside was very tasty but the fried outer part was different. My only complaint is the prices. Take this review as it is and I'm just writing from my experience here…read more It's a small, cozy restaurant in a busy plaza. Parking was hard to find but that's not the restaurant's fault. The food was pretty good for the most part. The broth of the soup was flavorful and I liked the homemade noodles from the beef soup my friend and I ordered. In my opinion, I would give the overall flavor of the food 4 stars just because the meat of the dumplings itself wasn't as flavorful as I'd hope. However, the wood ear mushroom salad was phenomenal. The service though, was subpar. I didn't have a good experience because of my food allergy. I'm allergic to crustaceans. The first thing the lady asked was what kind of drink we wanted - my friend asked for warm tea. She proceeded to look at her funny and kind of gave her a bit of an attitude and said "what's warm tea?". My friend meant hot tea and ordered that. It was a weird vibe from her but we thought nothing of it. Then when it was time to order the food, I ordered the pork and mushroom xialongbao and even pointed to it. The lady proceeded to upsell and asked if we wanted to order the pork and crab version instead. I asked my friend if she wanted it and I just won't eat it and she said no. Then, the lady proceeded to say something about ordering pork and shrimp (we didn't understand) but we didn't say anything about it. We didn't confirm anything, we just didn't respond. Not sure if she assumed or what. We just wanted to order the pork and mushroom xialongbao. The one I pointed to. Then the food came out. I noticed the xialongbao had a tiny piece of shrimp at the top. I thought it was a mistake. I opened it up and saw a big piece of shrimp inside next to the pork. I thought, maybe the pork/mushroom xialongbao has shrimp too and thought nothing of it. I decided to eat around the shrimp and the broth itself was tasty. Then I decided to go ahead and ask her if the pork and mushroom xialongbao included shrimp, she said no. I told her -- "oh we ordered pork and mushroom, not shrimp. I'm allergic. I wouldn't order this." And instead of acknowledging the mistake, she says "I confirmed with you and your friend that you ordered the pork & shrimp." I then said "no, we didn't confirm this because I'm allergic". She said "well maybe your friend confirmed it". I looked at her funny because I was the one who placed the order, my friend didn't speak. I was frustrated so I walked back to my table and just decided to eat the rest of my food. The chefs in the back asked her what happened so I guess she told them. She came back to our table and offered a few pork and mushroom xialongbaos but still doubled down on the fact that we confirmed the pork and shrimp one. We didn't want it because at this point I was full and frustrated. This was an honest mistake but it just irked me that she kept on insisting that she didn't make a mistake. I wish she would have owned up to maybe mishearing me or whatever instead of insisting that she was right. I could have easily given this place 5 stars even if there was a mistake made if she was kinder about it. But her attitude was quite off putting and I'm not sure that I'll be back again.

Service was prompt and quasi friendly. I thought the broth was good despite having an overwhelming aroma of cinnamon. I requested for pho tuoi (fresh noodles) which are slightly bigger than the standard noodles they give you. However, I regretted this choice because many of my noodles were clumped together, distracting from the overall enjoyment of the meal. Additionally, I think there's a heavy usage of MSG in their broth because I felt loopy and very thirsty for water halfway through. Needless to say, I was only able to eat half of the generous serving. For those who are a fan of pho and appreciate generous portions, this place is definitely worth a visit. Their pho bowls are substantially larger than those I've encountered elsewhere, offering a potentially satisfying experience for the more voracious diner but for me, quantity is not enough of a reason to become a regular. Note: There's a $1 uncharge for pho tuoi (fresh noodles).

I…read morepicked Pho Guru because I drove by and saw a pho restaurant in this area, which made me curious to try it. We dined in for lunch. At first it was just us and one other table, but not long after, more people started coming in, probably for lunch as well. The restaurant is pretty large, with both tables and booths, plus a big table for large groups. This is what we ordered: Combo Rolls This comes as a sampler with five different types of spring rolls. Regular spring rolls, nem nuong rolls (fermented grilled pork), grilled chicken, grilled pork, and shrimp only. I really liked this idea because it lets you try everything without having to order each roll separately. My favorite was the nem nuong roll. Bun Bo Hue I do not eat pork blood or pork loaf, so I substituted them with more tendon and beef meatballs. Because of that, I cannot really comment on how the pork tasted. The broth was okay but a little lacking in flavor. After I asked for shrimp paste, it tasted much better. Bo Kho (Beef Stew) This is my husband favorite dish, so he always orders it whenever a place has it. He ordered the one come with bread as dipping. He did not really like this one. It was not bad, but not great either. The flavor was missing, and the broth was more watered down than how he prefers it. Still, it is worth trying if you like beef stew. Overall, our experience was just okay. The service was fine, but the food did not leave a strong impression on us. We did not stay long since my husband had to get back to work. I would come back to try more dishes, especially pho. Since their name is Pho Guru, I feel like the pho might be better. Plus we dined in around Fall time in 2025 so I think the place would have so change with out last experience
