I anm a loyal customer and I always order from here and their food has been great! Today, I ordered the General Tso's chicken and had it delivered, and it was inedible. The rice was way undercooked and the chicken had a piece of what looked like bone! I even tried another piece and same thing. I called and the lady who answered was quick to tell me their chicken is boneless and I told her maybe it was gristle, but my entire meal was terrible. She was quick to tell me there is nothing she could do. I said fine, then please talk to the cook, the manager, whomever, but I can't eat this. She said ok. I tried this place for the first time upon recommendation from my daughter. My stomach was so grateful. The wonton soup had very flavorful broth and tender, perfectly seasoned wontons.The eggroll was filled with savory goodness. The orange chicken was perfect. Crab rangoons were decent. Egg rolls weren't very good and the dumplings weren't good at all. I asked her about what was in them besides meat. She told me vegetables. I haven't had dumplings that had vegetables in them before. She told me that's how they receive them. My sister ate one then spit it in a napkin. I decided to try one. My wonton soup was brown instead of clear and doesn't taste the way it usually does, the chicken had barely any sauce, and the fried rice is hard. Luckily the eggrolls were really good. I went with what was recommended on Yelp which is the black pepper chicken and I ordered egg drop soup and cheese puffs with it. Finally a restaurant that advertises No MSG used but has flavor to it. The black pepper chicken was spicy but nothing I couldn't handle and was flavorful. The fried rice wasn't greasy at all but yet still had flavor to it. The chicken wings were hot out of the oven and tasty. If I didn't order the chicken wings as an extra appetizer, my meal would've been under $8! What a deal. Want to start off with something positive. Great customer service. But the food isn't good. Wanted to try this place because of the reviews. The egg rolls are 100% frozen. Don't taste fresh/homemade at all. Plus they are very small. Ordered the kung pao chicken and it was half vegetables(huge mushrooms, squash maybe, celery and peanuts) hardly any chicken. Plus they cut the water chestnuts the same way and size the chicken is cut and you can't really tell the difference. So I'm eating a spoon full of vegetables and water chestnuts. Such a waste of money. It's a good way to scam and save money on chicken. Also ordered fried rice and it wasn't terrible. It was alright. I ordered the steamed dumplings. They are HUGE! Nothing delicate about these. The dough was thick and in areas where sealed, they were super thin. Then there's the chunk of pork that was tasteless and bland. Let's look at the Shrimp and vegetables. My god! Something was killed in my white delivery box. Red sauce was everywhere. Always perfect Chinese food. We've been dining here since 2017. Service is great when we do carry out. I've never had delivery. I order the cashew chicken that comes with perfectly chopped carrots, celery and cashews. Also, the beef lo mein is spot on. Recently moved out to Katy so have been trying all the Chinese places in the area. I stopped at Cafe Asian on the way home from work to pick up an order to go. The prices were very reasonable, around 6 dollars for an entree, rice, soup and an egg roll. I am a huge Mongolian beef fan, so I will always order it the first time I try a new place. The employee that took my order was very nice but... I asked for them to make the Mongolian beef spicy and was told. "No" They don't make it spicy. OK, guess I will try the Jalapeno beef. I asked what was in it and he said its Mongolian beef with jalapeno so its spicy. Really?!?... LOL So about 15 minutes later my "Jalapeno Mongolian beef" is ready. Get it home and its still pipping hot and looks pretty good. (see pic) It may look good but it was very bland. Not much flavor at all. It's like having mall food without going to the mall. The egg roll was the small frozen type you would buy in the grocery store and the wonton soup was disappointing as well. Will I return? Probably not, lots of other Chinese restaurants in the area and this wouldn't be my first choice. *Update* OK, I know I said I probably wouldn't come back but I did. A couple of times now. The quality of the food has improved. I had the orange chicken last time and it was pretty good. For the price I really can't complain. They have a different egg roll now, not bad. The soup is still sub par but at least the main entrees have improved. If you are looking for a cheap filling Chinese meal, this place may fit the bill. *2nd Update" Black Pepper Chicken.... I've ordered from here several times. The food is good. I love the shrimp rolls! I've also ordered their shrimp fried rice and garlic shrimp which were good. I would only say this...my garlic shrimp may have had 4 to 5 shrimp in it. The shrimp are a good size but I wouldn't have mind having about 3 to 4 more in the entree. Got food from here last night for dinner, first time ordering from here and was quite impressed and this are my reasons: 1) From the great job packaging the food absolutely no spills from food, which usually happens at other places we have ordered from in the past. The container were sturdier which i commend greatly. 2) The food tasted great nice and hot when it arrived. I like how the pork fried rice we ordered had little soy sauce added perfect for my kids (although me personally like a good amount of soy sauce to mine but had no problem adding it myself). The lo mien was perfectly amount of soy sauce as well. The orange chicken was a little bland as far as the chicken but i think that maybe be how it should be not sure dont order it that much but it was still good. 3) The amount of food you get is worth the price(it is a little expensive) but it was enough for dinner and lunch the next day which is always a plus so i kind of understand the price. Mongolian Beef w/ Rice - The rice was a little undercooked. Very cheap. No nice aroma. Beef was extremely salty. Over abundance of onions. Very little beef. Wonton Soup - Excessively salty. Very harsh and heavy. Wonton wrappers are too thick and has very little meat. The meat in both main dishes were shredded so it seems like there is a lot of meat, but there really isn't. Obvious way to save on meat money. No substance to the dishes. Atmosphere :: Typical cheap Asian hole in the wall decoration. Nothing special. Fairly clean. Service :: Fairly attentive. Got one of our orders wrong, but swiftly corrected it and brought the correct dish out within moments. Overall :: The food is very cheaply made. Extremely salty. I know a cockroach breeding ground when I see one, but those pesky insect has also never caused any outbreaks or death. Most of the items here are pure crap. Egg roll that taste like sheet rock, teh nose drop, er Egg Drop soup was no good either. But then the main dish's are more favorable than the grungy interior indicates. Yes, I approve. What good is the food if you are just unreasonable about giving any hot sauce or oil. I frequently go there or order delivery. This time I ordered 2 combo meals. They still insisted on giving me just 1 hot sauce (or oil as they call it). I fail to understand this policy of 1 hot sauce per order. So if its 2 or 3 people eating they are to share just 1 hot oil. They want to charge $0.25c extra for another hot sauce. I tried to reason with the lady on the phone that these are two orders but she wont budge. She even said 'Do you want your order or not'? I came across Cafe Asian when I was trying to find a place that might have a Kung Pao chicken I actually like but after reading reviews on their Black Pepper Chicken, I decided to try that instead and it did not disappoint. Very flavorful. The sauce is so good that I actually eat the mushrooms in the dish which I normally hate. Cafe Asian is in the same parking lot of a fast food Chinese chain and this place is almost as fast (5 min usually), around the same price if not cheaper at lunch, & has better tasting food. I took a chance, as I am a SUPER picky eater when it comes to certain foods, and I tend not to be adventurous when it comes to what I want to eat.
